Help to recover data from drowned Honor 8 - Honor 8 Questions & Answers

Good morning to all...
At the end, it happened: I fell into the water, and my Honor 8 fell with me. Not sea water, at least...
I left it under the sun for many hours and the screen got better, there were many stains which are now barely visibile.
Furthermore, I can't see anymore "steamy" cameras and light sensor.
Actual symptoms:
Can't power it off. But can't power it on
When booting up with no power cable, it goes into recovery mode. I can only:
- reboot
- wipe data
- wipe cache
If I reboot, goes back to same menu.
"Vol down" moves across the items; "vol up" does nothing.
When battery is near zero, I see a red flash icon, then it reboots, a small vibration, then again the red flash icon, and so on.
With USB power connected, it goes into eRecovery:
- download latest version and recovery
- wipe data/factory reset
- reboot
- shutdown
As earlier, If I reboot, goes back to same menu.
"Vol down" moves across the items; "vol up" does nothing.
If I select "shutdown" it simply reboots and starts over.
Do I have hopes? Can I at least recover data from internal memory?
Thank you.

You could try flash via eRecovery and see if it helps... But I'm sad to say you if you haven't a microSD card It should be hard to recover data without a working system

I have a microSD, but I need to recover data from internal memory, I don't want to flash, otherwise everything will be lost for sure.
Firware is completely stock, not even rooted ... I believe that the "vol up" button got stuck for some reason (due to water), and that's the reason why it always enters recovery or erecovery.
Is there a way to access to internal memory while in recovery/erecovery?
I tried with ADB, but can't manage...
When I use "adb devices" I can't see any attached device.

Firmware version you mean?
It's an FRD-L09 (EU), firmware is Android 8, not sure if it's 521 or 562.

I hoped you have FRD-AL00 because it's supported by Chinese HiSuite version... I sorry but I think your problem is the Vol+ and flashing via eRecovery won't help anyway. I don't think you can restore your internal data unless you boot normally in system...

So I guess there's no way to use adb commands when phone is in recovery mode

Stuck on boot screen... download mode still works.

Hi Guys
This morning my GT-N8000 wouldn't boot. It's stuck on the boot screen displaying "Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1".
I pressed the power button for a while making the device reboot and pressed power & vol-down to enter download mode. Download mode is working so I loaded Odin and the device was recognized so I flashed stock ROM with success. Flash went well and it reached 100% and no error messages from Odin and the Note 10.1 rebooted as expected. BUT... it's still stuck on boot screen.
Is it possible to make a hard reset somehow? Maybe while it's connected to the computer somehow?
I suppose I will have to send it in for repairs
Brgds...
Go first to recovery Mode (Power + Volume Up) and make a Factory Reset, After this CLEAR CACHE. Reboot and maybe thats it. If not, Flash now again with odin.
Your Data and Setting are all delete after this, but i dont know a other Way :-\

Power+Vol up will not bring up recovery mode on mine... are you sure it does on yours?
Okay.... Switch off the Note.
Hold down Power and Volume Up, if you see the Boot Logo, hold only the "volume up" down and release the power button until you see the Android symbol

I have the same problem, my GNote is stuck on the "Samsung Galaxy Note" screen.
I've tried to switch off the note, but the screen goes off for one second and it lights up again at the same screen.
If I plug the USB cable and try to switch it off, the note goes to the battery charging screen.
Odin seems to "connect" with the table.
I can enter the download mode and just that. I can't enter the recovery.
Attached pictures of qhat I get.
Any sugestions?

Then i guess the only way would be to flash a stock firmware using odin, eg the one it came with from the factory.
You should be able to download a stock firmware from SamFirmware, after you have created a free account....

it shows you that i have already tried this method your telling me about and all it says is "Fail" :/
Any other suggestions?
didn't solve mine... ... ...
Agelcer:
I did as you said, but unfortunately, for me Odin always gave me the Failed Message.
I used the firmware file from the link and the Odin 3.07 from the other link as well.
Did anyone get the same result?
And did anyone find a solution for this problem after failing with this method?
Thanks
Usual reasons for fail .
Wrong Firmware / Wrong Model .
Bad firmware download .
I went to a service with my N8000. They put another EMMC and tried something with JTAG (they didn't say the exact details), still doesn't work. What other things can I do, apart from changing the whole board - the most expensive solution (is there a little component that could be damaged and it gets stuck at boot logo)?

