Pixel 4 and 4XL not coming to India - Google Pixel 4 XL Guides, News, & Discussion

Google spokesperson confirms that Pixel 4 and 4XL won't be landing on our shores.
After spending 2 tearsbwith a Pixel XL, I was really looking forward to upgrading to the 4XL. Alas!!
Code:
“We determine availability based on a variety of factors, including local trends, and product features. We decided not to make Pixel 4 available in India. We look forward to bringing future Pixel devices to India.”

This is pretty disappointing as some users still want to buy pixel phone in India I hope Google gets approval from govt. for launching these phones in India. I think i would wait for sometime if some positive news comes in future otherwise I will try if I can buy from US and get it shipped to India.

When I heard that there were 4 variants that went through the FCC, I thought for sure 2 of them were the pixels without soli, so India could get it. That's strange.

Don't know what to say at this moment after the launch event google made it clear that pixel 4 is not coming to India.

I was waiting for Google to launch pixel 4. Since its not coming to India, can you guys suggest a good alternative?
I want top notch camera and speedy updates.

That possibly could be the US and global variants for the 4 and 4XL.
G020J is 4XL US and G020P is the global variant.

Pretty disappointed too. Was looking forward to buy it.
I assume they will bring low spec 4a to India

Man, Google is getting flamed for this soooo bad and it's all completely unnecessary. Articles that are saying Google won't be bringing the pixel 4 to India. That's the wrong terminology. It's got nothing to do with they won't, they can't. India won't let them. So instead of yelling at Google, go yell at your own damn government.

[Q] Wait for a US-compatible Ascend Mate 7 or buy the Chinese version and hope?

I'm curious how many folks out there are going to wait to see when/if and then buy the US-compatible version of the Ascend Mate 7 or are going to buy the version that's out now?
Wait .....

I think u should wait a bit because I m a Pakistani and on HuaweiPakistan fb page they are indicating that mate7 is gonna available very shortly. In Pakistan we get international version always not Chinese ones. So i hope it would support all bands of LTE being used in USA.

As a seller, can we participate in this thread?
Our opinions for USA consumers would be, to wait for the USA version.
For EU consumers, our opinion is that the current Chinese premium MT7-TL10 shall work flawlessly in many EU countries and it offers more advantages that it carries the most complete TDD bands in the entire market.
If you are not mainly based in NA and are a frequent traveler, we highly recommend the current Chinese premium MT7-TL10.
And one more advice if we could offer: get the 3 GB RAM version for this high-end phone. It worth the bucks you are to pay.

I can't walk around with a gold phone. I just can't. What was Huawei thinking only releasing the higher-end version in gold?

HUAWEI believes it is a premium phone only for VIP man/woman.
Seriously, the MATE is targeting at high-end market. The gold color looks better in hands though. And it can be covered with the leather case.
Gold is kind of cool

For me, the gold color was kind of appealing. It stands out where all the other devices seem to do wood (at the most extreme, to me, which is not extreme) to just plain black. If I get one more "black" device, I'll lose it. You'd think manufacturers would get that we want color in our devices. Not just the same old drab non-colors.
I wouldn't mind different colors, but I think that gold is quite possibly the ugliest color you could put on a device. I'd be more likely to buy literally any other color of device than gold. I spent 2-4 minutes trying to think of another color that came close to as bad as gold but I can't think of one. I prefer not to have a case on my phone, and even with a case you'd still be able to see little slivers of color on it.
So, I went to the Huawei Mobile Phone store site and posed the following question:
You're updating your answers that this will be released in a US-compatible version, WHEN will it be released in a US-compatible version? Please update as you say to buy it from the US Huawei shop but it's not even listed there, only the Ascend Mate 2 is listed. WHEN is this going to be available in the US and is it going to be compatible with T-Mobile?

This was their response:

If Huawei Ascend Mate7 released in the United States, it will be compatible with T-Mobile's.

I think they mean "when" not "if" (not at all sure their English is very good).
Of course, all of this is without a date of when it will be released, but there you go. There's a few other countries that have asked about this and they seem to just be really slow at rolling out stock.
I think I understand why Huawei isn't so well known in the US, they seem unable to get stock, make the devices, whatever voodoo they have to do to fulfill a demand for a device they created.
I am not going to buy the Chinese model in lieu of waiting for the US compatible M7, but I'm inching closer to buying a competing product like the Note 4 or Nexus 6. It's been a month and a half since the Mate7 was announced, and I still couldn't tell you when it will be made widely available. The M7 is my preferred phone because of battery life, but I'm not going to wait much longer, when there are quality competitors becoming available in this space, to be honest.

