I did a wm size in adb to check what the default resolution is, and it seems to be in 1080p (21:9 ratio).

This would explain why the battery life is still great. Despite being in 1080p, the display is still very crisp. Crispier than my XZ3.
If I did this wrong, please do correct me!

Do you have the command to enable 4K at all times? Also, do we need to root? It would be good to try I guess.
I wonder if it's possible to enable Super-vivid mode on Sony Xperia 1?
Thanks

Can't remember but it will be in the XZ premium thread somewhere.
You wont notice a difference and the software already knows when 4k is needed

That's fake. You can do it with any phone.
I read the gsmarena review and there's written the screen is always in 4K. I'm wondering where they get this info.

When I screenshot in any app including launcher, it results in 1644x3840 tho.. Previous 4k sony phones produced fullhd images if you ss on launcher
So which info should we refer to? Wmsize on adb or screenshot pixel size?

No.
My XZ Premium screenshots are 2160x3840 png files, and the same for my older Z5 Premium.
That adb system is so suggested from users that many people believe in it, but the true reality was explained by a developer in this forum in "Z5p days". The proof is that you can do that with any phone.
It also explains that 4K screen is completely useless because nobody can spot the difference from fullHD (and I say this while it's since 3 years I'm only using 4K phones)
Using wm size on Xperia 1 results in screen touch area only works in partial, equaling to the scaled screen size, but the text is simply crispier. Anyone knows how to fix the touch area problem?
Do Kindle/Moon Reader etc.. run in 4k or 1080p mode?

I did exactly ./wm size 1644x3840 and yes...unfortunately that is the case where currently we cannot have the phone at 4K all time at this moment.
I'm guessing that Sony did something to the UI touch overlay in order for the side sense detection to work precisely.

Regardless if you use wm size to "force" it in 4k, it's not actually 4k, but just emulating. In order to get native 4K, you have to be on a kernel that supports it.

Since it's pentile display, 4k will still be less blurry than a 2k/FHD, even for 2k/FHD content. Good to know that the GPU is not used all the time for 4k. An dsince I Watch my movies with VLC and photos with Google app, mince will never use 4k xD

BUG FOUNDED FOR 25mbps and more.
Just disable audio on 1080p and you get higher bitrates, anyway the phone can crash or restart with this bug.
WHAT IS NOT WORKING ON RC2
Lower modes than 720P, for now only that, only 15mbps because at higher values 720P 3D and 2D dont work
if you want more bitrate, on 1080P you need to disable audio, and depending of your SD Speed you can get arround 30mbps ( due lack of 2.2 )

are you planning to change the filenames for the captured images?
would be more helpful if the filenames for the pictures used the YYYYMMDD_XXX format or YYYYMMDD_HHMMSS format.

Something kind if big i forgot to mention; video playback in general is broken with this. If u try to watch any youtube video or any videobib general, all you see is a messed up live view of what ever your camera lens is pounting at.
Update: So i rebooted my phone and video playback is fine now. So it probably happens when you try to record in 3D, the camera crashes and messes up videob playback. Just reboot phone

When HTC and Samsung came out with burst camera in their quad core devices we were all excited by one of the camera feature "Burst shot mode"
But now thanks to Spritefish we can now have the same experience on our Android devices and you don't need to have the One X or S3
Fast Burst Camera has made its way onto the Play Store and it does exactly what we were looking for. Simply hold down the button and you can snap up to 30 frames in a single second if your device allows it. The free version works just fine, but has a few ads which can seem intrusive. For $4, you can buy the pro version which unlocks some additional features such as auto-focus and lighting settings. View the video below to see some real life experiences with the application and see if it could help you take some neat shots.
Note : due to the high speed, pictures are not taken in the highest resolution possible.

Great app! Does it take pictures in full quality though?
With that kind of pic resolutions, I might be better off by just shooting a video and extracting those frames manually afterwards.
Used the app on my galaxy note, I am amazed by its ability. Just the image quality needs improvement. I tried the lite version though, anyone see any difference in the pro version?
When I read the portal news piece I was anticipating a tool to take rapid fire full resolution pics. While my G2X doesn't have a dedicated camera processing chip but it is still a dual core Tegra phone. I was disappointed to continue reading and discover it was about an app I've had on my phone for nearly a year. Don't get me wrong, I really like the app but it wasn't what I was expecting. Kinda bummed because the stock ROM camera software was pretty good and could do six photo bursts at 2MB but the ROM sucked monkey balls. Still recommend fast bust camera a long a you have plenty of light.