Press the power up button and then tap the power button, that should get you to the recovery. Perform a data factory reset and clear the caches and reboot. This is what i would do and it will probably get your device running again.

[Q] Mate 7 16GB edition

Hello,
I am extremely afraid of what answers/comments I'll get but I will have to take my chances.
My situation is this - My mate 7 is stuck on the (glowing?) Huawei logo. I don't know the key combos to get into bootloader (as I am trying anything, ie - power + vol up, etc) and I don't know the combo to the recovery., as they seem to not work.
I am OK with having to start over; meaning flashing the firmware (that's the term I'm hoping) to get myself where I was. I know that I was on the B120SP04 firmware.
My question is - can anyone (please please) just guide me to get my phone back up and running. I need to know what files I can flash and which recovery I can flash it in, etc.
Please help (sorry for sounding like this, it's just that this was a gift to myself because of a very, extremely crappy year thus far).
Thanks everyone for your consideration.

EDIT - to add a little more to this, and I can't believe what a moron I am, I just need to know how to get in to some type of recovery because it seems like no matter what buttons I press I can't even get into anything. So even better - is there a button combo to get into fastboot? I can then flash CWM recovery from there and end my fears of having a phone that doesn't work.
Thanks again all...

Lol nothing to get to much worried about.
Just download firmware of your mate 7.....MT7-L09......Once downloaded you will see a file named "update.app" (you may have to unzip a file to get this file "update.app"
Now from ur pc transfer the "update.app" on ur sdcard in folder having name "dload"(you have to create this folder)
New put your sdcard in your mobile
Now press vol up , vol down and power key simultaneously for 5 to 10 secs approx.
Now the phone will automatically install firmware in your mobile and your will running again normally.
Give feedback if it worked or not?

OK sorry all I'm now trying all the suggestions, thanks for them. I had to charge my phone since I don't even know how to turn it off. It was still at the Huawei glowing symbol (powered by Android at the bottom). From this exact point, do I just hold vol up and vol down for 5-10 seconds then press power button to get it into fastboot?
Thanks again
You insert an SD containing a folder dload that is containing UPDATE. APP. You hold vol + and vol - and power until your mate starts to flash this Update.app file you've placed on your SD.

I've prepared the SD card. However I had a CM based recovery installed - the file was MT7-CWM-EN.img. Right before I started my post here, I tried to fastboot what I thought was the original recovery - file named RECOVERY-ori.img. Does it matter what recovery (CWM or stock) to use to flash this? or do I just use your button combo? One last question (sorry if I am taking too long to understand) - I'm guessing there has to be nothing else on the SD card but the dload/update.app?
Thanks

No boot to Fastboot Mode after flashing/restore

Hi,
I was on Android N and decided to go back to KangVip Slim trough my TWRP Backup. So i opened the Bootloader again and flashed TWRP. But restoring of my backup failed and i started to wipe and delete in TWRP different things. I think i erased to much...
The result is, that now i the phone is booting to Huawei Logo and stucked there. All button-combinatios don't work.
No stock recovery, no dload method and the worst thing...no bootloader mode (USB connected to PC). The phone just reboot to the Huawei Logo.
I opened the phone, remove the battery cable, put it back, but it's still the same. I also discharged the battery and charged again. Same result, it boots just to the Huawei logo.
Is there any thing i could try to bring back to life or is it hardbricked?
Thanks in advance for any idea..
AL10 or L29,L09 to you have?
With AL10 version is easy to go back.
Install Android N again in Twrp.
Install Stock Recovery.
Go Back with Hi Suite.
Your open your Phone to reboot?
Press Power Button 10 sec. to reboot after reboot press 3 sec. to boot in eRecovery and shot down the Phone.
After Power off press Volume Down and hold and put in the Usb Cable in the Phone.
After this boot in Bootloader.
Flash Twrp for android N and wipe Cache,Dalvik,Data and System. Then flash Android N in Twrp.
Hi,
i have a L29. No TWRP, no bootloader mode to flash anything.
What happens when you switch off, then Power on and Press so long Volume up until the erecovery starts?
This must work!
Nothing, just reboot to the Huawei logo. I think there is no e-recovery installed.

