Hi there everybody,
First of all, I'd just like to point out that I'm new to this forum, a friend of mine referred me to here.
I have a Tornado SPV C600, which as of today, is running WM6 Platinum Edition 5.2.1711.18165.0.5.0 SP1 by NiTroGen.
On with the problem, a couple of weeks ago my ipod died. Again.... So this time I decided to put some music on my C600. 3 days later, the headphone jack got pulled out of the socket when I put the phone back into my pocket after choosing a track. Since then, whenever somebody has called me, or I've called somebody, no sound comes out of the earpiece on the phone itself. The only way I can hear what's going on is by plugging the handsfree headset back into the bottom.
The same issue occurs when using HTC Audio Manager/WMP to play music through the phone's speaker....I have to use the headphones again.
However, the phone does seem to be playing small sounds like the annoying jingle when I receive a text. Which leads me to believe that it is a software issue rather than a hardware issue.
Has anybody ever had this problem? Could anyone point me in a direction?
Thanks,
Bassmad
You've damaged the jack. Probably the solder points where the jack connects to the board, or possibly the spring-like part inside the jack which acts like a switch.
Go to the Modaco forums for disassembly instructions and follow the guide to open yours. Take a good look at the jack; if it's loose, see if you know anyone good enough to resolder it for you.

You probably loosened the stuck springy part or pushed the part back into the board.
Hi, I've had this problem with several devices, and now it's happened again. When I got my phone, I bought the Sennheiser MM 50 Nokia edition headphones, and at first they were working great. Now, after about a months use, the right earbud has stopped working. This is the first time it has happened on my Galaxy S, but I've had the same problem with several other devices (HTC Magic, iPod, etc) and LOADS of headphones. Now I'm starting to wonder if it's something I do, or if this is a general problem that's caused by normal wear and tear.
I've tested with other headphones, and that works, so it's not the phone. I also did a test where I disconnected the microphone part, to see if it was the plug that was broken, but the problem still persists. I also tried to twist the cable all the way down, but sound didn't differ at all.
Anyone with any info on this, and best of all, a fix?
EDIT: To specify: the right earbud still plays, but the volume is significantly decreased. From personal experience, it will stop completely in a matter of days.
Yep, this has happened to me a few times with my Sennheisers. The cable/wire is usually thin hence why they provide the pouch. There might be a crook in the cable. Sometimes this can be fixed by cutting that part out and soldering the wires back together. Usually not worth it if you don't have any soldering equipment.
Hi,
I've had two Moto G's. both have been returned/replaced due to the ear piece/speaker buzzing like a kazoo when someone speaks/audio is heard through it.
I can now only assume it's dust that's caused this to happen, as I use my phone in a reasonably dusty environment occasionally through work.
Has anyone noticed similar problems? Anyone know ways to prevent/cure this should it happen again?
I came here to post this same thing. Mine was fine until shortly after the latest ota. I plan on calling Motorola soon, just haven't gotten around to it.

It could have changed after an update for me too. The only physical change could be the dust, but this seems unlikely because it excluded to a fairly modest amount very briefly!

Have the same problem! I got a new moto g because the 1st one was doing this cracking sound during calls both on 4.3 and 4.4!
The one has the same problem AGAIN!! i am very angry with this because i feel like the phone is fake and very cheap with this extreme bad sound i will try contact motorola

