I dont exactly know where to put this but general seems fine.
On 5/08 I switched from big red to tmo. Wanted to have
My own plan, I have a thin credit file since I stay away
From credit cards and was forced to pay $300 plus 40 in tax
To receive my device from tmo. Instead of 149 like everyone else
On 5/09 I received the phone....damaged. the battery door
Of the note 2 was busted and the packaging was horrid.
I called right away only to be told I needed to give them
340 Again then send this one and get refunded.
Since I wasnt excepting the high down I had no money left
On 5/13 I finally had enough from bi weekly paycheck to
Process the note 2 for replacement eip. Since I had
Issues handling the phone I decided to use remorse and
Get an S4.
5/16 comes by and I dont receive my s4 I call and they say
It will be on its way. Sales however says my card declined
And it is cancelled. Two stories...
5/17 comes by and after 6 hours on support I finally get
A replacement EIP setup again. My card gets charged
And I was told new batches ship 20th.
5/19 the order processes and shows on my account! Sigh of relief
5/19 order switches to cancelled
5/21 order reflects cancelled twice.
After another 4 hours they setup a memo for device exchange
At a local store and to double my down so new s4 is paid off
Courtesy of them.
I go to a local store and learn only corporate locations can do
What I need. After calling them three times to ask if that store
Was not a dealer and told it wasn't even though I explained my situation
I was told different thing once I was there.
Will be heading to a corp store right before work soon.
If tmobile fails to redeem themselves its back to big red.
Theres no reason a damaged device exchange should be this difficult
If you want to go magenta Use a store not online even if its convenient
Or you will get stuck in this nonsense.
So my brother in law is trying to buy 2 Google pixels from the store. He first tried last night after signing up for Google finance. He was approved but was getting a message that the card was declined when trying to put the order though. He wasn't sure what was going on so he tried a few more times with no luck. This morning he called synchrony and it appears the reason was because his credit limit was too low so he had it increase and though he was in the clear to order again. But when he went to select the pixel it was grayed out and it said under it that limit reached. Has anybody experience this? Under his order history shows 5 cancelled orders. It appears there is a 10 device limit for purchases of same device. Google just tells him give it 24-48 hours and try ordering again. Has anybody gotten this message and truly know how long before it is removed and the device can be purchased again? Thanks
Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
Synchrony and Google need to get their stuff together when it comes to the financing aspect of the Google Store. I purchased my first Pixel through the Google Fi page as I wanted to try out the service, that whole experience went super smoothly and even though the phone was a pre-order at that point I got it earlier than they told me. Got the phone loved it but wasn't all that impressed with the Google Fi pricing model after my wife had the phone for a week and I saw what data was actually going to cost me. So I switched over to T-Mobile, paid off the remainder of the Pixel because Google Fi financing only works if you're on the Google Fi plan and called it a day. Then I decided I was going to get two more Pixels and activate them on T-Mobile, which of course doesn't sell the Pixel, so I ordered them through the Google Store. I chose the 24 month financing, and everything seemed fine, although they were backordered, and I was given a shipping date in the not too distant future. Fast forward and I get an email in the middle of the night from Google telling me there is a problem with the order and I need to contact them. So the next morning I call and they tell me the email was a glitch in their system and several people have been calling them even though nothing is wrong with any of their orders. Satisfied I wait patiently for the two Pixels to ship, only to get another email overnight within a week of when they were supposed to ship. This time they tell me my order has been cancelled. I was shocked as I didn't cancel my order so I called in the morning to find out what had happened. Google tells me there is a problem with my Synchrony account that caused my order to be cancelled. When I asked why I wasn't contacted before they cancelled the order they couldn't come up with any kind of answer, but instead kept telling me I would have to contact Synchrony to resolve the issue. They then transferred me to Synchrony who of course tells me they can't see any problem with my account and are unsure why my order was cancelled. So I spent the morning going back and forth between the two and my issue was 'escalated' by Google and I was told to wait for them to email me. Fast forward 24 hours and I'm done with their games and call Synchrony again and make them look very carefully at my account and suddenly, oh yes we need you to verify your address, which I do and they assure me the account is in good standing. At this point I assume Google will just tell me I'm screwed and to re-order putting myself even further behind in the queue for a backordered Pixel. So I go back online and just order two more Pixels. Amazingly for this order the ship date was the same as my now cancelled order and they ended up shipping a day sooner than that. And the ultimate bit of irony was days after I place the new order I get an email from Google apologizing and telling me there was nothing they could do to reinstate my original order, I would have to place a new order. So in the end it all worked out and I didn't end up waiting any longer than I originally thought I would but the whole Synchrony/Google Store finance system is a mess. If you have a problem they'll just point fingers at each other until you get mad and start yelling at people, 'escalate' your issue and most likely in the end do little to help you.
Hi all
Anyone pre-ordered from CW yet?
what did you get and when do you think it will be shipped
Cannot remember if last year they were OK or not at shipping them ahead of others
Also are there some freebies with these orders?
I tried to pre-order....THREE times. First time, 2 hours later got an email back saying they could not proceed and had cancelled the order (no epxlanation). Second time got an email back an hour later saying they had cancelled it again, due to an "information mismatch". Rang them up to find out what the hell they were playing at, got through to sales who couldnt tell me why they had cancelled it so they passed me on to the "web team", who couldnt tell me anything at all, and passed me on to customer services.....who cut me off. I tried one final time to order it, this time got a reply an hour later again saying that it had been cancelled again, due to me failing a credit check, and telling me to check with the network I had selected......I had not selected any network since I was buying the handset only, there was no requirement for any kind of credit check, and if they HAD done a credit check then it would have come back as perfect. At this point I went to John Lewis website instead and ordered it fine first time. I will lose the crappy £99 speaker that was gonna go straight on ebay anyway, but it'll be worth it not to have to deal with the CPW muppets ever again.
I wasn't sure who to go with as I wanted to make sure delivery was on 20th since I will be at home that day and I figured CPW would have the most stock plus the free speaker. But then they will probably also have the most orders. John Lewis isn't a place people would normally think of buying a mobile from (I was surprised to even see it listed!) so I'm hoping they have enough stock and reliable enough delivery to get it to me on time. My order confirmation shows the delivery date, the CPW confirmation only said "current" delivery date which didn't sound very definite to me!
Ordered instore at CPW inside Curry's Bolton today. Black S8 (SimFree). Took 10 mins, collect from store on the 20th & get a free Samsung speaker
Same. Ordered instore in Market Harborough CPW for delivery to store on 20th. The free Samsung speaker looks rather nice and is waterproof to match the phone. I'll be using that in my bathroom. They had both S8 models to play with - full working units, not dummies. Very nice indeed! Went for the S8 - it's plenty big enough!

