Should I upgrade from the 7 pro? - OnePlus 8T Questions & Answers

I've been itching to upgrade from my 7 pro. Is the 8t worth the upgrade? I'm on T-mobile, so my jump is available for an upgrade. I'm just not sure if it's worth using. That's where I'm gonna rely on you guys for advice. I'd either upgrade to the 8t or the Galaxy s20.
What is your opinion?

What are the benefits of upgrading? I guess that's what I'm wondering. Will I notice that much of a difference from my 7 pro?

You'll get the snapdragon 865 processor plus android 11 out of the box and a better quality of camera along with 5g

You get a newer device that is more up to date. The SD865 doesn't feel a lot faster than the SD855 so you probably won't notice the difference. If you multitask or keep a lot of apps open at once. The 12GB of RAM in the 8T will be useful. Oxygen OS 11 looks like a lot more like Samsung's OneUI with the big headers and plenty of wasted space. Whether you like that or not, to each their own. The cameras from the 7T and 8 are practically the same as what the 8T has, just with an extra and debatably useless addition. 5G, if available in your area, might be worth it. 90Hz versus 120Hz, I personally don't see or feel the difference. Personally, waiting for the 9 is a better choice unless you want a new phone now. If you really want something new, the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE 5G has a lot of the same features and more, but at a cost of half the RAM for $50 less.

I'm jumping from the 7T Pro 5G to the 8T. Main thing for me is the flat screen. OnePlus accidental touch detection has been crap since curved screens made it a necessity. I'm happy with the performance of my current phone, but the screen curve and horrid auto brightness (due to hidden front camera) has really worn on me over the past year and a half (7 Pro and 7T Pro).

OnePlus 7Pro Pricing

I know the $749 model pricing was leaked, and the one above that, but a $699 price was just a rumor. Anyone have any other sources that may confirm or point to a $699 base model of the Pro, or anything else related to pricing? Everyone can post it here
Some rumors saying that the starting price for OP 7 will be $599, but not sure.

Well if I was ever giving a S10+ for free, you could have it. You couldn't pay me to use a Samsung.

As per the benchmarks, Snapdragon is better than Exynos. The Samsung display is awesome, But now the Oneplus 7 pro display has been rated as A+.

OnePlus 7 Pro also has UFS 3.0 which the ill-fated Samsung Galaxy Fold would've had so now the OnePlus will be the first device released with this.

Yes, Samsung Galaxy Fold is a first generation foldable smartphone. we can't expect top notch specs on this. By the by as you said it is the only device which has UFS 3.0 till now.

Don't thinks so.
I had it for one week before get rid of it.
I can't handle those rediculous holes.
The position of power button is completely off.
Also lacking many features Oxygen will offer me.
Also a tone of bloatware as much one UI bring improvements Sammy needs to polished their UI and much less bloatware offers.
Navigation gesture compered to one oneplus offer is completely garbage.
Also I didn't like the yellowish white color tone of the screen.
No matter adjustable manual the white tone I couldn't find the ideal color for my eyes and taste preferences.
Note 9 white color tone of the screen is superior to those at s10 plus.

Doubtful. 7 Pro is the only one with any indication of a 5G model.
Now we have an author over at Android Central thinking the US is only going to get the Pro version. Bad move, if true.

They better be wrong. I've had every OP except the X and the 6T and I will be pissed if they don't offer the 7 and only the 7 Pro in the US. That would be a major middle finger to their US base.

Pro would definitely come to the US and technically 5G version to be launched in the 5G enabled regions :good:
Latest on PhoneArena and Droid Life now has it pretty much being a slightly upgraded 6T, as most expected. Main differences appear to be the SD855, OP7 Pro's camera sensors (though only a dual camera on back), stereo speakers, and UFS 3.0.
Might be worth an upgrade if you're rocking a OP5/5T. Not so much if you have a 6/6T. Debate's starting if the Xiaomi Mi 9 is the better buy.
Per OnePlus employee if you didn't catch my thread...
"At OnePlus, we've consistently delivered the best smartphone technology because we are committed to providing premium products and experiences for consumers. As OnePlus continues to grow, the company will naturally need to adapt and expand its product portfolio. The OnePlus 7 Pro is an ultra-premium flagship device that is uniquely positioned to meet the needs of US users. As a breakthrough device with capabilities that match or exceed what is currently available on the US market, and an industry-leading display that sets a new standard for smoothness, the OnePlus 7 Pro offers the best possible smartphone experience for consumers. We will continue to sell the OnePlus 6T alongside the OnePlus 7 Pro for users looking for a premium flagship experience."

Doubt it. If you have noticed, all of the OnePlus special/limited editions have been a one and done.
Also, they are selling a 12gb model, so at best you get more storage. Can't see em doing a 16gb model.

And that's why it's the "Pro"!

Suppose youre right.
I can't see it. Makes no sense. They know 12GB is overkill as of now... What are they going to offer 16GB/512gb? I don't see it. What's with the Pro?
1) There will always be a "more powerful version", until we reach the limits on SoC gate technology.
2) What do you find lacking in the performance for the OP7P that you feel you need to wait? Really? I have my OP7P declocked to get significantly better battery life, and the declocked OP7P still would crush most other phones on the market.
I just hope they don't launch a limited edition red model, I'll be pissed! That's the only thing they could do right now that would bum me out, and that's aesthetic, not even performance.

I know my OP 7 Pro crushes the new Galaxy S 10 Pro and my wife and kids Apple iphone XS . They use my OP 7 Pro for all pictures that we take !
I heard they are launching Op7T Pro with 855+ , 120 hz refresh rate & better cameras in few months
Sounds like a future beast!

An 855+ with a 5g US compatible radio is all I have heard is coming. For anything better, the OnePlus 8 next year will be the only worth while upgrade.
I'm with the op. Im waiting for a special edition. Every phone gets a spec edition. I'm sure it'll come out in September after the current back to school promotions end.
Looks like a world wide second 5G model this year...

Still worth in 2022?

Hello everyone,
I am thinking to buy Oneplus 8.
The price is really good. I wanted to ask you if it is still worth it. What do you think?
Thanks.

Are we talking $200?

Luckily because Qualcomm is trash, the chip inside the OP8 is still almost just as good as the 888 or the SD8 Gen 1.
Only reason to upgrade to the 9 or 10 would be cameras. OP8 cameras are garbage.
I wouldn't grab a used one unless it's real cheap. Just for battery concerns the phone is going on 2 years old after all.

Buying 8T in 2022. Yes or no?

Yeah, I'll propably ask in a lot of places in xda
From your experience of being in the OnePlus family, is it worth it buying 8T in 2022? I can get it for like $522.98
Or any other recommendations? And is Oxygen OS good? I've heard a lot of bad reviews about it
Well the phone is worth buying..12 GB ram + 48 MP and a 4500mAh battery is an overkill
520$ doesn't seem like a great deal tbh, below 400 maybe is..
I dont feel like the phone is missing any features a 2022 phone should have. Camera is not that great (GCam can do some work) and apperently Android 12 is terrible (I am still on A11 because EU is delayed).
Idk what the Nord 2 costs for you, but if you can get it for 400$, go for that. I would say they are almost on the same level..
This is the last real Oneplus phone after this, all is Oppo phones ) I am still want to get this in 2022, most probably will get CN version and convert to Global.

For that amount i'll look to 9 or 9Pro (if you can find one with good discount).
