I'm running Radioactive Froyo on a Samsung Moment. I installed and set up a whole bunch of apps before I realized I was using the wrong Google account. I need to change the primary account. The phone says I can only do this by resetting to factory defaults.
I backed up everything with Titanium, restored to factory defaults, configured with the correct account, and then restored all the apps via Titanium, but it seems like something's messed up -- the Market hangs on "Starting download..."
Is there a way to either change the account associated with the Market so it doesn't hang, or to reset the phone and reinstall those apps but not with the wrong account?
They are all free apps -- my concern is the time investment in downloading and customizing all of them.

So my understanding of the Backup settings is that your settings, like ringtones and applications will be loaded onto googles server so they can be restored if you do a factory reset.
I just flashed the beta 2 Cyanogen ROM but none of my applications are coming back to me. I had the backup selected before, so i dont know if i just need to be patient or what. its been like half an hour, i expected to see at least something by now.
Can anyone give me more information about this feature? I haven't been able to find much.

If you replace your phone, the settings you've backed up are restored onto the new phone the first time you sign in with your Google Account. If you check this option, a wide variety of settings are backed up, including your Wi-Fi passwords, bookmarks, a list of the applications you've installed, the words you've added to the dictionary used by the onscreen keyboard, and most of the settings that you configure with the Settings application. If you uncheck this option, you stop backing up your settings, and any existing backups are deleted from Google servers.
I've had the backup settings checked and it worked perfectly for me. It reinstalled about 30 apps right after signing into google after flashing.
My only problem with it is that after it reinstalls everything I have no access to root. All my apps that require root hang at the SU request page and I never get the buttons to allow access.
Anyone else experience this? I haven't tried it with the new CM rom but it happened with enom's add on.

I think flashing a custom ROM changes the identifier or signature of your phone, so you won't get that backed up information synching back with your phone.
Been trying to get the android app chrome to phone to work on my phone. it says the it does not support google apps accounts, unless they have been transitioned over to the new system. My account has been transitioned. But chrome to phone still says it's an app account.
I tried removing chrome to phone and reinstalling it - no effect.
As i test i decided to do a full factory wipe and then add my account back to the phone and install chrome to phone, and it worked! So i'm wondering if when i added my account previously (before it was transitioned) if something on the phone is still flagging it as an app account? i tried to remove the account so i could add it back in, but it wont let me saying certain apps use the account (would be nice if it said which apps) and instead says i need to a factory wipe.
I really don't wont to do a full wipe of the phone just to install this one app.
Anyone have any ideas on how to resolve this without a full wipe?
I setup my new TF and was bewildered for a moment when I see extra apps installed. Turns out it was the market restoring all the apps I had loaded on my Nook onto the TF. I uninstalled all the apps and then did a factory reset.
They just got restored all over again.
I can not uninstall them from the Nook since I have already restored it back to stock in preparation of handing it off to the wife.
So how the heck do I clean up my installed list of apps from the android market? They were all free apps but I want to start with a clean slate not with Nook apps and my Touch Pro2 apps.

Maybe in Settings>Accounts&Sync? Try unchecking Auto-sync. However, I've never tried it. In my case, the free apps never automatically sync
when you do a reset on the screen after you put your google user name and password in untick the thing that says "back up my account with google" or something similar to that.
This stop google restoring your apps
You can turn it back on later in settings to back up your new settings/apps

Thanks everyone for your replies. I ended up uninstalling them, turning off auto sync, (this forces it to delete all data on the Google server!) and then I waited 30 minutes before doing a hard reset.
All trash gone! yay!

Settings>>Privacy>>uncheck "automatic restore". If your doing this on a fresh setup then skip the Google login at first, unchecked this setting then open up market and login to your Google account.

I hit the button and nothing.... just stays in the email. tried clearing the cache and data. uninstalled gmail and reinstalled.... and loaded a new rom version (senseless extreme... but this is something that suddenly started..... was working fine for a few weeks)
Any ideas?? sending from the computer works fine, as well as saving the draft on the phone, and receiving, and all that fun stuff.
have you tried removing the account and re-adding it?
I remember somewhere else someone suggested what you have already cleared and account data.
It worked once for me with Desire HD but I suspect its all the when it comes to software
i would assume that loading the new rom and in turn signing into my account again would be about the same thing... going to try a clean load today and see if i can narrow it down
Has anyone figured this out yet? I have been having the same problem for months. The only way I have found to fix it is to reload the ROM (or load a new one).
I have cleared data, cache etc. I have disable and re-enabled syncing. I have uninstalled and re-installed the Gmail app from the market and nothing. I rely on Gmail for work so I really need this app to work. I hate having to flash my phone each time this crops up...
Have you cleared defaults? That's what got mine going again after titanium backup didn't restore everything correctly.
Just curious...? After you flash these ROMs, are you using Titanium Backup to restore any system or account data? This I know can cause multiple issues and GMail is very dependent on Accounts.
The "I can't send anything in GMail, but I can still receive messages." issue happened to me twice with my Sensation and I was able to resolve it both times by just clearing data from the application in: Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > GMail. I know you mentioned doing this and it not helping, but I just wanted to be clear on my experience with such a problem.
How to remove the applications you begin to install after each hard reset using Google backup&restore?
I'm not talking about the Contacts or Gmail being pulled in (that's fine),I just don't want the apps & settings
I've tried the various resets (with backup turned off), but nothing gets me back to a blank, clean phone.
Is there a way to remove?

Oddly enough, this never works for me anymore. Contacts and whatnot come back, but applications never self reinstall since about six months ago. I always assumed since I have to agree to the terms and conditions of the market, it won't start running until I've done so. No real idea though, if anything, don't add your Google info in the initial setup. Set up your settings and whatever else you need to do, then add your Google account info in Settings > Accounts. From there, if it starts to redownload everything, just cancel them before they have a chance to finish. You could also try force closing the market. I did that once when it started to download my apps, it got one app through and quit the rest.
I've checked the online market, there's no settings in there. Hope you figure it out.
When you add the Google account, at the very end, there is this option "Keep this phone backed up with my google account". Unselect that option.
Untick "Automatic restore"
