selected network unavailable after 10.0.6 UPDATE - Xiaomi Redmi S2 Questions & Answers

After the last update (10.0.6.0.OEFMIFH) my LTE ONLY SIM stopped recognizing and registering to the network.
My another sim(2g/3g/4G LTE SIM) works fine.(on both slots)
Changing sim slots - didn't work.
Airplane mode on/off - didn't work.
Automatic registration - didn't work.
Manually registration get message "Couldn't search for mobile networks" (when both cards are active* in the slots)
I can see the network only when sim is in the ONE of the slots but - "sim selected network unavailable" or "your sim card does not allow connection to this network) when I try to register to the network
Setting to LTE Only and etc in the hidden menu - didn't work.
FACTORY RESET - also didn't make it.
Updated to 10.0.8 but again with no luck. the problem still persist.
The SIM work fine with my another phone - NOTE 5A
My network info - MNC - 28413 *1800 MHz LTE
ro.telephony.default_network=22, 20
Please, HELP!

HELP!! 3G Mobile Data not working. Somebody please help..

By default the Network Mode is on LTE/WCDMA/GSM (Auto) mode but when I switch on mobile data, nothing shows up, no data connection. And sometimes even no voice service, it shows "emergency calls only".
But when I switch to GSM only mode, EDGE connection shows up (which is normal), Internet goes normal but very slow with EDGE connection (Sometime GPRS).
I tried to swap SIM with my friend, and their SIM works fine with my phone under LTE/WCDMA/GSM (Auto) mode and I do get HSPA and HSPA+ Signal. (Network provider setting changed to their network provider)
I contact my network provider and they said my SIM has no problem, they did insert my SIM into their device and found no problem with my SIM on their device, they get HSPA+ signal with my SIM. And they ask me to take my phone to check for hardware failure.
I checked the APNs and network provider setting, reset back to Stock ROM and clean install my ROM several times, still have no luck
My subscription do have HSPA connection and has been using it for months at the same location, but now it just stay at EDGE and GPRS only.
Is that really a hardware problem? Or could it be SIM problem?
Device Info:
Device: Samsung Galaxy Ace 3 LTE (S7275R)
ROM: CM13-20160315build
Recovery: TWRP 3.0.0.0

Huawei Mate 9 only 2G possible?

Got the L29, so dual sim.
My first sim is for calling and sms, so I only need 2G but I can not set it to only 2G. Just the sim for mobile network (it's sim 2) can set to 2G, 2G/3G, 2G/3G/4G and only 4G.
The problem is 3G is really bad for sim 1 and this drain my battery for nothing, cuz I only need 2G for calling/sms.
I got a lot dual sim devices and this one is just strange in some things.
Regards
This is a problem for me, too
Dosen't work, I call already Huwei and they can not help me. Really bad :/
theres a setting in sim card management under mobile networks. it lets you pick which one gets data.
I can easily set 2G only for sim1 here, dont know what you did? Or your carrier doesnt support this, I mean if there is no 2G in your country, why could you change it to 2G?
Same problem on my mate 9 and my axon 7, seems to be an androidwide problem.

Naw, it works perfect with OnePlus 3, 3T, Mi5, Mi5s, Mi5s Plus and all other phones. Set Sim 2 to 2G/3G/4G and Sim 1 only on 2G. Here you can set Internet and this is it, the other sim go 2G/3G.
Gesendet von meinem MI MAX mit Tapatalk
In "settings/more/mobile networks" I can set the preferred network mode for each sim card. Had this when I used it as dual SIM for my work: sim 1 data mode on 2g, sim 2 on 4g. Works perfectly, even on 2 completely different providers.

I don't believe. When mobile data is default set to sim 1, just to sim 1 can be selected preffered network mode.
In my case: sim 2 -default mobile data- can be set to 2g only/auto 2g3g...evrything. Sim 1 switched automatically to 2g/3g/lte auto-can not be set preffered network mode.
If i switch default mobile data to sim 1, preffered network mode can be modified in sim 1, but not for sim 2, and sim 2 switched auto to 2g/3g/lte auto.
I want like this:
1. sim1 default data-3g/4g/lte
2. sim 2---2g only. But this is not possible because just in this case, sim 2 jump into 2g/3g auto.

Nope... Just the sim which is for mobile network. If I change sim 1 to mobile network, I can set to only 2G but the other one will be 2G/3G

Ah I see what you mean! Have been playing with 3 different dual SIM phones last year so got it mixed up. What I did with my Huawei mate 9 when I used dual SIM was: sim 1 set to auto 4g 3g 2g and on sim 2 I overruled the automatic provider search and just picked the 2g network from my provider. It then still mentioned 2g 3g in dual SIM settings but it didn't connect to 3g because I selected a 2g only network.
Is this how you want it?
on my ZTE it's really funny. the setting is available but disabled lol
Fixed By using Tasker [No Root]
I got this issue fixed by using Tasker so probably there might be an ADB command to set the network mode
My fix:
Make a new task -> Press + button -> Mobile Network Type -> Choose required network mode
Note: Will need to enable USB debugging and use the command `adb tcpip 5555` for getting the permissions. Also this might need to be done after ever phone reboot

Dual sim settings problem

Hi. I`ve got an MHA-L29 and I`ve got a problem with dual sim settings. In dual sim setting menu if I select default mobile data (4G services associated with default SIM) on SIM 1 then I lose the signal from that sim (Emergency calls only) and I`ve got SIM 2 signal. If I select default mobile data on SIM 2 I lose signal from that sim and I receive signal on SIM1. Basically, I can`t have both sim working (network signal) because I need to set 1 SIM on default mobile data and the one that I set it`s losing signal.
Maybe someone can help me. Thanks

This is strange behavior.
By default there is no problem. See my screenshot.
I suppose it is mobile operator's problem.
What is your full version (settings / about phone / build version) ?
What is your country and mobile carriers?
It`s not a mobile operator problem. I use the same sims on mate 8 and it`s fine. It`s exactly like in your screenshot, sim 1 default mobile data and I lose signal, and I have signal on sim 2. If I select sim 2 default mobile data I lose signal on sim 2 and receive signal on sim 1. So basically I can`t use dual sim and mobile data.
I`m in UK with BT and Lycamobile.
Build version was MHA-L29C432B198 but I`ve tried different things and now I`ve got nrd90m test-keys.

