[KERNEL][TF101] Nvidia 3.1.10 Divemaster --- nearly ready! - Eee Pad Transformer Android Development

Android Nvidia Tegra 3.1 - Codename Divemaster
for
Asus TF101
Welcome to the first pre-alphas of the 3.1 Nvidia Tegra Kernel series.
This kernel is way smoother and faster than any other (2.6.39.4) kernel available.
Guevor's 3.1 kernel is a 2.6.39.4 kernel with few things backported.
I am very proud to finally be able to announce the first public preview of this.
I am the only developer for this (at the moment).
If you want to help me with developing, post in this thread or pm me !
Any help from any kernel developers is appreciated. The updated source is at GITHUB.
Please don't confuse the two commiters; RaymanFX is my GitHub account on Mac OS 10.7.4, skirata is my GitHub account in my virtual Ubuntu system.

Could you take a moment to explain the advantages of the newer drivers over what we have currently?

Just a general question. Isn't this a Tegra 2 Linux 3.1 Kernel? Your thread headline is somewhat misleading...

@ osho741 :
The improvements are countless. Please read the changelog at kernel.org to get an idea.
New drivers deliver more features and better qualitiy.
@Radenam :
No, this is the android-tegra branch right from nvidia, and the different SoCs (tegra2, tegra3) share some common features. This is basically applicible for the tf201 to some point for example.

I just got done flashing it. It is quite snappy, on e the WiFi bug is worked out I will
test it more as there is not a lot that can be tested with it at the moment. Booted just fine on eos jellybean build 60

Agreed very snappy, the wifi almost seems like it wants to connect, under settings the wifi on/off keeps switching back and forth every half a second and it does see my router when its on. im on eos #60 also, few bugs ive found so far:
it seems to power off or freeze when the screens off for more then 10 seconds
Im getting a few random full freezes that require a reboot
also auto rotate isnt working

Nice work,thanks man.

#Excited!
#OhBoy!
#TF101-k_v3.1.X
#WEEEEEEE
#Profit?
just kidding, all jokes aside, since ICS/JB are truly meant for K_v3+ I look forward to this refreshing the desire of the development community

Looks like I have something new to look forward to. Will be keeping a close eye on this. Great worm so far, will do some in-depth testing once wifi is corrected.

You can test it, RaymanFX said it may work on ics

Everyone seems so excited about this., but what makes it better than guevor's #696?

nice try...
it boots but does not work.

Nice to see that development for our device isnt dead.
Great work!

No offence, I am sure this is super awesome, but I think you made a typo in the thread name - "Nvidida"!
Will try it soon, seems like it could be pretty awesome. Though, I still wish you continued your ROMs, your AOSP build was freakin' awesome
Gd luck for the future.
Will report back later.

AOSP development will be continued due to high user's request
Typo is corrected.
Thanks for letting me know.
I am working hard at the moment to provide the battery meter.
Overclocking support and undervolting is to follow.

Another nice job Rayman, I will be flashing this as soon as the sleep bug is fixed!
I am a little confused, did you+other kernel devs port 3.1, or did you base it off of a nvidia 3.1 source?
Either way, awesome work, and I am looking forward to seeing build #4 of AOSP soon! It's nice that a quickly aging device like this is getting such awesome support .

I really want to see this go somewhere. Do you have anyone else on the developement end to help you? Im sure ton of people wll test, but developers will be important unless you are really good. Are you making progress, or are you going to ask other devs for help. I can contacts some if it will help.

