Ok so I bought the phone 3-4 months ago and I felt the same way throughout the entier 3-4 months:
THIS PHONE IS GARBAGE. Like straight up, something has to be wrong with the surfaceflinger, GPU drivers or something.
THE ANIMATIONS, OH GOD, THEY ARE SO CHOPPY IT MADE ME REMEMBER MY OLD LG P500.
WHAT IS THIS? Am I the only one feeling this way?
I have 4 phones that I can compare it to: Huawei P9, Galaxy S6, Nexus 5 and a Galaxy J5. THE RN5 IS THE WORST when it comes to scrolling and other things.
The user experience is the worst. It gave me headaches. I feel dizzy while using the phone sometimes because of the change in FPS while scrolling (like it goes from 60fps to 3fps for 50-100ms).
No, nothing is wrong with my phone. I have tested my own and a friends rn5. Its the same.
Is there any ROM or anything that can save me from throwing the phone out the window?

Roms sure have a look in the roms section there's plenty there for you to look at.
Do you have Redmi note 5 pro or redmi note 5? Because it's not the same device (not even same cpu, RN5 has Qualcomm Snapdragon 625, the RN5 Pro has Qualcomm Snapdragon 636...
You sure you are in the right thread?
PS: My RN5 Pro works fine, not sure what you are referring about.
Hi there.
If you really have the SD636 version (Redmi Note 5 Pro or Redmi Note 5 AI Dual) and if you are using STOCK Rom, then your phones (yours and your friends) are not OK.
I would try a hard reset and after that, without extra apps installed, I would check the performance. If it's the same, then I would consider the following:
-Your software is somehow altered or your hardware is bad. Those are even more probable if you both bought them from the same reseller. In that case, I would check with the reseller...
If you still believe that this is not the case and the model, in general, is bad, check around you. Almost everybody, including myself, is pleased with the phone and we are not experiencing your issues.
The Snapdragon 636 is an above average SOC and together with all the other specs, guaranties that you could not experiencing such issues from a healthy phone.

You are but you cant see them.
After playing CSGO at a low latency(+400fps) and doing many things like that (my home monitor has 240Hz) I can see the lag. My friend does not feel it but I do (and I read some people here did notice the lags too).
Take your phone, look at the screen (concentrate on it) and do something over and over again (like going into the messages app and back). You will see that there are slight lags (duration is between 50-100ms).
Nothing is wrong with my or my friends phone Something is wrong with xiaomis ****ty software.
edit: just installed AOSIP Pie and it feels way better than Miui and any other ROM. Might be placebo and my brain being done with the phone.
I will just sell it. I will never ever buy xiaomi again. My nexus 5 feels smoother than this garbage.

Some people says that treble pie gsi is smoother than any other rom, but didn't test it for now
---------- Post added at 12:47 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:41 AM ----------
Btw some people goes to changing kernels and oc, and i tried that also but didn't notice that difference i was looking for also this isn't a reliable solution in a long term
Well, I would take your word for that but maybe after all there is something you could use to check the issue and perhaps quantify it.
So, If you enable the Developer Options on your phone, you may run the kind of tests you are describing after you select: On Screen as bars, under Profile GPU Rendering in Developer Options.
Long bars above the base line indicate, I think, lag and micro-stutters. If you pinpoint how your lags correlate with the bars you see on your mobile screen, you can take some screenshots (or even a video) and show us what you mean.
Then we could run, more or less, the same tests on our phones and see if there is a difference or not. In the end we may be able to understand the situation better.
Who knows, perhaps you could be on something, the rest of us haven't noticed....
On bootleggers 2.3
If you just install Rom and some small apps, Nexus 5 will give you better feeling but with full apps and need battery life, it will be different story
i dont have any issue with the performance of this phone ,its better than my unrootable mate 8/9 , but the build quality and hardware totally sucks , theres ghost image everywhere, and the screen looks so ugly now because of screen retention issue .
Buy phone for 140$ dollars, then cry that its not as smooth as his 140hz monitor. Lmao, trully. Phone is great, it doesnt lag, every reviewer will say the same, and believe me, they have more expirience with phones than you do. Ofcourse, i dont think that its smoother than say iphone for 1000$, but its a god damm 140 dollars device. Ive been on xda many years, and noticed that the cheaper the phone is, the ****tier the forum is. Please, by all means, show me a smoother/better device for for this price, then i can atleast take this rant seriously, because as of now, you just talk nonsense.
You need SoC more than 800 processor phone. Never buy less than that. That is downgrade for you , so you will have some lags. For most people having this phone is better than redmi note 3 or 4x which they already got . So we enjoy this good phone for this prize .
Not Good..

