Splash Screens are stationary, and do not move. Boot Animations DO move however and are what is displayed after the splash screen.
If you want a custom boot animation, PM me what you are looking for. No promises, as this is not my specialty, but I can certainly give it a shot.

Hey man, for it being "not my specialty", you do some mighty fine work. Any way you could do a variation of "HTC Inspire, Rooted, S-Off" with a blue background? The order they appear isn't important, I just wanted to get those three points in as the text part.
Thanks much!

Oh dear God, I think you may have answered something I have been wrestling with for a while. If I use the recovery flash method rather than pushing the files with adb, will the theme also include the new custom lock screens?
I just tried to flash my downloaded UOT .zip and now i've got a bootloop.
Do i just make it the same way as i would if i was pushing the -res and UI .APKs to the phone?

You have the recovery? You don't open the zip file and extract it, but put the archive.zip in the directory of the sd and flash it as a zip.
What's recovery? Where can I found it? Sorry, total noob on this..

Hi all MTK (MediaTek) android users !!
I'll teach you to mod your boot_logo present in /media/images of you MTK device.
Basics:
--MediaTek android has three boot screens. 1st one is just an image and it is present in logo.bin. But till now, there is no way to mod logo.bin.
--The second screen is also an image. This is image is from boot_logo in /media/images folder. You can change this easily by following this guide !!
--The third one is the boot animation. It is present in /media/ folder and it is of the same type of all android devices. If you want to change, download normal android boot animations with the correct size of your device.
So, here is the guide:
Get a copy of boot_logo from /media/images to your computer. Rename it to boot_logo.bin
Click to collapse
Download Image_Search_Editor.zip from the attachments. Extract it to a folder.
Click to collapse
Now open Image Search Editor.exe
Click to collapse
Select the file, boot_logo.bin to open.
Click to collapse
Now select 16 colors from the left side panel.
Click to collapse
Now click on the BMP button on the toolbar on the top.
Click to collapse
Now resize the image by clicking : Size --> 'Set Window Size'
Click to collapse
Now resize the image to that of your phone's screen size/resolution (example: 320x480)
Click to collapse
Now you will see the full image.
Click to collapse
Now with the help of photoshop or any other tool, open the image that you want to replace. Resize the image to same size of your screen/screen resolution (example: 320x480)
Save the image as a normal bmp image
Click to collapse
Now, in Image Search Editor, select: Edit-->Replace by BMP. Select the bmp image that you saved.
Click to collapse
Now click Apply
Click to collapse
Then, go to File-->Save as BIN. Save it.
Click to collapse
Rename the newly saved .bin file to boot_logo and replace it your /media/images folder and reboot.
Click to collapse
Click to collapse
Voila !!! The second screen is changed !!!
Will try to upload screen shots and a pre-scripted boot_logo flasher which can flashed through recovery !!!
NOTE: If you have completed modding your boot_logo and if you are adding to your ROM or uploading it anywhere, please give a link to this thread.Thanks.
Hit THANKS if you find this useful !!

I created a full-screen, 720p version of this one: http://i.imgur.com/7iifw.gif as a bootanimation.zip but no matter what I do, (I replace the original bootanimation.zip (in system/media) ) it just shows the default, stock Android boot animation.
I'm running the CM10 nightlies. It doesn't work on Sense ROMs either.
Here's the file: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/2377259/bootanimation.zip
Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?
edit: Can I create it as a flashable zip?

Well, one thing to do would be to re-create the zip. The zip you link to is compressed and you need to remake it so that it is in store mode. Not as familiar with how CM is structured, but you may want to check the default.xml and see what file it is pointing to for the bootanimation. After moving the new zip file in, copy it back out and check the contents to make sure it was actually written to your device. If none of the above works, you'll have to check with someone who has more knowledge than we do about CM.

Incorrect. There is a setting in Development that allows SU access through ADB.

When flashing a ani through my "flasher" it replaces the default.xml file to point to that animation directly which is why I wonder if there is a special thing in CM that replaces it every time it boots.

My bad lol
AH! The pieces of the puzzle I was missing. I needed to change the R/W permissions and zip it without compression. Thanks!

The read/write permissions for the zip file seemed odd, so I set them to 777.
I also zipped them to "stock" (uncompressed) using WinRAR, which no one had ever told me to do.
I have been trying to create my own Boot Animation for a while but I'm missing a step and can't figure out where I am going wrong. Can someone please look at my bootanimation_st.zip file contents and tell me where I went wrong?
Any help is MUCH appreciated.

The name of the zip file should be: bootanimation.zip
And it should be placed in /system/app
Do you got that?

I rename it to bootanimation.zip and copy it over but it doesn't run when I reboot the tablet. I think I am making an error with the desc.txt or maybe even the graphic files?

I've edited ur bootanimation file. Try this.
Nope, didn't work. Thanks though.
It should've worked though.. i recommend you to copy the orignal bootanimation.zip file of ur tablet. And edit it. Do not edit the desc.txt

If your tablet is rooted just edit bootanimation.zip in ur tablet. Copy PNG images in that zip. and try. Keep a backup of zip file in case if this method doesnt work,