Awesome! I was bummed that they cancelled the Zeusdroid project, especially all of the support and donations that poured in. I just wish they would release their work to benefit everyone else.

hopefully this project will not be cancelled

[Q] Update to CM5 as promised but nothing??

here is a post Cyanogen did back in June 30th of 2010
It’s been just under a week since Google released Froyo (Android 2.2) into the open-source world and we’ve made great progress on CyanogenMod-6 already. Approximately 20 of us on the CM team are working hard on merging all of the community-developed extras in, as well as porting to new devices. Google did a great job and really gave us the best foundation to start from this time around.
Here’s where we stand so far.. Most of the CyanogenMod extras have been merged. Some features are being reworked (like trackball settings), new device ports are well underway. The first devices to see CM6 experimental releases will most likely be the Nexus One and Droid simply because those are the devices that “just work”. The Dream/Sapphire port has everything working but one small issue remains. Wes Garner has the Slide port well underway. I don’t have a status report of the Desire, Incredible, and Evo versions at this time.
I’m expecting that we should have some experimental releases by the weekend, but please don’t spam us asking for ETAs.. We are just as excited to get this out as you are

Regarding updates to CM5.. A small update will be coming this weekend to fix a few bugs but the focus will remain on CM6!
Thanks to everyone who has been supporting us with testing, bugfixing, code, new features, and of course donations. CM is what it is because of the community. Thank you!
just curious for us not using froyo will there be an update to CM5??..

Bamp?
10char? anybody what to discuss the promise he made??
This is really not good that he promised something and then didn't fullfil this promise, but honestly... CM6 is so much better than CM5.08, personally I am not even thinking on trying 2.1 ROMs, I really don't understand why to bother with older software if newer gives you not only new features and same if not better speed and stability.
There is no point. Same reason why we don't see any progress on donut roms. They're old. 2.2 runs one hell of a lot better than any 2.1 roms did. Give up on CM 5 and come to the now.
I regret moving away from Donut (CM4.x). For me CM6 works worse than CM5 and CM 5 works worse than CM4. The only reason I am staying with CM6 is the hope that 6.1 will improve the situation. The main issue is the lack of memory and what follows as consequence (can't view big websites, can't take photos, apps close themselves due to lack of RAM, push mail does not work, etc.)
These problems are not always occuring, but they occur most of the time, especially if the last reboot is more than 2 or 3 hours in the past. I recommend waiting for CM6.1 and then reassess whether it is viable to switch.

This is a punishment for lack of exploring. I've been using 2.2 ROMs now for a while and aren't having any of the issues you're having. Did you mess with any of the cm settings? What about the adw launcher settings? All of these play a part in the functionality of the ROM. Some advice:
Under CM Settings > Performance Settings:
Code:
Use Compcache @ 25%
Disable JIT
Disable Surface dithering
Make sure Lock Home in Memory is checked
VM Heap Size 32m
For ADW Launcher:
Screen Preferences:
Code:
Make sure you are only using 3. This helps with the slowness
System Preferences:
Code:
Disable Scrollable Widget Support
Check System Persist
UI Settings:
Code:
Uncheck Desktop Dots
Uncheck Secondary ActionButtons
Uncheck desktop Indicator
With these settings, I have no problems running any 2.2 rom on my G1. Also, I have widgets on each of my screens.
when you press anything in setting or any app.. does it load instantly?
or is there a second or 2 lag? i strip my donut roms completly remove everything google including market, and i have 35.43 mb free on my data partition. its stupidfast. but csdi is the fastest @ that setting.
most of the time when i end apps with task killer i have 55 mb free.
so i can load it up with widgets if needed.
what im trying to say i have achieved that speed with froyo but only if my cpu is clocked @ 650+ all the time and super stripped. gah i rambled.. i hope you understand what im tying 2 say.

Call for help!
I want to start an android project to support most of the old and outdated devices. But for that I'm going to need some help.
Android developers who know their code and can write up new features or fix existing bugs.
Talented themers who have an eye for the beautiful and can design some nice UIs
Kernel developers who can read and write code that is pretty much a foreign language for me.
If you think you fit into one (or more) of these categories please contact me (PM, email, twitter, snail mail, etc) and together we shall rule the android world. You will be greatly rewarded for your efforts. Anything I get from developing this thing (which is pretty much nothing) I shall share with you. Kings will envy our wealth and popularity!
But seriously now. Don't be shy and contact me. It could be a great project for some old phones.
You area a wonderful man popdog

For the launcher, you may have to pull trebuchet from cm10, or ask nova or apex if you can include their ICS launcher as a prebuilt. I'd be glad to help out, but I don't have the optimus 1, just the optimus V.

i think for theming you should get help from neko and fundoozz
Nah.. I can fix the launcher. I don't have to replace it. This is just an early Christmas present

Quite expected Best of luck Popdog123!
Good to see someone working on a Jelly Bean AOSP port..
Hopefully this reaches a stable state as none of them actually did..

