This is a patch to fully enable the GSM on CDMA Global phones.
The Global Phones are phones with CDMA and GSM modems but that are usually configured to primarly work on CDMA network and at least to be able to call on GSM network.
The patch is working on every Stock Rom, on every AOSP Rom and on every Android version.
If you are successfully using this patch please comment the thread with your phone model.
This patch will enable:
- GSM/UMTS -> [GSM auto (PRL)] in Testing menĂ¹
- SMS
- MMS
- 3G Data
- USSD Code
- Call Forwarding
- Testing menĂ¹ to manage the baseband accessible dialing the code *#*#4636#*#* (locked on Verizon Phones)
How to install:
- Copy the .zip file to the external memory or memory card
- Reboot your phone and enter on your custom recovery
- From the Install menu select the .zip file and instal withotut signature verification on your Rom
Risk of briking:
- no one: during installation the installer checks everything is ok and stop installation in case of problem; in case of problems after installation the old settings can be restored by simply installing the patch a second time. In this way you can test the gsm settings without any risk.
Advice post-installation:
- If the patch has not been installed on a clean system then you have to do a factory reset
- On the AOSP Roms the Patch is persistent, when you will update your rom you do not have to reinstall the patch
- *#*#4636#*#* -> Phone info -> Set prefered network type -> GSM auto (PRL)
How to uninstall:
- To uninstall the patch you have to reinstall it a second time from the custom recovery
The patch should work on every CDMA Global Phone.
The patch should work on every Rom.
Download the patch here
If someone successfully use this patch on some other model please leave a comment in this page, so I will be able to update the above list.
If someone has edited this patch to support some other phone please inform me so as not to waste information and in this way I can update the patch.
Any help is precious.
HOW TO POST REQUEST FOR HELP:
You have to entirely read this thread, I do NOT answer redundant question.
If you want to know if the patch is compatible with a phone then you have to attach the /system/build.prop in your post in this thread because i don't know all phones. (You can also send me the build.prop as attachment via the contact section of my site.)
If you installed the patch and there are problems you have to attach (and do not post) your /system/build.prop and your /system/build.prop.bak.
I do not answer to requests for help in private, I have neither the time nor the interest in doing so.
Any doubts, questions or requests must be posted in this thread in order to answer a single time and help everyone.

The patch has been updated.
The patch has been update.
Everyone can help me to extend support for more phones.
Thanks.
Patch updated for better GSM support.
works flawless on my Razr xt912 in Pakistan using Gsm network.
Thanks a lot man.:good:
Available a new update to solve problems with apns on 4.3.x roms.
It works on my Droid razr Maxx xt912 with CM10.2-20131020-NIGHTLY-spyder ROM, my phone is using GSM carrier
New version working well on Vodafone Ireland with cyanogenmod 10.1.3 on XT912.
This version also leaves the ROM version intact - older version for 10.1.2 seemed to update the string.
The version that changed the string was only for the xt894 with cm 10.1.2, that was the first version.
Works great on my XT912 with MIUI v5. Thanks.

I may have misinterpreted the topic I guess, but did install this while I was overseas with my Verizon phone, everything was fine but now it seems as I am unable to find 3G network back in the US. I have changed the specs from GMS/CDMA , etc on the settings but no signal of 3G/LTE.
Anyone has had this issue before? Any way to turn it back to normal so that I can get data here in the US?

In US you can not use the GSM on many Verizon phones, you have to use the CDMA and you have to restore build.props and apns list.
The patch has been successfully tested on droid bionic xt875 in and outside the US and on droid 3 xt862.

Mentor I have a question.
I flashed on XT912-Spyder CM 10.1.3 but even before I did flash I would have no service at all , I have Euorpean sim card which has active roaming.
When I put it into iPhone 4S it shows T-Mobile USA but in settings T-Mobile.Poland settings so it roams, it gets signal, receivies texts.
IN XT912 it only shows phone number in settings that is all , i flashed your patch.. I will do it again maybe it will help I don't know.
Can you help me? if I get sim to work I will have my buddy replace screen, battery everything and put this phone into use for someone.
You could try installing the patch on clean system before first boot without restore any backup.
Let's me know.

