I was trying to get rid of Drop Box and other Picasa folder that was randomly created by cleaning the Camera app cache and it started to delete all my pictures one by one in about a minute.
I went to settings and looked at option like Backup and Restore as well as Account & sync (only has an option for Google Photos but this doesn't seem to be it). I disabled Backup and Restore by default.. I enabled them for a day but didn't do anything.
Is there a way to back up the pictures? Things like bookmark, contacts, pictures automatically backed up whenever I flashed new ROM or update them, but it seems like my phone deleted all of them this time...
Please help me out!
Hi,
I just ran into something similar. Once in Gallery, go to settings, click on your Google account and then enable photo sync. It immediately displayed all of my albums.
No luck, I tried so many methods as well. Reflash ROM, GAPPS, wipe ROM and clean flash... etc.
Only way it works is restoring my old ROM backup, but once it backs up all my pictures, it starts to delete all of them again one by one........
As the title says I upgraded to Lollipop, rooted and restored all my apps through Titanium. Now apps like Photos, Piktures and Gallery KK won't see any of my old photos from /sdcard/DCIM/ or anywhere else in storage actually. Yes, I tried setting Photos app to "On device."
QuickPic can find everything of course and all the images are intact, but that's it. Now, if I take a new picture, that will show up in the above apps. I was hoping that might kickstart the mediascanner to discover the rest, but sadly no.
anyone know how under Lollipop I can reset the picture media db? the sd media scanner apps I've tried all crash under 5.0
Do I have to sync them all to Google+ auto backup maybe? I've never used that.
thanks in advance.
EDIT: deleted my Media Storage data, rebooted and all is happy again.
Everything has been fine with Google Photos for me until recently other folders containing photos from apps like VSCO Cam other apps has disappeared from the "Device Folders" section of the app. As I said, these were all displayed until the last few days. I have no idea what happened. I use Solid Explorer and I can see the photos are all still on my phone so it's not like they've been deleted. Anyone come across this issue or would know how I can fix it? I've tried clearing the data/cache of the Photos app and that didn't work. I also tried clearing the cache of Media Storage but that didn't correct the problem either. I'm not sure what to do.
Anyone else had a similar issue or know how to resolve it?
Solved.
Needed to show hidden files using Solid Explorer, deleted the file called ".nomedia" and alas, all the device folders are now being displayed again in Google Photos!
So i was using snapseed and as i was saving, it took forever. It could not manage to save, and then i tried on other photo editing software and no pics was saved despite hitting save. The photos does not appear in the gallery. It appears in the file manager but when i connect my phone to my pc, that file is no where to be seen on my pc.. something is wrong. Even facebook photos which i click save or any photos n video that it downloaded doesnt seem to be saved in my phone. Something is so wrong with my phone. pls help..

In the OnePluss gallery app, the camera folder and pictures are missing also in Photos(Google). The only was I can see the pictures that I have take is if I go to File manager and navigate to the camera folder DCIM. This started a few weeks ago, I have try all basics with the exception of a factory reset. Has anyone see this problem?
I chat with OnePlus support but they suggested to do a factory reset and I am trying not to do that. Searching did not got me anywhere. Any help I can get will be much appreciate it.

Strange. Maybe try to wipe data and cache for the Gallery app. It shouldn't affect your photos to do so. But backup your photos, just in case (as you always should for any data that is important to you, anyway).

Already try that, I first try wiping the cache for the gallery app and then wipe all the cache for the phone.
There are no pending updates.

Wiped app data as well? This would be "Clear storage" in OOS Settings>Apps & notifications>Gallery>Storage & cache.
Wiping cache usually doesn't do much. Wiping app data on the other hand, I've found helpful in some instances, such as to clear up sync issues on Gmail.

Do your pics show up in any other photo app, like Google Photos (install if not already)?

No, they do not
This happened to me at Christmas, I was out trying to upload a picture to Instagram and it wouldn't work so I thought it was a problem with the app but no phone deleted 100s of pictures and no new photos would save so had to factory reset
have you managed to resolve non-display images to the gallery? it's always nothing to me
Hello,
I just have the same issue with my OnePlus 5 with Android 10.
The gallery is empty, but all my photos are still in the phone and save on google cloud.
I can find them with a file manager app, I am even able to open them with the gallery app but not with google photo.
I can find the new photos in the file manager but they are not saved into the cloud.
Do you resolved the issue without a factory reset?
All my photos are in my gallery. Only issues I'm having is every time I download pictures background. Any screenshots I have to hunt them up to share. My actual camera taken photos are in my gallery butt that's it's
Just wipe data & cache from Media storage(app) and reboot.
If that doesn't work search for hidden file called ".nomedia" in your storage, that file prevents the system from searching for image or video files

I was having this problem since the Android 12 upgrade yesterday. I found them in Albums > More Albums > Other. My folders used to be the default view when I opened the Gallery app but that option appears to be gone now. Utter garbage.
