so planning to catch some of the commons issues I seen over the forums, and want to see where people managed to fix issues, and I will add my own from experience, I had read through the forums, and tried many of the suggestions:
this on Erisin KGL PX5 Unit for VW.
I had tried factory MCU firmware, Factory andriod system
then
latest MCU firmware Malaysk andriod system.
and while the unit improved. this did not have any effect on the following problems:
NOISE ISSUE
1- when unit isoff, no sound at all from speakers
2- when unit is on, but muted very low volume constant tune hissing sound.
3- slightly louder volume constant tune hissing sound when the unit is NOT muted (does not go up as volume in increased)
4- data like noise, (like old computer onboard audio, noise is relevant to how much processing is done), this does not go up as volume is increased
a) I had looked into lowering the aux input gain from factory menu, thinking it might be aux in being not connected causing some of the above
b) tried removing every single cable (apart from the harness that is powering the unit)
c) what I will try next, is to see if I can provide cleaner power to the unit, or improve the ground, I am not electrical engineer, so some advice is needed.
-----------------------------------------
"Here Maps" Audio skips milliseconds of speech.
so instead of saying "take the first exit at the next roundabout", it sounds like "take the fist exi at the nex rou bout"
I had tried downloading other voices, but the the problem persist.
I really have no idea why this is happening but will be nice to know how to solve it.
--------------------------------------------
dreaded wifi issue:
unit wifi is really bad although I literally parked next to the router, at my house, and there is only a window rather than a wall i between.
only remedy so far is to improve line of sight, however I read that improving the grounding, or getting better wifi antenna might solve the problem. so will give this a go later.
----------------------------------------------
Radio performance was appalling out of the box. so I purchased fakra radio adapter (powered)
this improve performance significantly, and now it picks up most of the radio channels.
still the radio is not as good as stock radio that came with the car.
as most channels have a bit of crackling sound, very few sound perfect.
----------------------------------------------
the screen is very reflective and barely visible in daylight, (I have light color leather seats) which makes the screen even worse.
so I am thinking of buying anti gloss screen filter.
I would think it will wash out the colors a bit, but I am willing to do that in order to see the screen properly.
as of night time, even when lowering brightness to min, its still bright, so I am thinking of getting something like Lux or automatic adjustment based on time (since the unit does not have ambient sensor)
------------------------------
2 months ago I had also a KGL / Erisin radio for VW with sound problems. You always heard a noise from the speakers. The Boise came from the AMP chip. Then i had a Ownice C500 that also Bad noise from the speakers. Now i have a Xtrons PX5 Unit and there is no noise. Additionally i have made an upgrade from TDA 7388 to Pioneer PA2030A, now the sound is perfect.
how did you upgrade the MOSFET?
are they pin compatible and you can desolder the old one and replace it with the new one?

Exactly. You can buy the AMP on eBay.
I've not audio issues, but for me radio reception is not so good, in particular the AF option works very bad!
Wifi performances are intermittent (I've a 4g wifi dongle; the signal comes and goes...) but when it goes, it downloads at full speed.
Screen is very reflective but lights are ok for me.
I have some problem with google maps app: it locks and I've to restart it 2 o 3 times... I don't know if it depends on the app or on the system.

I have the Erisin 6405V in my VW Golf mk5. All seems to be running fine, haven't noticed the wifi issues really as I mainly use a USB 3G Dongle I have connected.
For your navigation audio, goto Settings > Navigation Settings and change audio mode from switching to fixed(?) (basically the other option, I can't remember off the top of my head) I found this fixed my issue in google maps.
Also highly suggest to do all google play updates (maps/google app/play services) that's improved the stability of alot of the apps I use on my headunit.
I'm (I think) running their KGL_PX5_6.0(20170502) that erisin sent me to fix my bluetooth echo.
My -only- issue I'm finding. I had a previous headunit's I had tried and sent back for various reasons (xtrons and eonon) they detected my car doors open etc correctly but the erisin one doesnt seem to. Not that this is a problem, just wondering where the issue could be as the CanBus settings seem to be correct.
The hissing you hear is caused by the Wi-Fi. Turn off Wi-Fi and you will see that the noise is gone
turning off the wifi does not fix the issue.
as for mixing vs fixed mode in navigation audio, that did not make a difference.
I will open the unit soon to upgrade the amp, and maybe dampen the noise with a help with an electrical engineer