EDIT:
Same thing I just did what you told me it instantly showed the European phone number Poland area code +48.
Signal Strength : 0 dBm 99asu
I can't understand how when I put it in Verizon 4S which was Unlocked by VZW it shows signal, receives texts etc.. the droid razr after JB update was suppsed to be unlocked for European use for example.
It even synced local time in Poland which is +6 hours! it seems to pull up number and time but no signal
Is there anything else I can try?
In your recovery: factory reset, wipes, install patch and then reboot phone.

Yep did that and still no ago same thing.
Before I got the phone (Got it for free)
when I first put AT&T simcard it showed me roaming triangle for few seconds ever since that time the signal just does not work.. at all.
The xt 912 is GSM locked in the US and could be locked for AT&T sim outside US too, you could try with another sim.

Well yes I know so why when I put in T-Mobile Poland sim card which roams on T-Mobile USA it shows nothing but only phone number? it's weird.
Works fine in 4S unlocked by Verizon.
Can I ask any SIM FREE Nokia 3 users in UK if they have received the Android 8.0 update as of May 19th?
I suspect my network could be to blame for the delay, as I'm using PLUSNET (which piggybacks the EE network)
The device is currently on android 7.1.1 and was purchased from the carphone warehouse in Norwich brand new and SIM free some six weeks ago.
I'm also experiencing a strange occurrence after a factory reset.
The EE app keeps getting automatically installed after a factory reset, which is strange because I'm not an EE customer!
Can anyone confirm their update in UK or explain why the EE app is getting installed to a sim free device after initial set up?

It's not just you I am on Three UK as is my friend both devices are sim free and his has never been rooted or bootloader unlocked. The Carrier app's get installed due to some .xml settings in the CDA Partition which check the network id number and then install the appropriate app if one exists.
Not sure why the UK is one of the last to get the official Oreo update but hopefully it will very arrive soon. :fingers-crossed:

Well, I've got the update but the process is a little long winded and had a hiccup along the way.
So, you need to remove the SIM card.
factory reset.
Sign into WiFi and Google account.
Select to restore your back up (this can be skipped if desired)
Once the back up is restored, connect to a Finland VPN
(I used express VPN from playstore)
Check for system updates, it will give you the android 8.0 notification.
Select to download
(I had to download it twice as the first time I encountered a verification error)
Allow to install.
After reboot replace sim card.
The process takes roughly 45 minutes to complete.
Edit
I've just read on Reddit there is an issue with all Nokia devices receiving any system updates in UK that Nokia / HMD will not confirm.
It's not good we have to factory reset and select other nations VPN to get system updates.

No it definitely isn't. So you're saying India VPN didn't but Finland did? I will keep that in mind. Perhaps it has to do with the fact that your phone is the European version

Cheers for the info. :good:
Is the TA-1020 available in India
If it's not then that would explain why the Indian VPN did not work.
I will wait and see if they sort it out as I am on the Oreo Beta anyway and now they have released the Kernel source my aim would be to try build LineageOS or some other OS.
If anyone with the TA-1020 who has installed the official Oreo could pull the system, boot and recovery with SPFlashTool for me that would be great as I would like to use the none beta Oreo for building the device and vendor trees. :fingers-crossed:
PS:
BTW What is the Kernel version on the Official Oreo as they have released the 3.18 version and I was kinda expecting the 4.4 version.

3G network on Oreo was bad for me, only 1-2 bars while on 7.1.1 is 3-4 bars (4 bars mostly). I hope that they fixed this issue.

I've haven't yet had under full strength signal on 3G or 4G, but I've only had the 8.0 for update 24 hours so I'll keep my eye on it.
Battery is much better on Oreo, last 3 to 4 hours longer than 7.1.1

Did you try the VPN trick without the factory reset?
I don't understand why HMD aren't providing the files to flash manually as that would help get the update out to the UK faster.

OK, so maybe it's a bug that clears up after the factory reset. I know that on reddit some people are saying that just removing the SIM and clearing the Google Services Framework works as well so I'll give that a try and see what happens.

