Google News problem. - General Questions and Answers

Hello, is there any way to set up news from couple of different countries to show on Google News? I am having French ones on the start but I would like to include ones from different countries as well (on their native language if possible since I use the application to learn languages).

HTC Diamond ordering / Language

Hello all, and thank you very much for this very instructive forum.
I plan to buy a new mobile phone and am quite tempted by the new HTC Touch Diamond.
I've found several offers, but they do not each propose the exact same version of the phone. I've found (at least) 4 different versions : "UK", "NL", (on CloolBlue) "EU, English", "French" (on Expansys). Since the price and/or the delivery date differ, I'd like to know what are the other differences between these versions.
As their naming indicates it relates to the language (and maybe the country), but will the phone be different? As far as I can imagine, the difference might be:
- with the manuals (paper)
- hardware: ?
- software: the menu of the system
- software: the software keyboards (accented letters?!)
- software: the dictionaries (T9...)
- other?
Could anybody with experience of HTC products explain what are their habits in this area?
On another hand, as far as the differences are only software, in which extend is it possible to change it after (menus, keyboards, dictionnaries...)?
Thank you in advance.
one that is quad band would be nice.....
In my experience, only the software will differ. I mean the used language in standard apps and settings, menu's and dialogs. Things as T9 dictonaries will be almost certain available in many languages.

OK, no problem for me having menus and dialogs in another language (I even prefer having them in English). But I'm more concerned by the SIP and the T9, since I'll type a lot of messages in French. Let's assume T9 are available in several languages. What about the SIP, does it support all languages (especially as far as the special characters (accented letters...) are concerned)?
And, if not, my next question is: How easy is it to change the SIP? (I mean replacing the native (Diamond) English keyboard by a native (Diamond) French keyboard.)
Since I'm completely new to HTC/WM, I don't even know if (and how) it's feasible.

[Q] Language Packages: how to change...

Ok folks, this is a serious issue! (At least for me!)
I've used apps like custom locale & more locale to change the basic system language (aka menus).
But since Android is linux based there should be a way to actually pick the entire language package from one ROM (like original pt-br) and insert/replace en-us or chinese ones.
I've searched for an app to do so but to no avail.
Maybe this should be a Thread for "Android development" but since I have a Defy and the ROM I'm using (and liking more) is chinese I chose to place it here (Just to explain: I don't speak chinese and my docs are in portuguese).
Could some developer out there help with this issue?
of course there is a way. it's called apktool, well, a little patience too.
that's how we've got chinese on uk/tmo/pl releases.
but since you are asking the question, don't try doing it just now.
I want to know too.
on Linux, I know is need to config locale,
don't know android.

[Q] NA Nokia Lumia 900 (Windows Phone Mango) - Adding Languages

I apologize for not being able to post in the appropriate thread, but I am following these instructions for adding not-officially-supported languages for the Nokia Lumia 900 device that I purchased with AT&T.
I have succesfully flashed my desired languages (Finnish and Norwegian) to be included with the already included English and Spanish languages. I didn't update the core OS, and left it at 7.10.8112.7.
However, as expected, there are some "bugs". Really I have only noticed two.
Nokia Scout tells me when I open it (translated): "Scout isn't available in this land or in this region". This may be app-related and I frankly don't think I care too much about Scout since I don't know what it is.
My second problem is more bug related and problematic to me. The "nokia blue" theme does not appear in the list of themes for the windows phone. Thus, when switching to one of the two new languages, the theme gets defaulted to purple, but apps with live tiles think it should use green. Manually selecting a theme fixes the problem, but I really would like nokia blue.
Is this possbly related to outdated language files? If so, how can I download the latest language files?
Hi,
I got your email and I'll answer here so others can see too. The problem with Local Scout is that it's not available in Finland. Be sure to set only Display Language to Finnish and leave others as US. That way those apps *should* work. (Also needs US Live ID) The second problem is that accent colors are language based, so you cannot fix it. It will only work on languages that the Lumia 900 came with.

I noticed the Lumia 900 is started preorders today in Finland.
Is it possible I can flash the nordic ROM or something once someone gets it?

That might be possible, but since the European version of the Lumia 900 has different hardware so you might loose 4G and maybe 3G too.

Only English and Chinese on HTC 8X ...

Hello, I have always visited the forum ... but now I can not find the solution.
Shop by ebay htc 8x and only include 3 languages. Viewing forums, several have this problem, but others do not ... I guess it's the rom.
This is the response from HTC:
Because of previous agreements with Microsoft, the language change option is not available for models like 8 x therefore confirm the language is recommended prior to purchase, we are sorry but you can not change the language, this option is not available.
Also if you can check directly with microsoft support so you can verify if they have any option to change the language as they developed the computer's operating system.
Any solutions?
Sorry for my English, I speak spanish. Use google translator
Windows Phone 8 supports many languages but if your ROM does not contain the language you wanted, there is no way I know of can install on to it. Basically, that is a carrier phone and the particular carrier don't want to pay extra for language packs that will not be used in their market.
See if you can find another ROM to flash that do include the language but also compatible with your particular model.

I can get your phone to use spanish, but it's a little bit complex, you have to download the RUU_Europa rom and unrar the exe file with WinRAR and use a Y-Cable and a Flash disk to flash your phone. I've successfuly update my phone to add chinese GUI
YOU are upgrade rom ship EU khi bootloader your phone 15x or DOWNGRADE ROM ship china. I'm FINDING for Chinese ship rom.
WHO IS CHINA SHIP TO PLEASE ROM

[Q] Change day name in language file (or where ever)

Hi!
I wonder if it is possible to change the name of a day in the Android calendar. The german language has two different names for "Saturday", which is commonly translated with "Samstag" (that is - today - the most-used word in tv, papers etc.). But I prefer the North-German word "Sonnabend" which is slowly getting lost.
Is there any way to change this without cooking a new rom? Currently I'm using unofficial CM11 on a HTC HD2.
Regard,
Thomas

Never Heard of that before!! well i guess it would be quiet difficult becuase it's to common and most of the coding would have been used for names but not numbers....
I still Like the Question you asked and will search and let you know
