I have a completely standard Galaxy S8, not rooted and running stock firmware. I went into google accounts, synced and backed everything up yesterday. I saw the "uploading to google" in the notification bar and let it complete.
This morning I got the screen replaced under warranty and when I went to restore my phone, it said no backup linked to this google account. When I go into drive, there is no backup there.
I'm guessing my backup is lost and I'll need to redo everything manually now. Now if memory serves, this is not the first time I've had my phone say the backup was finished and then for it to disappear. Does anyone know why this is happening? Is it Samsung playing dirty and trying to force you to use their cloud backup services?

I'm running Radioactive Froyo on a Samsung Moment. I installed and set up a whole bunch of apps before I realized I was using the wrong Google account. I need to change the primary account. The phone says I can only do this by resetting to factory defaults.
I backed up everything with Titanium, restored to factory defaults, configured with the correct account, and then restored all the apps via Titanium, but it seems like something's messed up -- the Market hangs on "Starting download..."
Is there a way to either change the account associated with the Market so it doesn't hang, or to reset the phone and reinstall those apps but not with the wrong account?
They are all free apps -- my concern is the time investment in downloading and customizing all of them.
Thanks!
Nexus 5, rooted stock 5.1.1, xposed.
For privacy reasons I do not sync with Google and use a firewall.
Problem:
Every couple of weeks, the calendar I use suddenly goes blank. The problem is always that "Calendar Storage" has lost its data. If I use Titanium Backup to restore the most recent backup of Calendar Storage, I get my calendar data back. But because of the way tibu works that is sometimes 3 days old.
How can I figure out what is erasing the data in Calendar Storage and fix the problem?
Thank you.
I really need help here. Calendar storage now blanks out all data every few hours!
I would like to reinstall the calendar storage app for lollipop 5.1.1 because it is obviously corrupted somehow. Is there a repository somewhere I can re-download it from and reinstall it? The calendar has become useless. Every time I restore the data from tibu, a couple of hours later everything is blank again.
Please help!
It is gotten so bad that if I keep the calendar app open I can see the data disappearing as I watch. There is something very wrong. It only affects the calendar. All other apps work fine.
I restored a nandroid from a month ago before all this happened but that didn't help.
Please help.
I have a Galaxy S7 Exynos with SuperMan Rom 1.19 installed. Everything is working fine but for the past few weeks I can't seem to backup or restore my phone to Samsung Cloud.
I reached out to Samsung support and they first asked me to clear cache on the app and try again but after that failed they emailed me the following:
From what you wrote, I understand that you are trying to properly backup/restore the content from Samsung Cloud.
Please know that it appears that the matter in question has been caused by some internal server issues, which have been solved with an update for Samsung Cloud.
Thus, you should receive an "Urgent Update" notification for Samsung Cloud everyday until you update the service, which will ensure the proper functionality of the service once the procedure is complete.
Please know that this notification is received only once a day, and you have to update the service through the notification itself. Also, this notification will not be received in case they are turned off for Samsung Cloud from the Settings of
your device > Notifications > Samsung Cloud, so make sure it is turned on.
Once updated, both the backup and restore functions will be solved.

