Wifi MAC address stuck on 02:00:00:00:00:00 - OnePlus 6 Questions & Answers

My wifi was acting up, it would never turn on no matter how many times I tapped on the wifi icon or the ON switch. It was be stuck on "Turning on...". I noticed my WiFi MAC address would be 02:00:00:00:00:00 instead of my original one.
I decided to clean install and everything was working at the start then out of nowhere my wifi started acting up again.
Has anyone ever had a similar issue? Could somebody help me, please?

your phone shows only the real mac, when connected to a network. reinstall your rom or try to format data / cache partition to solve the problem.

Thanks for your reply @matze19999
For future reference, I clean installed again and did NOT restore previous wifi/network settings.
I had tried spoofing my MAC in the past and that might have caused the problem to begin with.

Spoofing without rooting is not possible so you might have broken something.

this problem is kernel related. you should back to stock kernel for your rom

[Q] Wifi will not turn on AT ALL

The other day I bought the samsung infuse from a guy, and he told me the wifi wouldn't turn on, so I assumed it was a software issue.
This is everything I tried:
-Factory Reset
-Flashed back to stock with root with Odin
-Flashed Flashed ICS recovery
-Flashed Beanstalks Rom
-Flashed CM10.2 Rom
After all of these steps, I still can't get the wifi to turn on. Ive also tried all the fixes I found online, dialing *#*#526#*#*, with fixer app, etc. Could this be a hardware issue?
Did you try turning wifi on when using the stock rom?

Yeah, it wouldn't turn on then either.
So I was looking t qkster's How-to on installing roms, and under the wifi fixes, I tried all of them, and FXR wifi fixer gets stuck at 'Deleting Profiles'. Still can't get it to turn on, could somebody please help?!?

It's not a MAC address issue for me as far as I know, I just can't get my wifi to turn on period. Like I can't even get to the point where it will scan for networks. Also noticed my bluetooth won't turn on, but I don't really use it.

try to use the code *#*#232338#*#* and check if the wifi mac address is available.

After browsing a bunch of forums I still can't find a fix... 160 views, So I'm not the only one having the problem. Surely someone can find a fix, I need wifi, I have a data limit.
So I flashed back to stock, and tried to flash drivers, and it said they installed successfully. But on stock GB it will turn on, scan, then turn off, not detecting any networks. Help??

Troubleshooting this require several directions.
1. Make sure the router or the wifi source is working properly. Are the other devices picking up the wifi signal also?
On the router, there is a dhcp lease time...set this on a different setting, ie..from Forever to 2 wks ..etc
2. Back up your data and pics etc and take out the micro sd card. Factory reset and data wipe with full format a few times from in the ROM. Boot into cwm and reset again.
The flash to complete GB stock - heimdall or odin with a complete re-partition - and try to run it stock. Try reseting the router again.
3. Open the phone and check the connections, remove the circuit board and the connections. See if anything is loose or corroded.
If after this and your wifi won't turn on, it could be hardware.
The easier solution is to take it or send it to a repair shop..repairuniverse and mobiletechvideo are two examples I've seen on other posts

Yes, all devices in my house are receiving wifi. I've done all of the above except for open my phone, which I don't have the means to do. This weekend I'll be taking it to a repair shop to get looked at. I'll let you guys know if they fix it, and what the problem was.

yeah...i noted that you did..couldn't hurt to try it a few times though...sometimes, wifi doesn't work right due to voodoo or partition mismatch..only a repartition or complete reset a few times with reformat may fix...

I took it to the repair shop, and he opened it and said it looked perfectly fine. Guess all I've got left to try is repartitioning.

Turning WIFI on...
Ok, so i've spent the last few hours trying to troubleshoot the above error... and i have a solution that worked for me... I couldn't turn my wifi on at all... it just said "Turning WIFI on..." in trying to fix the issue i was trying to download WIFI Fixer via 3G... which failed with error 492... so i followed the advice on this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1641114 which inadvertantly fixed my WIFI... So basically I cleared all Data and Cache of both Google Play and Google services framework... rebooted into recovery wiped cache, and cleared Dalvik cache, and my problem was solved... i hope this helps someone else.

Nexus 5 Wifi Issue

So I've had my Nexus 5 for roughly around a month and I hadn't experienced any issues others have had with wifi not connecting until now. My N5 will show im connected to my home wifi with full bars, but going into quick settings shows it to be orange. Suggesting there's no data transfer, I cannot use any internet based apps with wifi. I've tried some suggestions, switching my router off then on, rebooting the phone, turning some settings off in the advanced panel in wifi settings. All have failed.
I was just wondering if anyone else has this problem and if anyone has a fix to it.

There was a thread around here somewhere that suggested turning off your mobile data helped fix this problem, I think it was in the N5 General forums.....here it is:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2550690
Don't know if it'll help or not, just saw your thread and had just looked at the other one, figured I'd toss it out there.
Thanks for the reply, just tried that solution but still no luck.
I have a similar problem except that there are phases of wifi not working.
Sometimes I would have around 20-30 seconds of WiFi not working and there would be no data transfer.
Speeds are still fast when it is working however.
I played a little with only using mobile data and no wifi, and everything worked. (Small sample size however).
Seems like this is a WiFi only issue.
So somehow overnight the wifi has managed to fix itself, will report back if the problem returns.
The issue with the wifi returned unfortunately.

