USB setting reset on reboot - OnePlus 7 Pro Questions & Answers

I searched the forum with just about every possible key word combination I could think of before making this post.
Is there a way to force PTP mode instead of it defaulting back to no data transfer?
It is just a PITA to have to change that every time I am trying to debug something and have to reboot several times.
If it is something obvious, feel free to smack me down, but keep in mind I come from the LG world, and this is my first OP phone.

If you go into developer options, there's a setting to make it default to whatever you choose

That must be a OP thing, I have never seen that before. Thank you very much.

Help This Guy Out

I Was Looking Thru Stuff On Google+, And Saw The Following Post. I Don't Have A Nexus S, But Still, Why Shouldn't I Try, Right? Anyways, I Will Show This Person The Posting If You Guys Have Any Suggestions. Thanks In Advance.
" My Google Nexus S phone got locked due to multiple wrong patterns. Data was off and even USB debug might be off. So, not be able to login to Google ackt. If I can get USB debug turned on somehow, I will be able to unlock the phone by Android Debug bridge.
Anyone has an idea on this?"

Either way, if all else fails, you can bring your cellphone to your carrier and they will reset it for you.
Edit: Sorry if I offended you, it would be easier if the person joined here instead of throwing the ball back and forth. Thanks.

No subliminal racial accusation.
You're from L.A. (I'll imply you can speak and write decent English). Don't include a capital first letter for every word of your sentence.
Don't blame us if we suspect something fishy when your writing is subpar, and subpar writing often comes from not too educated larcenists. You wouldn't be the first nor the last person to try to bypass the security on a cellphone.

And yes, resetting to factory defaults will erase his personal data. That's the security idea, because phones security are not meant to be bypassed for someone to be able to access the user data.
Previously there has been a few ways to workaround the imposed limitations by shoddy ways, but I don't believe they are possible anymore.
If the person is rooted, there is a way.
He can turn off airplane mode by holding down the power button at the lockscreen and then selecting Airplane Mode from the Power Menu

[Q] Hateful GoogleNow won't stay turned off

Hi,
I'm running JB 4.2.
I hate Google Now with a passion, and have been trying to disable it - permanently. I simply want a search bar that returns results in Firefox.I never want to be pestered by GoogleNow's notices, or, especially, its attempts to upsell itself.
I've read dozens of posts here in the forums, and *think* I've tried most advice (uninstalling updates, toggling off, etc).
Atm, in my Google Search settings, Google Now *IS* toggled to off.
But, every time I click on the search/quicksearch widget bar to enter something, GoogleNow pops up forcing me to Click "Next" several times, then gives me only two options "Later" or "I'm in".
I want to effectively implement a "Never" option.
How do I make GoogleNow go away, and stay away?
Someone correct me if I'm wrong due to I have not rooted my s4 as of yet but rooting your phone is the only possible way that I can think of and this is not confirmed but know just about everything can be removed via a rooted phone. ....

My phone *is* rooted.
I can make any changes that need to be made.
The problem is finding the right change that works AND sticks.
Try:
ZDbox
its a great tool. look for it at the play store.
its, as far as i know, create offical from xda (or here at xda forum)
I use it on my S3, and you can do alsmost anything with this tool.
just give it a try

How do I get "do not disturb" in quick settings?

I remember shortly after getting my Nexus 5 that I noticed a hand icon in quick settings for do not disturb setting..
I went to use it the other day and it had disappeared. I had unlocked and rooted and also flashing custom kernel.
So as I couldn't find any setting to re enable, and suspecting it might have been something I had done, I downloaded Google nexus 5 image and reflashed to stock, but still no joy .
Any advice ?

I don't remember seeing anything like this, as I recall. But I am disappointed that the Quick Settings are not really all that quick. Tapping things like Bluetooth or Wifi takes you to the full settings page for that feature instead of simply toggling it on and off as I usually am trying to do.

If you hold the icon instead of clicking it, it turns on the radio. For example, pressing WiFi takes you to the WiFi settings page, but long holding the icon will just turn it on. Same for BT.
As for the Do not Disturb, I've never seen that. I know iOS has it...and I'm sure there are Google Play apps to do something similar, but Android doesnt have that stock.
Sadly it doesn't exist in stock android. They really have to add that. Every other platform has it except stock android.
EDIT: Yes, I know touchwiz and sense have it.

Thanks. It makes me wonder though how the "average" person is ever supposed to learn little things like this -- certainly not intuitive IMO.
Mystery solved, just realised that I had switched back to my HTC One with a leaked version of sense 5.5

I found that you can press the power button and from that menu you can set the volume to vibrate or mute. Not sure if this is what you were looking for.
Thankfully custom ROMs will be here soon (in more complete/stable forms) to make all of these annoying issues better. Stock Android lacks some seriously useful little touches, but that's why we got unlocked devices....

[Q] [CM 10.2] Why does this version allow me to mount USB with phone locked?

Seems like a security flaw. Anyone can pick up my phone, plug it into a USB port and copy files within seconds. Normally, you'd have to at least have to reboot into recovery, which requires a forced reboot and knowing the proper keys to do that and to enter recovery. As it stands now, even a child could plug in my phone and access the entire SD card.
It's also annoying that if I plug in the phone to my PC to charge while I'm listening to music on it, I don't get the lock screen where I have music controls. I instead get the USB mounting screen. I just have to press the Home key to show the lock screen, but it's been bugging me.
Is there any way to disable this? It wasn't this way in CM 10.1.
Go back to an earlier version of Android, or don't lose your phone.

Your useless answer is unappreciated. I asked two simple questions and you answered neither.
The fact is you can't disable it. The answers I gave are perfectly valid if you don't want want the ability to mount the sd card via the lockscreen. If you're allowing your phone to get into a position where someone can access it like that then what I'm saying is maybe you need to reassess the level of personal security in regards to the device.

>The fact is you can't disable it.
Now that is an appropriate answer. Thank you.
The main topic question was "why?" Why this change in behavior? What's the philosophy behind it?
I'm sorry but I don't know why they changed it like that.
Sent from my Evita
I remember CM9 behaving like this in certain versions, but then it went away, and I never had it in any CM10 versions until now. It's like the developers can't decide how they want it, or it's some sort of mistake or bug.
It isn't the fault of developers here, I believe you can thank Google for that feature.
Sent from my Evita
If you want it to not be like that, go and decompile some file and change the permissions.
Speaking of Google, I'm excited for the new Selinux policy from the NSA researcher. It'll be fun to see ChainFire at it

Developer Options

Helol everybody! I just got me one them Galaxy Note 4 doohickys and I'm new to HTML so excuse my ignorance, now....
I'm attempting to turn down the animation scale, if not turn it off completely. My phone is extremely slow and always has been to be quite honest. Turning down the animations makes it far snappier.
I got into developer options and turned the animations off although when you turn developer options off your new settings go with it.
Is there a way I may keep the developer options I set? Or may I turn the animations off completely another way? Is it bad to keep the developer options on and go about regularly using my phone?
You can go onn with develloper option onn and device will jot get any problem....
Leave them on and touch nothing but the animation settings

You can touch or change every thing. They are not mentbto brick or damage your device. They are for developers those who want to test any mood applied to system. To check that how the system respond when any mood is dlashes on it.
A handy thing
If you are planming to root.
In developers option tick the usb debugging.
Its always use full
Thanks guys. I've gone ahead and left the options on for now. I'll keep you updated as to what happens.
