Sprint Samsung Galaxy S8+ SM-G955U - Top Right Corner Edge Screen Issue? - Samsung Galaxy S8+ Questions & Answers

I just setup the Sprint Samsung Galaxy S8+ (SM-955U). I have Otterbox Symmetry Series case on and a Tempered Glass Screen Protector on. The top right corner of the screen is annoying me so seeking some feedback here. On the top right corner of the screen along the edge I see a small arc/semicircle which is very visible in the white background. Is it due to some setting or something else (dead pixels)? All the 3 other corners don't show this. I am attaching some screen shots here. If anyone has any feedback regarding this, I would appreciate it. Thanks

Seems others have reported similar issue on various corners of the phone.

This has been an ongoing issue since curved screens came out. The s6 and s7 edges some did it too. Most never went any farther than those small spots. If it's under warranty send it in but a new screen could do it too.

Thx. Stopped by a local Samsung Service Center. The issue is caused by dead pixels. They will replace the glass screen (digitizer), LCD and the attached cable(s). I suppose this comes as a whole unit. They also mentioned the dead pixel area could grow over time (no way to know if this is true or not).
I am hoping to get mine replaced today.

I have seen it on several devices. Some older. And from what I seen it normally stays localized to the spots in the corners from the pressure of the curves. But that don't mean it can't spread. 99% I have seen are in one of the 4 corners

Thx. While researching on this, the several pictures I saw had one of the 4 corners impacted. I guess that is why S10 has much less "curved" screen.

Dust under glass? anyone else have this problem?

picked up 2 Nexus S on release day, went home happy. Preoccupied with work, so I only powered them up last night.
To my Surprise, both phones have dust under the glass! WTF Samsung? Removed the plastic sheet on the front to make sure, and yes, it's under the glass.
on one phone the dust was smack in the middle, while on the other phone it was a little left of the middle.
Can't be seen on a dark screen, but once you switch to a white background like the web or texting you can see it.
I know I am probably being OCD and anal about this, but heck I paid over $1k for both phones out of contract.
Went back to BestBuy and returned them promply, of course now they are sold out, and I have to wait for the next shipment.
Just wondering if others have similar experiences? BTW, I also had a Galaxy Tab and before returned it, it also had some dust specs under the glass...
I also own an HD2 and G2, seems HTC is better at QC.
Shame, really want this phone but WTF samsung?
Nope you sure its under the glass?

No dust under the screen here.
It seems that this first batch of phones is a rather mixed bag; some have defects and others are fine. It was a good idea to return them, hopefully your replacements will be free of issues.
My first S had a little speck of something. I initially thought it was a dead pixel, but I could see it when the screen was off also so I assumed it was dust. I returned it and checked the next one out before I left the store and it seems to be good.

100% sure, remove the screen protectors on both of them and rubbed the area where it was, thought it was a dead pixel too, but no it was fine on a dark background, but on a white background could see it easily.
sold out at my local bb, but still available online might go that route.
just wanted to see other people's experiences or maybe they didnt notice yet, lol.

this happen when you have 2 layers for the screen. the internal part and the upper part where you touch.
there is an advantage for this. if god forbid you dropped and broke the screen, only the upper part gets replaced. and wouldnt cost you much to do so " and you wont get another screen with dead pixel and being OCD whatever the new screen is good or not. because the actuall inner screen isnt touched.
the bad thing about is what you said. dust can enter in the middle between both layers of the screen.
even if you get a new nexus S without dust under the screen, if you leave it in the open area with sun and wind always hitting it, you will get a dust somehow inside as well. so make sure your phone is in a pocket most of the time.
the only phone i remember right now that had both layers of the screens touched as 1 part is the iphone 2G and the iphone 4 " i am sure there are others but i dont know "
this result to no dust under the screen no matter what " unless the dust came from factory while they were attaching both screens on top of each other and glue them "
but if you break your screen in the iphone 4.... god help you.
Yeah, after about a week and couple of days of usage, I've got my first spec of dust in the top left area of the screen. Really, it's nothing noticeable but I do have some sort of OCD with my phone (god help me if I get a visible scratch on the screen).
I don't think it's really worth taking it back to get it changed as this Nexus S I have currently has no problems whatsoever, I don't even have the pink or yellow screen issue with this one. I think I'm just gonna have to live with that one spec of dust for now...
I think this may be just bad QC. I looked at ifixit taking apart the NS. Basically they said the trickiest part to the disassembly was the screen, and they had to use a heat gun to soften the glue just to separate the 2 screens. So dust entering between those 2 screens would be pretty difficult unless the glue wasn't properly applied from the assembly line.

I don't have dust under my Nexus S screen... but I do have dust under my front facing camera! And its only recently just got there - I remember playing around with it extensively when I first got it 6 months ago and the camera was really clear and sharp.
Now it is all fuzzy and white haze. And I can see all the dust particles on the underside of the glass. Annoying!
Anyone know if there's an easy way to clean it? Or is it a case of back to Samsung?