Scary how much smaller it is than my 6P and how little bezel there is! Still almost went for the plus tho...
Ordered mine on Launch 10 mins after the Live Announcement ended from CPW in Currys in York. Got a Black S8 + Free Wireless Speaker and a free £50 Currys/PCWorld Gift Card to use within 6 months. Delivery to store on 20th April.

Indeed. I was amazed at how the plus just doesn't look huge as I imagined it would. I wasn't actually intending to order - I bought a Google Pixel a week ago but was very disappointed as the lens flare I got in several photos over the weekend. CPW accepted the return and I paid the extra for the S8. Now having to use my old Nexus 5 for a couple of weeks.

Good to know the returns policy works. Just hope rooting is possible and the custom rom scene is good enough on the S8. (had Nexus devices since the GNex & really going to miss crack flashing).....
I had a Galaxy S7 before the Pixel. I didn't do any custom roms or anything, but did flash firmware on a couple of occasions. TouchWiz (or whatever they call it now) is not an issue any more - I put Nova Launcher on it and to me it looks just like stock Android. The photos I took on the S7 pleased me more than those I took on the Pixel, so I have high hopes for the tweaked camera algorithms on the S8.

It's actually not the same sensor either ,it's the same specs but a new one that no other phone uses. I'm sure it will be better in many scenarios with the improved processing and new features and will probably knock the Pixel from 1st place on dxomark. I can't wait to do some testing once I get it.
I can't wait for the 20th and my new phone! I pre-ordered it from CPW on Saturday.