I also have the noise, this is my second head unit, I had to return the old one due to issues with the buttons... Is swapping the mosfets very complicated? I am comfortable with soldering irons, have used it for other works... Do you have any pictures of the work done?
Thanks

Here is the link: https://workupload.com/archive/49a8wjT
I contacted them via email.
I had took my unit to hardware lab, and powered it, and connected it to oscliscope.
it seems that there is 25khz noise on the speaker output all the time.
I had tested also pre amp output, and that have some noise too. so my guess is that good amp would cut off those high frequencies, and thats why it sounds better.
I will try to use ferrite cores, and see if it improve the situation, although I think it will not be able to cut low frequencies, but it never hurts to try espacilly this means no need to open the unit. I will report back later
j0nnymoe, can you tell us the MCU version for your unit after the update. thanks
Did you try 2.47 MCU? That's the latest for MTCD KGL PX3/PX5.
I have experienced noise issue #4 when I am using WiFi hotspot from my phone and phone is next to the unit.

This noise is so annoying, it makes me miss my OEM head unit, my car has an OEM Bose sound system with an amplifier under the seat and a subwoofer in the spare wheel, I don't know if this might be the issue for me, the subwoofer and all 8 speakers certainly work, as soon as I mute the head unit, the noise is gone, as soon as I step it up to Vol 1, I xan hear the noise, when the music or radio is playing, I can't really hear it but if the volume is up and it comes to the end of the song, I can hear it and it's bugging me... I don't know of replacing the AMP chip with a Pioneer chip (As mentioned before) would be the ultimate solution to get rid of that noise...
The other problem I am facing is the brightness of the screen in daylight, I have a Dasaita V600 (Specific to my 2012 Mazda3), I barely can see anything during the daytime, the brightness is cranked up to the max, are there any other settings to play around with? Contrast maybe etc...

Disable in Factory Settings brightness control by headlamp, it's something like that, but it made my screen brighter during the day.

opened the unit today, nothing obvoius of whats wrong.
I noticed that the wifi antenna connected to realteck chip that claims antenna diversity, however the second antenna does not exist.
as for the car amp, still looking into the problem cause, might start digging into the pcb further to see where its going wrong.

I have almost the same issues with the same unit for my Mazda 6 2015.
1. frustrating with the noise at low volume.
2. poor quality of WIFI signal (I'm sending my internet via mifi router)
3. poor quality of bluetooth phone calls.
i had wifi problems with my eonon ga6200f (kld-mtcd) just would not connect at all logged into my router and manually set the channel to channel 3 and its been fine since connects every time now.
i also have a problem with background sound when unit is not playing anything i have an infinity amp so im running through a spdif box from front left and right speakers so figured thats what the problem was been trying to find out if any of the pins not laid out in the manual are spdif out but not getting very far with seller or eonon

