[Feature request] Automatic frame rate switching - MX Player

Hello,
I'm a registered user of MX Player (MX Player Pro) and I miss this feature on my NVIDIA SHIELD TV. NVIDIA is not going to add automatic frame rate switching because they say this feature should be implemented in each video application, not in firmware. MX Player is the video player with the best picture quality I have ever seen, but this feature is necessary on NSTV because we have to set the frame rate manually in Settings for each video file.
Thank you. Best regards.

I need this function for Amazon Fire TV 4K too. Please implement this, if possible. Hint: The SmartYouTubeTV app (free on github) has working AFR.

Please implement this feature! The Vimu Player, Plex, Emby works better!

or KMplayer.

If you use Kodi and set MX Player as the default video player in playerfactorycore.xml it will switch the refresh rate first, then send the video to MX Player to handle the playback.

Sharing from other apps to Mx player

Hi,
I would like to be able to Share a particular video I am watching (for instance, from YouTube or YT Mobile) to MX Player. There is only 1 media player that I know I can share to most anytime. It is called BS Player. But I would much prefer to share to MX Player. I don't believe there are any copyright concerns nor technical problems to prevent this.
Would you consider adding this feature, because MX Player is definitely the way to go!

It's because BS has implemented to YouTube API to particularly play youtube videos.
The MX Player had a intention to app youtube support. But, it was on alow priority since there are some other features he is currently working on. Anyway I will ask the developer again in this regards & reply back to you.

Support vlc://http://video streaming ?

I have a question you can add to the MX PLAYER startup options via video link:
If I have become fixed on the HTML page .... It is caused by the feature of → vlc: //
LINK:
vlc://http://something.com/something.mkw
Call up all the android player with support for VLC. Interesting that just running to play may KM PLAYER.
So I ask if he would go add support also MX PLAYER. And to make video play that way. Thanks

This method is used long ago. Eventhough It's supported by some third party browsers, Google no longer supports the custom schemes to call the app. It won't work on chrome as well from version 25.
Instead you can launch any app by using appropriate intents. MX Player supports various intenet parameters. You can call MX Player directly and pass more details like subtitles, titles, etc.
You can refer MX Player API page on official site for more information.

[feature request] auto change the TV refresh rate (Hz) to match the video (FPS)

hi guys, as a long time user of mx player pro i'd love to make use of it on my nvidia shield android tv as well. however, since nvidia implemented the ability for apps to change the TV refresh rate (Hz) to match the video (FPS) a couple of updates ago, it looks like mx player missed the boat in this respect to "competitors" like kodi, plex and archos :-/
please see below settings screens of both kodi / spmc and archos player (i could add plex settings as well if that helps) - I'd really love to see this option in mx player as well - many thanks!
kodi/spmc >> up.picr.de/26647725zr.jpg
archos player >> up.picr.de/26647800by.jpg
Would love to have dynamic refresh rate switching. Any chance to have it implemented on the Shield TV?

Feature Request: Float Video Player & Streaming Recoding

Helo Developers. Kindly Add two of the Very Needy & Futuristic features in MX Player Pro.
1. The MX Player must be of Floating video player. we can watch videos while playing games or texting to someone. As it is so much needed feature.
2. The MX Player Must Record the Live TV Streams. It should be added.
3. The MX Player Must Support to Save organize the Tv streams List according or desire by user.
I hope so, developers must have keen observation on it. And we enjoy also these features in near future. Thanks.

[NVIDIA SHIELD] BT.2020 to BT.709, external PGS .sup, 23.976Hz

Dear Friends
I own MX Player Pro and NVIDIA SHIELD. At the moment I use Kodi.
1. I own Epson EH-TW5300, which is still BT.709 (I would like to change it to Epson EH-TW9400 in the near future with BT.2020). I own backups of my physical BD and UHD on HDD. I would like to know, if there will be working in MX Player Pro conversion from BT.2020 to BT.709 on NVIDIA SHIELD. Will colors not be washed out, when watching movie with BT.2020 on my projector with BT.709?
2. I have lots of backups of my physical BD and UHD on my HDD, I have extracted PGS .sup files. Will MX Player Pro support external
PGS .sup files?
3. BD or UHD movies use 23.976Hz. Will MX Player Pro support 23.976Hz? Will it auto change to this framerate?
Thank you in advance for your help and support.
Sincerely

Unfortunately, it is not possible to BT.2020 to BT.709 without any loss. BT.2020 is capable of handling a much wider range of colours than BT.709. So, obviously, there will be some losses. However, we will highlight your request with our relevant team and will explore for the possibilities of proving an improved user experience.

With regards to your query on external PSG files, You can already load the external PGS subs manually on the latest version of the MX Player. if you are facing any issues with that, kindly provide us with more information. We will investigate it further and get it sorted for you.

Yes. It can play movies encoded at 23.976fps seamlessly. But, the auto frame rate switching is not yet available on MX.

I realize that, there will be loss in conversion BT.2020 to BT.709, but there is application for PC called madVR, which is also doing such conversion from HDR to SDR and movies with HDR looks amazing on SDR capable display, no washed out colors at all. I would be glad, if you will add such feature to your MX Player Pro.
I have not installed yet MX Player Pro on NVIDIA SHIELD, I have just ask about such feature support. So you have a big +, because Kodi doesn't support external PGS .sup files.
It also would be good, if you will add auto framerate settings. It's hard to change display settings to 23.976Hz everytime I would like to watch such videos.
I forgot to ask about support of audio bitstream of Dolby TrueHD/Dolby Atmos, DTS-HD Master Audio/DTS:X? Is it possible with MX Player Pro?
Thank you in advance for your great support.
Sincerely

Thanks for the info. MadVR is a DirectShow filter and is not available for the Android platform. However, we will investigate further possible improvements on HDR -> SDR playback.

In general, there is no need to change the frame rate until or unless you face some issues. MX Player uses the VSYNC methods suggested on the android documentation. So, rendering should be seamless in most of the conditions.

Yes. MX Player supports the audio passthrough. It will be automatically enabled if the receiver reports it's audio capability properly.

In Kodi for NVIDIA SHIELD, there is Mediacodec and Mediacodec Surface, if both of them are disabled, then HDR to SDR is perfect, no washed out colors, but the movie playback of 2160p 23.976 BT.2020 10bit is choppy, not smooth. Maybe this will be a tip for your Team.

I will check it, but why it's such problem to add this feature to MX Player Pro, all other players for NVIDIA SHIELD has already such option?

Thank you very much, I have already tested Dolby Atmos.
As for your last statement with support of external PGS .sup files, there are some .sup files, that are not recognized. I have tested them with MPC-HC on PC and everything is OK with them, only MX Player Pro has got such problem. All of them are extracted the same way via MKVToolnix.