Problem is that I haven't received any notifications and there is no Samsung Cloud app, since it is built in to the system. Any ideas?
No one else has this problem?
Same problem. Samsung cloud is under system apps. It has notifications turned in but still no update
So I saw that my version was 2.1.8 and I found online in an apk store that the latest version was 2.2.12. I took the plunge and installed it.
It works. Here's hoping that next version of Superman Rom will have the latest update so that it will work out of the box.
Why would the cloud that I don't even use, download 644 pictures of people I don't know onto my phone and then even put them and my own pictures into albums and label them? Can someone help with this?
Hello,
something bad and very strange happened: My OP6 just wiped itself. My last actions on the phone were:
Used Google Keep to prepare my trip to the supermarket
Turned on some music
Noticed that V4A was not active (happens sometimes) so I rebooted
Turned on music again, V4A activated
I arrived at the store and wanted to switch to Keep but noticed that my app switcher is not working (it said no recent apps)
I thought 'strange bug but whatever let's open Keep via the normal launcher icon'
and then BAAM it asked for my google account, and the app crashed
Since I have a very bad memory and relied on my created list, I rebooted my phone once again and suddenly (almost) everything was reset... my launcher, Whatsapp, PowerAmp, Youtube Music basically everything but my system settings and system apps (including Magisk Modules). WTF?!?!
I quickly checked my SD card via a file explorer... all my movies, downloads, mp3 music, Titanium Backups erased :crying:
Now, instead of enjoying my Friday evening, I am sitting here and trying to restore my phone, music and so on.
Luckily, I mostly use cloud backups except for my movies and music (and my most recent Titanium Backups..)
Has anything like that ever happened to you?
By the way, I have another user on this phone and apparently this account wasn't wiped.. very strange...
I use and root my phones since the Galaxy S1 and anything like this has never happened before... I regret that I don't have an external SD card now

Unfortunately you seem to be rooted/custom rommed. Post for the dev to see I guess but seems like a perfect storm screwed you up
Yeah I use the stock rom with root but without TWRP https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-6/how-to/oneplus-6-magisk-root-oos-5-1-5-t3794440
I will try to contact the dev, but it could have been any app with root rights so it will be even harder to determine the cause.
same thing happened to me stock 5.1.9, my storage just had about 20 directorys with random numbers and letters.
all gone, got into a boot loop and had to use the unbrick tool!
Do you have fsync disabled? this can corrupt your data..
Mine did something like this a couple of days ago - was working fine and when I turned on the screen it asked which launcher I want to use. All installed apps were gone and acted like a new phone (no text messages, phone history was blank, no contacts).
After a reboot it went back to normal....
I'm running 5.19 rooted with custom recover and stock kernel.

Wot mate?
Don't know what happened, but the A13 update basically borked my phone. Dialer, messages, fingerprint reader, screen handling, notifications, Android Auto, etc ALL no longer work correctly. I never know how exactly the phone will behave on any given interaction. Its a mess. It was working perfectly fine on A12
So, I have to do some kind of a reset. I NEED my messages and call logs to be correct on restore (use it for lots of business stuff), everything else, whatever is backed up will be ok.
I tried doing a migration from the A13 6A to a factory reset Moto Edge 21 with A12 on it, and the A13 Pixel refuses to cooperate. Android migration usually works pretty well, but in this case, the 6A A13 refused to see the Moto A12, and gave me some super weird Android File Manager error message. I planned on using the Moto Edge as a data mule, reset the 6A, then migrate everything back.
So, I need to do a backup, reset and restore and am dubious of Google One actually working. Open to suggestions or actual experiences of how to do this with minimal disruption. Most of the internet "guides" on resetting are useless, and don't address how not to lose and/or destroy your data (text/messages, call logs, etc, incl MMS)
The only thing I can think of is using Wondershare Mobiletrans for backup and restore and cross my fingers that it'll actually work.
I use Swift Backup to backup and restore now. I would give that a try.
I use swift as well...but u have to have a backup app already in place BEFORE getting borked...lol There's limited options for going back to 12. As mentioned in the big PSA warning thread at the top...if u try to do a common rollback, google's ARB (anti-rollback) if triggered, WILL HARD=BRICK your phone! Then u have to send it back to google for a factory reset meaning ofc loss of all data. So plz use caution and no matter how u chose to proceed...Swift Backup is a gem! A one-time purchase ano NO monthly fees! Best regards...
Try updating again, I got two Android 13 updates on mine, the first one broke the fingerprint reader, then I hit update again, and it downloaded another update that subsequently fixed it.
If you just want to backup messages and phone calls, I use this:
SMS Backup & Restore - Apps on Google Play
A simple app that backs up and restores SMS & MMS messages and call logs.
play.google.com
Can back up to cloud as well as your device.
Otherwise I've had no issues with the Google backup in Settings.