I wrote this exact thing on their website. Their response, "Mate is low in stock right now.. "
I think I know now why they're considered #3 in worldwide sales and nor even considered by US carriers. They seem very lackadaisical about the urgency of coming to market with an announced product.
Sad really.
I have the premium gold chinese variant, and though I can't speak for US, it works fine in EU.
And the gold colour looks nice - I wouldn't really call it proper gold. anyway - it looks different to other flat black slabs that everyone else is carrying

[Q] Google Playstore

I have a ton of applications I bought and use from the Google Playstore. Is it preloaded (or can it be easily installed) on the Mate 8?
If not it is pretty useless for me. Thanks!
It can be installed. Most sellers shipping it internationally will preload it for you.

Huawei has had Google Play on its international phones for years. My first Android phone was a Huawei running Froyo and it had offical Google Play. Just noticed, according to honormi website, they will pre install google play if asked. Also, the Champagne gold with 4GB ram and 128GB memory seems like a good deal ($789) relative to other prices I've seen quoted from other dealers. Is this much more than what would be Huawei's price?
Any better deals out there?

If you can wait, CES and Barcelona are coming up soon. Lots of new devices will be previewed. I'm more likely to order the Mate 8 once the international version is launched (supposedly during Q1 of 2016, but it might get pushed back to Q2). Given the inclusion of FUD LTE band 17--essential for much of AT&T's 4G market, especially all the Verizon western markets that it bought when big red had to divest itself of those markets during the Alltel aquisition--and the fact that the online US Huawei store has had only one phone with US 4G LTE bands that work for both T Mobile and AT&T, I really expect to see Huawei launch this in the US via their store. Look for Huawei to announce a US launch at CES. At least, I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I didn't buy the 7 because my AT&T 4G LTE market uses FUD LTE band 17 and the 7 is missing it.

Yes, patience is a virtue here! I'm on T-mobile so bands 2 and 4 are all that is needed for LTE so I'm covered in that regards. T-mobile does not use band 17. Be interesting if a Mate 8 shows up at CES for US. Wonder if a different processor will be used for that. Any idea what might be on the horizon?

The Wall Street Journal reported on Wednesday that Huawei will sell the Mate 8 in the US. In fact, the article indicates that the company will begin to focus more on more on North America next year.
Good, the built-in huawei app manager has a link to install Google Play! It actually works fine
I'm working in Shanghai and just got my mate 8 delivered this morning.
Per past exp on using huawei devices, it's easy to install gapps as there are gapps installers available in the preloaded huawei app store.
Personal comment of Mate 8 on gapps installation, compatibility and setup may be more complicated than previous models. may be because of Android 6.0? China ver users may expect to be with more patients at the beginning. Until the international ver has released with more regions' stock rom options.....
I won't recommend to have selling party to pre-install the gapps. better keep the packing as new. it's really easy as just donwload the gapps installer and run it!
BTW, just a reminder, original packing from China ver has come with original leather flip case, and it gets a protector on the screen.....

Interested in this. Do you just need to install Google Play Store, or are there more files to download along side it?
Also I heard that there are issues for not allowing it enough memory so it crashes when download large games like 1gb +. If this is the case, how do you increase memory space and what else should I do during the setup?

[Question] Will there be a oneplus 6t version? And when?

Hi,
I don't think I've seen any official statements on this. The 3T and 5T were both annouced in November of their respective years and available in the same month.
When the 3T came out, they said it was a one off due to the availability of the SD821. Last year they made no prior comment and then the 5T was launched with a bigger screen.
I would say that we won't get any confirmation until it happens... But I would bet money that there will be a 6T with some form of improvement over the OnePlus 6.
The OnePlus model is to sell a phone at full price with no discounts until it's next model comes out. When the phones were priced very low, they could do that because even after a year it was a competitive choice. Now after a year there are better phones coming out after a year. Moving to a 6 month cycle means they keep people interested and higher sales figures. It's also worth noting that they increased the prices on the 3t but not the 5t. If they are increasing prices on the t models it also means OnePlus are going to flagship territory pricing. Not necessarily flagship killer like they originally used to be. This isn't bad but just demonstrates how their business model is changing to that of a more mainstream brand (similar to Sony with its 2 flagships a year) rather than an upstart.

My two cents is that I think there will be a OnePlus 6T but I will still be looking at the OnePlus 6. You get a phone with a new processor rather than waiting for the 6t when it's already half way through its product cycle.
The way they have supported the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 5 would seem to indicate they have the same software release cycle as the 3T and 5T respectively so might as well just get the OneOlus 6 when it's out. As for the 6T, it's just like the wider phone market... There are always new phones coming out with some latest feature so no point waiting as you will always be waiting for something better.

The release of a T version depends on a new chipset release by SD. If the Pixel/Note comes up with any later chipsets than 845, there are chances we would get a T device again.