Your post doesnt make sense either buddy. Are you here just to cry about me crying about the phone? What am I trying to accomplish:? Its simple: im trying to look for an answear and also maybe some help.
for everyone that is crying:
1) Im comparing the 140$ to a 30$ nexus 5 with a 32Bit snapdragon 800. The problem is not the phone or price, its the laggy experience. Its a little bit hard to see but after you see it you cant unsee. There was a guy in the pixel experience extended who started crying that his phone is lagging now and it wasnt before (using miui and other roms). His phone is fine, its just the fact that he saw the lag.
2) Stop crying about **** like „REVIEWERS SAID THE PHONE IS FAST!!! BEST PHONE FOR 140$!!!!!!”. I couldnt care less about what random paid reviewers said about a phone.
3) I just tested a Nokia with a snap 636 and a Zenfone 5. Both of them were way smoother, it felt a lot better than this garbage.

Well just shows how little you know about phones, if compared to nexus 5, redmi note 5 is **** for you. Because it just happens that i also posses nexus 5, and that device is piece of ****. Horrible camera, even more horrid battery, cheap plastic build. Come on.. You are bashing this phone because damn animations arent smooth enough for you, LMAO. Im not even gonna keep arguing, because its useless and not even funny anymore. Then sell the device and enjoy your nexus 5. Oh, and you probably are more qualified and proffesional than the rest of whole fu***** world, because every reviewer praise this phone, and it just happens to be best selling device of low/mid range.
Wow, what's this XDA?
Simple as that, if you are not satisfied, sell the phone. I have a S7 here next to me and my redmi note 5 global is as good or in some points better than the S7. I've had every S1 to S7, except the S4. I had a Nexus 5, Oneplus One etc. etc Ok I don't play games on it, but camera and batt wise I am more than triple satisfied over the S7.
The redmi note has micro stutters, guess what. the S7 is sometimes worse.
Just sell it, it's not worth arguing with people. If this is your last Xiaomi, then yes so be it. The Oneplus One was my first and my last Oneplus, it was a fantastic phone which I personally recommended to a lot of people but someone I recommended one to got absolute **** after service and I refuse to buy another one because of this.
If other people are satisfied then let them be satisfied, you don't have to be.

Someone with a working brain. I made the thread asking for help, not for idi.. to tell me that i have a problem with my device or anything like that.
I just asked if anyone is experiencing this (and yes, someone people has ).
I didnt start the thread to fight with randoms on the internet. Its like I attacked their family and they have to protect it..
I am just asking for some help. Maybe a proper ROM, kernel, anything that would make my experience better. What did I get? Randoms from india crying that this is the best device and a guy talking about battery and camera while my problem was user experience.
I will just share my experience regarding this, I agree about the part of speed but there are a few points here, For example when we talk about Nexus 5 as the OP mentioned you must keep in mind that you’re talking about pure android system, no extra modifications, no custom UI, no custom apps…etc and that makes a huge difference when it comes to speed that’s for sure, in the case of nexus 5 and the similar phones which come with stock android (from the manufactures) the ROM is bug free or with the minimal bugs, on the other side the ROMs which have their own UI like Xaiomi, Sony, HTC…etc, no doubt it won’t be smooth as the pure android due to the UI modifications and the custom apps, you can easily flash a custom ROM to enjoy the speed but what about stability and the features that you will lose? I will talk about my previous device which was Sony Xperia Z2, I flashed all the custom ROMs which were available, much more speedy than the stock ROM but here are SOME of the issues I had, can’t use WIFI 5GHz, Mic issues and echo (good enough reason to rollback to stock), overheating, can’t select the network manually, some games can’t start at all…and much more.
The problem is how to find a ROM which balances between the speed and stability and this isn’t easy, the solution for the people who are looking for the speed and don't care that much about UI is to choose a device which comes with a pure android system.
Again, I’m just sharing my experience and no offense to anyone

