WiFi Unstable Issues - LG G Flex 2

Anyone having problems with WiFi? My phone seems to easily disconnect from WiFi with the excuse of "Avoided poor internet connection". And it seems to have become worse after the v15e update. My phone is the H959 model from Singapore.

It happens on any network. I was on holiday in the US, and it kept dropping the connection. I thought it was just because hotel WiFi are just ****ty in general, but it happened at home and at work too.
The WiFi at home is an ASUS RT-AC68U, and I'm connected to the 5 GHz channel, and channel congestion is not a problem. 2.4 GHz is congested a lot, but the disconnect happens on both 2.4GHz and 5GHz. Most of the time, I would pick up the phone, and try to access a website and it would take forever. After a while it would say "Internet connection unavailable at *wifi name*". Then after a reconnect it usually works, and loads the page instantly.
At work, I'm wearing an Android Wear watch and installed the network change notifier, so every 10 minutes or so, my watch would tell me that I have disconnected from the WiFi and after 5 minutes it will connect back again... Signal strength is excellent, channel congestion is horrible, but it shouldn't disconnect that many times.

My house WiFi is an ASUS RT-AC68U, and I'm connected to the 5 GHz channel, and the channel is pretty much clear. 2.4 GHz is congested a lot, but it happens on mostly any network.

You seem to have a good rooter. With all my >snapdragon 800 phones and tablets wifi works perfect .
Connection between phone and router is 433mbps. Before you hard reset your phone try to change channel . And try to keep your connected devices at minimum 2 or 3. You can also try pseudo static ip instead of dhcp

All my other devices, be it computers, tablets, older phones, do not have this problem. The problem I face is really similar to this thread below:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/g-flex2/help/wifi-woes-t3197144
I suspect it is due to a setting that is found in KitKat to "Avoid poor connections" but that is not found here. When doing a speedtest.net I can get 200+ mbps, so speed is not a problem. My phone just doesn't like to stay connected... Probably will try a hard reset, just need to backup my data.

Nexus S Wifi bug !! help !!

hello
i use wifi through connectify virtual wifi from my pc
whenever my phone is idle or i dint use wifi for an hour or so the network becomes disabled ( i can use wifi on other devices) when i connect it shows connecting but does not connect and wifi becomes not in range even if i am standing next to my wifi router
and now its not even connecting to the wifi even if i reset my wifi ... i also have restarted my phone not working helllpppp !!!
and the wifi sleep policy is set to never
my device - nexus s i9020t
android 2.3.6 gingerbread
pls some1 help !!
Have you restarted your router?
I know you said everything else is working, but give it a try anyway.
I have the same problem...Please help
yes i restarted my router n every thing !! but i cant get it to work
I had a similar problem once, but luckily it was during a session of me messing with my router settings. I live in an apt building, TONS of other routers here, so the frequencies are all crowded.
Do this...
Get this app for your phone:
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.farproc.wifi.analyzer
Find the best channel available for your wireless network (you don't need to be connected to the internet or your router for this). In your router settings set your wifi to that channel (should be the least congested, the app will tell you which channel number). Hopefully that will help.
Also, if possible, set your wifi to only use 20MHz instead of 40MHz if it's in the 2.4GHz range, otherwise you're just causing the same problems for your neighbors. Be a good wireless neighbor!
Oh yeah, and update your router's firmware too, older firmwares are sometimes not fully compliant to wifi standards, it might help your connection issues! Also, use WPA2-AES encryption. WPA2 because it's the most secure right now (for personal uses anyway) and AES because most devices can do AES in hardware, so it's faster and uses less battery (plus I believe the higher end 802.11n speeds recommend that encryption for top speeds).

[Q] Wi-Fi not working. Am I the only one?

Okay, a little about my setup. I have tested on Slim ICS 2.7, 2.9; Codename Android 1.4, 1.5.5; as well as AOKP (I dont know exact builds, but am on the latest now - build 28). I have a Cradlepoint MBR 1000 which is a b/g/n 4g router (though I only have cable hooked up - was bought originally to allow me to broadcast my Clear 4g service, but Clear doesnt work where I live now).
EVO 3D, iPhone 4s, All my laptops, HeroC, Kyocera Echo, Roku...I mean everything connects to my Wi-Fi EXCEPT my NS4G...WTH?
Does anyone else have this issue?...could it be some settings with the N router?...I cant believe everything but this phone works.
Please help. It is so frustrating to be limited to 3g that works intermittently while I am at home. I have all my apps from the Google Play backed up to my sdcard so I dont have to connect to install them...it is a huge pain. Thanks in advance
Need some more description. What settings do you have on the router, how have you tried to connect, does it connect then drop out, can you see the network at all, etc?
Either your phones wifi hardware is gone or your house.
So here's what you can do to narrow down on the problem.
Tell me if you can connect to any other wifi hotspots outside your house. If it does connect then problem is router if it doesn't than problem is with the phone.
Good luck.