I just recently popped my phone's cherry and unlocked the bootloader so that I could get Froyo on my AT&T Nexus One. Before the update I had setup my phone to plug into a car dock with a headphone out to auxiliary jack to my car speakers.
The volume was consistently good to my car stereo when unplugged from the dock and when plugged in before the update. Now, immediately after I plug in my phone to the dock with the headphone jack pushing media audio my volume is reduced by 10-20%. I have disabled the dock managing my media audio, put everything to max volume on phone, and it still reduces the audio as soon as I plug it into the dock.
Does anyone else have a similar setup? I realize mine may be unique and I'm on my own. Are there any deeper phone settings to check beyond the standard volume controls?
Yeah I have the same problem. And my phone doesn't pick up my voice with voice commands and auto brightness doesn't work with the phone in the dock. Makes me wanna go back to Eclair...
Still have not resolved this by any means available. Maybe the official ROM will fix this issue. Also my paid apps still have not shown up and I am noticing that when I pick up inbound calls people cannot hear me for a few seconds.
I was hoping by this point in June that the official Froyo for N1 would have been released and there would be a ROM floating around but no such luck!
I've had a similar problem when my phone is docked with the car dock. In-call volume is extremely low, but other types of media are fine (i.e. music, navi, etc). My volume settings are maxed out too. I hope the official Froyo release fixes this problem. I use my car dock on a daily basis.
Looks like frf83 did not fix it. Car dock is useless for me. Seeing comments frome google that indicate they optimized for the cheesy built in speakers and hosed using the headphone jack while docked.
Pandora during the commute keeps me sane, and this ruins it. No froyo for me until this is fixed.
What I've discovered is when I car dock the phone media volume gets set to 12 out of 15 on the headphone jack. The volume setting GUI doesn't show that the volume has changed. Changing the media volume in settings doesn't affect the volume until I undock the phone.
Unfortunately for me that's too much output for my car stereo and music gets pretty distorted.
I downgraded to OTA ERD79 and the volume would remain the same when docked. I upgraded to the latest OTA and the max volume setting returned.
Having the same problem. At least I found this problem is due to Froyo, not my car dock.
Still, wished the USB port is still open while docked so I can bypass the Car Dock's circuits and just use it as a holder only.
Haven't rooted my phone yet, but if the devs can fix the issue on a custom ROM, I will root.
i used to have this set up where my phone was hardwired to the radio and after froyo i have noticed this problem too. I have now gone back to using a bluetooth connection (kensington liquidaux) and it seems to not have the problem.
for those following the other thread regarding the degradation of quality not just the low volume (double sucky). the bluetooth connection seems to not suffer the same fate.

You're referring using Bluetooth vs AUX for the dock and car to communicate? I'm guessing most of us don't have that option on our cars.
Check out the Kensington Liquidaux. It is an aftermarket Bluetooth solution that lets you use any AUX connection.

I have been waiting for a solution and still have not found one. I installed the latest Cynogen V6.0.0-RC1 and when reconfiguring for my dock I got full sound! I was greatly excited! Then... it dropped back down to its normal volume.
I need to figure out a way to disable the phone recognizing the dock entirely since I only use the dock for keeping it stable on my windshield and charging. Anyone have ideas?

I don't think the dots would pass through the charge if the phone completely stops recognizing the dock. This problem didn't start until Froyo, I'm pretty sure there'll be a fix for it.
I have the same problem. So much time has gone by since they released the car dock, first it was fine but after froyo the audio settings could not be saves anymore and the volume got much quieter.
No word from Google... nothing, no answer, no patch.
I'm really pissed, the car dock is almost unusable, except you go to audio settings every time you dock the phone and recheck the settings... :-(
there are already some people who reported the problem on the issue tracker. If you have the same problem please star the issue, but avoid giving "me too" comments... as everyone in the thread gets an email for your +1 comment.

Hi guys,
There's so many add-in tools out in the market that can easily solve those volume level issue. (e.g. "Dock Volume", "Car Dock v2", and many "Locale" or "Tasker" apps) So in my personal option, this is not an issue at all.

You're completely clueless to the issue at hand, please stay away from this thread. Most of those apps have been around before Froyo was even released.
When I use a wired headset, people are hearing themselves echo back. I'm running moar Rom, but I'm not sure if its related to the Rom. I've used the original headset and several aftermarket headsets with the same results. When the headset is disconnected, the conversation goes back to normal. I don't here the echo on my end. Anybody else have this problem with the s5?

Anyone?? Blue tooth works fine. All my wired headsets are echoing back to the person on the other end of the line. I found out that its not the Rom, by loading the stock Rom back on the phone, with the same results. This leads me to belief that its a hardware problem with the headset jack, possibly.

An update on my wired headphone echo problem. I think I can trace it to the volume level. If my volume level is set to high, the person on the other end gets the echo. It happens with every wired headset that I have. I'm not sure if its leakage occurring within the phone or the headset. My suspicions are the headset wires don't have any shielding between the Mic and speaker wires. Its either there or within the phone itself. When I turn down the volume the problem goes away for the person on the other end. Bluetooth works fine.

