Got the L29, so dual sim.
My first sim is for calling and sms, so I only need 2G but I can not set it to only 2G. Just the sim for mobile network (it's sim 2) can set to 2G, 2G/3G, 2G/3G/4G and only 4G.
The problem is 3G is really bad for sim 1 and this drain my battery for nothing, cuz I only need 2G for calling/sms.
I got a lot dual sim devices and this one is just strange in some things.

Dosen't work, I call already Huwei and they can not help me. Really bad :/
theres a setting in sim card management under mobile networks. it lets you pick which one gets data.
I can easily set 2G only for sim1 here, dont know what you did? Or your carrier doesnt support this, I mean if there is no 2G in your country, why could you change it to 2G?
Same problem on my mate 9 and my axon 7, seems to be an androidwide problem.

Naw, it works perfect with OnePlus 3, 3T, Mi5, Mi5s, Mi5s Plus and all other phones. Set Sim 2 to 2G/3G/4G and Sim 1 only on 2G. Here you can set Internet and this is it, the other sim go 2G/3G.

In "settings/more/mobile networks" I can set the preferred network mode for each sim card. Had this when I used it as dual SIM for my work: sim 1 data mode on 2g, sim 2 on 4g. Works perfectly, even on 2 completely different providers.

I don't believe. When mobile data is default set to sim 1, just to sim 1 can be selected preffered network mode.
In my case: sim 2 -default mobile data- can be set to 2g only/auto 2g3g...evrything. Sim 1 switched automatically to 2g/3g/lte auto-can not be set preffered network mode.
If i switch default mobile data to sim 1, preffered network mode can be modified in sim 1, but not for sim 2, and sim 2 switched auto to 2g/3g/lte auto.
I want like this:
1. sim1 default data-3g/4g/lte
2. sim 2---2g only. But this is not possible because just in this case, sim 2 jump into 2g/3g auto.

Nope... Just the sim which is for mobile network. If I change sim 1 to mobile network, I can set to only 2G but the other one will be 2G/3G

Ah I see what you mean! Have been playing with 3 different dual SIM phones last year so got it mixed up. What I did with my Huawei mate 9 when I used dual SIM was: sim 1 set to auto 4g 3g 2g and on sim 2 I overruled the automatic provider search and just picked the 2g network from my provider. It then still mentioned 2g 3g in dual SIM settings but it didn't connect to 3g because I selected a 2g only network.
Is this how you want it?
on my ZTE it's really funny. the setting is available but disabled lol
Fixed By using Tasker [No Root]
I got this issue fixed by using Tasker so probably there might be an ADB command to set the network mode
My fix:
Make a new task -> Press + button -> Mobile Network Type -> Choose required network mode
Note: Will need to enable USB debugging and use the command `adb tcpip 5555` for getting the permissions. Also this might need to be done after ever phone reboot

Hi, I have a dual sim Moto G. I have a 3g sim and a 2g sim card. I wish to use the 2g card for data and calls but the 3g sim for calls only. Now I put the 3g sim in slot 1 and the 2g sim in slot 2. Now when i choose data mode for the 2g sim it changes the data network type to 3g without me choosing that option. And it changes my 3g sim to 2g network only. I'v tried all sorts of ways but it still changes the sim network type on its own. Any ideas on what i'm doing wrong? Many thanks in advance, Ben. Click to collapse In a dual sim mobile phone 3g network can be operated from one sim only so what you can do is activate 3g on the 3g sim and disable internet on it and then the only choice for 2g sim would be to stay on 2g and then you enable internet on it. If it doesn't work try changing slots. If I helped please hit thanks!

What happens is when i select the enable data tick on the 2g sim the network type bar greys out and changes to 3g mode on its own. The only way i can change network mode is to de-select data mode and choose 2g again. Cheers, Ben.

Good evening I turn to you because I have a problem with my slot sim 2 I do not have a 4G. When I activate it I have no network. Roaming and any other settings sound activated. At least I hope so. Have you tried any other SIM?
You need to go into your mobile network setting and Dual Sim setting to make sure Sim 2 is active. Now if you want Sim 2 to use 4G you will have to select this in the Dual Sim setting. By default Sim 1 is the default mobile settings. At any one time 2 sim are in the device only one will use 4G or 3G the other will use 2G.

Individual sim preferred network type selection
Hello! I just bought my OnePlus 6 2 days ago. I've switched from a Xiaomi phone. One problem I am facing with this phone is I cannot individually select the preferred network type or each of my sims. My Sim-1 (the data sim) is running on 4G-LTE network and Sim-2 is running on 3G-UMTS. I'd like my Sim-2 to run on 2G-GSM ONLY network as it saves battery and GSM signal strength for this particular sim is better in my area. However, neither the Sim & network menu, nor the *#*#4636#*#* code menu lets me select the preferred network type for Sim-2. The code menu on my Xiaomi allowed me to set them individually. Is there any way the same can be done on OnePlus 6? Thanks in advance.
Just switch "Mobile data" to SIM-2 and change the preferred network type to 2G and then change "Mobile data" back to SIM-1, this will keep SIM2 in 2G mode

And dual 4g option was disabled by default. When I keep sim1 on 4g/3g/2g, I switch to sim2, change it to 2g only. Then switch back to sim1 it changed to 3g/2g. I leave it like that, and switch back to sim2, and it also is set to 3g/2g. I have the dual 4g option disabled. When I enabled the Dual 4G option, I was able to make sim1 4g/3g/2g preferred, change sim2 to 2g. Switch back to sim1 and it stayed with the 4g, switched to sim2 and it was still on 2g.

5.1.9 seems to have broken this. Whatever I have sim1 on, sim2 follows. Anytime find a work around to have 1 sim with 4g/3g/2g and the other 2g only?
How can I do that in OnePlus 5?

UPDATE: I think I've found a workaround. Manually select network operator for the second sim and select the 2G version of the network. Seems to be working for me. Dual SIM Data Toggle
So Im using dual sim p20 and Ive noticed that upon selecting one card to be the primary card for data connectio ln the network type on the second card automatically switches to 4g. I can change the network tyoe only on the primary card , the one being used for data connection (I can toggle between 2g, 3g, and 4g). But the other card is set to 4g and there ia no option to change this setting. On my wifes samsung you can for example set both cards to use 2g or 4g.. Is there any workaround for huawei devices? Thanks.
I just found a way to change it lol... Basically one must click on "dual sim 4g" under dual sim setup..after doing so I can go back to network settings and set both cards to use any network type I want.

Click to collapse The answer is coming a bit late, but for the protocol: Both SIM slots can use every network standard from 2G to 5G. You can even disable 2G and force 3G only.