Not necessarily. Setup of each router can change in numerous ways so as to stop certain devices from working, as can certain phone settings not allow connecting to certain routers. It is not quite so black and white, and we already know the router works.

Sounds like a channel setting problem. Easiest way is to open up your router config and change the channel between 1 and 12 and this shouldn't happen again. Alternatively you could mess around with your build.prop.
Harbb is right, you might want to test several things within your router:
Change channels (use 1, 6 or 11-12)
Set it to only use on b/g connections (don't use n)
Different authentication methods (WPA2 with AES, etc)
And make sure you don't have a limit on your DHCP settings (just to make sure you don't have a ton of devices connected so it's not handing more IPs) or MAC filter.
Okay, sorry for not replying sooner. I posted this, then went to bed.
@Harbb:
It does see the network, lets me connect, put in the password, and says it is connected. It always says the connection is poor when I know it should be a good connection. The phone then shows the wifi icon and up and down arrows inside of the icon...I never see a portion of blue. When I try to download from the market, it will act like it is working, then the icon will disappear/reappear numerous times before it tell me there is not a connection.
As for my router setup. I do not know what information will help in this but here is some info: I do not have MAC filtering on, WISH is active (dont use it), WPA2 Only Personal AES (this is what I use), Channel 6 (I have tried channel 11 because I read somewhere the Wii needed 1 or 11 or one of my devices needed it), Transmission rate is Best, Channel is Auto 20/40 MHz, Mixed b/g/n (to utilize N and G, it has to be on this setting, there isn't an option for Mixed n/g), it is set on 192.168.0.x, NetBIOS mode type is Mixed (Broadcast then Point to Point).
@shockem I have not tested it with any other hotspot to see if it is just a problem with that router and this phone. I will try if I can find an open hotspot and let you know.
@Billchen0014 It does detect the network and connects, but drops it constantly...I cant even download a <1MB file from the market.
@Harbb (2) Going by your advice to daviki...it looks like I need to check another router. I go by a Starbucks, so I will try their hotspot...unless it isn't free, then Ill look around.
Thanks everyone who is helping me with this.
@Oogway, I will try G only and see what happens...if I use Mixed it has to be g/b or b/g/n. As for DHCP there is only 2 maybe 3 devices connected and No MAC filtering
Could it be the Wifi country code issue?
Is that something on the phone? Also, I tested different channels (1, 6, 11) as well as b/g and g only. Still no go.

Thanks for the info. Test another hotspot (preferably one with a wpa2 password too if possible) and let us know. I'll reply later with some things to try as I gotta get going.
Okay, I did test one more thing. I sat right next to the router and it had full bars. Stayed full and my speed tests were great. Moved to where I sit on the couch about 30 walking steps away and no connection. I know the signal reaches because it is where I use laptops and other devices. The PS3 and Wii are further away and have no issue. It is not a clear path, but there aren't any doors between the router and the couch.
Just some more info...leading me to believe it is an issue with the phone. I get horrible service with Sprint also, so it may be connected. I don't know.
Any ideas? Is it just because of how far away I am?
Again, thanks everyone for the help. It has been so frustrating ever since I got the phone.
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using XDA
Wifi Analyzer can give you a dB reading on the signal strength if you'd like to try that from a distance too. Wifi at uni likes to show low bars quite often, however alot of the time i have great signal and it shows through wifi analyzer. May not be related since uni is a peap connection, but worth a shot anywho. Might give another hint on whether you should seek out warranty or router settings.

Bluetooth disconnects WiFi

Whenever I am actively using bluetooth, my WiFi connection disconnects. I can see my network, but when I try to manually tell it to connect, it disappears, along with most other nearby routers. I had the same thing happen intermittently with my Samsung Captivate. Any ideas? Otherwise I haven't had any of the WiFi or Bluetooth issues others have had.
Thanks.

Both occupy the 2.4 GHz frequency band, so I'm guessing this is why you're experiencing problems. If you have a router capable of 5GHz you may want to try that to see if it resolves the problem; I run only 802.11n (5GHz) in my house and don't have any problems.

I have a wireless-N router but it's not dual-band. I have it operating in mixed N and G mode with auto channel and 40 MHz channel width. I'll try changing some of these settings to see if that helps.

[Q] Wifi connected, no internet

OK, I've searched Google for weeks and searched the Xoom Q&A, but don't find anything that addresses my problem.
I have a network with one router connected directly to the cable modem. It is called Jaytrenthome. Connected to that via cable is another router in AP mode called JText.
My Xoom connects successfully to both, but only shows blue bars when connected to the JText AP. When connected to Jaytrenthome, it shows Wifi connection, but grey icon indicating no internet connection.
As the routers are on different sides of the house, I need to use both depending on the side of the house I am on.
details about the routers.
Jaytrenthome
WD Mynet N900
2.4 Ghz, WPA2 Personal, 802.11 B+G+N, no selection found to pick AES or TKIP
DHCP active on this router
JText
Netgear WNDR3300
2.4 Ghz, WPA2 PSK (AES), 802.11 N, DHCP turned off, IP address provided by Jaytrenthome
Xoom Details
Xoom Stringray (4G)
Running Baked Stingray rom BB-8
Same problems experienced with EOS and one of the CM variants
4G works flawlessly.
Things I have tried so far.
1. Changing Xoom time update setting to not update automatically.
2. Changing WIFI settings on Jaytrenthome to WPA, WPA2, WEP, etc... with no luck.
3. Turning on the 5 Ghz band of WIFI on Jaytrenthome.
4. Assigning a fixed IP in the Xoom WIFI settings
5. Praying....
Can one of you help from a similar experience?
Thank you!