Yes I read the Reddit posts regarding clearing Google play services data and that was the first step I tried (as well as removing the sim)
That didn't work so I then spent last weekend using the factory reset / VPN method, but I found the India VPN method didn't work either.
I did not have any success with getting the 8.0 update notification until I factory reset and tried the Finland VPN, which worked fine.
I would be careful using the VPN method as one person on the Nokia Support forums has had issues with mobile data:
https://community.phones.nokia.com/support/discussions/topics/7000025647
It could also be related to the fact that there are two different versions of the Nokia 3, the TA-1032 and the TA-1020. The TA-1032 seems to be receiving the Oreo update but the TA-1020 seems to have been forgotten.
First of all a BIG thanks to ed-gonzo
He made this possible
This is the instruction to activate VoWiFi / WLAN Call on the Poco F1
Its tested and verfied to work with EU ROM (Oreo , Pie and Q based) and german provider o2 (Telefonica)
Before you read on i want to make clear that I am not responsible for bricked devices !
Basic requirements are root rights to do this mod
Maybe latest 2020 Qualcomm Diag QD-Loader Windows 10 Drivers signed are needed for this to work.
!!! Before doing this Mod you should backup EFS-partition !!!
- download QPST tool and install
- enable USB debugging in Developer settings
- now either go to terminal app and type:
Code:
su
setprop sys.usb.config diag,serial_cdev,rmnet,adb
or
adb from PC
Code:
adb shell
su
setprop sys.usb.config diag,serial_cdev,rmnet,adb
- connect Poco F1 with original USB cable to PC
- start PDC (from QPST tool) on PC
- Poco F1 should be recognized by PDC (if not install Qualcomm driver and check Device Manager)
- activate corresponding profile (in case of german o2 its DT_Greece)
- install VoLTE & VoWiFi Enabler Magisk module (optional) or activate setting with dialer code *#*#869434#*#*
- restart Poco F1
- Voila
FAQ:
Q: What are the requirements for VoWiFi
A: A provider resp. plan which includes VoWiFi
Q: How to know if VoWiFi is working ?
A: Put phone in airplane mode and reactivate WiFi only. If you are able to make a call then VoWiFi is working.
Q: Does this only work with MIUI ROM ?
A: No ... its reported to work also on Custom ROMs like LOS, crDroid ...
Thx for this guide! Have been waiting for this.
Does this work with custom ROM (LOS)?
in case of german o2 its DT_Greece? are you sure? german carrier and greece?

Ok thx will give it a shot as soon as I get access to a windoze PC :highfive:
Ok this definately didn't work on my Poco-f1 with latest LOS16 and 8.11.15 vendor/fw. Funny thing that VoLTE now seems to be gone (Device switches back to H+/E). Got it back by restoring efs. Has anyone else been successful with this running custom ROMs? Even without this "hack" I have been able to activate VoWIFI after 8.11.5 update but it didn't work so I guess this depends on FW version.
Two things - a little offtopic though: Any Idea if this can be tried on the MiA1? I suspect that xiaomi doesn't include support in it's firmware for this device at all and I 'm afraid to cripple both my devices (Poco and MiA1) at the end .
Has anyone had success getting HDVoice with BT headsets on the Poco-f1 with custom ROMs? Sorry for asking this here but in the LOS thread I seem to get ignored with this question / bug report.
@saski4711

Yeah bummer. Will give it another shot the next days maybe I messed up somewhere. Isn't this device supposed to get VoWIFI by default with the Pie update anyway? Maybe this will work OOTB with final pie?
not works with EU pie rom to me too. from Sri Lanka we have VOWIFI network. tried switching many profiles but not works .

Dont know ... i'm on Stable EU ROM 10.0.6.0 (based on Oreo)
I know for sure it worked out of the box after pie update on stock beta with a service provider in Greece.
Can make settings appear with *#"#vowifi#*#* but being in India don't think providers support vowifi so doesn't work.