Agree, C432 region is for UK too. So your bug must not exist, but it is here.
Nrd90m test-keys means that metadata from oeminfo does not match with current ROM.
Did you try to rebrand? If yes, just flash ROM again what you flashed last time.
I`m trying now to rebrand, watching tutorial but I`m stuck at
After device enter TWRP, connect to USB cable.
Press ENTER key to continue...

Something blocked adb. Maybe HiSuite. Turn it off, then check that pc recognises device.
adb devices
You can issue to refresh adb
adb kill-server
Phone must be in twrp.
I`ve managed to do all the steps, but after restart I can`t get past the Huawei logo, phone enters in Huawei eRecovery where I have Download latest version and recovery (restore your system with wifi) reboot or shutdown. I`ve tried to restore the system with wifi but I can`t (getting package info failed). I don`t know what went wrong during the process but the phone it`s stuck at huawei erecovery.
So now I`ve managed somehow to update emui to 8.0 and android 8.0 and I have build number MHA-L29 8.0.0.321 (C432log), but the initial problem it`s still there.
I still can`t use mobile data or both sims in the same time. The sim selected to be default mobile data lose signal.
I`ve tried to use 1 sim and sdcard but I don`t have signal because the sim it`s set by default to be mobile data.
Anyone?

Seems to be hardware issue. Do you have warranty?
I don`t have warranty. Both sims slots work fine one at the time, not together.
I need 10 posts on the forum so I can upload a screenshot.

OK. Last thing - try to delete and recreate apn settings.
Don't think that they all incorrect, but maybe one of them...
The Mate9 is active/passive: it's impossible to make a call using sim 1 and using mobile data with sim2 but in stand by you can receive calls on both sim. This limitation is not present on mate8 and mate10.
Piergiorgio
I`ve tried other sims, put new apn and it`s the same.
pgmunzi I can`t because I don`t have signal on one of the sims. In dual sim settings, I need to set sim1 or sim2 to be default mobile data. With sim1 set on default mobile data, I`ve got signal on sim2 and no signal o sim1 (emergency call only), not even to receive. With sim2 set on default mobile data, I`ve got signal on sim1 and no signal on sim 2.

You can only have data on SIM1. Both sims can be used for calls and SMS (to my understanding). If you have two SIM cards from the same network it should not be a problem, overall. If you have two different networks (one on each SIM) then you might have some issues.
If you have the SIMS on the same network, and they use the same APN, you might want to copy the settings to two different APN's a label them for SIM1 and SIM2.
Also be careful of what version of OS you use. If you download a version that is originally branded for something else, then expect problems. There are also "Gotcha's" with firmware that is taken from one device and reconfigured to work on your device. Usually this is a matter of rebranding and copying underlying code over. This too causes issues with dual SIM phones. I have found this to be true with my MHA-L29C567. Sadly, I would love to have a memory card under the second sim slot along with a second SIM, but I have yet to figure that one out...

LinageOS 14.1 on Mi4i - Network issue with BSNL/Jio Dual SIM combination

Hi All.
I have installed LinageOS 14.1 on my Mi4i, with GApps 7.1 Mini.
ROM: lineage-14.1-20170315-UNOFFICIAL-ferrari.zip
GAPPS: open_gapps-arm64-7.1-mini-20180901.zip
I have installed Jio LTE SIM in slot 1 and CellOne (BSNL) SIM in Slot 2. Jio SIM works with Jio4G Voice App, as the phone doesn't support VOLTE.
But BSNL SIM giving terrible network issues - It doesn't dial out nor get the calls from others. Others get the message that the subscriber is out of coverage area.
I tried all permutation combination of SIMs - Slot 1 vs Slot 2, but of no luck. Once in a while, the BSNL works but next try it fails to dial.
If I remove Jio SIM, I get a bit steady network on BSNL.
following are settings for SIM 1 (Jio) and BSNL
SIM 1 Jio4G
Preferred for Data
Preferred Network - LTE
Network Operation - INDJio
SIM 2 BSNL
Preferred for Calls, SMS
Preferred Network - 3G
Network Operation - CellOne
I tried Phone Info using (*#*#4636).
The preferred network type was set to - GSM Only
Also tried the option for the preferred network type - LTE/UTMS auto (PRL)
Also, Select Radio Band was set to Automatic
Any help will be highly appreciated in fixing the network instability issue.
Regards,
Manoj.

try this it may work or not.
turn off phone and insert a 2nd sim in sim 2 slot.
now switch on and change internet sim to 2nd and then back to 1st because if we set sim 2 the apn settings will hide for sim 1 and if we select sim 1 the apn settings will hide for sim 2.
check in screenshot you can see i have internet selection to Jio so my Airtel sim apn settings are hidden till i select internet to Airtel