Let me add one more step. Connect your phone to the computer via usb cable then switch off your phone. Press and hold Vol up + Power. Release it when you see Huawei logo.
Hope this will enable you to enter eRecovery.
Good luck
I tried that, but no success..
I think the Mate 8 is the first phone that i have brick...
I have the same issue too. L29. No TWRP, no bootloader mode to flash anything. Hopefully someone can guide us through this
Good news..
After I put the phone aside a few days and the battery has completely discharged, I connected the phone with my PC and tried to get into the fastboot mode.
I tried this before, without success. I was shocked when I saw the bright screen! It was in fastboot mode. I did not expect that. I left it untouched until the battery was charged a little bit.
Then i started to flash the NXT-L29C432B560 Firmware. It wasn't possible to do it with the "dload" method, so installed twrp-3.0.3.img and flashed the firmware with TWRP. For help use: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-8/general/how-to-install-nxt-l29c185b560-official-t3556789.
And now it works fine, like never something happend.
So all of you with same problem: Give it a try.
Now i have two babies.. Mate 8 and Mate 9. I will keep both....:good:

Had this problem with L09. I've been trying to fix it all the week long.
If you can access dload mode, follow this guide:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-8/general/huawei-mate-8-downgrade-android-7-0-to-t3530999
If your phone is not NXT-L09, search for NXT-XXX (XXX= your phone model) rollback. It will surely work.

Help - my honor 8 was block - No access Fastboot Mode or Debugging Mode

Hello,
I downgraded my Honor 8 via Rollback and installed the Rom FRD-L09C432B131.
But my phone is stuck on the blue Android startup screen.
I can not use the Volume +, Volume - or Power buttons.
All I can do is let it turn off by itself when the battery is at 0%.
When I put it on, it turns on by itself. Arrives on a blue screen. Reboot once and then stays eternally on the blue screen while heating up enormously.
I have no access to the Recovery, erecovery or via the computer (by plugging it into a USB port).
Thanks

Once your phone turns off, press power button amd volume up button together. This should take you to recovery. Or you can't access this at all?
Sent from my Honor 8 using XDA Labs
I can not turn off my phone. It goes off when the battery is at 0%.
If I put on USB or mains, it recharges and restarts automatically. And I can not stop it ...
When I plug it into a USB port, the Power, Volume + or Volume buttons are ineffective.
And when it's plugged into the PC, it does not show up!
So I do not have access ... except perhaps by a software that would force the connection ... or a manipulation other than Power / Volume ..
When I say reboots, it is a program to display the Android blue screen and hangs on it!
does it say android or honor?
going to dload is kinda tricky sometimes and should be done when connected to wall adapter, not pc
can you keep vol- and power pressed while your phone is connected to pc. keep them pressed even after the phone restarts. dont let go. it might take some time. does it go to fastboot?

Ohhh, sorry my bad
dats prolly because he has mismatched files for the os he's running. he should deffo check if he can go to fastboot. the fact that he cant go to dload doesnt really mean anything because i cant do it either 40% of the time. its a bit iffy. the fact remains, if it boots to honor logo, means some type of os is up there. if he can go to fastboot he can flash stock recovery/recovery2 and try dload again. without proper recovery combo he wont be able to flash anything anyways and warranty prolly wont cover it since its users fault, esp if he has unlocked warning.

Similar to me, only way is go into bootloader mode, then charge the phone for awhile, you cant do nothing cuz of 0% battery, flash stock recovery, update via dload or direct wifi recovery.

He can't go to fastboot
if he completely bricked it, he'd be stuck at black screen/android logo, not honor logo. either he's not telling us everything (ran out of juice while upgrading / error while flashing / flashing wrong rom), there is no chance all key partitions got wiped if the process finished successfully. meaning at least he should be able to fastboot cause thats the first thing flashing alongside bootloader. no way any type of system partition is up there, and bl/fb is not, even if they are from a different OS. h8 can be stubborn at times, but keeping the cable in pc and holding vol_down+power for good 20s deffo will force it to at least reboot. thats the only way. if this doesnt work, you should take it to a service center.
I guess it's better if he takes it to the service center
Nothing works. So I have to send it to the service center
Thank you all !