Don't know if you've tried this but change your WiFi frequency band in advanced setting to either "5 GHz only" or "2.4 GHz only," whatever your router uses. Might be worth a try.
Thanks for the help, but I've tried changing some settings in advanced wifi settings but it hasn't worked. Even what you recommended I've tried that before and it didn't work.
wifi issue
Also I have the same issue - Im connected to router by wi-fi, home and work and time by time (5x a day) wifi stops working. Wifi is enabled in settings, but there is no connection. Restart the cellphone helps, but after that, maybe an hour, it appears again.
Issue was in 4.4 and still appers in 4.4.1.
Yet did not found how to solve it.
I have the same issue on my gnex running shiny 4.4, but I also had the same issue on 4.3. Tried the wifi options, nothing worked. Unfortunately, no solution for this device that has to last one more week. The double swipe down and tapping wifi gets the connection back, but it is only a work around.
The N5 connects seamlessly to my home and work wifi. A few days ago, I flashed the hammerhead factory image, TWRP and the 4.4.1 update.

Hey,
I have the same problem with 4.4.2.(factory rom, no root or not unlocked). Sometimes the wifi not works and get orange. I must put airplane mode to fix it. Its annoying.
But as well happens to me:
When I go out from office or home (where I have wifi connections saved in phone) the phone automatically switch to data plan from carrier. But when I come back the phone stays with data and there is not automatic switch to wifi. Sometimes it help to put wifi off or always airplane mode on/off for a while.
I do not know if it is normal behave of android but I would like have automatic switch to wifi.
I tried to change wifi details (changing bands, etc.) but not helped.
Please help. Thank you.
Is custom ROM or kernel will fix it??
For some unknown reason, as soon as I updated my router's firmware, the problem disappeared.
Updated Android 6.0 solved the issue

So I had the unfortunate experience of having my wifi go down while on vacation and for 3 weeks I spent a good chunk of time wiping and reinstalling multiple versions from Cyanogen, Paranoid android and 4.4 - 5.1 to no avail. I just did another factory wipe today and installed the new Android 6.0
The Finger Pointing Game is OVER
Read through 30+ pages of other android users with similar experience and some people send their units back to LG and some even managed getting a new handset. There was never any hardware issues with my unit I just couldn't turn on the WiFi but after the install WiFi works? Guess next time you push a software update to our Phones CHECK YOUR SH*T google and Maybe DON'T Take 3 months to FIX your F*CK Up.
I have a similar issue. Since Lollipop my phone almost never automatically connects to my WiFi anymore. What's wrong?

stack "Wifi turning on"- Problem updated

Hey,
I have a problem after updating my (tab 2 Wifi-3G 10.1) to Android 4.2.1. the tablet was working so well while and after updating, but after that I wake up and I had anoyning problem. the problem is when I click on the setting and try to turn on the wifi it shows only (turning wifi on...) and nothing happening. it feels like the wifi cannot start or establish the connenction, therefore no available wifi routers or Hotspots can be listed.
What happened the last two days, I tried to check if the tablet will work again after 2 weeks no charge and drain all the battery, SO IT REALLY WORKED BUT ONLY FOR 5 MIN and the problem came back again.
I downgrade to Android 4.0.4, tried fix apps like "FIX MY WIFI" it says (cannot enable the Wifi -unknown issue), also download the patch file " wpa_supplicant" and changed the wifi setting for standby policy to (allways on), all these steps did not really helped or fixed this problem.
XDA and google didnt really gave me the good answer and there are many android tablets with similer problem.
I hope someone knows about this problem and could share the solution
I just received two Galaxy Tab 2 (P3113) tablets and I am experiencing a similar sounding issue as you. I personally own one already so I am able to check on certain parameters to see where exactly it is failing. What I have found is this:
On my good working GTab I can see my WiFi mac address even when it's turned off (the WiFi mac address is 1 digit higher than BT). On the two I recently received both display the mac address as "Unavailable". Can you check yours to see if you even have a mac address? Goto settings, about tablet, status or under WiFi goto advanced and see if it is displayed.
Once upon a time I had a Sprint Galaxy Nexus and I had an issue with randomizing mac address on reboot. I was able to pull a partition called param, Hex edit it so it could retain the real mac address and then flashed it back. This hardware is slightly different and I am not expert on how to do this but maybe someone on here will have an idea on how to do this.
There's always the possibility that the WiFi chip is just dead. I'm gonna keep looking for a solution and if I find one I'll pass it on to you.

