"The application for viewing downloads is disabled" which system app is that?
I forget which system apps I removed, I assumed they were ones I never use, like print service ones, or storage manager/file manager after installed ES File Explorer, etc. Anyone recall which sys app manages downloading?

Touche lol..but if that was the app i deleted, it must have been because I wanted the ADM app to replace it...is there any way in going about doing that?

Doing what? Getting ADM installed? Or getting your original download manager back?

I'm not familiar with ADM, but, have you tried converting it to a system app? You can use Titanium Backup to convert it.
The download manager handles downloading files, there is also the "downloads" app that lets you see the list of things that you have downloaded. Did you also remove the "downloads" app?

Haven't tried making ADM a sys app, altho the thought did cross my mind. I just don't know how the os would know to replace the default download app with ADM once it became a sys app. And yeah believe I did delete that too

Download 'rescan media' from play store and run it. Everything should appear after a few minutes.

Go to application manager. Clear the data of media storage. Reboot and wait for half an hour atleast. Also try clearing data of gallery. Make sure the folder where you have your files don't have .nomedia file.
If that doesn't work then something must be really wrong with your rom.

Do a clean install or try a different rom. This looks like the only viable option now.

Uninstalling an app you can't see. Android

Hey,
Like the topic says.. just wondering how you go about uninstalling an app you can't see. When I use a backed up apk file to install it, it says it will replace data and such, then I click okay, and then gives me a message, "application not installed". So that's how I know the app is there...
Its just that nothing recognizes the app as being installed. No uninstall app, no system app... anyone know how to get rid of this app by means of file exploring and not wiping the phone clean??
Thanks all.

You would need a root-enabled file explorer such as the uncannily named 'Root Explorer'. Head into system/app and wipe out the .apk and .odex files. If it's not there, it may be in data/app
Good luck!

So if you get a 'this app cannot be installed' error, how do you know it's actually there? You might be on a wild goose chase?

Just because it prompts me that the program will be updated but user settings and data will be saved. Usually if you're just installing fresh it doesn't have a prompt and all you press is install

how to remove the firmware update notfication?

i am on ics and want to stay on ics for personsl reasons, i am rooted, is there registry files or files on the tablet that i can modify to remove the notfication? i did a quick google search but the solution was for phones (remove the battery) you can't remove battery on a tablet so i have to use something else to remove the notfication.
it installed the jellybean update to memory (400mb) so i want to remove those files too, i hope someone can help me in this situation!

If you have ES File explorer and have all the root permissions checked for the app,I think you could do a search for it if you know what it was called?Or maybe an advanced search in ESF by date?

How do you know it even downloaded? If it downloaded I think it would apply the update immediately.Check in your about settings maybe it is already running the update.OTA updates won't delete your settings or apps or anything like that.

no, it never installed only downloaded because it prompt me to install the update then gave me a option to remind later and then stayed in my notification bar.
Hopefully someone will be able to figure it out. Afraid I'm out of suggestions.

Try the DiskUsage app - it may show you where your 400Mb update is hiding.

I used titanium backup. I can't remeber the specific name but it was def along the lines of software package update or upgrade. This was back when I had that 75 mb update that kept annoying me to install every 3 hours.

the file is called "update.zip" long pressed on the file and selected details, it was 400mb, deleted it after that.

Use any Explorer( Solid Explorer recommended), go to /data search for that app(say facebook) related files and delete all files you find. Main file that is needed to be deleted is .odex file of that app.
for instance if whatsapp in not getting installed, then files like com.whatsapp.odex , com.whatsapp.apk and all other files related to whatsapp are needed to be deleted.
Install the app again then. It should get installed
If this doesnt solves the problem then you need to do factory reset.

I can confirm this after I've had this problem on both SGS2 and SGS4. The path is root/data/app, though, where you will find the .odex file of your and possibly other apps as the last entries.

Anyone pay for Titanium Backup years ago?

So when I initially bought TiBU, it wasn't a key in the PlayStore, it's a .txt file. My question is, how do I get TiBU to recognize this .txt file so I can unlock the pro version? Or do I have to purchase again?

Have you tried reaching out to the developers? I have purchased it.. but I think when I did they had already moved to a different type of verification as I install the app, then the 'premium' one to get all my paid for features.. I found this.. http://www.titaniumtrack.com/kb/tit...ackup-licensing.html#text-license-not-working on their site... did this work?

Sent them an email but you get an automated message back saying they receive lots of emails so try their FAQ site. Maybe they'll respond, eventually. I did try what was in the link but it didn't work. It says to place at the root of the SD card, but this phone has no SD card so perhaps that's the problem.

i am from the txt file days as well and ended up just paying again for the apk version as i switch phones and mess around so much i got tired of moving it around
Make sure it's named TitaniumBackup_license.txt exactly, and it seemed like Titanium used to require a reinstall after placing the text file.
