Help - disable screenshot by pressing Power+Volume button - OnePlus 6 Questions & Answers

Is there a way how to disable possibility of screenshot by pressing VolDown and Power button? I hate this feauture and it makes screenshot even on pocket mode in my pocket....
Of course on rooted phone... Thanks for any suggestion!

You can disable the feature if you're rooted but you'll disable the ability to take any screen shot. If you're rooted you can use a quarantine app like app quarantine to disable the system app "screenshot". The package name is com.oneplus.screenshot. Personally is rather not be able to take any screen shots instead of taking them on accident several times a day. If you do this you're obviously doing it at your own risk.

Go to :
Settings->Sounds->More sound settings->Screenshot

Works well, but I'd like to go back. Do you know if/how this can be done?

If you used an app such as "app quarantine" to freeze/disable the screenshot app you simple go the app and re-enable/thaw/unfreeze the screenshot app.

Torch Light Setting

I have found a nice Torch Light setting. If you set it 'on', when the screen is off, a long-press on the Volume-Up key starts the light. A press on the Volume-Down key turns it off, and there is a configurable time-out too.
Here's what's odd: I cannot find it in the settings anywhere, but found it though adding an 'Activity' shortcut through SSLauncher (my shell of choice). This one is named TocrhLight IIRC, in case anyone wants to install the free version and try it.
I have found these Activity settings to be a huge mine of hidden features, or at least shortcuts to deeply buried settings. In this case, I think the feature is actually hidden. Room for a dedicated app just to set this setting, I feel.
Apologies if this is obvious or posted elsewhere, but I could not find it anywhere.
Hello,
thank you very much, that was what i was missing from my note 2.
I used Activity-Launcher from Play-Store to start this Setting.
Regards
Robert

Can anyone talk me through the steps to set this up?
Download nova launcher. Long press on desktop and add shortcut. Then choose activities choose settings and from there torchlight. Thats it.
But its not working flawless. This morning i needed the flashlight but didnt work. I had to unlock my phone andnlock it again to make it work.

Hm, might be useful.
Though personally I'll stick to Flashlight HD. It has a widget which is a flashlight toggle.
If you are rooted and have xposed framework installed, you can access the hidden setting via installing Wanam Xposed from the Google store.
Just a heads up.

What I'd like to see is a super bright torch like in the CM roms but without root.
The difference is astounding.

Any experience with long term use and potential LED damage/overheating? Also does anyone know why I wouldn't have any torch setting or app? Using Verizon note 3 and would love this mod

You can download the Activity-Launcher app (as Rivendel noted) and open it. Scroll down to 'Settings'. This opens a loooooong list. Scroll waaaaay down to 'Torch Light' (there are two IIRC), and press it. The settings screen is shown. Sett the settings and 'back' to get out.

Is this working reliably for some people? For me it's not unfortunately. It usually works after I have just turned off the device, but when it's been idling for a while then I can't activate the flashlight this way. Bummer.
Torchlight
Since I upgraded to SM-N9005][NOTE3][KitKat 4.4.2][XXUENA6]_BoBCaTROM_EVO_v4.1 it does not work. Probably it is a bug and hopefully soon will be fixed. The corresponding setting appear in WanamXposed but does not work. Does anyone perhaps has a fix for it?

What do you mean by "does not work"? The setting page does no longer show up?
Since on the actual "working" of the torchlight things are already complex on 4.3 - the torchlight only works if the CPU is not in deep sleep! (this however probably explains why that setting is hidded).
I am still using that torchlight with a trick - since only the Power and Home buttons can wake the CPU from seep sleep I press on Power twice SLOW, and only after that I press and hold Volume Up - that way I still get to start the torchlight with a single hand :good:
[hidden setting] flashlight settings
I mean that thoug setting page show up, switch on, but no results. I long-press volume-up and there is no torchlight. I reached the settings in WanamXposed [hidden setting] flashlight settings but no result. I use 4.4.2 Kitkat. Probably it is no linger supported in Kitkat.

I just added a widget through widget locker, which I can interact with. Works great, power button > tap widget :good:
Using an app called Torchie, just press both 'volume buttons' together to turn on/off torch anytime. It runs as a background service and just works anytime, even when screen off (if enabled from Torchie Settings). It kinda make your phone feel like a conventional battery operated torch.

If I press the home button during the lighting...

Google Play MOBILE: A-Light: 1-Click Flashlight
Need advice. A-Light has a vibration at the start to avoid accidental activation. But some people find it annoying in flashlight and a waste of batteries.
Should I remove it? Does it annoy you? )
Nexus owners needed for testing!!! Please test 1.03beta: View attachment alight1.03.apk
New version 1.1 : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=today.app.a.alight
Nexus support added!
New version 1.2 - installing on the sd card added.
1 click action is great! Set up to light up on my.
However, I would like the ability to turn off vibrate. Can you include that?
Why does this app need access/permission to take pictures/videos?

