It probably will. I reckon it will be an evolution as opposed to an evolution. That's my hope anyway

Google have been working with Samsung the last year. Hopefully the've re-written TW from the ground up. Looking forward to this one..

I hope galaxy S7 UI is faster and smoother then Nexus 6P.

i dont think it will be changing to a better one , since samsung is doing the same thing over and over again.

I guess it will be because of the collab rumors with google to smoothen the ui. This galaxy seems as if it is a polished s6.

It's a trade-off. Definitely not as smooth as stock android, but the features blow stock away.
Plus, with custom, Touchwiz-based ROMs and kernels you get the smoothness back. I don't hate it.

Coming from someone who had a note 5 and now a 6P, I can tell you that you are way wrong. Sounds like you haven't used a stock Android phone since KitKat.

Normally I would have glossed over this as I knew what he meant, but then he said "i seriously dont know whats wrong with people how the hell they prefer terrible looking featureless stock android over touchwiz"

Makes no business sense. I heard that rumor many times without any actual proof. While I keep thinking about it. what incentives google has for helping Samsung? None!
It's not like Samsung has problems to sell phones, or Google will lose money if it doesn't help Samsung. For example, all nexus phone suffer from bad battery life. I have used 2 nexus, both were terrible batterylife. If GGogle was so good, they should first improve their own software implementation before helping others, right?

Don't know if anyone has asked this question but is any dev or the lineage team itself working on a native version of lineage is 14.1 for the mate 9 ?
Havnt bought the phone yet but if its getting lineage is I will definitely buy it.

Hi,
Huawei won't release the kernel, so developing a ROM such as LAOS i quite difficult. So no develepment yet.

Agreed, I'm not touching mine until official LOS drops. The stock rom is surprisingly good, tons of great features. Huawei did a fantastic job on this phone!

Hi. Agree about sticking with stock for now. Is there a link that describes in detail what features are on Lineage roms. I've looked around and all I find are download sites but little description of rom itself. Thanks!

My opinion is also this is the best stock rom i ever used!

I'm kind of surprised that there isn't any builds or projects going seeing as how Huawei actually released the sources. For many less than popular phones that I've had in the past, not having source codes and drivers was usually the problem. Sadly on this phone, the problem is that so very few people especially devs know about it's excellence Our best and pretty much only hope is something getting ported over from the OpenKirin projects on other Kirin powered phones.
I do agree with the others though that the stock software on this phone is very good, fast, lasts long and isn't obnoxiously skinned liked TouchWiz and LG phones. So it's not the end of the world. I do hope the Mate 10 takes of though seeing as how great the 9 was, I'm all over a 10 when it drops relatively soon!!! :fingers-crossed:

The problem is that the camera doesn't work with the sources from huawei. :/

I think this is the problem, HM9 have a great stock ROM, and it is hard to devs to bring something better without compromises.
I tried Mi Mix last few days with different ROMS, and now I'm coming back to HM9 because, it is a better phone overall, the software is very fast and responsive and have little tweaks that are usefull, such as blocking internet access per app (wifi and carrier). The camera software is also very good in my opinion.

I just read that there's a new Reserrection Remix (aosp based rom) for Honor 9. It's the same Kirin 960 chipset.

Very sad that there is no Lineage OS, even that now the kernel source is available.
I just bought a Mate 9 L29 second hand (can't take it back now) and I am very disappointed by that damn ugly (G)UI called EMUI 5.1.
I had a EMUI 4 device in the past and I made a MIUI like theme for it combining icons and existing themes. Then I had some Xiaomi devices, and MIUI really is eye candy.
Seeing the damn ugly EMUI GUI (and all those bull**** themes available) I wish I could have an AOSP or Lineage ROM for it.
The hardware is quite good. Display is OK, SoC is kinda fast and the sound system sounds nice.
So, f**** Huawei for messing up that bad regarding the look and feel of EMUI 5(.1) - I had a look at EMUI 8 - it's damn ugly too.
Shame on the Huawei product design team in that case. They had some UI designer from Apple for EMUI 5 (she quit then), and
I wonder how things could have gone so damn wrong. Have a look at pure Android, MIUI or flyme OS or even ZUI or discontinued IUNI os, that is eye candy.