I've kept my eye on the G pro 2 for a while (was about to get the original O G pro, but waited for this to come out). So I'm well aware of the specs, features, reviews, etc. But what I want to know is a real world user's opinion of the device.
Is the phone pretty decent? Any frustrations or quirks to know before trying to get one?
Key questions:
*How is the Mic/voice quality? (sending and receiving during a voice call)
*How is the battery life(I know it depends on usage and habits of the user, but just overall, how would you rate it personally, compared to other current/comparable Android phones)?
*Is it relatively stable and responsive?
*What bothers you about this phone?
*Would you buy it again if you were in the market for a new phone right now?(tells me that you like the phone and are overall happy with it)
I plan on getting a F350(a bit confused with the S/L/etc. acronym endings, can any one shed light?) I want to use it on at&t's network. On paper, and seeing professional reviews, the G pro 2 seems like my phone (1080p 5.9" screen, expandable memory via microsdhc, user replaceable battery, decent camera, etc.) But I want to know, if in practice, the phone is stable/frustration free(relatively speaking), decent real world battery life (if it's competent/comparable at least.. ), hoping that this is not one of those, "you have to root it and install a custom rom in order for this phone to be bearable"- type thing.
My other considerable is the Sony Xperia Z2 (prices are right, even though the screen is smaller and the battery isn't "replaceable"). I didn't want the Samsung Galaxy series due to the smaller screens and bloatware they put on there(note's a great series, but simlar.. bloatware, plus really expensive).
Thanks! I appreciate any input!
these are my questions too..
I came from a Samsung S3 (running CM).
first impressions were: Nice clean looks and lines, it's big (but it's not unwieldy). my wife has a Note 3 and it's about the same. the curve along the back sides makes it more comfortable to hold. Obviously, it's a heavier phone due to size, so your hand might get tired if you're one to use your phone lying down or something.
Screen is fantastic. I have no problems with colour issues with the screen and it's bright enough for me, even outdoors.
Battery life is good. standby can last more than a day. in usage, i was a bit busy yesterday and didn't use it too much, but from 0700 to 2300, i had 63% before i plugged it in. on a more typical day, I'd probably have around 40%. mainly a mixture of whatsapp, a few blogs, games and some TV show watching at lunch.
Camera is decent and acceptable auto focus speed. not a lot of bloatware.
I'm running 10e firmware due to bugs in 10f and waiting for lollipop. 10e is stable. not had problems with it.
problems: it's not widely available and the user base is small. so don't expect any fancy mods/firmwares or anything like that. as such, there's not a lot of accessories for it either outside of LG's own stuff.
My friend has the Z2 (not looked, but isn't the Z3 pricing nearly the same now?), and his camera is better and the battery life is longer due to Sony's Stamina software. display is about the same. If you want a big, stock phone, the LG is great. if you want to play around and like to customise your phone, then i'd go with the Sony.
Thanks for your input Ray-Lee .
I'm on the fence between the two phones, I like the bigger screen on the G pro 2, I haven't held one yet in person, but I don't think I"ll be bothered by it at all. Only thing that really entices me for the Z2 are the current prices for it right now.. for relatively similar specs, smaller screen, but better camera compensates. Honestly, I want the device to work well out of the box.. this is xda and I do play with custom firmwares and roms, but that's more of a result than a mission for me these days.. as in, if the unit runs better/faster/more stable compared to stock(or.. if stock is so horrendous that it must be rooted and flashed to be "decent").

