Yes via phone software update (OTA), also in menu "download the latest package" is possible.
Via FF it's available too.

Update via FF, thanks, the touch screen works better, swipe gesture action with swiftkey are now ok.
Will this by any means helps to unbrick my device ? Mine is on bootloop for a week now ?

Hard to say after one day, but it seems to me just about the same as before on B100.
Also looks a bit more responsive, although it may be because of the wiped out cache.
I've downloaded the L09-C432B130 via FF. I have extracted the update.zip into the dload folder. Which steps are to do next?
Anybody got some free time and could make a flashable .zip for TWRP? Would be very appreciated!

From EMUI 5 onwards, you can't install yourself. Hu/ho checks IMEI before installing. FF via DNS or proxy may or may not work.

It's in test version, but if you want maybe try:
Open firmware finder on pc ,start firmware update and copy the link for the firmware you want to flash, the link should be like http:..../..../f1/
And click start the server.
On your phone connect to the same wifi as ur pc,go to wifi settings, click and hold on the connected network, you will see advance settings, fill ip same as the ip of ur pc and port same as the one in firmware finder.
Once done go to update in phone settings and check for updates, you should see a new firmware update.

So the correct procedure would be to unroot, relock bootloader, flash B136 with dload method, then update to Nougat? Or can I skip manually relocking bootloader, as it should be done by flashing stock rom and recovery?

You could try the following. Download both files and copy it to: internal Storage\HwOUC\71496. This is the location where the EMUI Updater App stores the files. Maybe it's possible to start the upgrade when both files are in the correct location. Haven't tried it myself, so proceed at your own risk.

Don't go to settings/update but go to hicare app, it's works for me
Hi all
My honor 8 just arrived yesterday,
Turned it on and it prompted me for a software update and it went in to a boot-loop.
Not sure what fw it was on before the update, also unsure what version it was upgrading to.
Later found out trough fastboot that it is (FRD-L19C636B386).
Tried to factory reset (no luck)
Tried eRecovery method, keeps showing (Getting package info failed)
Tried the 3 finger method with FRD-L19C636B380, keeps showing (Software install failed Get help from http://www.emui.com/emotiondownload.php?mod=restore)
Tried to flash trough fastboot, unfortunately it can't be done without unlocking the bootloader.
Wanted to unlock the bootloader but seems like it requires the phone to be able to boot to OS before I can get the unlock code.
Anyone having the same issue or have other alternatives/solutons for me to try?
Cheers!
Try rollback package

I just checked the fastboot mode it says:
Phone Locked
FRP Lock
1. what to do to unlock bootloader?
2. Whats happening now is, the "Honor" logo boots twice then goes to Huawei eRecovery. Under eRecovery it has option "Download latest version and recovery" > "Download and recovery" > "Starting WIFI failed". Actually I can connect to wifi earlier and this what happens to the eRecovery "Getting package info failed". But now it CANT connect to the wifi.
3. I tried the firmware rollback but it didnt help

I think PV filenames is for twrp. I just read that updating to b380 you need to rollback to b120 which is marshmallow then jump to b380. As long as i can return it to my stock b360 Im fine with it. It may be because you flashed it manually. And unless we have rollback package for your model you may not be able to rollback to MM. Are you planning to install custom ROM or want to be on stock rom only.
Updater is not there means tou wont get OTA bit test build wont impact anything.
You may need to flash the oeminfo of your model as well.

I would advise to wait for official OTA (as you got the phone yesterday) but if you really want to do it-
Download this- http://update.hicloud.com:8180/TDS/data/files/p3/s15/G1279/g104/v82620/f2/full/update.zip
and this http://update.hicloud.com:8180/TDS/...cseas/update_data_full_BLL-L22_hw_spcseas.zip
Flash first file and boot to system. Then 2nd and boot.
You need to use dload method as below
Unzip 1st file and extract the package. You will get few files including update.app.
Few suggest to use only update.app file but I would advise, based on my personal experience for all dload method I tried, use all the files.
Create a folder dload under SD card and copy all the files to this folder.
Power off the phone. Remove USB cable, if connected.
Press volume up+volume down keys and simultaneously press power button (3 keys together)
Your phone will automatically detect the package and will start the update process.
Once the update process is successful, you will get a message as update was successful and your phone will restart automatically.
During restart, phone will verify the system image.
This verification and 1st boot may take upto 2-3 minutes so do not panic.
Repeat the same with 2nd zip file.
Good luck. Happy Flashing.

Repeat the same with 2nd zip file.
Good luck. Happy Flashing.

Thank you very much for the detailed instructions and links.
I think I will take your advice and wait for OTA update.
As mentioned, I am not too 'tech' and am worried might do the wrong thing.
Is it normal for my build # not to have nougat update yet?....
I will bookmark this post and report back in a week. Hopefully I will have an update by then.
Thank you again shashank1320

You welcome. Welcome to XDA and tech stuff.
Yes it is normal. Update may pop up anytime. Have you inserted the SIM yet? If not, putting the SIM may help. Also it may take upto a week for your phone to register and get update.
Regards,
Shashank

Thank you for your Welcome Shashank I hope to learn alot from the XDA Forum and you, since this is my 1st Android phone o).
I had not inserted the SIM before, since I'm still learning how the phone works and was playing around with the GR 5 17 without the SIM.
I have inserted the SIM and just like you said; I got an update from the Settings menu.
I am downloading update : BLL-L22C636B360 as we speak.
I am worried since I read on this thread that it might have some problems....
I will post an update once completed.
I am excited to learn more about Android from the XDA Forum, and how I can keep my GR 5 17 in the best condition.
Thank you again for your support Shashank. Stay Well

I have downloaded the B360 update. As you mentioned, I have received another update and am now on : Build number ~: BLL-L22C636B384 , EMUI : 5.0.1, Android : 7.0
Things seem to be working fine for now.
I wanted to ask you about any good Dark theme for the GR5-17.
Do you suggest from the Huawei themes (built in) or from :EMUI theme factory? (an app I dl from PlayStore.
Thank you, Stay Well

As far as i know rooted phones will not get OTA. You have to manually flash update.zip and root again, because rooting needs bootloader unlock and will not recognise the device in update server. I guess you have to wait for manual update zip...?

I shared B151 update to Firmware Finder using "share firmware" option.
Now you can directly install and update from there.

Thank you. Will check in FF app. Btw, how come the update is about 1gb in size with such a small change log? If you have already updated, do you have any ideas if they have some under the hood changes which they have not mentioned? Just curious.

Nope
Fail to install
My update!! they are very good at providing region specific update I guess!!!
I give up.. terrible update or security support
Good thing Samsung are much better
I just rebranded my honor into a Samsung
Never rooted.. Never unlocked.. Stock recovery
Poor support
0 updates
You will get OTA on rooted phone but it wont install. Even just replacing the recovery wont help as your stock boot is modified while root. you need to flash the stock boot as well before you will be able to update via OTA.
Stock phone
Never rooted
Never changed recovery
Never unlocked bootloader
Ota is broke or non-existent
Support sucks.
Great phone if you never want updates
Bug fixes or new features.
These are as is throw away phones.