I've had this from Carphone Warehouse several times in the past. I can almost guarantee that if I order anything online from them the payment will be rejected and I will have to contact them, then my bank to get it sorted. I don't know what they do, but I never have issues like this with any other company. When I check my credit reference no search is visible from them and, as you say, there is no reason to refer to a credit reference to buy a phone SIM free!

I didnt order from Samsung because when I went there to check on Sat, it was saying deliver by 28th and didn't even mention getting it earlier via pre-order so I assume they had already sold out of the pre-order ones. I think years ago when I was going to pre-order something from Samsung it turned out that they didn't have enough stock to fill it, and other places like CPW did, so I ended up having to cancel it and get it elsewhere to avoid delays. You would think Samsung themselves would have the most stock but that wasn't the case back then so i haven't ordered direct from them since.
CPW are clearly too incompetent to get their own website to work properly, and too incompetent to be able to deal with it when it doesn't work, so hopefully John Lewis can deliver instead.

On JL website - they only have S8+?
I like you guys LOVE the phone and want to upgrade. 2 things have stopped me, 1 = is what the battery life is going to be like, 2 = and most importantly is because UK is getting screwed again with crap deals, US are getting memory or VR etc and silver colors etc, UK are not getting anything other then maybe insurance or £50 speaker which not all of us want.
Slowly tempted to wait for better deals but look forward to your reviews, Enjoy your new slick phones!!

Depends what you want. I'd much rather have the speaker than a VR headset or a memory card!
I'm not sure the UK is getting screwed - the S8 launches here at the same time as the States. There are many countries that don't see phone releases until much later after launch. We generally get them pretty quickly.

Yup battery life worries me too but I have not found another device that I would be willing to go for and my S5 is getting on a bit so I need to upgrade.
UK being screwed is nothing new. We get screwed on price and screwed on deals for just about everything. Now they are using brexit as an excuse to stick the prices up on everything when we were already paying far more than the exchange rate says we should have been paying in the first place! They have all just spotted an opportunity to increase their profits by a big chunk and hide it as being brexit. And Samsung themselves can keep whacking up prices all over the world because they dont really have any serious competition at the top end, otherwise they wouldn't be able to.

Hey everyone,
My Nexus 6 is at it's end. I'm losing 1% of battery life every two or so minutes. My battery lasts about 5 hours or so. I would prefer to get the XL from Google. It's still so damn expensive. Should I just pull the trigger and get it? Does anyone think there will be deals in a couple of months since the Pixel 2 will be coming out? I'm torn about what to do. If I get the Pixel now, will it be obsolete in a year? With insurance, the payments on the phone would be $40 per month putting the phone at $960. I'm just not sure if I should pull the trigger or wait it out. I've had the N6 for over two years already.
Any advice is welcome.
For what it's worth, I wouldn't shell out that much cash even spread out over time and even for a 128GB , much less for the 32GB. Although the ideal Pixel for me would be the XL 128GB, I settled for the non-XL 32GB because at the time (I know it's not likely now an option from anyone right now), $240 straight out for the Pixel 32GB was just too good to pass up. Personally, although I really hate not having a MicroSD slot or at least 128GB storage, I overall regret having bought two HTC 10s for $500 each the day before I became aware of the Pixel deal. If I had known just how much I would like the Pixel software (but I'm still rooted and on PureNexus ROM), I would have seen about canceling or returning the two 10s.
I may not be the wisest money spender but I'm just not willing to fork out that kind of money for any phone. I already told myself before I sprung for the 10 and the Pixel that if you just wait long enough a deal you can't refuse presents itself, and I re-learned that lesson just a day after buying the 10, which was a deal itself - just not as good a deal as I would have preferred.
The Pixel will not be obsolete in a year, though. If I were going to get one now, if I couldn't find a "can't refuse" deal on a brand new warrantied Google version (unless you don't care about root or can get a pre-7.1 - or was it pre-7.1.1? Verizon Pixel) elsewhere, make sure and check Swappa and buy from a well-rated seller.
When I looked out of curiosity a week or two ago, the Pixel XL 128 GB was a tiny bit cheaper than it used to be, although I don't know if it has gone back up in price since it's been revealed that the Pixel is now "discontinued" through some of the carriers that had it, although I don't know the details of that.
I know it sucks if there just isn't a choice to pay straight out for any decent phone, and so you might feel forced into payments, so of course there are other considerations.
My $20.02. Good luck with your choices.

