No Signal on OOS12 (T-Mobile 7 Pro on Global Firmware) - OnePlus 7 Pro Questions & Answers

i am running the t mobile version with the global firmware. i updated with the indian version before everyone realized that it wasn't a global version (like every past OOS update). had the no signal issue (i'm assuming the indian version doesn't have the right radio bands for the us versions). i rolled back to OOS 11 and got my data signal back, waited for the global/us version (which just came out) but when I try to flash it I am still getting the same no signal issue. Oxygen Updater still thinks i have the Indian version, it says:
"It looks like you've selected the wrong device, "OnePlus 7 Pro" instead of "OnePlus 7 Pro (India)"
In Android Settings, phone is listed as GM1917 (Global/International Version)
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I was able to regain tmobile data by flashing the modem.img from oos11 to finally fix this. Give it a shot go here. Do a data backup in case.. I had no problems until I did a data wipe after setting up the phone. I am not sure if this is a good fix or not but it works on my phone. Anyone else have a suggestion I am open to it.

So to do this I need to unlock my bootloader and setup TWRP? Right now everything is stock other than the global firmware...

AT&T Note 8 on T-Mobile

Upgraded to Note 9, want to pass my Note 8 on to a T-Mobile user. I want a complete T-Mobile experience, so all T-Mobile bloat and settings are needed (VoLTE, Hotspot, etc...) . Note 8 currently has latest CRID OTA from ATT. Looking for help in determining the correct way to proceed. I am having AT&T carrier unlock the device, so I would make this change after confirmed unlock. Also, once this is finished, will the device receive T-Mobile OTA updates?
I have read through https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-8/how-to/guide-sm-n950u-u1-t3685884 but am confused. I see lots of mention of combination files, CSC changing, etc... that seem overkill for what i'm looking for.
Are these the steps I need to take?
1) Download latest Odin compatible TMB Firmware (which is what version?)
2) Download Odin on PC
3) Factory reset Note 8
4) Flash TMB firmware
5) Insert TMB SIM card
6) Success?
Yes just download this file
https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/galaxy-note8/SM-N950U/TMB/download/N950USQU5CRIA/237765/
Flash everything with Odin and you will have a full 100% T-Mobile Note8 with all carrier features working

I saw here that simply flashing a different carrier firmware will not actually change carriers?? Is that correct?

Someone in that thread said I would need to flash an unlocked U1 firmware and then the TMB firmware?
I am about to do this as well, switching from AT&T to T Mobile using my AT&T branded Note 8. I just wanted to confirm that it's as simple as downloading the latest Android Pie firmware for T Mobile and flash it to the AT&T branded phone? Any precaution like some other thread mentioned to flash the U1 (unlocked) firmware first then flash the T Mobile firmware?
Also, eventually, I will be giving this Note 8 to someone in China. At that point, is it better to flash the unlocked version of firmware or just leave the T Mobile firmware on it?
Thanks so much for your help.
Note: the phone is already unlocked.
I just wanted to let everyone know that I went and got T Mobile. After the new SIM card was inserted in my AT&T Note 8, after a reboot, it did something, a screen with a SIM car graphics and some moving dot. Then it rebooted itself again, and then T Mobile splash screen showed up. It even added the bloatware from T Mobile. So, Android 9 for Note 8 probably has both ROMs? I also checked the firmware version. It shows the latest T Mobile ROM.
I didn't have to do anything other than just inserting the new SIM card from T Mobile.
This is very interesting to me, and the store guy couldn't believe his eyes either.

And i was wondering why my phone still showing at&t bloatware even after installing the Verizon firmware. ? Now i understand Cuz I'm using at&t sim. Good to know?
Another update!
I just got updated by T-Mobile to the latest firmware after converting over as previously stated. I have to say that the update page on the phone for the T-Mobile firmware is MUCH nicer and informative than the ATT version. It tells you how much time left, the version numbers, and even a "what's new" section...
After this update, my phone is actually better at battery usage.