2 diff statement.
Can enable with code but doesn't work in india.
It worked for a friend in Greece without doing anything immediately after pie update.
What I was suggesting that maybe and just maybe if provider supports it ,vowifi can be enabled simply by code.
It is working perfect. I did some test calls on wifi. Thumb up..... BTW I'm on German Telekom D1

could you please tell us which ROM you are using and which profile you activated within PDC ?
I'm using 8.11.27 global beta and I modified the DT_greece section. Set sub0 and sub1 to active.
Opened dialer and dialed *#*#vowifi#*#*
ok this works, just needed a bit more work for WoWiFi in my case
after a reboot it kept returning to my default carrier config (VoLTE working just fine anyway)
so what I did was to remove my carrier config from within PDC Tool, just that by doing that it defaulted to a non-VoLTE config
well, removed that also and this time it kept DT_Greece config on both subs
VoLTE works and VoWiFi also (carrier Orange Romania)
ps. don't restart phone if you want to test new configs
just click on activate and enter airplane mode then exit (keeps testing faster)
I've gotten as far as I can with my Mi Mix 2S, works on both AOSP and MIUI to allow the radios to be enabled, and the settings to appear in MIUI (AOSP usually shows them anyway).
With this said, I tried only enabling the WiFi option on the carrier that already had the sim activated...
I see many people here on different carriers in the EU who enabled the DT_Greece options and voila. Is this an accurate conclusion? I'm wondering if I just need an answer from a carrier other than my own to acknowledge the WiFi option exists to turn it on? Being in the US it seems as if the DT_Greece config could cause some problems, but it's not an option in my list. I don't know at this point.
Edit:
Tried all the US bands and even a few others, specifically ones that said WiFi. None worked so far, I'm going to cry! :crying::crying::crying:
I tried this on a Redmi Note 5 Pro but after selecting the device in PDC it throws an error message and doesn't show the list of carriers.
I've tried QPST 2.7.420 and 2.7.474 and a couple different pie roms, windows 7 and 10 but it always fails.
I can use EFS Explorer and dump the NV data just fine though...
Might be a few stupid questions, but here it goes.
I'm trying to get native call recording by changing the region on my Find X2 Pro. I'm currently running on Android 11 version C72 in UK
Code:
[ro.vendor.oplus.euex.country]: [GB]
[ro.vendor.oplus.market.name]: [OPPO Find X2 Pro]
[ro.vendor.oplus.operator]: [EE]
[ro.vendor.oplus.regionmark]: [EUEX]
[ro.vendor.oppo.exp.version]: [CPH2025EE_11_C.72]
The current guide for switching region doesn't work as the code to access the regions doesn't work anymore (past version C.61, I think). Tried also some roll back firmware's I found online, but don't work.
So, my questions are:
1. If I do a factory reset, will the phone revert to the Android version the phone came with (Android 10 ColorOS 7.0) or will is stay on Android 11 C.72 with all the data wiped.
2. If I do a factory reset and it stays on Android 11 C.72, and take the sim out, do not connect to wifi (without wifi I know I won't be able to connect with a google account to restore apps, I will just skip), and in the setup I select a region that supports call recording (like Singapore) and after I finish the setup put in the sim, will I have native call recording, theme store and any other goodies that have been removed in the EU/UK market?
May I ask how did you find this info about your device?
i am running the t mobile version with the global firmware. i updated with the indian version before everyone realized that it wasn't a global version (like every past OOS update). had the no signal issue (i'm assuming the indian version doesn't have the right radio bands for the us versions). i rolled back to OOS 11 and got my data signal back, waited for the global/us version (which just came out) but when I try to flash it I am still getting the same no signal issue. Oxygen Updater still thinks i have the Indian version, it says:
"It looks like you've selected the wrong device, "OnePlus 7 Pro" instead of "OnePlus 7 Pro (India)"
In Android Settings, phone is listed as GM1917 (Global/International Version)
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
I was able to regain tmobile data by flashing the modem.img from oos11 to finally fix this. Give it a shot go here. Do a data backup in case.. I had no problems until I did a data wipe after setting up the phone. I am not sure if this is a good fix or not but it works on my phone. Anyone else have a suggestion I am open to it.
So to do this I need to unlock my bootloader and setup TWRP? Right now everything is stock other than the global firmware...
