Will this u.s. model have 5G capabilities? Thanks In advance!!!

Doubtful. 7 Pro is the only one with any indication of a 5G model.
Now we have an author over at Android Central thinking the US is only going to get the Pro version. Bad move, if true.
https://www.androidcentral.com/what-oneplus-7-pro-needs-do-justify-its-flagship-pricing
They better be wrong. I've had every OP except the X and the 6T and I will be pissed if they don't offer the 7 and only the 7 Pro in the US. That would be a major middle finger to their US base.

Pro would definitely come to the US and technically 5G version to be launched in the 5G enabled regions :good:
Latest on PhoneArena and Droid Life now has it pretty much being a slightly upgraded 6T, as most expected. Main differences appear to be the SD855, OP7 Pro's camera sensors (though only a dual camera on back), stereo speakers, and UFS 3.0.
Might be worth an upgrade if you're rocking a OP5/5T. Not so much if you have a 6/6T. Debate's starting if the Xiaomi Mi 9 is the better buy.
Per OnePlus employee if you didn't catch my thread...
"At OnePlus, we've consistently delivered the best smartphone technology because we are committed to providing premium products and experiences for consumers. As OnePlus continues to grow, the company will naturally need to adapt and expand its product portfolio. The OnePlus 7 Pro is an ultra-premium flagship device that is uniquely positioned to meet the needs of US users. As a breakthrough device with capabilities that match or exceed what is currently available on the US market, and an industry-leading display that sets a new standard for smoothness, the OnePlus 7 Pro offers the best possible smartphone experience for consumers. We will continue to sell the OnePlus 6T alongside the OnePlus 7 Pro for users looking for a premium flagship experience."

So is the one plus one still a good phone? Im on the edge of picking up one for a spare. I know it's an older device but I love to root/rom and the note 5 is terrible in that department.
Sent from my SM-N920T using XDA-Developers mobile app
Provided the developer base Oneplus one has it is still the best phone. I suppose it will last upto atleast Android O, specs wise Oneplus one is now older and can't compete with some of the phones.
However same goes for those other phones they can't compete Oneplus one with the developer base.

I'm curious to see what people think about this phone since it's been announced.
My initial thoughts are that it looks like very good hardware and design for an attractive price. Being an Android One phone, it will get good software support, something that HMD has already demonstrated it is good at.
My concern is whether bootloaders will be unlockable and whether Kernel sources will be released. Something that HMD said they would do in 2017 but failed in this regard.

Bootloader should be unlockable like any other Android One and Pixel phones but kernel source is unknown, unfortunately.
Will have to keep fingers crossed on the kernel sources. If they do this and quickly after the phones release, I can see the Nokia's becoming a go to phone for the enthusiast community!

it look's a very promising device. : https://www.techradar.com/reviews/nokia-7-plus
friendly price / Big screen / HMD announces up to 2 days of battery life
it should get treble support because coming with oreo
If bootloader unlock and kernel sources are ok, it can be my next device

Given the battery size and the fact that it's a 1080p screen rather than a 2k or 4k screen then it should do very well in that arena. Then add (fingers crossed) custom ROMs if we get kernel sources and bootloader then it should perform even better on the battery life front!

Just (pre) ordered one.
Tired of the other vendors update / upgrade policy and really like the Android One promiss.
depends on how they price it in India. if price is too close to oneplus 5t. it'd be hard to recommend it over OP5T
if they price it between 22k to 25k, then it might become a successful mid range phone
also, Asus is launching zenphone 5 and 5z. I've heard they are going to price them competitively. so competition is high

In the UK I believe the ZenFone 5Z is going to be the same price at the OP5T even though it has a newer SOC and better specs generally. The ZenFone 5 would likely be a more similar price to the Nokia 7 Plus.
Will be interesting to see where the different manufacturers end up pricing their phones!!

Also highly considering this to be my Nexus 4 (yes 4 ^^) replacement.
What is the state of rooting Nokia Android One phones. I looked a bit at other threads but didn't get a too promising impression.
Can we expect a reliable rooting method soon after the release?

None of their 2017 phones had unlockable bootloaders and therefore no root. Their 2018 line up is mainly Android One phones and they have previously promised they will allow bootloader unlock. Therefore whilst we don't currently know, it at least looks promising.