Well, sell it or put a different launcher on the damn thing then, that's one good thing about Android, you're always free to change it. I don't like EMUI either so I run the pixel 2 launcher on mine. As far as lineage goes, unless a developer decides to pick it up you're sol, Huawei might have released the general source to the OS but there is a lot of closed source drivers for the hardware that is not released and unless those drivers are open sourced lineage is out of the question except for the individual developer

What exactly is the problem with the camera in the kernel source released by Huawei?
And how'd you get to know about this, did anyone try to compile the kernel.... or maybe even a rom?

I have had a quick look, and it looks like the Mate 9 Pro and the Honor 9 uses the exact same rear camera setup (So, both camera's on the back )

What if someone could port Oxygen OS of OnePlus on our S7? I've been a fan of OnePlus and have seen great improvements in their OS recently. Reason I'm using S7 and not OnePlus would be cos I love 5inch phones and find 5.5inch way too big for my hands. So ya I've been really dreaming about using Oxygen OS on my S7 these days. Anyone else sharing the same dream?

There are already ported launchers ... so maybe that can help.

Actually it's not about just the launcher. It's a dream of having that stable stock android on Samsung devices, which many of us have all the time.

And I would like to know if it is possible to integrate one UI in my OnePlus 7 pro ?

Tbh id you liked OneUi u shouldve picked a Samsung for your new device. Oneplus is all about speed, stable + features that doesnt make your phone lag.

It's possible.
You just have to make it.

OneUI has made a LOT of improvements over its previous TouchWiz versions, but OOS is pretty awesome as-is. If you want a OneUI devide, get a Galaxy S10

I've had both, but prefer OnePlus device with OOS ecosystem!

I absolutely agree, I had an S9+ before and after switching to 7 Pro, I couldn't be any happier.
The development support on Galaxies just sucks, manufacturers have made it in a way that people can't but run only stock rom to their satisfaction.
And once you've tripped Knox, that's it, can never use SPay, Health, etc. ever. At least there should be an option to lock bootloader back again. Samsungs just suck big time.

I had an s9+ for 3 weeks I really tried to like it, gave up and got the 6t then when the S10+ came out I bought it really tried to like it kept it for 2 months got really tied of the fingerprint frustrations and gave it up and got three 7 pro. I liked the S10+ but always missed the 6T. Battery and snappyness. Came to 7 pro and I was like f**k Samsung.
They use older processors, they give you crappy interface. Well I do miss 1 hand operations+. Root sucks on Sammy. Op all the way.

To answer the question, yes it is most likely possible to port OneUI for our phone just like it was done with the MIUI, but it will be the full Samsung System then and no more OxygenOS. Apart from that I doubt that anyone is willing to take the enormous effort that is needed to take such a project

You can install GSI, but I doubt fingerprint, front camera, quick charge,... would work

I am a fan of OneUI but since using Oneplus 7 pro everything has changed .... I vote for Oneplus UI.

Couldn't agree more. After buying oneplus one i couldn't buy any another one.
I bought all the oneplus devices and will buy in future for sure without any doubt. Community is great for oneplus.

I just hope the camera works well and isn't missing many features. I haven't used ROMs in years but last time I did the camera apps were usually mega neutered, would be a shame on a phone like this where I paid specifically for the camera quality and features.

on AOSP or do you use ANX Camera port or you use GCam.
Paranoid was ported for Mi 10, then support for Mi 10 Pro, then probably Ultra.

Paranoid Android is a great ROM. I used that before switching to Revolution OS on my Mi 9. Both were just, very well thought out, strip-away the nonsense, solid ROMs.