The screen is already updgraded to 19:9 on the 6. I don't think we can see that going any further in 2018, at the max we can see an on screen FPS and a few camera tweaks. As I said earlier it depends on this year's pixel/note/iPhone release for further developments and market competitiveness

Well OnePlus will only start working on the next device after the release of OnePlus 6 and that can be either the 6T or something else so for now no one can confirm for sure. Also the release of the 6T shall depend on the future development in the world of tech and the other competitive devices to be released later in the year like the Pixel 3/Note/iPhone
If 6 is still competitive by the end of the year and there is no significant development in the world of tech, OP might hold its decision and rather release 7 instead of 6T

I'm not worried about a 6T. I got the 3T and then the 5. I skipped the 5T because it was an entirely different phone and I'm happy with my 5. I don't see what more they could pack into a new phone! The 6 will be loaded with the 845, so that won't be upgraded anytime soon. The RAM and storage will be huge so that's not an issue. The new camera and screen will be on point. Dust and water protection? I doubt it.

Price drop?

This is my first time considering a Pixel device so that comes with a lack of knowledge. I was curious about Pixel device release history and whether or not we have seen prices drop on existing devices when a new Pixel is released. Basically I want to know whether waiting a few weeks is worth it or should I give it a shot now? I'm certain the 3a is the phone for me, the question is just when.

General Law suit S22 ultra Exynos

What do you guys think, will there be any law suits againts Samsung where they where promising a flagship and we received maybe 500€ worth of a phone. With all the problems going around like bad network signal, freezing when getting a call, bad GPS signal, camera is far from their promises. I can't belive that a phone can be this different from SD version, which i would not think for a 1300€ phone. I am affraid that many of these faults are hardware related and we will never get the phone it was promised, and will be just a shadow to SD version.
Im starting to believe that GOS issues were intruduced just so Exynos variant would not feel so much different to SD versions, so the must have reduces SD performance so i would compare more to Exsynos version.
If i could return the phone this instance i would, or at least if Samsung would give us option to swap it with SD version.
Dunno... I believe that many of the current issues can and will be fixed via updates and presently many tests indicate that the Exynos indeed isn't all that bad in most categories.
I am in fact most curious about reception quality aka modem, not sure if this is really fixable via software. Most tests so far indicate that the Snapdragon modem indeed is quite a bit ahead of the Exynos....
I have Exynos version (12/256) since day one, never experienced major problems with it, but starting with AVC6, the phone sometimes freezes and reboots for incoming calls, before I even answer. I don't like it.
So... I should not have ordered one today?

Sound like a plan.
Don't understand why anyone would purchase the Exynos device. It's not like Exynos has a good track record, it's been problematic for many years. Yeah, some users haven't had any issues but let's be honest, you're rolling the dice on a very expensive smartphone. Even if your carrier can't provision all their call features for the most part you'll lose carrier aggression and 5G. More than happy to sacrifice those features for a problem free device. Class Action Lawsuit? Good luck with that, you might get a check at some point down the road for $20. The only people making out on that front are the lawyers!

You do realise that Exynos version is the only one available in Europe? When living in the UE even if you managed to import Snapdragon version you will have other issues ie waranty.

Yes, I'm aware of that. You still have the warranty but it has to be sent to the retailer for repair. I've had a number of devices purchased from Hong Kong, Snapdragon variants which never needed any type of repair so that hasn't been a concern, I would buy another again without hesitation.

No. You should have waited to see if it can be fixed. I lost patience, mine went back. Not risking the possibility it can't be fixed

I'm buying Exynos, because only it's available here in Europe, and I get it with insurance from my carrier, so repairs won't bankrupt me .
So, we don't have much option.

Its better. But read all the woes about 8 gen 1. Its made by Samsung lol. That's why it has problems also. Samsung are just average at making soc's.
Should get my dimensity redmi k50 pro soon. Looking forward to that than I ever did the s22 ultra. Was never excited about it. I had no faith lol. Unfortunately it turned out to be true. I'm sure they'll get it right one of these years
Man. Should I just send it back and keep my P6P? I bought the s22u due to recent issues with the p6p I've had since the March udpate.

I would wait until June or July. By then you'll have the option to get the device with the Snapdragon SoC manufacturered in TSMC's Foundry.

Thanks for the advice. I wonder why we can't get the snapdragon manufactured in TSMC found now. It stinks. I guess if I make it until July, I will probably just hold out for the P7P and roll the dice with that one.

Be sure to get a good pair of gloves so your hands don't fry when the K50 Pro exceeds120 degrees fahrenheit. And while you're at it don't forget to buy a couple cans of Raid Aeresol since it's MIUI 13 skin is jam packed with hundreds of bugs!
I ordered an exynos version this week, several weeks delayed, I hope that by the time it is in my hands these issues will be resolved.
Exynos 12/256 here.
Never had any problems.

It's always funny when a hurt Samsung employee replies.

What's even funnier is when a cheap, half baked, Chinese device is compared to an actual topshelf flagship.