"promising" is an understatement. nokia is under terrific pressure to have all their android one devices equipped with unlockable bootloaders, otherwise they might as well just drop the "android one" tags.
Does anyone think there will be a Mclaren edition of this phone? I dont want to buy the 7 Pro if in a few months a more powerful version will show up.

Doubt it. If you have noticed, all of the OnePlus special/limited editions have been a one and done.
Also, they are selling a 12gb model, so at best you get more storage. Can't see em doing a 16gb model.

Suppose youre right.
I can't see it. Makes no sense. They know 12GB is overkill as of now... What are they going to offer 16GB/512gb? I don't see it. What's with the Pro?
1) There will always be a "more powerful version", until we reach the limits on SoC gate technology.
2) What do you find lacking in the performance for the OP7P that you feel you need to wait? Really? I have my OP7P declocked to get significantly better battery life, and the declocked OP7P still would crush most other phones on the market.
I just hope they don't launch a limited edition red model, I'll be pissed! That's the only thing they could do right now that would bum me out, and that's aesthetic, not even performance.

I heard they are launching Op7T Pro with 855+ , 120 hz refresh rate & better cameras in few months
Sounds like a future beast!

An 855+ with a 5g US compatible radio is all I have heard is coming. For anything better, the OnePlus 8 next year will be the only worth while upgrade.
I'm with the op. Im waiting for a special edition. Every phone gets a spec edition. I'm sure it'll come out in September after the current back to school promotions end.
Looks like a world wide second 5G model this year...
Google spokesperson confirms that Pixel 4 and 4XL won't be landing on our shores.
After spending 2 tearsbwith a Pixel XL, I was really looking forward to upgrading to the 4XL. Alas!!
Code:
“We determine availability based on a variety of factors, including local trends, and product features. We decided not to make Pixel 4 available in India. We look forward to bringing future Pixel devices to India.”
This is pretty disappointing as some users still want to buy pixel phone in India I hope Google gets approval from govt. for launching these phones in India. I think i would wait for sometime if some positive news comes in future otherwise I will try if I can buy from US and get it shipped to India.

When I heard that there were 4 variants that went through the FCC, I thought for sure 2 of them were the pixels without soli, so India could get it. That's strange.

Don't know what to say at this moment after the launch event google made it clear that pixel 4 is not coming to India.
I was waiting for Google to launch pixel 4. Since its not coming to India, can you guys suggest a good alternative?
I want top notch camera and speedy updates.

That possibly could be the US and global variants for the 4 and 4XL.
G020J is 4XL US and G020P is the global variant.

Yeah Even i am thinking for op7t. I am searching to find answers if gcam on op7t will be equivalent to pixel quality.

I assume they will bring low spec 4a to India
Man, Google is getting flamed for this soooo bad and it's all completely unnecessary. Articles that are saying Google won't be bringing the pixel 4 to India. That's the wrong terminology. It's got nothing to do with they won't, they can't. India won't let them. So instead of yelling at Google, go yell at your own damn government.
I've been itching to upgrade from my 7 pro. Is the 8t worth the upgrade? I'm on T-mobile, so my jump is available for an upgrade. I'm just not sure if it's worth using. That's where I'm gonna rely on you guys for advice. I'd either upgrade to the 8t or the Galaxy s20.
What is your opinion?

You get a newer device that is more up to date. The SD865 doesn't feel a lot faster than the SD855 so you probably won't notice the difference. If you multitask or keep a lot of apps open at once. The 12GB of RAM in the 8T will be useful. Oxygen OS 11 looks like a lot more like Samsung's OneUI with the big headers and plenty of wasted space. Whether you like that or not, to each their own. The cameras from the 7T and 8 are practically the same as what the 8T has, just with an extra and debatably useless addition. 5G, if available in your area, might be worth it. 90Hz versus 120Hz, I personally don't see or feel the difference. Personally, waiting for the 9 is a better choice unless you want a new phone now. If you really want something new, the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE 5G has a lot of the same features and more, but at a cost of half the RAM for $50 less.

I'm jumping from the 7T Pro 5G to the 8T. Main thing for me is the flat screen. OnePlus accidental touch detection has been crap since curved screens made it a necessity. I'm happy with the performance of my current phone, but the screen curve and horrid auto brightness (due to hidden front camera) has really worn on me over the past year and a half (7 Pro and 7T Pro).
