OOS 9.0.5 WiFi is super slow - OnePlus 6 Questions & Answers

I have 100/10 from my ISP. Directly after booting the router and I connect to it over 2.4GHZ, I get about 70/10 on my phone which is good. If I switch to 5.0GHZ, I get 95/10 but worse range and now when its summer, I tend to relax in my garden so I use 2.4GHZ for better range. However, a few minutes after booting the router, my 2.4 speeds slow down to about 0.6/0 Mb/s instead. Rebooting the router/phone/restarting WIFI on phone restores my speed to 70/10 for a short while sometimes before slowing down again.
Anyone experience this issue? As I wrote 5.0GHZ seems to work better, but it too can slow down sometimes to 0.5Mb/s for now reason. I have tried setting "keep scanning on always" to both on and off and using wifi mods from NoLimits.

Had the same problem, after installing xxxnolimits via magisk my WiFi came back to normal speeds

Shaky Wi-Fi

I've noticed that my WiFi connection is unstable regardless of which ROM I'm using. I'm sitting less than 10 feet from my router and the signal is excellent yet my Fuze WiFi won't connect...I can't update 2.1 weather, can't open a page in Opera and IE.
Anyone out there with a solid WiFi connection every time they use it? Which ROM are you on? What are your settings/edits?
I'm desperate to find a solution to this since having a built in WiFi is one of the perks of the Fuze. And I don't want to be held hostage by AT$T ridiculous data plan.
i'm using EnergyRom Jan 27th build 21889. I've never had any problems with wifi for any EnergyRom builds i use. I don't really set anything up, i just turn wifi on, and just enter the WPA passkey and it's done, it's only a one time setup, everytime i turn wifi on it'll automatically connect.
There are tools like Wifi Monster etc that can show you the strength of the wifi signal, as well as tools that gives you options to set up an advanced profile (I think it's called Wifi Profile).......
do a search for Wifi in PPCWarez and you'll find what you need.

Thanks for the reply. I'm also on EnergyRom Jan 27th build 21889....I've actually been an avid follower of NRG Roms but have never had a consistent WiFi connection. I really don't know where I'm going wrong. I've been using the same WiFi for the past 3 years. I didn't have WiFi connection problems with RoMeo's Rom on my Tilt or on my Hermes. Just would like to have a dependable WiFi connection. I'm pretty sure it's not the Rom..just curious if I had things configured properly.
I am also having problems with the Wi-Fi connection on my HTC Touch Pro. It is very unstable and unreliable -it flies for 10-20 seconds, and then hangs. The problem persists with different routers. I am using the stock HTC ROM.
Performance Mode
Hi guys,
have yo tried switching WiFi mode from "Battery Saving" to "Performance"?
Start/Setting/Connections/Wifi icon
The same wi fi problem for me: it recognizes the network, it asks for the pass, but it doesn't connect.
i'm two meters from the router... any suggestion?
Try...
Change your wifi settings to preformance first.
Things that affect WiFi not particular to your phone:
1. Bluetooth on and active (same frequencies) on your phone as well as others
2. Other Routers (esp. if you live in an apartment)
3. Running Microwaves ovens
4. Other RF devices in the 2.4GHz range. (i.e. wireless keyboards, mice, novelty devices, etc.)
The only step to do is change your router at home to another channel and try again. If you are connecting outside your home, then you are at the mercy of the provider.

WiFi Unstable Issues

Anyone having problems with WiFi? My phone seems to easily disconnect from WiFi with the excuse of "Avoided poor internet connection". And it seems to have become worse after the v15e update. My phone is the H959 model from Singapore.

Give us some more info
Whats your router?
You are connected at 2.4 or 5ghz?
Are your channels congested? Try to find a better channel using wifi analyser

It happens on any network. I was on holiday in the US, and it kept dropping the connection. I thought it was just because hotel WiFi are just ****ty in general, but it happened at home and at work too.
The WiFi at home is an ASUS RT-AC68U, and I'm connected to the 5 GHz channel, and channel congestion is not a problem. 2.4 GHz is congested a lot, but the disconnect happens on both 2.4GHz and 5GHz. Most of the time, I would pick up the phone, and try to access a website and it would take forever. After a while it would say "Internet connection unavailable at *wifi name*". Then after a reconnect it usually works, and loads the page instantly.
At work, I'm wearing an Android Wear watch and installed the network change notifier, so every 10 minutes or so, my watch would tell me that I have disconnected from the WiFi and after 5 minutes it will connect back again... Signal strength is excellent, channel congestion is horrible, but it shouldn't disconnect that many times.

My house WiFi is an ASUS RT-AC68U, and I'm connected to the 5 GHz channel, and the channel is pretty much clear. 2.4 GHz is congested a lot, but it happens on mostly any network.