Thank you for the feedback!
If I add the "settings" to turn off vibrate it wouldn't be 1-Click any more Vibration has been added to prevent accidental turn on the flashlight. Some people need this.
About permissions - the led is a part of a camera. Android does not give access to the flash separately, only the camera entirely.
A-Strobe
Please check my new app (in the same style):
A-Strobe: the simplest LED stroboscope.
Switch on / off by pressing the icon. Frequency adjustable by volume buttons.
Works with locked screen.
Test period expired. Now free version available only for some contries.
Paid version. $1
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=today.app.a.aflashlight
Thank you.
I've changed my mind, free version available again in all contries. :good:
But if you install the A-Flashlight (similar app cost $1), I can drink an extra cup of coffee
Thanks!

[Q] Is there an Android app that takes one-click photos?

Is there any app out there that will take a photo when I click the icon? I just want the fastest possible photo. I missed out on so many good opportunities today because I have to start the camera app, wait for it to start, click the shutter button (a couple of times because of CPU or disk lag), etc. I've searched Google Play but no luck.
I think no app is like that..
Then try to reduce the lag of your device...
If your phone is rooted, try greenify hibernate a app to prevent unexpected background processes ...
If your phone is not rooted, only one thing I know you can do to reduce a little lag is go to settings> developer options> disable the windows animation..
Or have a gesture command for your camera... like when you double tap your home screen it will go for camera....

GALAXY S6 SM-G920F Problems

I just bought the mentioned phone and I'm experiencing some weird problems on it. For example, I disabled most of the google apps by going to the App menu > Edit and disabled them by pressing the "minus" on the icon. Now if I want to re-enable them in Settings > Applications by going to the Disabled Apps section, pressing Enable and it gives me the option to DISABLE it again? WTF? Seems like I can't enable any app I disabled now..
The second thing is, it's more of a question really.. If I long press the home button, it only makes a short vibration and does nothing at all, is that normal or should something pop-up?
I mean really!? Ok, when you've pressed the enable toogle and the toggle becomes "disable" it means the app is already enabled and it gives you the option to disable it again.
Long press of the home button brings you to google now app, you must have disabled it.

I don't understand the bold text I quoted from you.. What do you mean? I clearly stated that I've disabled an app, and if I press to enable it, it offers me to disable it.. which is, already disabled?!?!?
Sorry for the misunderstanding but I don't get it how could I disable a already disabled app?!?

I mean when the button has the word "disable" on it. It means it's already running and app is ready for use.. Vice versa, if it has the word "enable" on the button.

I have DISABLED an app, therefore the app is DISABLED. If I want to enable it, the button there clearly says "Enable" but when I try to do that, I get a pop up as I was trying to disable it, which it already is.. Why don't you get it? xD

Ohh I get it now, if you've disabled it and the app is already updated, and you're trying to enable it again. Just click the pop up to disable it again, it just wants you to uninstall the updates and it reverts back to the apps factory version, and press the enable toggle again, the app will be enabled. You just have to reupdate the app again. In the touchwiz home you can directly disable an app but in the applications manager when you try to disable apps you have to uninstall the updates. Since disabling through the home launcher is just a shortcut.
Just touchwiz things.

It's normal, if you're not rooted. It's not really a bug, it's just a feature of touchwiz. My stock S5 and S4 has this, too.

Oh okay then.. I thought I got some faulty phone Any news on when is the ram management fix coming? Seems like my ram is staying at 80-90% at all times.. even when I'm not running any apps..
Also, do you recommend disabling the apps you don't use? For example I have disabled most of the google apps on there, since I'm not prone to use them..

Unidentified side bar on nexus 5

Hello xda,
I need some help. I have nexus 5. It's rooted. And I use xposed modules. I have been a facing this problem since today. Whenever I swupe from left a black rectangular box appears on the side of the phone.. And I tap on it several times, swipe, long press ( I don't know what works) to get rid of it.. Need help figuring out what it is and how to disable it. Images of the same have been attached
Following is the list of modules that I use
Gravitybox
Snapprefs
Clean lockscreen
Zoom for Instagram
I have but not activated
Xmulti window
Boot manager
And had uninstalled xsuite today or yesterday don't remember
Thankyou in advance
At first, reboot into safe mode to check if this side bar is caused by a user or system app.
Then try again without Gravitybox. There's a black border like that when changing the position of LMT Launcher. Do you have it?
Another solution would be to record a log when you tap on it.
Did not understand your reboot into safe mode solution. Can you explain what exactly to do and how to fibd out if it is a system app or user app. I do not have any launcher. How do I record a log?
