Zoom out, put your thumbs together so that they will touch each other and hold it.

That is so weird. IT moves all over the place. Maybe because thumbs are further apart? No problems with two fingers. Weird

No issues here. Check mine.
Maybe it is the pre-installed protection glass?
Same issue here. You can test it with a multi touch tester app. You will see the two touches merging into one and then splitting in two, and that goes on and on.
My guess is that a firmware update might solve this, but OnePlus should really be informed.
OP would you mind submitting a bug report through the Community app?
I'll do
Edit: done
Edit 2: it is not the pre-installed protection glass
Same here. I found out that is related to some electrostatic issue when touching the bottom of the device. Otherwise this won't happen. Let me know.
EDIT: confirmed, even without touching the bottom. Can you link the bugreport?

For the record, i am experiencing the exact same problem. More details here. Waiting for a fix.
I don't have a screen protector installed.

This is exactly what I experience. Touching the bottom of the phone at the same time as I touch the screen will give me these issues.
Same here what production date are your devices? Mine is 2019.06.03

I'm convinced that the screen is slightly out of calibration - but I can see no way to reset the calibration. (I'm ex WinMo!) - it must be in there somewhere - or do i need "an app for that".
Advice appreciated
G.
I was also thinking this. Unfortunately I still have not bought the phone yet, or I would of tried creating an app to test this theory. If a touch can be captured in x/y data, we could see what the problem is with the bottom row keys.

The more I use the phone, I'm starting 2 think that the screen is not so much out of calibration, but is very sensitive 2 the angle that U touch the screen. when I use 2 hands 2 use the phone, It seems 2 always respond correctly
cause my finger is touching straight down, but if I use 1 hand and try 2 reach
across the it responds off a lil at times. 2 solve this I put the phone 2 the end of my
fingers and secure it as far from my thumb as possible. awkward at first 4 me be it responds correctly when I do. Hope this is clear and helps U. I do have big hands though.

I might know what you are talking about. At times I can't slide home screens when using the phone with one hand and it can get very annoying, but I blame myself rather than this wonderful phone.
I also remember my wife using the phone while it was flat on the desk and it would not respond properly, but as soon as it was picked up and did the same procedures it would work properly. We were thinking that It may have something to do with the angle of the phone and our fingers on the screen. Dont really know I just know how to get it working.
Have you guys rooted and enabled multi-touch?
If not, are you sure this isn't to do with the lack of multi-touch. On my N1 I have the same problem when using it with one hand. And I've noticed it's because part of my palm sometimes touches the screen as I'm holding the phone. As theres no multi-touch it won't register what I'm selecting with my thumb until my palm stops touching the screen.
At first I suspected it was an issue with the screen responsiveness/calibration aswell. Because as you try and tap with your thumb a few times, eventually you move your palm and it works.
However, then I took a closer look everytime it happened, and noticed part of my palm was always touching the screen.
Obviously this doesn't happen when you use two hands as usually you will then hold the phone with your fingertips, not by wrapping your hand around it.

Dude, thanks for using your first post on us.
I think you are correct about the palm touching the screen. I have rooted and installed the modaco custom ROM, but I have not installed anything else for multi-touch. I will definitely look into this, thanks.

No problem.
Coming from an iPhone it was not something I ever thought about, so was quite releaved when I figured out why it was happening.
Was on here looking for widgets when I spotted this so thought I'd register and save you scratching your head trying to figure it out like I did.
Lots of stuff to love about the phone, especially the battery life which I'm really impressed with and hadn't even expected to be a plus point over the 3GS. This was just supposed to be a stop gap until the iPhone 4G, but I'm actually thinking I may stick with it now