Ive been using this phone pretty much since it came out (D838 rooted stock) and the stock Performance is fantastic if im honest it really doesn't need a custom rom unless you want to "mod" alot of things and even then as long as your careful theres still alot you can do with just root, i love this phone so much and its modified enough for my liking without a rom, its fine right out of the box and if you can live without a custom rom (which is really doesnt need that much) i think you'll be as happy as i am with this phone on stock with or without root.
But yes if you do like to flash and mess about alot go with the z2/note3 as there is more options there but this is still a brillant phone.

Thanks a lot for the assurance. I'm still bouncing around phone options, I guess it just comes down to price (best bang for buck, with expandable memory at least). I'm still considering the G pro 2, but I saw how the GS note 3 has come down a lot in price.
Thanks again!

I've had both and granted you can mess around with roms and stuff but for pure joy in use i much prefer the g pro 2 its a really really good phone and for the low price you really cant beat it in my opinion unless this phone gets a good recovery and cm11 ill never bother with costom roms ect. For me its perfect on stock the peformence is amazing, to date (about 6 months of owning this phone) the battery still amazes and im yet to see any lag ever!! The ui is amazing, for a phone out of the box you cant beat it if you like music it outputs brillantly im just in love so maybe im a little one sided but i hope whatever you do you will be happy! I only can agree with that!
I did get mine last week and i am very happy with it! Came from Galaxy Note 2 wich i liked very much but i dont trust Super Amoled Display technology since noone grants you that it will operate more than 3 years with heavy use. I chose this device because it has similar dimensions as the Note 2, stronger hardware, bigger 1080p reliable IPS LCD screen and fabulous 3200 mAh battery.
It's a must have for phablet lovers that want to have a good performing phone with large screen.
After just a few days of use this is my opinion. On software side is everything ok, just the usual Kit Kat problem that bugs lots of users out here, tha lack of having permissions for apps to write to sd card. That was the only thing that bothered me, but thats on Google side. This phone is truly amazing!
Hope that helps the peple to choose the best device for their specific needs. I found mine definitely.
Thank you for the input bhun and derbyshire! I really like the phone and want to get it, but for me the G pro 2 shipped from Asia to the US (I need the F350 model for LTE compatibility), it's about $600, I'm going to wait out just a little longer, it's a bit out of my budget (was hoping to score a phone for less than $450.. Sony Z2 and ZU did fit that for me, but not anymore either, haha).
I'm glad to hear that it's a great phone though(G pro 2), hopefully the prices will come down a bit for the F350 model and I can obtain one soon. Thanks again to all who have contributed!

The things that bother me about this phone are the poor wifi signal, I can be within a meter of my router and it still fluctuates between 3 and 4 bars. Any less than 4 bars wifi signal seems to have a noticeable impact on browsing performance. I also find the mobile data hotspot a pain, every so often the connection would hang and you would have to turn data off and back on again to get it to work. It seemed to do that every hour or so. Also if the phone gets even minutely warm, the brightness level will restrict itself to between 80% and 90%. I have had 3 LG G Pro 2 and they have all been the same. I also notice some flickering at times, especially when there is a white background on a webpage. I am almost fed up of mine and looking at selling it soon. It does have the potential to be a good phone, and I think all the faults I mentioned could be fixed with a decent firmware update.
I agree with you on wifi reception, its been the worst amongst all the phones i have owned

Good Buy
It's a good buy switching. Switched from GS5 to this
Okay, so now, today I´m going to change my actual Phone (Z3 Compact) and don´t know what take, LG G4 and Zenfone are not available for sell here, and I don´t like HTC too much, so my options are Galaxy S6 Edge 64 GB or iPhone 6 Plus 64 GB.
I tried and tested both devices before, and I like both, but I don´t know if take the risk with Galaxy S6 Edge because of his RAM Managment problems, because idk if that problem is even going to be fixed. The other things, camera, screen, features, etc are very good, also I like the Edge desing, it is very new and cool.
Apart of that, I liked the very smoth UI, interface and ecosistem of iOS, it can handle a looot of Apps in background with only 1GB (I don´t need those called "true multitasking" because it seems to not exist in Galaxy S6). I don´t care about how closed iOS is, because I can jailbreak it anyway. The things that I not like from iPhone 6 are that the specs maybe can´t run future apps and get obsolete after some time.
Conclusion: I dont know, I tried both, I liked both, first I was going to purchase S6 until I know about the Ram problems, then I give a try to iPhone 6 and now I can´t decide, for me is a risk take S6 knowing his very serious Ram problem, so what I need now is some opinions to help me finally decide for one, I need to know your experiences guys
Thanks!
You sound like an iphone guy to me. Not being funny, but a friend once asked me the same question. He just wanted a phone to work and I suggested he go for the iphone. It was an iphone 4 and he still uses it happily.
I'd say go for an iphone.
p.s. there is no serious RAM problem. Apps load into memory and work.