You seem to have a good rooter. With all my >snapdragon 800 phones and tablets wifi works perfect .
Connection between phone and router is 433mbps. Before you hard reset your phone try to change channel . And try to keep your connected devices at minimum 2 or 3. You can also try pseudo static ip instead of dhcp

All my other devices, be it computers, tablets, older phones, do not have this problem. The problem I face is really similar to this thread below:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/g-flex2/help/wifi-woes-t3197144
I suspect it is due to a setting that is found in KitKat to "Avoid poor connections" but that is not found here. When doing a speedtest.net I can get 200+ mbps, so speed is not a problem. My phone just doesn't like to stay connected... Probably will try a hard reset, just need to backup my data.

slow internet speed and high jitter with Bluetooth on

I'm on ob15 locked bootloader, I was on rooted havoc before this, tried multiple kernels too, I notice unusual jitter and ping as well as low bandwidth on wifi speed test whenever my Bluetooth is on, as soon as I switch it off and do the speed test the results are normal. sometimes the difference is less but sometimes I get less than half the speed which is a major problem. any one else facing the same?
I've done factory reset including complete data format, that doesn't solve the problem
Bluetooth uses the same frequencies as 2.4ghz wifi. Try changing the 2.4ghz channel on your router, or even better, switch to 5ghz.

Wifi Hotspot tethering disconnect when moving through congested spectrum

Hi there,
I have a Pixel 3 and my laptop randomly disconnects from the wifi hotspot, when I am moving through areas with high wireless congestion. I used a Redmi Note 4 with LineageOS before and did not have that problem. It only happens when I am on the train and I also see lots of messages like this in the logs of the laptop:
wlp2s0: CTRL-EVENT-SIGNAL-CHANGE above=1 signal=-38 noise=9999 txrate=650000
And especially this one:
wlp2s0: CTRL-EVENT-CHANNEL-SWITCH freq=5200 ht_enabled=1 ch_offset=-1 ch_width=80 MHz cf1=5210 cf2=0
wlp2s0: CTRL-EVENT-CHANNEL-SWITCH freq=2457 ht_enabled=1 ch_offset=0 ch_width=20 MHz cf1=2457 cf2=0
Often times, the laptop seems to be able to follow the channel changes, but sometimes it doesn't. I continuously ping the ip of the Pixel 3 (which, btw. switches, every time I activate the hotspot, within the 192.168.43 subnet, I had 192.168.43.81, 192.168.43.35, 192.168.43.60, ...). The laptop still shows it's connected, but the ping to the phone fails.
Those frequency changes even jumps bands. Initially I would be in the 5Ghz band, but the Pixel 3 would switch to the 2.4Ghz band during operation. Presumably, because the 5Ghz band is too busy. I believe the disconnects (which aren't really detected by the network manager of the laptop) are connected to the channel changes, since I usually see a message for a channel change in the logs around the time I lose connectivity.
The options in the hotspot dialogue are very limited. Thus I was able to try all combinations, except for turning off encryption.
I am currently using Android 9 Pie, since we are getting 10 Q soon, maybe it will be better.
The laptop is running Debian GNU/Linux 10, but the wifi chip is fairly old (Intel Corporation Wireless 7265) and well supported, so I don't expect that to be the issue. I am also thinking about filing a bug with network-manager for failing to detect the loss of connectivity, but since I did not have the issue with the Redmi Note, I am also looking at the Pixel 3 as a potential way to fix this issue for me.
Are there more options hidden or other accessible, such as turning off the channel switches
I am now running Android 10 and still have the same issue, unfortunately. I also presented this issue over at the Google support forums:
https://support.google.com/pixelphone/thread/14799895?hl=en
So far, no solution.

(SOLVED) wifi speed slow unless I turn on airplane and then turn on wifi

wifi not using connection to router unless I turn on airplane mode in phone.
see EDIT at bottom of this post...
LG Stylo 4 Plus, stock ROM, no mods.
router is SBR-AC1750, connected to comcast @ 200Mb
in router, set up wifi connection over 2.4Ghz called xxx
In phone connect to xxx.
Ookla speed test app says maybe 5Mbps - about what I would get OTA.
Turn on airplane mode,
re-turn on wifi connection to xxx.
Ookla says 37-40Mbps.
What am I doing wrong.
It is as if it is using/trying to use OTA, - even though the SIM is removed for this test!!!
Acts the same way with SIM in.
Note, addy the same in wifi/advanced in either situation, but when in airplane mode, phone will see somebody's samsung, and my roku.
Behaviour seemed similar on one of my Moto X4's though I didn't pursue it endlessly.
Mod move if necessary but there is no appropriate Stylo 4 forum and nobody on the X4 forum would know. BTDT.
EDIT: I just changed from the 2.4G to 5Gbps router output and (without airplane mode) speed was 137Mbps. ASTOUNDING!! - so I can use this and yes, this is a fix(normal use range is about 2'), but wish I understood why it is so slow/problematic on 2.4G ???
EDIT2: I played with settings in router for 2.4Ghz and used g,n and 40Mb and improved things (Ookla) to about 30Mbps, but switched back to 5Ghz and immediately got 105Mbps. So I don't understand it but I will mark this solved.
Thanks all.