Thank you sir. The down side is that the 32GB isn't even available through Google. I don't want to get it from Verizon because it's locked. I'm just nervous about waiting too long and have the XL be gone. I'm leaning towards getting it soon because even though it's expensive, it is a monthly payment.
Not having an SD slot is a bummer. I know I can't use a 32GB phone. I'll fill it quick. I've made 3 swappa purchases in the past. Two of them were bad deals. The prices on the Pixel range from 600 to 1200. That's a lot of cash up front where the monthly payments seem better to me.
I don't know what to do. If I buy one now, I have this feeling that in one or two months the price will drop and I'm going to kick myself in the ass. That said, I appreciate everything you've mentioned.
I presume you're not on VZW. In which case idk if I could justify the cost, knowing that it's already about 6 months old.
That said, I wouldn't go for anything less than 128gb. Apps are only getting bigger and bigger. Even with unlimited Google photos storage, you're still going to have apps and app data. You may want to have movies and such downloaded to your device.

I am on Verizon. I just didn't want to get it from them since it's locked. The difference in payments between the two is $4/month. If you buy the Pixel from Google now, do you still get unlimited storage?

To answer your question, yes, the unlimited storage with full un(further)compressed quality is a Pixel perk, and doesn't depend on when you buy the Pixel, and you wouldn't even have to be the original owner/user of the Pixel. For that matter, it probably works for any additional users you would add to the phone via Android.

I did get it from Google. It said 3 to 4 weeks. I dont mind the wait.
Should have waited for pixel 2
Got mine 1/2 price during a vzw sale. There's no way I'd pay more than that because that's all it's worth. It's been the worst "phone" I've ever had in regards to weak signals and dropped calls.
I paid full price for a 128 non-XL. And I've been using Android since the G1, most of my phones had been Nexus phones, every single one of them I modified constantly. This Pixel is the ONLY phone I've been satisfied with. So price to me is irrelevant when it comes to satisfaction. I've wasted SO much more money trying to find the perfect phone for me, than the cost of the Pixel.
I ask because after I waiting a week I initiated a chat with them and the box finally showed up last week. I boxed my 6T up and sent it off over the weekend. Looks like the return label generated is ground shipping which is BS since they don’t do the trade ins like Samsung (give you credit contingent on the phone being in the condition you actually described it). Since you are without your personal device that is highly inconvenient. So it won’t get to its destination until Friday this week. Then they say it may take a few days after that for someone to assess it. Now the website has the shipping times at 10 days. That is crazy. Had I known this process would’ve been this long and drawn out I wouldn’t have bothered doing it. Anyone else going thru this madness? Just seems highly inconvenient for a consumer
I sent my phone last week, it's on its way to TX- will arrive Friday. I'll update you after Ingram receives it.
curious how are you sending the phone in ahead of 2 week return policy period being over - have they changed the requirment?

Cash back has to be done 15 days from purchase. It's mentioned in the FAQ. Voucher is done prior to ordering a 7P. I have backup phones, so someone with 1 device would do cashback.
Hahaha no way. It's a trade in program come on now when are these ever fair to the consumer.... Oh never and this is proof. I had my 8/128 6T in perfect condition appraised by there little trade in program. They were only offering 240 for it and I already I knew it was going to be a hassle with sending it back and inspected so I just laughed really hard at their pathetic offers. I put my phone on offer up and soold it for 400 in just a couple days before the 7 pro came out and I ordered it right away. The best option any of you have if you're looking to make some money out of your current devices then you should sell them yourselves. You will deal with at least headache and hassle.
If you can sell it yourself,do,put an add on marketplace on Facebook, local buy and sell, anything. You won't get anywhere near what it's worth from trade ins,
Me personally I like to try and sell the phone myself but can agree sometimes it can be frustrating dealing with people who like to drive down the price and get the best deal off you,for a quick sale and better prices use shops like CEX in the UK and Ireland, although their prices can be dodgy too at times