Well, I like how IOS just works, what I not like too much are the specs, because I use the phones for intensive tasks and do a lot of multitask, already tried galaxy s6 and I see for my own that the problem with ram management is very serious because it close almost everything and sometimes only keeps light apps (caller, contacts) in background. I like Android, used it for almost 3 last years, but now it get complicated because I need a good flagship phone, and LG G4 for example is not available to purchase yet in my country, neither Zenfone 2 (Ok maybe it is not a flagship, but his multitasking seems very awesome). Last I don't like HTC too much, so it is not a option for me. So my only election now is galaxy s6 and iPhone 6 Plus, but each time I remember how bad was s6 with multitasking in a test I do, I rethink again to purchase iPhone 6. If atleast someone confirm that the problem is going to be fixed, I will go direct to samsung, but until now after some months I don't see nothing yet.
I had a galaxy s6 ,now i have iphone 6 ...
Galaxy s6 is a good phone but with a big problem for ram management...antutu benchmark show me 67000 point ... And the galaxy was no very smooth... Try to find a phone in 2015 with 67000 point on antutu who are not smooth...i don t understand that... It s for that i have iPhone 6 ... And it s more limited for customization but is always simple and smooth. I was very tired to try to fond solution to made my galaxy smooth...it s not normal for a flagship at 700 euros .
With iphone i am happy,i don t Like Apple , but the ram management is Better and it s stable .
The galaxy s6 has a Better camera that is true but photo with iPhone are not bad

cant you wait a couple of months for the NOTE 5/6s...? if you can then i suggest you wait, i have a galaxy S6, and i am very satisfied with it, its smooth most of the time, sometimes i notice some stutter, sometimes the screen response after a second of the actual touch, but i am very happy with it, i know there is a ram problem, but i hardly open a couple of apps, so it doesn't bother me, the iphone 6 is a great phone, no doubt, but you have to consider the cons of the OS, its very limited, you can't do anything without being an itunes user, a bit smaller screen, if you option for the 6 plus then you get the better iphone, though its a bit too big, and too thin, so the bendgate thing is true, and i saw one with someone i know which had a bend, i would say the thing that decides for most people here is the OS....i highly recommend you to wait for the NOTE 5,6S,nexus #......

I was thinking the same, if not purchase nothing yet and wait for future flagships and future iPhone, but in that case when new flagship comes I am going to want next ones and in this way I am never going to get nothing haha. Also, today I am to capital city of my country where I can find the best prices for unlocked versions, so, most probable is that I'm going to purchase the new phone today, the problem is I can't decide yet lol... I think I'm going to explode

i was like you before i got my s6, i had to decide between S6, NOTE 4, M9, wait for the G4 or wait for the NOTE 5, i ended up getting the S6 which is the best out of all these...i know the software is not the best, but LG ui has the same problems and even worse, i have an LG tablet and almost every time i get into the facebook app and then get out, the home screen redraws....i guess its because of the memory leak....if you'r looking for th smoothest then iphone 6...at least for now, until 5.1.1 get released for the S6....

The problem is that yesterday sammobile tested an early build of 5.1.1 for Galaxy S6, and someone ask to they if the ram management problem persist in that build, sammobile answers the question saying that the problem is still happening on that 5.1.1 build. Yes it was a early build, but, that answer give me bad hopes, and coming from samsung Idk if they care so much about this serious problem because they anyway sell a lot... I'm about to purchase s6, but this problem is regret me from doing that.

