Update. See attached log. New message for launchers. Used Nova from AppGallery. Still not authorized.
So any clue what happens if you are running Nova and have no other launcher, since I removed Huawei's. Is it going to reset my device?
Is this for the Chinese version

I installed Nova launcher first and then remove Huawei launcher with ADB tools. I have been used Nova since last two updates. I have not gotten this update yet.
Even I've removed Huawei Home and Nova works perfectly with Fluid N.G., so gestures work everybody! I still installed NoLed for the absence of LED diode and 20X is almost perfect ... Now I'm downloading update 166 terribly slow, so I'm curious what will be improved ... ?
Dont have this update yet either, I am convinced the updates are in batches and going out on a limb, I think it might be tied to the imei, or Serial Number.

Do you have the option to Unlock the Bootloader on .175 ?
Hi does anyone know if there's a way to customize the icon layout in folders. The deal breaker for me to use stock launcher is the folder layout is not space efficient. Thanks in advance

Just received my mate 8 L29 64GB model last evening. Its a super good looking phone but have few questions.
- When I turned it on, it immediately went to home screen without going through any setup. . Is that normal?
- My model is NXT-L29 which I assumed was international but had the chinese language when I first powered on the phone. Is my phone a chinese version?
- My current firmware version is NXT-L29C636B103 and every time I check for update it says no update available. Do I just need to wait for Huawei to push the update? I am not sure how many updates are there after B103
- How do I check screen on time? There is no option to check screen on time in battery manager.
No L10 is Chinese version. B170 is what mine is on. It down loaded the update right after I turned it on the first time. I think you need wifi on for that. It shouldn't go straight to home screen. I would do a factory reset. Not sure about screen on time.

Thanks. I am on wifi and even tried checking the updates manually but no luck. I think I will just wait.
Since it went directly to home screen the first time it makes me think the device was switched on before

Do a Factory Reset. I once ordered A Mediapad X2 and the bootloader came unlocked already which made me believe it was used before. The phone was fine though. Always factory reset any time you buy a new phone.
Another issue I have noticed is if I change the wallpaper it only displays on half the screen. How do I fix that?

There is an app in the market called "Wallpaper Wizardrii" (spelled with "ii" on purpose). The interface is clunky and not intuitive, but you will be able to get a wallpaper that fits any way you wish. I'm sure there are other apps that might do the same but have a better UI/UX (If so, please share).
Hope that helps.

Sorry, I can't help much. Depending on what variant of L29 you purchased will depend on what update you receive. What does it say on the back of the phone?

there is a thread in q&a section about updating from b103. A download link for the update file you could find there, too. How to manually update is described in Q&A section.

Yes via phone software update (OTA), also in menu "download the latest package" is possible.
Via FF it's available too.

Hard to say after one day, but it seems to me just about the same as before on B100.
Also looks a bit more responsive, although it may be because of the wiped out cache.
I've downloaded the L09-C432B130 via FF. I have extracted the update.zip into the dload folder. Which steps are to do next?
Anybody got some free time and could make a flashable .zip for TWRP? Would be very appreciated!