If you stick with it then welcome to android.
If you don't then you just need to have fun with this phone.
I've been finding ways around the major niggles I had over the last couple of weeks. So it's looking promising that I won't be splashing out for another iPhone in June/July.
It helps that my brother has one and I've had some time to play with it and get everything the way I want it. Which is part of the reason I got it now. If it had been during a really busy period (work wise), i'd probably be back on the 3GS.
Lately (since oreo i believe), a lot of phones affected by this weird bug. When you touch the screen, and move your finger really slowly, the OS ignores that slight accurate movement. After a couple of milimeters movement, it then recognize the movement, creating a sudden jump in detection .
It is not a sensitivity issue, because right after you touch the screen, it detects your finger. But the OS maybe choose to disregard that slight accurate movement as accidental.
In my experience, the same thing occurs in Sony XZ2, P20 Pro (now fixed since 120 firmware), in smaller extent in Mix 2s, and yes in OP6 as well (alo not as pronounced but definitely there).
Most users wont be aware of this issue, but avid fps gamers who needs accurate aiming might be troubled in getting their frags.
Check out these videos, one is of oneplus 6, and the other one as a comparison pixel 2 xl with almost zero deadzone.

Anyone else experiencing this "problem"? Still experiencing it on 5.1.6 ..
Huawei recognized this problem and fixed it. So this bug is definitely fixable.

Just test it with the multi-touch app and i can see it too.
But honestly, I was not aware of the issue. I didn't notice a thing in normal use.
Have you reported this to OP?

Yes under normal daily use it is definitely not noticeable..
Btw, how to report to OP? Oneplus forums?
I have it as well,
Mine is very annoying because every content that I wanna see is very frustrating because every tiny bit of a swipe makes the page go down or up a lot and fast
Is there any fix to that?

No one else have an issue with is? Or not a lot of pubg gamers around here?
no issues with pubg here, maybe the custom kernel fixes the issue? not sure but its really responsive with me on blu_spark

if you touch, hold, slowly slide your thumb to aim, will it follow instantly? Or does it have slight delay until it recognize your precise movement?
just a shot in the dark , But try disabling pocket mode under advance see if that makes a difference.
There are numerous people reporting ghost touches, however I am not one of those people.
Instead, I'm dealing with ghost scrolling...
If I'm scrolling through Twitter for example, randomly, my device will scroll up or down insanely fast, and will scroll quite the distance as well.
I've tried the workaround of disabling NFC but the issue is still there.
Just curious if anyone else has this issue and knows of a fix? I was tolerating it for a while but now it's beginning to become a little too annoying...
I have this in youtube occasioanlly
I have this happening as well in multiple apps. Disabling NFC has not helped.

Probably most likely accidental edge touches with your palm grabbing the scroll bar on the curved edge? Don't have my 7 Pro yet but I get this every now and then on my Note9.
None here since my case positions my hand far enough away from unwanted touches. ?

Hmm, haven't thought of this actually. I will actively keep my palm away from the edge and see if the issue persists or not.
Thanks for the suggestion!

Update on this,
I made sure there were no accidental touches yet the super fast and abrupt scrolling issue is still there
Hopefully OnePlus can fix this in a future update.
I'm still dealing with this issue on 9.5.7
Still present on 9.5.8
Seems like other users are reporting the same but others are surprised hearing about it. Makes me think it's a hardware issue.
I get it on Google maps if i zoom in or out. The screen will pan way right after i take my fingers off the screen

O right. Never experienced it before on any device, including my previous OP phones
I noticed that when typing, (doesn't matter which keyboard) when I press the keyboard side keys, E.G. "P" or "L" they lag a tiny bit and when long-pressing, they take longer to recognize the keys.
Am I the only one noticing the glitch on the sides of the screen?
I've gotten two devices, and tested a demo model at Best buy and I found the same issue on all three.
It isn't that bad but I'd love to figure it out
Mine doesn't seem to have this problem even with a tg screen protector, i'll check at my local best buy to see if their demo model has the same problem whenever i have the chance.

I know this thread is old and dead but I noticed this too and personally I think it could be a bug/feature of Gboard, thinking like palm rejection on a laptop, it has that slight delay to reduce false inputs from your fingers touching the screen just holding the phone.
It might be worth it to try a different keyboard.
Using Hacker's Keyboards here. I noticed it with the A key. I have a theory that Moto Gestures is catching the signal first and then releasing after ms.
Ever since upgrading to Android 11.0, immediate issue has been the sensitivity of the touch screen.
Scrolling up and down will randomly select a link or an item on the page i was scrolling. This seems really evident when you open Google when you scroll all the way to the left. Start scrolling up and down and see if you get errant presses. Seems to be happening a lot on the right hand side of the display where the touches get inaccurate.
I'll be really frank here.... Google sucks at testing and pushing stable updates...