I switched from an iPhone 6 to this. According to what you said just now, I would say that the iPhone 6 is a better phone for you. If you want a phone that just works, the iPhone is really the way to go.

iOS handles RAM management very differently than Android. Only a handful of apps are truly allowed to run in the background. Regardless of if it's listed in the recent apps menu or not, almost all apps are suspended if it's not actively being used. This way of interacting with apps may be preferable for some.
Yes, I use both an iPhone and Android device on a daily basis, I'm not trying to knock either, they both have their merits, but also drawbacks

Guys, i am really insecure if i should buy this Phone, I heard the camera is just meh, which i could live with (but only if that means medicore) and Software-OS is a huge Letdwown, can someone Tell me how realistic it would be that there will be custom roms? can it also be possible that there will never be custom Roms? and do you think this Phone could be Future proof (Talking about 2-3 Years) I do not want to regret it if i order it since it is a fair amount of money

This phone will never have a custom rom. Better wait the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 that will launch in october, Xiaomi release kernel sources few weeks/days after the launch. And Xiaomi's camera quality is not bad now

I used the mix 2s and it was a good experience but that LCD display was a let down and i could never live with that horrible selfie camera. Also, apps tend to hang and crash alot, at least when i used it. LCD was bad because of JDI manufacturers, same idiots who supplied oneplus with the displays in their oneplus one models which had the infamous yellow band at the bottom. If you're not OCD and can live with it go ahead. Cant fault that amazing 845 SD

coming from a glitchy, lagging Samsung S7 Edge with a pink line defect...
The camera is pretty meh. Hardware wise, it should have the oomph, but the software doesn't seem to optimize it. My 2 year old S7 seems to take slightly better pics from stock. Front facing pop up is more of a novelty but I like it.
The lower PPI screen is apparent compared to pixel rich Samsung phones. I'm not talking about the color, I can almost see the pixels. It's like going from a 4k tv to a DLP.
The on-display fingerprint reader works 9/10 times for me on the first try. I don't understand why people are having issues with it. Maybe they have dirty screens or dirty fingers. If it doesn't register it the first time, i give it quick rub with my finger and press down again and it get's it 100% on the second attempt. There might have been one time it wasn't working when my finger was wet. You can also register more fingers, so.....more chances to get it right.
I actually love the FunTouch OS because it is like iOS. Despite android having 10 million themes, iOS may be bland but it just works. Having FunTouch is like going back to that familiar comfort without resorting back to Apple.
I think it's too early on to say NEVER but it will depend how tech savvy you are messing with software internals, and comfortable with the risks associated with bricking your phone. This is not the phone to get if you want to do custom ROMs unless you want to be a pioneer.
No phone is future proof, and that's a good thing. Every year, new innovation inspires better designed phones. Of course, with daily use it will last you a good few years if handled with care. The most current software should also last at least 2 years even if Vivo doesn't get any further updates, as most app developers write programs going back at least one generation of software.
I bit the bullet, knowing well of the NEX's shortcomings but after going through Samsungs S7, S6, and Apple's 6, 5, 4, 3, and OG phones, I wanted to try something else. I wasn't impressed by the latest Note 9 and the upcoming iPhone X successor leaks are not promising as well. Having gone through the NEX and tweaking it to my liking, I am very pleased with this phone. I don't know if it's because I set the bar low, but it definitely surpassed my expectations, despite the negative reviews.
I'm sitting on a fence I've been scooting on for the past 2 phone upgrades. Always felt like "OK, this is the time I jump off the Samsung ship" but have never done so. I currently have a Note 9 and in my head, the natural choice would be a Note 10+. That had been my thinking until Sprint released the OP7 Pro 5G. I know all the specs and all the differences between both on paper. I guess maybe I'm trying to get someone to convince me one way or another. I don't think I've seen a screen better than the ones on Samsung flagships and I'm afraid I'd be trading down if I went OP7. I know about the 90hz screen but since I've never seen it on a phone, I could live without it since I wouldn't know what I'm missing out on. At the same time, my s-pen use has dropped dramatically since I first used on on the Note 4 and honestly, I never use it unless I'm cropping a screenshot, which is rare. I live in Dallas. So I'd have access to Sprints 5G, as rudimentary as it is now. Hence the fence sitting. Basically, I'm looking for someone to slap the ish out of me and help me choose -_-