The values are quite fair, if not great for other brands. Samsung, Apple, and Moto aren't too bad. For example, an iPhone SE gives 110- about half of what a 6T provides. Some phones give 600+ towards 7 Pro.
I sell things in my personal time, but I don't always the time to physically meet buyers on CL, OU, LG, etc. Online includes fees, that's why I didn't list my phone on eBay/swappa.

There no where near fair. Stop defending them cause you're falling for their trade in scam. Yeah there probably are some phones that will get about 600 for phones that originally cost double that value. But those ones are still getting ripped off badly because you can easily sell your device for a price more to your liking. And if you actually read up on this you would know that no one gets the same offer from OnePlus even if they're devices are in the same conditions they simply offer some people more and some less. I've already seen it happening.
Sold my 6T on Swappa for $440 with a few extra cases. After fees and shipping, cleared about $400. Not saying selling is for everyone but I picked up the 7 pro for only $665 with student discount.

Good idea, trade in for under 70% of what it is worth

I had a 6T with 8/256GB.
The trade in was $270. I sold it for $475.
The trade in is a joke.

Fair has many definitions and you assumed the wrong one. I never said their values were praiseworthy nor equal to sellling. Google gave 250 for an SE, whereas it's only 110 thru OP.
Actually you'd be hard pressed to get 110 for an iPhone SE 32 after all fees (ship, marketplace, and PP)... I'm familiar with Ingram/Phobio, and know that values can fluctuate from start to end. Those that have dealt with Samsung have heard the horror stories for mint phones.
I have no horse in this race, and neither company has done anything for me. I'm simply stating how select trades are okay. Here are confirmed amounts: SE 110, G7 210, Z2 120, v30 190, S7e 140, 8+ 440.
I was an avid SWAPPA user for years. I was selling phones with little issue. Last year I bought a S9+ and sold it a few months after for $650 with no issues. A year later the guy lodges a complaint on swappa but I didnt see it because the email address my account corresponds to on there is an address I check only once and a while. So about 2 weeks had passed from the original complaint being lodged before I responded. Once i did see if I felt terrible but started making phone calls (HE and I were both on T-Mo so I called them immediately to ask why they flagged the phone as stolen even though I had bought it from Samsung directly. The lady i spoke to said that all he had to do was call them and they would lift it. I also called Samsung because my receipt didnt show the IMEI of the phone I purchased and I wanted to get detailed billing showing I legit purchased the phone. Samsung was unable to provide that info even though they verbally confirmed the IMEI was correct (a whole other issue I have). So anyway I responded back on swappa with all this detail and the original buyer wasnt really responding to the site admins and I.
What i didnt know was he lodged a complaint against me on paypal at the same time. Paypal didnt notify me (They claim they called but I had no missed calls from Paypal. I find out about a month after all of this was Paypal account had been charged back for the phone. This guy now has his money back and a perfectly fine Samsung S9+ and I am out the money and no phone. So yeah I USED to sell phones but after this ordeal.....being screwed for a phone I sold a year before......Yeah I'm done with selling phones now......not when the risk is this. I'd rather take the hit on a trade in. I'm still angry about the situation but the guy lives in Michigan and while it may be worth going to there...I dont trust myself on what I might do. I'm taking this as a lesson. **** selling used phones now.

Sounds like we sent it at the same time. Delivery time is for today as well. I didn't realize it would take so long and i have international travel on the 12th planned. I can't use my work phone so I may have to have someone mail me the phone from here.

Hope you dont get ****ed over like I did.
I totally spaced on the cash back option. I just went ahead and bought it now...I know it puts the value I would get back out 15 days + whatever time it takes for me to get the handset in my hand but I couldn't take the chance of waiting for them. I'll take the cash back option after a few weeks. Still inconvenient but a bit better.