I'm also having this problem. In fact, I'm on hold right now with motorola as I call to swap my second phone for the same reason. I started having the problem on my first phone a few weeks ago. The second phone had the buzzing problem as soon as it arrived. In both cases the phones have buzzed intermittently and tapping them face down hard against my palm seems to stop the noise for a bit. That isn't a good option because you have to tell the person on the other end to hold the phone away from their ear while you do it. It suggests to me that there is something like sand in the speaker.
We have three phones. One other has had almost no use, while the third has had a huge amount of use as phone and audio player using the headphone. Yesterday the speaker on that last one stopped working altogether. It only works with headphones. I assume it doesn't recognize the headphones have been removed. I don't believe it had the buzzing problem.
I love the phones otherwise.
I have sucessfully solved the problem in two moto g's
Hello to everyone.
First of all, I'd like to thank to everybody that have been developing the threads that as made this possible.
I have read many pages trying to understand the problem.
But I'm going to explain the whole process. I HAVE DONE THIS WITH SINGLE CHIP MOTO G 16GB AND MOTO G 8GB BOTH GSM!!!!
You can find the problem starting the call in a quiet place and you'll see that the sound is good, then in the same call you put some music playing around you and you'll start to have the issue. Try it and you'll find that is what happens.
I've seen mostly on Ebay, that this earpieces are selling like cakes, but definetly you don't have a broken earpiece, and you can test it activating SETTINGS-» DEVELOPER OPTIONS-» USB DEBUGGING, then you go to the dialer an dial this code *#*#2486#*#* or you may see in app drawer an app called CQAtest, it's the same thing, but this is only possible with USB DEBUGGING ENABLED.
Now that you have entered in the test menu you see two bars, select the first one, then select AUDIO, after that you see EARPIECE, click on it and make the BUZZ TEST, when it starts you should put your phone next to your ear. You'll be listening an harmonic sound that starts on a lower frequency and goes to an higher frequency, and it wil be repeating itself.
In this step you can for sure know if you earpiece has problems, if you don't listen any distortion in the loop that it's played, THEN YOU HAVE A FULL OPERATING EARPIECE. Otherwise, it's faulty and you should replace it ( I REALLY DOUBT THAT YOU HAVE A FAULTY EARPIECE).
OK. Now that we have tested the earpiece and we found that has nothing wrong with it, we have to take another steps.
THIS INVOLVE FLASHING THE WHOLE FIRMWARE TO JB 4.3 BUT IT WILL WORK REALLY BEATIFULL
I've taken the Android 4.3-Blur_Version.14.91.11.falcon_umts.Retail.en.DE that is the one that really solve the problem, from sbf.droid-developers.org.
Both Moto G's were UK retail one with 4.3 first version (never updated, that so it couldn't install apk's unless they were downloaded from Playstore or GDrive) and the other one with 4.4.2, this can tell us that it is not a problem caused from updating firmware.
I really think even Motorola isn't aware of this problem caused by a little piece of software on the phone.
BEFORE YOU FLASH THIS FIRMWARE, YOU CAN TRY IF IT SOLVES THE PROBLEM GOING RIGHT TO THE SPOT.
Go to SETTINGS--» SOUND--» AUDIO EFFECTS.
Now you'll see a switch that can be turned to OFF, you can try this at first, go back all the way until the app drawer, search your dialer and make a call, could be to your voicemail or another service from your operator that you're sure you aren't paying. Iniciating the call in a quiet environment you can listen well but if you put some music to play from a radio or something that it is near from you, that will increase the surrounding sound and makes the problem reapears, if the switching OFF AUDIO EFFECTS doesn't solved the problem. Try this several times to make sure that the problem it is still there.
If the problem persists go to SETTINGS--» SOUND--» AUDIO EFFECTS and you'll see WIRED STEREO and SPEAKER. In the Speaker badge set Equalizer to OFF and repeat the process of the call in quiet and during the call add surround sound with a level that can match the volume of the call. Then again, if the problem resides in there it will reveal himself right in that point. Try this several times to make sure that the problem it is still there.
If the problem it is there after this whole process and tests, then to get rid of it FOR SURE, reflash or downgrade to the firmware I've mentioned before. After reflash, Go to SETTINGS--» SOUND--» AUDIO EFFECTS, select the SPEAKER badge and turn the equalizer to OFF.
Make the tests I've mentioned before in call quiet, and with surrounding music and you'll be pleased that THE PROBLEM HAS GONE FOREVER.
Hope I've helped.
Cheers
I'm on my 2nd Moto G due to the buzzing earpiece problem. My Moto G is running stock non-rooted 4.4.3.
I used the sequence you mentioned to run the BUZZ TEST and I didn't hear any distortion at all! Amazing!
I'm having some trouble following your instructions though. I did turn off Audio Effects completely. However, the problem still persists. Can you explain why this would produce a buzzy sound in the earpiece?
Possible Solution
Hi everyone!
I found a peculiar solution. Maybe don't work for everyone, but worked with my Moto G and it's very easy to perform.
First, some comments about my case:
I've followed every step described by @jomedeiros ...I performed the CQAtest and the buzzing noise is clearly heard in the BUZZ TEST, especially in the low frequency sound at the begin of the harmonic sound. I should clarify that the buzzing sound was almost unbearable, like a broken speaker.
My Moto G is running stock non-rooted 4.4.4 (latest ota).
I set all the audio effects OFF, equalizer to OFF, etc... etc... But the buzz was still there.
My solution?
Vacuum cleaner!!!
Yes, too easy right? But works!!
I removed the back cover of the Moto G and with the crevice tool accessory, aspirate all the sides of the phone, then for several seconds on the rubber piece where the cancelation mic was, and specially all over the earpiece metal grid, then tapping the phone face down hard against my palm and aspire the earpiece again, from one side to another (gently taking care not to scratch the glass with the vacuum accessory).
In the first round with the vacuum, the buzzing sound drops significantly, and with one second attempt, the earpiece returned to the original sound, clear and undistorted.
Well... In my case should be only dust, but worth the test because here in Argentina the technical service it can take up to 90 days :/
Perhaps it's worth noting I'm designer and don't spent too much time in dusty spaces. Maybe the little dust in the pockets is enough!. Who knows!