First off, I've read multiple reviews stating that the screen on the 7 Pro is as close to a screen on a Samsung phone as you're gonna get. The 90Hz is pretty badass. Especially when you can have a 60hz and a 90hz screen next to each other, the difference is night and day. Second, Samsung is garbage, trust me, I've had every Galaxy since the S7 Edge (except Notes) up to the S10. The software experience is sublime compared to Samsung's. Granted, OneUI has definitely come a long way from TouchWiz, but it's still laggy, heavy, and bogs down after awhile IMO. The cameras are far from Samsungs quality, but it's a phone camera, and to be honest, I prefer OnePlus's camera over Samsung's because it's not oversaturaded and punchy (OP is more natural). The pop-up camera is awesome, just because of the added screen real estate. The phone screams with an AOSP based ROM, hell, even on OOS. The performance is amazing. I had the S10, and it could barely play a full match of Fortnite without running out of RAM. I'm always using 3.8 out of 7.8gb of RAM at all times even with heavy gaming such as Call of Duty: Mobile, Shadowgun Legends, Asphalt 9, PUBG Mobile, etc. To top it all off, can't go wrong with the Alert Slider. Good luck with the 5G version though, to me, it's worth getting the 7 Pro over the 5G version, especially if you wanna get into rooting/modding. So many people complain about it not having ROM/development support. Plus, 5G is just getting started, I would personally give it a few years before it's something to even write home about. LTE does me fine enough since I have 100mbps at home and I'm not on my phone much at work. If you need to know anything else, let me know.

The OnePlus 7 Pro is not a device you get cause of it's bells & whistles. You'd want to get it cause it gets the job done many $900+ phones already do. I believe The OS is the main feature for OnePlus phones. It may not have stuff stuff OneUI does but OxygenOS is very, very fast. OnePlus makes sure their OS is consistently fast
The 90hz display is out of this world. It is HARD to go back to a 60hz display. Using my girlfriends Galaxy S10+ looks jittery when scrolling & I just don't like it, haha.
Updates, this is where OnePlus shines. 3 years of guaranteed Android version updates. Not quarterly security updates. We're talking full on Android versions. The OnePlus 3/3T is on Android Pie & it came out in 2016! Same year the Galaxy S7 came out & it's stuck on Oreo (officially) forever.
The only thing you'll be missing is Wireless charging & a headphone jack. The camera does a pretty good job, but it could be better.
So, if you're the type of person that wants fast updates, a fluid, consistent, stock-ish Android experience, & 3 years of guaranteed updates. This phone is for you.
Depends if you want no corner cuts, a much better camera, battery knife, and the extra features like reverse wireless charging which is now good at 10 watts vs 5 and etc.
Keep in mind the note 10 has a much brughter and higher quality OLED panel as they do have the best displays in the world 90HZ aside.
In terms of 90HZ, it's still not supported in 99% of apps and 99% of games, and will automatically turn itself off even during scrolling in your browser like chrome, a lot of users don't even notice. It depends if you like it that much, and wether that's a gamble you're looking to take.
The op 7 pro has had a ton of software issues, might be due to R&D but I'm not sure, I think most are fixed by now though.