This was exactly the solution I needed for both wired and speakerphone usage, and just wanted to post to let you know how appreciative I am of your self-resolved solo-thread! There are many similar complaints all over the net about the S2's echo problem--with numerous nonsensical fixes and/or warranty-voiding solutions, but nothing remotely helpful regarding the S5. Of all the solutions I came across, not one person mentioned simply turning down the volume!
As a previous owner of the S2, I never had any of the troubles stated by many users, partially because the ICS OS was so clean and easy to optimize. The S5 is another matter entirely; after countless hours and days of immersion in KitKat, I had no clue what of the million one Touchwiz bloatware apps and options was the culprit. Or if it was just a hardware flaw. There was no way in hell I was going to get a replacement for a mere echo since too many hours were already sunk into reconfiguring and installing backed up applications (for a second time), and I was already using a hard-won replacement due to some bizarre problem where the original phone bricked itself.
Nevertheless, the echo wasn't an issue at all at the beginning, but after optimizing and customizing ad nauseam, I gradually discovered that call quality was never consistent for my wired handset, wired headset, wired headphones, a splitter setup, and with the speakerphone. Sometimes others complained, other times they didn't. And after a while--where circumstances forced me to keep the volume setting on maximum all the time, the echo problem, along with a deluge of relevant complaints, became a constant whenever the phone wasn't radiating my head. (Despite the current "safe" SAR info out there, this S5 model is still dangerously high for me as my face will experience numbness when pressed up against the device for extended talk time .)
With the sheer amount variables to test, the prospect of bothering others to double check call quality, and the added frustration of communication-imposed radiation, this simple conclusion would have taken me a long time to resolve on my own.
Many thanks for posting!

The solution is to turn down the volume? Nice free solution brother! This has been driving my wife and I nuts whenever I am driving in Chicago (hands free or ticket, land) using my wired headset. the only downside is my hearing isn't what it used to be...dare I say I may need to go iPhone if Galaxy doesn't get their act straight. Hmmm, I wonder if this issue has been noticed and fixed on the Edge? Thanks again for the only REAL solution I can find on the web.
Echo in headphones~
Another thing to try might me to put your phone in TTY VCO mode. I find the echo goes away and you can keep your volume as well. Let me know if that works for you.
I know this an old thread, but I *just* started having this problem. The earbuds that came with my phone don't have this issue, but one side just quit working so I ordered new earbuds... I have ordered and returned 2 sets of random earbuds, so I finally ordered the OEM earbuds, assuming they would work (since my original ones do). Just got them today and the person on the other end can hear themselves. It's so strange. How is it that 3 pairs of earbuds produce the same issue, yet the original ones work fine (except for the fact that I can now hear out of only one side)?!?
Since the new OEM earbuds didn't solve my problem, I started looking online for a solution. I am a freelance web developer and have to talk to multiple clients regularly and it's nice to be able to have my hands free since I usually need to be on my computer/their website when speaking with them. This is so frustrating -- I just turned off the noise isolation function, I will try turning down the call volume.
Thanks for the suggestion @Xalky
So I just got CM13 up and running, everything was fine until I opened Youtube and started playing a video. When the volume is low I hear a constant buzz (something like a static sound) and some crackling noises here and there (the sound gets a little distorted too). When I max the volume I can't really tell if it's still there or not. The material that's playing overpowers the buzzes. Also it's not happening only on youtube. I hear the same noises on every app that produces sound. I tried fiddling with the included EQ in CM but no luck. Is my speaker by any chance starting to break or what is happening? This and the glorious 1.5 SOT I get from a full charge make this phone better and better >_>... Yay!
Does it happen on stock?
Hmm... I don't really know. I only noticed it today so I can't give an answer.
If the problem occurs with a stock ROM, it could be a hardware issue.
So I flashed stock and the problem is still the same. Should I replace my speaker module? I found one here, but in the title it says it is for the D820 model (I have D821). In spite of this, judging from the part number (EAB62971502) and what it showed on Encompass it should be for D821. I don't know what to say. Are the modules compatible between D820 and D821?
I have the same problem, on every rom, no matter what media is playing. Replaced speaker, didin't change anything
@aciupapa So you say it could be something else besides the speaker? That doesn't sound very good at all...