[Q] Screen Imperfection!

I just ordered a used S5 Active, and I noticed a small imperfection on the top right of the screen. I tried to scratch it off with my fingernail, and it wouldn't, so I assumed it was a chip out of the glass.
However, then I applied a glass screen protector, and it looks like this (see attached picture). So it doesn't seem to be a depression, it seems to be something actually on the screen. Any idea what it could be or how to get rid of it so that I don't have this annoying bubble?

disassemble will be the only solution for cleaning this bit i think ... in Egypt we have unofficial centres which fix these issues especially for phone like grand 2 which has a tft panel makes a bubble in the middle of the screen when using a glass screen protector

Oleophobic coating on screen issue

Hello form Poland.
So after 3 weeks of having the flat S7 found a coating failure on my phone.
In clean condition there is no mark or visible surface difference.
Just if there is fog or fingermarks the issue is visible. The problem seems to be comparable to the LG G4 problem with the coating.
Attached some pictures.
What do you think? Complaint relevant?
It looks like even my new S7 is suffering from this. When the phone is cleaned its not visible. But when its smudgy, a consistent diagnol line appears. Its not a scratch, its just there.
Edit: pics added
I have the same problem!

I have the same problem and I'm going to service center
did you come there? what did they tell you? what did they do with phone? how did they fix it?
I have the same issue on my S7 edge.
I have the exact same issue around the speakergrill. When I clean it it's not visible but once you touch it and leave fingerprints you can clearly see it. Not sure if there are other areas on my screen with the same problem as it has a protector but hope that it will be covered by warranty if needed.

I also have that issue around the speakergrill. I noticed it after a call, so I thought it must be because I put it against my ear. After a day or two, I noticed it again. Tried to clean it with water, and as soon as I touched it, it returned. It isn't much of an issue, since it isn't anywhere near the screen, but it is a bit annoying.
Did you eventually return your phone?
thats why I bought a Silver color S7 edge, and bought a screen protector...
I have the issue on the s7 around the speaker grill and in the gap between home and display... had the issue on s6 too (around the speaker grill)..

I've got the same problem on my phone. Annoyingly, the day I got the phone I kept the screen protector on but about 1/3 of it lifted off. I short while later I took it off and then waited till the next day till a screen protector arrived.
Fast forward 3 weeks later and I took the screen protector off and now notice the the wear mark, fine when it is clean but visible when smudged. Just niggles at me more than anything. Am considering sending it back for exchange or something.
Did anyone manage to do this successfully? Or did they just say something like wear and tear?
old thread but I have the same issue too, clean it, it looks perfect, the second i touch it and it leaves a fingerprint, looks like a nice long scratch right above my home button on the screen
Just wanted to say i have the same problem around the speaker grill, for now its not too big. Do you think it can get bigger ?
Same problem on my S8. Didn't notice it until day 27 and the folks at samsung are being a complete bear to deal with.

Galaxy S7 Edge 935F , GAP Problem , Talked to Samsung.

Hey folks ,
My newly purchased Galaxy S7 Edge had the Gap issue , i could basically slide a paper through the gap between the edge screen and the frame on both the left and the right sides. Some people have it on top or bottom. A huge number of people have it and most don't realize it. If you do tho , fear not ;
We had a chat with Samsung Australia. The edge gap problem seems to be present in their reference device as well. Plus i've been told by the Samsung Tech Support that the gap is normal. My device has gaps on both left and right edges. I can slide a thin paper inside. I can confirm that even with the gap the device is indeed waterproof. Mine didn't have any issues besides the fact that dust gets in and out of the phone which sorta betrays the purpose of an IP68 certification. On the other hand , we still don't know if this is a major problem. The Samsung rep that helped me through this issue documented our conversation and will be showing that to his superiors to be examined. Hopefully we'll get an official statement addressing this soon.
I'll be posting the images to our conversation below.

I have UK model Edge and can not slide a piece of paper under the edge. Sounds like a production to me?

Regular papers don't go in really thin ones do , did you try something like rizla ?
I would struggle to get anything under to be honest.
There is no gap on mine
Has this S7 thigh gap issue been resolved?
It's one of the few times that a "thigh" gap is not welcome.

it would be nice if you could snap some pics of the mentioned problems..
I just discovered on the top left of the front, I have a gap. I don't know who to contact as I am in the US and Samsung US won't support it.

s8 plus dead pixel-spot?

so this morning i saw dead pixels on s8 plus 6 month old that are currently stuck. white green one red dots .I have been trying a few of those apps that flash the bright colors on your screen for a couple time and no luck so far. Anything you guys could recommend to help me fix this?
Would say looks like pressure damage not dead/stuck pixels. They won't go away, see you have a crack so might have weakened the glass and allowed screen to get damaged.

glass protector cracked and inside is 100% ok on mobile screen.
Samsung warranty is 2 years, would be able to get it replaced free then if there is no evidence of damage. (Take off screen protector before you visit their repair center).