Do all AOSP ROMs break T-Mobile variant?

I have a T-Mobile OP7 pro that I've had unlocked from the network, and I've been running the international version of OOS for some time. This week I tried changing to Havoc OS (because I've used it on previous phones), and now I'm stuck in a bootloop. I don't even get to the ROM's boot screen. I know I can put factory software back on there, but I'm not ready to give up unless someone here knows whether it's impossible to run AOSP ROMs on a T-Mobile OP7 pro.
You're better off converting the phone into the international variant using the MSM tool. I have a converted unit, and all ROMs work properly after conversion.

t-mobile and betas

So I've been reading and just trying to verify if I'm using the T-Mobile version of oneplus 8i can't install the betas? If I'm wrong can someone point me to the correct version to install? We just got beta 3

The T-Mobile software removes the ability to install update from local storage. You would have to convert to Global to be able to install the betas. I am running a T-Mobile OP8, converted to Global, running beta 3 no issues.

Make sure to read everything on the thread. Pull an image of your persist and your modem before flashing global. Some people lose network and/or FP, though having those two files can typically repair them pretty easily. If something bad happens during the conversion, you can use MSM to go back to T-Mobile firmware, but that doesn't fix your FP reader. That's why grabbing the persist is most important. You can do both from booting TWRP. Back up the modem directly in TWRP, and use adb shell along with "dd if=/dev/block/bootdevice/by-name/persist of=/sdcard/persist.img" to make an image of the persist. Once on global, you can simply install the update through the local upgrade process and go from there. From what I have read, you do lose 5G SA. I don't know if this is still valid on the latest beta or not, but it is something to note.

Using a program like LTE Discovery will tell you. In my case, it indicates I am connected to NR NSA 5G. I have not ever seen my phone go to SA 5G since converting, and I do live in an SA location and have connected while on T-Mobile software. See screenshot.
Mine says 5G NR

I have noticed it takes some fiddling with WiFi to get it to display network type. The 5G detection is still a WIP. There are probably other apps that may work better, but I am just used to using LTE Discovery over the years.
I'm also on a tmobile converted to global phone. Using Beta 3 and getting random errors with the sim card where phone says "no sim". Happens 1-2 times per day. Only way to fix is to reboot or eject the sim and reinsert. Either way, back to full bars for a few hours. I backed up modem and persist, but I don't think the Android 10 modem will work on Android 11. Also, can't flash because TWRP doesn't work on Android 11 yet. Very frustrating, looks like lots of reports of this happening on Oneplus 8 phones (Tmobile and unlocked) on here and oneplus forums. No solution found!

OnePlus 7 Pro running OS12 Beta 2 no signal.

I have an unlocked Tmobile OnePlus 7 Pro running the latest OS12 Beta.
However I have no signal. It says something about Oroaming, and to pay for International Roaming.
Does anyone have a fix?
did you find a fix for this? i am running the t mobile version with the global firmware. i updated with the indian version before everyone realized that it wasn't a global version (like every past OOS update). had the no signal issue (assuming the indian version doesn't have the right radio bands for the us versions). i rolled back to OOS 11 and got my data signal back, waited for the global/us version (which just came out) but when I try to flash it I am still getting the same no signal issue. Hmmm. Tmo here too. Used Indian global fw. I have signal.

Question SM-F721U1 with sm-f721u firmware

Hi all,
Anyone tried to burn a SM-F721U1 device with sm-f721u firmware?
I remember doing it on a note10. Question is if it's still possible?
seems to flash just fine. I have only found tmo and u1 with july patch... are there others?
I tried. Mobile network get disabled. Grey out in status bar. I am using US Mobile services. I have to do a fresh flash A12 VZW build to get back working handset.
I was wondering this as well. I purchased my first unlocked phone and now I wait for the 13 update, while the T-Mobile version is already out. I am on T-Mobile, so I'm guessing it will work just fine. Will my phone still be "unlocked" if I flash the SM-F721U firmware?