From EMUI 5 onwards, you can't install yourself. Hu/ho checks IMEI before installing. FF via DNS or proxy may or may not work.
Hello
Im searching for a solution to install Google on a devie with EMUI 10.1.1.146
I have a P40 Lite 5G and i was trying some Videos from YT but every time se thame problem.
LZ Play doesn't work wih this EMUI.
I think that is a Global problem with this new EMUI.
Have anybody an idea ????
Thx
Just bought a P40 lite 5g myself on ebay and I'm having the same problem. Like an idiot I updated EMUI when i first started the phone, and now I can't roll it back or install google services as LZ Play won't work. Really nice phone, I think I will just sell it though and get a Xiaomi Pocophone F2 instead. Too much of a headache messing about for days with these youtube video instructions that don't work.
Hi.
wait some time i think it will be a New method.
All other phones will get the Update an will have se same solution.
That's while i think there will be a new solution.
The Phone is realy nice.
I think to have Google on a Huawei Smartphone is interest of Google <=> Huawei
Huawei want to sell phones
Google want to earn money with apps
you can try this
And soon I will release this tool
hello.
I have tried it with the date but it doesn't work.
got the same mesage.
Your Tool in the Video looks amazing.
i hope it will Do a good work.
did You test it on a device with the newest emui like my Phone?
thx
Do you have some screenshot of the error? Just to check what's happening
Sent from my Pixel 4 using Tapatalk
That's the error
OK, try this
make sure you have:
-no sim card inserted
-language is set to english
-factory reset (because I see you have previously ran a manual installation and services and other components are installed as normal apps) - or delte them manually
-connect to wifi
-restore the "chinese app" using hisuite
put DATE back to 20.06.2020 and disable automatic time
run the "chinese app" and try again
I'll retry with the procedure because I need to FR anyway for the development, can't remember if that was the message I got (your device is not supported when translated)
What Backup to use from Match oder April?
thx
Use the one from this video
this restore should give you a valid lzplay with data
So i have done all
Frist Tab ... error message
changing date
second Tab...error message
The error mesage says that the device is not compatible (trabslate with Google from Chinese)
I think that the Main Problem ist the EMUI 10.1.1

I think the Problem might be:

or
2. Unsupported Device

No, this will not fix your phone sadly, it relies on LZplay as all of them, LZplay was that "backdoor" that allowed it. You can try to find some downgrade rom or tutorial (maybe this one I linked, can't be for sure since I have the older emui)

For the first.
Thank You for Your Support.
With the HiSuite i can't go back toa a previous Version of the EMUI.
So i understand that in the moment i'ts difficult to find a solution.
Today i will try it a few Times with the solution you told me yesterday.
After some tries today still the same.
It doesn't work ?
Yeah, sadly you can't do anything there, unless there is a firmware (older one). One could try downloading adb, running "adb logcat -f /sdcard/log.txt" , running lzplay and after the error pops up press Ctrl-c in command prompt. Maybe the log will tell more

If you disable HardwareStub, also be aware that any of the peripherals (cooler, controller, etc) may not get firmware updates.
The notification sounded like you had a mix of firmware, such as installing a WW update while still using a CN baseband.

Back up your data, then flash a full raw firmware. After that is done, make sure you are only installing updates from the same series (ie. WW or CN)

I'm not sure what causes the notification, since I also have a Tencent device on the WW firmware. I do know that one of the newer firmwares does prompt to update the Aerocooler firmware, though. If you get one, make sure to at least temporarily enable the notification for the update.
So I got intrigued about what my build.prop values are so I opened it, and noticed that some properties about build and model are still set to their chinese values.
What's your build.prop values? Do I need to change these values to remove the notification without disabling HardwareStubServices?

Someone got lazy and never finished the conversion. Every CN has to be changed to WW. Once it's done once, it will automatically retain it through future updates.
Oh sorry, I forgot to mention that is the /vendor/build.prop file. /system/build.prop file is OK.
Should I change the values on /vendor/?

A lot of those are backups. If you change any, only the main build.prop and not any of the build_xx ones
A few months back I bought a "new" p20 as a replacement for my crumbling p10.
The p10 is running EMUI 9.1 for years, yet the p20 running on EMUI 8.1 is saying "no updates" in system settings. HiCare app also didn't reveal any updates and now that I checked again HICare app doesn't even show an option for "Updates" (it used to be under Quick Services) – I called the support and they said "it looks like your processor isn't suited for EMUI 9" – Is that even possible?
There must be a way to download any EMUI 9.1 version for p20 and flash it manually, right?
Really appreciate help to get frikkin 9.1

Hi guys,
Just didn't want to open a new thread for this question.
Firend of mine asked me could I do a "refresh" on his phone, as he like to keep the phone, but the EMUI sometimes crashing apps and such.
What's the best way to manually "erase & reinstall" EMUI?
TIA