Hello everyone.
In the case of the moto G that had the 4.4.2 version, I've downgraded to this one, 4.3.
What is the cause of this problem?
I really don't know, but before reflashing with the mentioned firmware, I have tried all kind of things, also the vaccum cleaner (BUT BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE THE VACCUM CLEANER, IT CAN DAMAGE FOREVER THE EARPIECE) including reflashing with the original firmware (UK) among others and the only solution untill today remais the same. Reflash with the firmware 4.3 bold mentioned in the first post that I' ve wrote.
I can tell that both phones still working very nice until today, and the problem of the earpice has never happened. But both are in the version 4.3. and so far I can tell, everyone that has upgraded their phones have tons of problems with them, so mi wife and my mother prefer to stay with the 4.3 version (so do I because I don't like of what they have done to Android from the 4.3 to the day of today, I have a Note 2 and I'm still with the 4.1.2, because they've messed the Android system in the upper versions and I refuse to upgrade. So this are preferences of each user).
XDA doesn't let me post the direct link here to download the firmware.
So maybe throug pm?
Hope I've helped. Cheers
Another solution
ANOTHER SOLUTION TO SOLVE THE BUZZING BUZZ EARPIECE MOTO G
I have the same issue that many of us had, the buzzing earpiece.
SOLUTION:
- I bought 2 earpiece from ebay 3€ both.
- Then I dissasembly the phone, like is this youtube tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ycER7MH61l8
Its simple you only have to care about the conector, but slowly Ive done it.
- To desatach the battery I use a cut credit card to lift it up and to unglued the black conector from the screen. (i didnt use the hairdrier)
- Then I put the 2 earpiece BUT still making the buzzing noise!!!!
. Then I move the metal spring conector on the earpiece to make it stronger and turn it the other way to use the other 2 conectors that are in the motherboard.
- And voilá, the noise is gone!
The original earpeice probably was working, but I broke it when taking out.
(I know theres some mistakes, but you undestand)
jomedeiros can't put links so here the link for the rom

thanks to him

Earspeaker always bRRRzzing
I post in this old thread because is the only I found googling which try to give some (and different) solutions to the earspeaker making "GRRRR".
My XT1032 has the problem. My first attempt was to wipe, than to reset, then to change TWO earspecker (one from England as OEM and one sold as compatible from Italy), then to try the simcard into another phone (and it works very well inside an Y300, I can't believe that into MotoG 2013 VS Y300 match the first loses ) then to unlock and install a Cyanogen, then rotating the speaker during assembly (in the printed circuit there are 4 fields to give connection and only a pair is used at time), then moving the 2 spring connectors to try to give better stronger connections. From one try to the other the problem persists also using the service menu. So at the last point I revert and changed again the speaker with the original piece. Vivavoice is good and the ear phones too, no distortion.
My conclusions? The original speaker is bad (and I can see that the transparent sheet of nylon is not well plain), the second was worse but very similar in results, the last was really bad and if with the original I obtain a distortion in a window in the low harmonic with the compatible I obtain a distortion in all the low harmonic, from start to the middle.
So, now, the question to anybody who has similar problems: maybe the two earspeakers I bought were not good, or maybe the circuit (I think the ampli) is broken?
Changing the phone because it works very well but not well as a phone is a bit..... frustrating, the battery (original) is good for my needs and the screen too, but trying to change other 1, 2, ... 10 earspeakers without a reply is a dead end....
Solved