Well, times change, priorities change...
Great work popdog!
Lookin forward to this...

Good to see another JB from popdog..
i will try today
Watch out, popdog is attracting all the talented devs to the dark side, and they will rule the android world by making people buy lower end devices that are cheap and good, up-to-date (actually, O1 is still on eMag.ro)
Watch out for the sith (lol android doesn't have this word, it autocorrects)
Don't let Galaxy S3 users find out!!!
But this is great work, thank you for continuing your work
Sent from my LG-P500
Awesome project right there popdog. You can ask help to me when you want,I've had a hand into ICS and JB AOSP code. So did RockR172,guess he'd be glad to help you too
Well so far I've moved my repos to a github organization, made an irc chatroom, google code for holding downloads and a little blog for documenting the whole process. I'll explain more about it in the weekend.
Please spread the word about this. Together we can make better roms for these devices.
In the meantime enjoy this rom. I'm using it for 2 days now and aside from the issues i've posted I can't say anything bad about it.

It would be great if this word gets to the top devs of other devices like Gio, Ace, Blade, Mini, X8 etc. Anybody having contacts?
Can always count on popdog123 to bring something different to the game. Will keep an eye on this one, thanks dude :good:
It will be good if the blog that podog has made will have tutorials for newbie users too. And yes...could you provide with us with a link to the blog. I could also help you with that newbie tutorials . If you can make that in time you'll have more support.
Alright... tomorrow i'll send you everyone who was interested in this project a PM on XDA.
The sources for the AOSP build are on the project Github.
Even though the developer turnout was not as great as I expected, we can still make a great project!

0-day CyanogenMod project [LTE-A]

Received the device at 16:30.
Got home at 18:24.
CyanogenMod booted at 19:12.
0-day CyanogenMod project.
My development device is SHV-E330S, a Korean variant.
Which is almost identical to GT-I9506.
- Working list -
Almost everything including full H/W accelerated graphics
- Not working list -
Data (probably due to incorrect APN settings)
Wi-Fi (kernel modules are missing for now)
Proximity sensor
In-call audio
Screenshots attached.
Hit "Thanks" if you're excited!
- UPDATE 1 -
Several more stuffs seems to be broken.
mpdecision, accelerometer, gyro, compass, proximity sensors are broken.
With the auto brightness disabled, it causes kernel panic during boot.
Wi-Fi was rather hard to fix; considering S4 has bcm4335 but Note 3 has bcm4339. Porting jflte's Wi-Fi firmwares and libraries has fixed Wi-Fi and bluetooth.
ART is working with BaNkS' gapps. Scored 29751 with AnTuTu (probably due to mpdecision being broken)
- UPDATE 2 -
This is really bad.
Literally, all the sensors are broken.... Have no idea how to solve it yet..
Will take a look at sensor libraries..