I think that it could be that some contact points on the USB flex cable (which is the part for connecting LCD, usb cable . mic and speaker) may be vroken or something :/
Won't be able to isolate the exact problem without spare parts.
Simplest solution may be to replace speaker and see what happens.
And about the part numbers and the compatibility thing I wrote previously what do you think?
I believe the parts are the same, the only difference between the 820 and 821 being the radio frequencies.
My headunit started to give static noise from only Rear speakers. It's not very disturbing but i can definetly hear that when i'm not listening music.
The strange thing is static noise doesnt increase when i increase the volume. It only disseappears when i mute the sound. Static noise level is constant if i increase or lower the volume.
More strange thing is static noise reacts the colors on LCD screen. Static noise is it's maximum level if LCD screen is completely black and noise is lowers if there is a colorful picture in LCD screen.
I don't want to dissamble unit from car and send to the investigation. Is there anything i can do ? Like installing a small filter between the rear speakers and the unit? (I don't know if there is a such thing exists)
I have the same issue. There is a slight noise like when you get a phone call on speakers. I am also searching for a solution!
I have to confirm that I also have the same issue with my HA unit.
I'm thinking about ground loop isolation as well as putting ferrite filters on the speakers wires
Try removing or disabling the canbus apk if possible(make a backup of the apk if disable is greyed out in settings). I had this issue on my Eonon unit that included static and alternator noises, which no ground isolator, etc fixed and it ended up being the noise was coming through the canbus application

I'm sure i can fix the issue if i dissamble the unit and check it with my technician friends. But the problem is every dissamble operation is a risk of damaging something on car's dashboard. So i leave it for now.
I picked up a MTCE_XRC unit, Mcu version is 2.72. Everything works great on the unit except ad2p. It sounds super distorted.
I went into the factory settings and saw the Bluetooth volume level was at 14, I lowered it to 10, and it sounds marginally better but I can still hear some distortion. Anything else I can do to help? Is it just crappy hardware?

Lower the volume of the phone Bluetooth to avoid saturation and enhance the volume of the unit.

check the equaliser settings and try another phone or app to play the music from
I tried lowering the volume in factory settings from 14 down to 5 and it still sounds like absolute crap. It sounds like a radio station. I have the md725 chipset.
Everything else works great, its just the a2dp sounds horrible

Try other phone...
Lower the Bluetooth volume from.phone...not from unit...you could be saturating the volume from source

Tried both, nothing helped. I think it is a hardware issue. Might return hardware
Im way past being able to return this unit. I've gone as far as unsoldering the md-725 built into the unit and betting a comfast wu-725 for USB. Didnt make a huge difference..
I also put the hal9k firmware on the unit. still sounding distorted. It's only in the upper frequencies, things like cymbals and such sound very distorted.
I also found a way newer XRC firmwares. V.2.80 and V.2.84. It still sounds distorted. But maybe it's a little better. Not sure.
It sounds almost like this is an hardware issue. I'd like to get another USB bluetooth dongle, maybe a SD-968. But I dont know what chipset that is or where to find one..
help!!!
Here is where to find latest XRC MCUs

I've had the same issue from day one with my dasaita unit to no avail, this seems to be a hardware issue regarding the Bluetooth so I doubt any software updates would help with this :/

Has been this way since MTCB.
my MTCC is pretty clear sounding. (In other car)
other people experiencing this problem, have you opened your unit?
My unit had a newer PX3 SOM that has a mini-hdmi port on it. Specificaly it also had a RockChip RK616 audio chip as well. Looking for commonalities with this issue.
I have same issue on my PX5 MTCE, BT music from my phone is distorted, I can hear taht should be related to sound compression or low bitrate.
till now I did not find a solution. Do someone succed with bluetooth USB dongle?
Nope, dont waste your time, its the same crap.
BT Sound Issues
I got a MTCE_XRC2 with the same issues.
Sound is distorted via a2dp and has high clipping.
The seller gave me un update, the sound is still crappy. I can listen music directly on the unit, so, this is not a biggy. The problem is when calling someone. They can hear me, but I cannot hear them well. The sound gets interrupted and distorted and it is really annoying.
Is my unit defective, should I return it? Or it s just bluetooth module they have in this unit?
Thanks!

I have the same unit from Hizpo. I'm searching for the OEM files. What seller did you use, and can you provide a link to the 'update' he provided? I'm ready to try Hal9k's rom, but without having a factory image to restore to, I don't want to jeopardize the warranty.
Sorry for the late reply, it’s not image of the actual android. It did not make any difference for me, so I don’t think you will need it either...