Ok, problem solved: this time the eraspecker from eBay was good! It come, again, from england. The first two were simple broken new guarenteed not working special price original best than sh**t Pentium inside tax free etc etc. Maybe some rule should prevent to sell broken new spares damn!
so planning to catch some of the commons issues I seen over the forums, and want to see where people managed to fix issues, and I will add my own from experience, I had read through the forums, and tried many of the suggestions:
this on Erisin KGL PX5 Unit for VW.
I had tried factory MCU firmware, Factory andriod system
then
latest MCU firmware Malaysk andriod system.
and while the unit improved. this did not have any effect on the following problems:
NOISE ISSUE
1- when unit isoff, no sound at all from speakers
2- when unit is on, but muted very low volume constant tune hissing sound.
3- slightly louder volume constant tune hissing sound when the unit is NOT muted (does not go up as volume in increased)
4- data like noise, (like old computer onboard audio, noise is relevant to how much processing is done), this does not go up as volume is increased
a) I had looked into lowering the aux input gain from factory menu, thinking it might be aux in being not connected causing some of the above
b) tried removing every single cable (apart from the harness that is powering the unit)
c) what I will try next, is to see if I can provide cleaner power to the unit, or improve the ground, I am not electrical engineer, so some advice is needed.
-----------------------------------------
"Here Maps" Audio skips milliseconds of speech.
so instead of saying "take the first exit at the next roundabout", it sounds like "take the fist exi at the nex rou bout"
I had tried downloading other voices, but the the problem persist.
I really have no idea why this is happening but will be nice to know how to solve it.
--------------------------------------------
dreaded wifi issue:
unit wifi is really bad although I literally parked next to the router, at my house, and there is only a window rather than a wall i between.
only remedy so far is to improve line of sight, however I read that improving the grounding, or getting better wifi antenna might solve the problem. so will give this a go later.
----------------------------------------------
Radio performance was appalling out of the box. so I purchased fakra radio adapter (powered)
this improve performance significantly, and now it picks up most of the radio channels.
still the radio is not as good as stock radio that came with the car.
as most channels have a bit of crackling sound, very few sound perfect.
----------------------------------------------
the screen is very reflective and barely visible in daylight, (I have light color leather seats) which makes the screen even worse.
so I am thinking of buying anti gloss screen filter.
I would think it will wash out the colors a bit, but I am willing to do that in order to see the screen properly.
as of night time, even when lowering brightness to min, its still bright, so I am thinking of getting something like Lux or automatic adjustment based on time (since the unit does not have ambient sensor)
------------------------------
2 months ago I had also a KGL / Erisin radio for VW with sound problems. You always heard a noise from the speakers. The Boise came from the AMP chip. Then i had a Ownice C500 that also Bad noise from the speakers. Now i have a Xtrons PX5 Unit and there is no noise. Additionally i have made an upgrade from TDA 7388 to Pioneer PA2030A, now the sound is perfect.
how did you upgrade the MOSFET?
are they pin compatible and you can desolder the old one and replace it with the new one?

Exactly. You can buy the AMP on eBay.
I've not audio issues, but for me radio reception is not so good, in particular the AF option works very bad!
Wifi performances are intermittent (I've a 4g wifi dongle; the signal comes and goes...) but when it goes, it downloads at full speed.
Screen is very reflective but lights are ok for me.
I have some problem with google maps app: it locks and I've to restart it 2 o 3 times... I don't know if it depends on the app or on the system.