- UPDATE 3 -
Victory!
Sensors are working very well
Now, In-call audio and kernel panic is left to be solved
- UPDATE 4 -
Kernel panic with brightness settings has been worked-around with dirty method.
This is not very ideal, but should be daily-usable until we find a more permanent solution.
Several more issues has been found.
Graphics is working smoothly but you may notice some studderings with video playback (eg. MXplayer).
Time to wake-up is noticeably longer than stock firmwares but still not heavily annoying.
Also, besides In-call audio is not working, call receiving is also confirmed not working with LTE connected.
Call will only come through HSPA+ or other networking types than LTE.
This may be only targeted to Korean variant because this issue also happens on Galaxy Note 3 Korean variant.
I'll spend next few days and try to fix this issue.
Another news, which is very bad indeed.
As you may know, Korean variant received KitKat upgrades.
Which changes bootloader and kernel.
AFAIK, 4.4 kernel is only compatible with 4.4 bootloader.
And this CM is based on 4.4 kernel and I don't have much time to rebase it to 4.3 kernel source.
This means, you guys, i9506 users MAY NOT be able to use my CyanogenMod due to incompatibilities between 4.3 and 4.4 kernels & bootloaders.
I'll still upload it for E330 users but, i9506 users, flash it at your own risk!!
- UPDATE 5 -
Got mpdecision working.
This was the easiest thing to solve so far
- UPDATE 6 -
No, mpdecision will break after a bit running time.
Replaced from the kernel with intelli_plug from faux123
- UPDATE 7 -
CyanogenMod team has just pushed massive updates to hlte related to graphics and RIL.
I'm curious to see if the new RIL stuffs can help me solve telephony issues with S4 LTE-A, but the graphics is completely broken and doesn't works beyond March's nightlies.
I'll spend the next few days try to catch up hlte kernel source's graphics stuffs(which seems extremely hard).
- UPDATE 8 -
Fully merged all graphics drivers from CyanogenMod to S4 LTE-A.
Now, this has solved video studdering issue from UPDATE 4 and should provide better graphics performance overall now that we have a full, upstream-maintained, opensource hwcomposer implementation
Now digging in to RIL...
- UPDATE 9 -
Somehow, after merging graphics drivers, In-call audio is working...?
Confused, but still very good to have more stuffs working
Call receiving on LTE is still left to be solved...
- UPDATE 10 -
No progress on solving incoming calls...
I'd rather release despite the error..
<Unable-to-receive-incoming-calls-via-LTE error is only specific to e330s/e330k with 4.4 KitKat radio&bootloader. Which MAY mean everyone else(i9506) may not have this error and ready for daily driver out-of-the-box>
Can anyone confirm e330s kernel is compatible with i9506?

sailfish os

Hi to y'all.
Anyone has the capacity to Port sailfish os for our awesome device. It might be wonderful!!!
It has been done!
EDIT: Check out the development thread HERE
I realise this thread is quite old now, but I don't have enough posts/thanks to create a new one in op6 development section.
I've been porting SFOS to the OnePlus 6 for a few months and have a relatively stable release now if you're interested. Check it out on my GitHub: github dot com/sailfish-oneplus6/sf-enchilada/releases
Currently the only major issue is that it's currently not possible to mark the boot as successful and so every 5 boots the phone will switch slots. For the most part it is usable to daily drive, I've had minimal crashes.
Please let me know what you think.

Post away so you can create a development thread! This is great work ... I know others would be interested in your work. Thanks again.

Thank you!
I'm really excited to get community feedback and hopefully kickstart more development for sailfish os in general!

Hey! You are bad! I loooove Sailfish and you only now say that this exists?:crying::crying:
I love this build, everything is smooth and works well! Almost a daily driver material:good:
Never thought I'd use Sailfish again...!
Love your work and I hope that you continue to build this!
Thank you!
(edit) There seems to be a lag while wakeup sometimes present. Other then that, pretty much everything seems to be working well....

Thank you! I didn't want to post it here until I had something that I thought was good enough for people to use.
I think I know what you mean about the lag, I plan on doing a lot of kernel optimisations which will hopefully help combat this. if you felt like creating an issue on GitHub and including some logs that would be very much appreciated! github dot com/sailfish-oneplus6/sf-enchilada/issues/new/choose.
New update
Hi all, someone has just solved the issue with bootctl, it doesn't seem super important but it now means that I can mark the boot as successful, preventing the bootloader from switching to your other slot after 5 reboots. This is the big milestone I've needed to make a stable release.
I've also fixed the clock patch, the next release will have the clock on the left next to the battery percentage.

Will hopefully be able to make a post in the development section soon.