The burst speed is incredible, no lag but the resolution is very low (800*480 insead of 2000*1600)

Yeah 800*480 with no lag really isn't impressive nowadays and the pictures are useless at that resolution.
Nice app. It would be great if we could adjust the shutter speed manually.

Note that this will give you a bad result, as the video is compressed and ripping pictures from this compressed stream will give pictures with compression artifacts in them.

Hi,
i'am developing an app and finished it for mobile devices. So I got the HDPI files [hdpi, mdpi, xhdpi and xxhdpi] and the original files.
But how do I get the DPI files I need for a tablet version?
For exampel. The [xxhdpi] background graphic is 1080 width and 1920 height.
The [xhdpi] background graphic is 720 width and 1280 height.
The [mdpi] background graphic is 360 width and 640 height.
The [hdpi] background graphic is 540 width and 960 height.
How do I get all graphics I have into the Screensize resolutions [medium, large, etc.] without loosing the proportions?
Is this actualy the correct way?
PS: I read the threat "Supporting Multiple Screens" at developer.android.(com) and its not helping me at all...
You *could* to it the dirty way and just use Paint.NET (their image resizing tool is fabulous), but I'm not sure if this is what you're asking.
A little more clarification, please?

Okay. I'll try.
Like I sad I have that example density's. Its working on Mobile Devices. [hdpi, mhdpi, xhdpi, xxhdpi].
Now I need the same graphics for "Screen Resolution". Their're like this.
xlarge screens are at least 960dp x 720dp
large screens are at least 640dp x 480dp
normal screens are at least 470dp x 320dp
small screens are at least 426dp x 320dp
When I take one side of my "background_graphic" witch is 1080px, put it in photoshop or somewhere and proportinal scale it down to 720px for "xlarge" the side with 1920px won't be 960px cause their aspect ratio is different. So what's happening now is, that it get's distorted when I open my App on the Tablet.
So what I need is a tool or workflow to get my "hdpi" images to the "screen sized" [xlarge, large, normal, small] resolutions without destroying their proportions. And if thats not possible - I feel like it isn't - how should I solve that problem.
In fact I just need to get my graphics work for multiple devices.

Right, that's the problem - unless you remove the "Keep scale proportion" option, it will distort the image if you resize it to a different shape than it originally was.
I believe the only possible way to fix this would be to actually redraw the image in the new screen resolution, instead of trying to just resize it.
Sorry about the difficulty.

Since no one ever mentions HDR support for oneplus 5[T], I've decided to do a guide seeing that the display and snapdragon 835 is very well capable of displaying HDR. Mate 10 supports hdr with a very similar or even the same display. Please note this is limited to youtube, as i dont know any other way to have other apps think oneplus 5T support hdr. So here starts my steps.
1. Download the iYTBP app. If you're not rooted simply download the non rooted versions listed in the post links. https://www.google.com/amp/s/forum....tbp-injected-youtube-background-t3560900/amp/
2. You may need to install the corresponding microG apk to have the youtube app work correctly, so i recommend you install it.
3. In iYTBP app, click library, then go to settings. Go to iYTBP settings and click the about as many times as necessary. Then go to the codec override and click galaxy s8+ hardware hdr.
4. watch HDR content on YouTube! Lool at the hdr channel for good examples. make sure to load in 1080 hdr. you will have a green line on the side if not.
5. Enjoy ?. You can watch an hdr test sample for testing. on sdr mode the white space will just remain the same brightness, while hdr has that white space start dim and get a bright as the screen may allow it.
6. Compare vs other hdr capable devices. i have only compared to regular devices like iPhone 7, and what hdr content looks like normally (sdr) by switching back to my normal YouTube app. HDR on op5T looks phenomenal! wish i could do this on media players or Netflix if anyone here knows how to.
did not work. Override the coded with the samsung one but on the videos hdr playlist and i only get "normal" resolutions, no sign of "1080 hdr" or something like that. tried to swipe off youtube from recents too, still no-go.
I can confirm this works. I can now watch 1080p HDR videos on YouTube without root or magisk.
Well, what I see is that there are lots glitches / artifacts when HDR in on, I've tested the 2 videos, on and off, and if you look closely in the background, you see the problem, when you switch it off, well, no problem anymore. I'm running stock OOS 4.7.2 with stock kernel

I mean I can see a little difference in colours.Colours were bit cooler while playing hdr and more pleasing to eyes.Is this how it should work?
Update:I tried taking screenshots while playing video and I can see the difference in colours in even screenshots.
Is this normal?
Thank you sir... HDR are working great
I also noticed the fact that it should be capable of playing HDR content (since it also has p3)
Display should be no problem and also supports playback with this Qualcomm CPU. I truly hope a smart developer will be able to make this work on apps like Netflix.