[Q] Stuck on WiFi Turning on
Hello,
I've seen this issue with various phones and various fixes... But I don't want to Hi-Jack anyone or anything. Anyway, I tried the dev build of "L" at one point... and my WiFi randomly stopped working. I thought "welp, it's a dev build... not gonna sweat it" and went back to stock 4.4.4... flashed back to factory, no dice. It seemed to turn on long enough during the setup process to "connect" but it disappeared when I rebooted to go to ART. Thought, welp, no experimental anything. Flashed back to factory, no WiFi. Not even during setup. Tried the various things I've seen around... obviously various factory resets, tried rooting and renaming wpa_supplicant.conf, flashed paranoid android because someone said that's the only thing that worked... it didn't. I do notice the kernel seems to be the same for PA and 4.4.4, so I could try another kernel, but have no idea which to try. After I put TWRP on, I cleared every cache, etc I could. Flashed back to stock after clearing system and no dice, tried running wifi fixer, tried installing macman... nothing. I did see someone say if the phone gets too hot, the WiFi chipset can come off, but the WiFi chip-set is the same as Bluetooth, and that's having no problems. I appreciate any suggestions, I really want this to work out. Otherwise I have a year with a phone with no WiFi... To kind of clarify (re-reading, I see I wasn't too clear about the actual problem), the WiFi toggle switch is set to "Off" and where your networks would display it shows "Turning on WiFi". This isn't just one network acting up, and this has been going on for a couple of weeks.
Edited to add: when I unlocked the bootloader today, the setup process showed me my networks but settings froze when I put the password in... so the hardware seems to be connected...

Android 5.0 WLAN Bug with PEAP/MASCHAPV2

Hey Guy,
I can not connect to our WLAN in the University. It is secured with PEAP and MASCHVAP2. Android wont connect. Does someone have this problem too? Does anybody have a Fix?
Same Problem :/
I'm experiencing the same problem here. I'm trying to connect to the company Wifi here at work and it's failing, although it is working for all of my coworkers that are not using Lollipop.
The Wifi is configured as a hidden SID with PEAP security. My phone tries to connect, then briefly shows "connecting", then after few seconds goes back to "saved". I would imagine it's going to drain my battery because it tries to connect every 10 seconds, repeating the pattern described above.
Does anybody know how to fix this?
i think i didnt had that issue today everything was ok...i will check next time
Really? Wow, but i cant believe that nobody had the same issue while preview.

My WiFi is working fine. PEAP/MSCHAPV2. Win2k8 R2 running RRAS, AD user authentication, and WPA2 Enterprise on the WAPs.
Did you Upgrade or installed a Factory Image? And How do you Installed the Factory Image?
I remember, that i have not made this step: ★Select "Wipe data/factory data reset", could this be the reason?
Same issue
I'm having the same issue. I installed via factory image
Did you Wipe/factory data reset after flashing the Image?
I'm connected fine with WPA2 enterprise using PEAP/MSCHAPv2. I flashed the factory image last night manually without wiping data (ie. I didn't flash userdata.img). Not having any wifi issues at work today. Sorry, I know that doesn't help you get yours working... but maybe collecting information about who it's working for or not working for and how they upgraded will be of some use.

I did what the flash-all.bat script does, except I didn't flash userdata.img. Although just now I wiped cache for another reason and now my wifi is having the same issue as yours. It doesn't appear limited to PEAP/MSCHAPv2, apparently... looks like wifi on Lollipop has some real problems: https://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=78702
I might be flashing back to 4.4.4 because I need to have wifi working properly... too much of a deal-breaker for me if it's not.
---------- Post added at 01:27 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:21 PM ----------
I tried forgetting the network and setting it up again from scratch and now it connects fine. Not sure what happened, but now it works... doesn't change the fact that a number of people are having wifi issues with 5.0.
Hm, can someone, who has these problem, try to flash without userdata.img?
I sideloaded the OTA on to a stock, unrooted N5 and can't connect to my company's PEAP network with no Phase 2 authentication.
Got on to my work wireless using PEAP/MSCHAPv2 fine - sometimes notice a small exclamation mark next to the WIFI icon on the status bar, doesnt really tell you what it means but the connection seems usable and ok.
Used flash-all last night
Same issue - cannot log into company wifi after flashing factory image using flash-all including userdata.img yesterday. I don't know how to check what type of network it is but in Wifi Analyzer it says it is WPA2.
It was fine in the final L preview.
My home wifi that uses WPA/WPA2 PSK works too, so is connecting to wifi hotspot from another smartphone.
Hmmm... Have you all tried rebooting your device? For me, Wi-Fi isn't working on every other boot. I did a clean install of Lollipop too. My wife's Nexus 5 seems to be doing it too...
Okay, I now have rebooted several times now and it is working each boot now... WTF... well whatever. :\

If you have a exclamation mark on your wifi it's not working. You are using your wireless data. Try switching off your wireless data while using Wi-Fi and see what happens.

I have rebooted about once or twice at work but same result. Do you think more reboots would have worked?
I was mistaken, mine isn't working at all using PEAP/MSCHAPv2 ... Tried multiple reboots but i never get an IP back
Looks like i'll have to roll back to KK 4.4 as I need my phone on the work network
Edit - now it seems to be working - what the hell lol ... this is random! Ok it's connected fine and i can access stuff, but i still have an exclamation mark on the wifi icon.