I have the Erisin 6405V in my VW Golf mk5. All seems to be running fine, haven't noticed the wifi issues really as I mainly use a USB 3G Dongle I have connected.
For your navigation audio, goto Settings > Navigation Settings and change audio mode from switching to fixed(?) (basically the other option, I can't remember off the top of my head) I found this fixed my issue in google maps.
Also highly suggest to do all google play updates (maps/google app/play services) that's improved the stability of alot of the apps I use on my headunit.
I'm (I think) running their KGL_PX5_6.0(20170502) that erisin sent me to fix my bluetooth echo.
My -only- issue I'm finding. I had a previous headunit's I had tried and sent back for various reasons (xtrons and eonon) they detected my car doors open etc correctly but the erisin one doesnt seem to. Not that this is a problem, just wondering where the issue could be as the CanBus settings seem to be correct.
The hissing you hear is caused by the Wi-Fi. Turn off Wi-Fi and you will see that the noise is gone
turning off the wifi does not fix the issue.
as for mixing vs fixed mode in navigation audio, that did not make a difference.
I will open the unit soon to upgrade the amp, and maybe dampen the noise with a help with an electrical engineer

only remedy so far is to improve line of sight, however I read that improving the grounding, or getting better wifi antenna might solve the problem. so will give this a go later.

I contacted them via email.
I had took my unit to hardware lab, and powered it, and connected it to oscliscope.
it seems that there is 25khz noise on the speaker output all the time.
I had tested also pre amp output, and that have some noise too. so my guess is that good amp would cut off those high frequencies, and thats why it sounds better.
I will try to use ferrite cores, and see if it improve the situation, although I think it will not be able to cut low frequencies, but it never hurts to try espacilly this means no need to open the unit. I will report back later
j0nnymoe, can you tell us the MCU version for your unit after the update. thanks
Did you try 2.47 MCU? That's the latest for MTCD KGL PX3/PX5.
I have experienced noise issue #4 when I am using WiFi hotspot from my phone and phone is next to the unit.

This noise is so annoying, it makes me miss my OEM head unit, my car has an OEM Bose sound system with an amplifier under the seat and a subwoofer in the spare wheel, I don't know if this might be the issue for me, the subwoofer and all 8 speakers certainly work, as soon as I mute the head unit, the noise is gone, as soon as I step it up to Vol 1, I xan hear the noise, when the music or radio is playing, I can't really hear it but if the volume is up and it comes to the end of the song, I can hear it and it's bugging me... I don't know of replacing the AMP chip with a Pioneer chip (As mentioned before) would be the ultimate solution to get rid of that noise...
The other problem I am facing is the brightness of the screen in daylight, I have a Dasaita V600 (Specific to my 2012 Mazda3), I barely can see anything during the daytime, the brightness is cranked up to the max, are there any other settings to play around with? Contrast maybe etc...

Disable in Factory Settings brightness control by headlamp, it's something like that, but it made my screen brighter during the day.

Thank you for the advice, I will try this later and report back.

opened the unit today, nothing obvoius of whats wrong.
I noticed that the wifi antenna connected to realteck chip that claims antenna diversity, however the second antenna does not exist.
as for the car amp, still looking into the problem cause, might start digging into the pcb further to see where its going wrong.

I have almost the same issues with the same unit for my Mazda 6 2015.
1. frustrating with the noise at low volume.
2. poor quality of WIFI signal (I'm sending my internet via mifi router)
3. poor quality of bluetooth phone calls.
i had wifi problems with my eonon ga6200f (kld-mtcd) just would not connect at all logged into my router and manually set the channel to channel 3 and its been fine since connects every time now.
i also have a problem with background sound when unit is not playing anything i have an infinity amp so im running through a spdif box from front left and right speakers so figured thats what the problem was been trying to find out if any of the pins not laid out in the manual are spdif out but not getting very far with seller or eonon
Hi everyone,
My 3 years old Android 7.1.2 head unit as a sound balance problem.
When I play music from any music or video application (Spotify, youtube, VLC, native play apps), there is no sound on the right speakers, but what is very disturbing is that every system sound and the radio app sound is perfectly balanced which doesn't mean that there is a hardware problem in my opinion.
Here is the MCU version: MTCE_KLD_V2.78_1 (I updated it right after installing the head unit 3 years ago, so it can't come from an update).
Is there anyone who has encountered this kind of problem and is there any solution ?
Thanks for your help.
Quick update, I successfully fixed my problem and here is how.
I opened my head unit in order to inspect the main board and I found two black deposit, one next to the amplifier ship and the second on the right side of the board.
I used some Isopropyl alcohol on a brush in order to remove the deposits and now there is no more sound problem.
I think these deposits where due to the high temperatures from the first week of June, the plastic protection around the capacitors and the coil melted on the board. If anyone encounter the same problem, don't hesitate to inspect the board in order to properly troubleshoot.