Got my 11 update this afternoon and have been playing with the phone since. Updated all apps that were available to update, then shut down the phone and restarted. Haven't noticed what you are talking about at all. Just went into Google, as you mentioned, and haven't seen any issues. Will keep an eye on it; but my first thought is if there is an installed app causing issues....

I tried the beta last week and this happened to me. I have to go back to 10 and reinstall everything. I might wait a week or so for others to respond before I trust 11 again.
I found out that they made changes to pixel 4 related to touch sensitivity (making it more aggressive). Wondering if that is what's affecting it.
Just upgraded my 4a to 11 today and I'm having the same issue. Also noticed it on the launcher...long press on an app to drag it just immediately opens the app. Just trying to type this post is a struggle. Touch sensitivity and accuracy is all messed up.
Clearly Google has an issue on their hands. Guess will need to escalate this to tech journalists so that they do something about it
Not having this issue. On A10 I felt touch and especially navigation swipes were a tad insensitive relative to other devices. On several occasions I contemplated regressing to 3-button navigation (ugh). A11 fixed that making navigation feel natural again. No problem with taps - yet.
Right/left swipe sensitivity can be controlled in settings on A11. Left mine at default.
Stock 4a w/Nova Prime. Spigen armor case (slightly raised edges). No screen protector.
This issue is getting reported a bunch on www.reddit.com/r/Pixel4a. I personally had the issue pop up a few weeks ago after I installed 11 beta 3. Downgrading back to 10 fixed it.
Some people have said the issue goes away if you remove your screen protector but obviously that isn't the real solution if your phone was working fine prior to the update.
I just posted this question lol i wish i seen your post before. Im dealing w same issue, kind of feel better at least knowing im not the only one dealing with it lol
I think all the touch problems are related to Google Assistant, this app is just too busy messing things up. I use Nova, turned the Assistant off but it was still showing up with a prompt/notification on the bottom telling me to turn it on. So I have disabled the entire Google app and I don't see the Assistant anymore, all is good. Google Play, Pay, Maps etc..., the things I need they all stay intact. And btw, I don't use screen protector.

The only issue I've found is that they seemed to have changed the swipe logic on the homescreen launcher, it acts like it's looking for a slightly different gesture. My muscle memory for quickly accessing overview had to be tweaked slightly, but I've gotten used to it.
I'm not noticing other issues with screen sensitivity. I have an OtterBox Commuter case and the "OMOTON" glass screen protector on my 4a. I adjusted the back swipe sensitivity because the lip of my case is fairly large but that's it.
I'm sorry to hear there have been issues with this

I'm assuming you're using a screen protector?
Try the new touch sensitivity toggle
It helped my touch issues to lower back sensitivity. Using LK brand tempered glass
This issue has been fixed. I think what's troubling is that it was fixed without needing an update... So what dynamic changes are being made within the OS without the need for an OTA update?
edit: nvm its back again. anyone else having touch issues again?
Can confirm. I'm having touch issues every now & then after update to 11.
Reddit has a thread with over 73 responses confirming the issue as well. Still waiting on Google for a fix.
I have same problem and it's so annoying, I also have a screen burn in almost 1cm by 1cmnafter one day of use and volume going up and down on it's own ???

Still no issues here. I am not downplaying those that have this (not at all!) but wonder if an app conflict is part of the cocktail. I do not use Google Assistant which some have implicated. Also have very few apps authorized for screen reading (albeit probably not a factor)
Edit: read on; screen protectors and heat appear to be contributing factors.
Sad to report this issue is NOT yet fixed. It appears to only happen when the phone heats up WITH a screen protector. Just played a game of Risk for about an hour and the problem came back. Just removed my Supershieldz screen protector and the problem is gone. When the phone cools down I'll add the screen protector back and the issue most likely won't come back until the phone heats up again. This never happened on Android 10, so something must have changed with the update. Hopefully it's just a simple software fix and not a hardware issue.