Are you using the same SSID and password for both the routers?
My Xoom did not like it when I had a router and AP broadcasting using the same SSID (and same password) in my house, although my issue wasn't exactly the same as what you're experiencing. For me, the Xoom had a really hard time staying connected to either of the units if the signal strengths were very similar. The signals seem to fluctuate quite a bit in my house, with the strongest signal bouncing back and forth between the two routers, so I ended up with a lot of disconnects and sometimes a long time to authenticate. I ended up moving one of the routers to a better place in the house and eliminating the second one. I'm now getting more reliable connections, particularly if I use the 5 GHz signal. Ultimately I still think there is something interfering with my 2.4GHz signal though, but I haven't had a lot of time to troubleshoot further....
Fixed!

Sony Xperia XZ Premium WiFi issue

Is anyone here also experiencing the same problem with me?
I found that from time to time, my XZ Premium losses WiFi connection and can't find any hotspot until I turn on then turn off airplane mode, or just restart.
Here are the screenshots form my S7 edge (SM-G935F) and XZ Premium, they were next to each other and very close to the router.
Please help me, thank you.

are you using 5G? if you are, you need to update the wifi channel and band through your router settings. that's what i did with mine and now i don't have that intermittent wifi connection anymore.

Anyone found a solution for this?
Wifi was spotty before the Android 8 update but now it's almost unusable. Every now and again it will just stop showing wifi connections, toggling wifi on and off might show a connection or 2 but it will either disappear or just say "Disabled" when trying to connect to it. Reboot solves it for a little while.
Usually use 2.4Ghz wifi with a variety of router brands.

Happens here on Android 8 as well, quite annoying to be honest. Sometimes drops the connection for no reason, and then when I click on WiFi settings, it doesn't show any connections till I turn WiFi on and off and even then it'll only show 1 SSID, turning it off for a while longer and then turning it back on brings back the rest of them and then it'll connect, but it's stupid how I have to keep doing this every few hours.
I set my 2.4 and 5 GHz bands to different names and join only the 5 GHz, and I don't get drops. On Oreo rooted.
i have xperia xz premium with Oreo 8.0 I encounter the same problems when I'm connected to my wifi, suddenly the data connection is blocked, and when this happens I have to turn off and on the wifi symbol to restore the connection. I do not understand why this happens. My phone is updated to the 47.1.A.5.51 system with November google patches. My modem is Billion Bipac 7800N
So it seems to be a common issue, anyone know if Sony is aware of it?
Where can we complain? It's their damn top of the range phone and it's most basic function isn't working right.

Do a Google search for WiFi and Oreo and you will see that this is affecting multiple cell phones.
Do they all have the 835 chip in them???
I think it is an Oreo issue.
I have no such problems and I have Oreo and the 835.
Try disabling IPv6 on your router.
This is still OS/firmware issue but this temporally fix the issue

I found the solution:
My network works with two devices:
1 ZTE Router (2.4GHz)
1 D-LINK Repeater (2.4GHz)
In the router my XZ Premium works nicely, in the repeater happen exactly what you said, Connect apperars "no internet" after 1 second and wifi on Smartphone is automatically disabled or wifi stay enabled, but says "disabled" on network.
So.. I checked the wlan settings of the two devices in my network exhaustively item by item and I changed the devices settings about 20 times, I and I found that none of the settings matters (wpa or wep, 5Ghz or 2.4Ghz, Bandwidth 20Mhz or 40Mhz, type of network b / g / n, nor channel 1 to 13) just ignore this.
What REALLY MATTERS is a option in the advanced wlan settings, called "Fragment Threshold" this value was at 500, I changed it to the maximum (2346) and my XZ Premium started the connection instantly. Explaining: increasing this value defined that the packet can be up to 2346 bytes before being fragmented, so we deactivate packet fragmentation, reducing overhead and ensuring the best transmission rate possible, so this option determines the size of the frame.
Put simply: Go to advanced Wlan settings, locate "Fragment Threshold" and change to the highest possible value. That worked for me =)
worked for me
1- turn off wifi in being wifi settings ie where you view your wifi networks
2- select "scanning settings". it will show once you have turned your wifi off
3- turn off wifi and bluetooth scanning
4- go back turn wifi back on and enjoy

I know I am reactivating this thread after nearly 3 years of the last post but did anyone find any effective solution to the Wifi issue?