Yeah brightness will go to max, but in hdr mode where colors aren't supposed to be bright they are dimmed. bright is bright dim is dim. Compare to Normal mode and colors only go as bright or dim that you set your brightness to! To see of its actually working give this video a try. https://youtu.be/NlAsAuBtmps. The white square should start dim then get as bright as possible up to a limit (4000 nits, don't expect displays to get this bright yet)

Well, what I see is that there are lots glitches / artifacts when HDR in on, I've tested the 2 videos, on and off, and if you look closely in the background, you see the problem, when you switch it off, well, no problem anymore. I'm running stock OOS 4.7.2 with stock kernel

Make sure video loads in 1080p HDR. Lower resolutions result in all those defects. after switching video to 1080 reload it to make sure its 1080 all the way.
20mark said:
did not work. Override the coded with the samsung one but on the videos hdr playlist and i only get "normal" resolutions, no sign of "1080 hdr" or something like that. tried to swipe off youtube from recents too, still no-go.

Videos must actually be in HDR to begin with so make sure you're watching actual hdr content (https://youtu.be/NlAsAuBtmps) this video will test hdr by making brightness of white pixels brighter and brighter up to a cap. also the Channel of that video has hdr content so give the ones that you'd like a try!

What didn't work?
https://youtu.be/zV5mBfMaGWU This video offers excellent comparison of HDR vs SDR and should show that hdr is working right by ramping up brightness

Video has to support hdr to begin with. start with the 4k hdr channel. youtube has yet to get more hdr video. some youtubers have some hdr video but not many.

Thanks, works great on my OP3T
Disclaimer:
I do not claim this improves anything. But I also don't think it will make things worse. But it also could be just a placebo effect. All in all, this is just an experimental mod and a try to improve the touch response of the phone. Again - I don't claim it will do magic things. Just try it and report back. But I'm not responsible if you don't notice any positive effects - so don't blame be if it "doesn't work".
This is an experimental mod which tries to improve the touch response. This might or might not work - read the disclaimer.
But what does this actually do? First of all, it adds two lines to the build.prop. I found them somewhere here on xda and I'll give proper credits to the guy(s) who posted this of course.
The other thing what this mod does: it adds touchscreen.idc file into /system/usr/idc/. This file can be found in the android googlesource, for example for the never released Pixel 2 "Muskie" (at least not as Pixel phone) or the Pixel 2XL. So I made seven versions of this mod and always changed some values. A higher version number does not mean that it's better or worse or anything, it's just to distinguish between the different versions.
So, feel free to try this - again, I don't claim this changes anything. It's up to you to try it
So anyone tried it? lol
I installed v7 via magisk, seems to be working great. I have noticed some improvements with my touch screen and jitter scrolling. Thanks!!
If anyone interested, tested on the telegram group. Does nothing

I know, that's why I'm saying that as a result of actual testing. Props don't do anything, searched and no blob or part of framework matches with that string. And the idc file didn't change anything in the way the touchscreen registers the touches.
Maybe try a 70Hz mod ??

As you know with every mod it might work and it might not XD but let's do it then!
OK so this is the might be quiet interesting but the Xiaomi Mi 6 has a Snapdragon 835 and it can record in 4K 60!!!
Here is the mod and the libs are in the first zip called "60fps xyz" download it and try checking the libs.
https://mega.nz/#F!FUFR3CTa!HWMAB27rIDXc6nT7nI8XCg
I know the camera sensor ain't the same but this seems impossible since SD 835 has no 4K 60 encode support but I have seen YouTube videos using this mod to get 60fps 4K which I found really really interesting. 0.o
Also do u have any idea what Controls the EIS? I have seen build prop stuff that activates it but where is the real code that controls it? Let's try this 4K 60 first tho =D

Ohh I guess camare modding is far beyond my knowledge
@KuranKaname Is there any way to find out which prop lines are even possible respectively which lines would adress specific blobs or frameworks etc.?

What's wrong with the EIS? It's there in the Essential camera app, just on by default with no way of turning it off. Switch to video mode and the image is slightly cropped. And moving around, it does try to keep the footage steady.
Just trying to make it work better?