First of all, I appreciate the answers, fellas. I've been in the Samsung ecosystem for so long, its become a crutch when thinking of buying something else. That said, this worries me if accurate. Maybe I've been spoiled by Samsung and all their bells and whistles, but I really was looking forward to the 90hz screen. Though ever since Samsung began locking down all their phones, quick updates like on the OP7 are really appealing. I almost feel like I'll end up flipping a coin

This isnt true, i feel his comment is from someone not owning the device.
I use latest OOS 9.5.11 with twrp, magisk, forced 90hz script and renovate ice magisk mod.
And i can tell you, in every app i use its on 90hz, some games Are locked at 30fps but its not that many but thats not OPs fault, its the games fault. Many games that run 30fps Will run at 60+ when you have the forced 90hz command and the phone feels blazing fast in Chrome, Twitter, Facebook, Reddit, using the phone in general!
I had the S9+ before i changed to OP 7 Pro, and this is the best phone ive ever had! And ive had alot og phones! P30 Pro, iPhone X, S9+ and more, and none og these can Even touch the op7 pro in software and speed.
This is my 2cents, if im changing phones again itll be either a pixel 5xl or OP 8 Pro ?

Get the OP7. OOS is so much better than the Samsung interface. And if there is something about the OOS interface you don't like, mod it!
You have so much more choice and so much more freedom if you go for the OP7 Pro.

Exactly this. Loyal Samsung users have this weird... Lack of a better word, hatred for OnePlus & I never understood it.
I own the Note 9 and the OP7 Pro and the Note is sitting on my desk. yes, the Note 9 has a better, brighter screen in the daylight and has AOD and a 'slightly' better camera IMO. I never used my S pen so thats useless feature to me. never used Samsung Pay either. I like the direction One UI is going though. But using the latest OP7 Pro open Beta based on Android 10, I absolutely love the phone. the screen to me just seems better with everything. I'm not talking the 90hz, I'm talking looking at it. Somethign about the OP screen just is sexier to me. Plus the screen is much smoother, not bloated, and better experience to me. And the battery life destroys the Note hands down. Like, seriously.
Just go to your local Sprint or T-Mobile store when you have time, and play with the device. Go through the software, play a few games on it, turn the refresh rate to 60 then 90 a few times, use the cameras, etc. Please don't buy the device just based off our opinions, buy it because of what you think of it. You have no idea how many times I've had buyers remorse due to the hype of a new phone (S10 as a perfect example). Good thing I have Jump on Demand which let's me upgrade 12 times a year or every 30 days, which helps a lot when I pull the trigger too fast. Plus the OnePlus 7 Pro has liquid cooling as well, I don't know if that means anything to you, but to me, that's pretty damn cool seeing how only the S10+ had it and the S10 didn't. Plus $700 VS $900, the only place I'm seeing a $200 difference is very slight screen quality, and lack of camera quality, but then again that's because OnePlus seems to take more natural looking pictures. What made me jump from the S10 to the 7 Pro was because the 7 Pro had basically everything the S10 did, but it was cheaper, and you could mod it.
90hz screen is cool but not a deal breaker going back to different devices. Used my op7 pro for a few weeks and had to use note 9 and lg v30 while finding a dual SIM version.
This is the first OnePlus device I'm going to keep longer than a month. Could never get use to the 1080p display coming from good quality qhd devices. And no this display doesn't come close to Samsung's flagships but it gets the job done.
Pro and a con is that it's stock Android. It's boring but clean and consistently fast. currently playing with Android 10. Nice not waiting forever on the oem's to update.
I came from Samsung's since s2. 1st op I owned is the 7 pro and it's badass. Serving a kernel or rom on this is tremendously easier vs s9 note 9/10 and oc is easier Samsung I had to do a lot to get oc on the S7 s9 .
Been there (Samsung) done that. I have not looked back after getting the OnePlus 7 Pro! Cheers
I've been a Samsung user since the S5. My last Samsung was the S8+. All have been the Exynos variant because it used to beat Snapdragon performance-wise. Then Snapdragon started to beat Exynos but has a locked bootloader. That's what made me switch to OnePlus 7 Pro. I love that it's so easy to unlock bootloader and root. Like it's MY phone and I can do with it whatever I want. I also have the forced 90hz script like people mention here and I haven't seen any apps revert it back to 60hz aside from some games. I get a lot of compliments on the screen and the color (Nebula blue). OOS is fast. The battery life is amazing for me. I'm very happy with the switch. I also really like the stock screen protector it comes with. Still in great shape and it feels great.

I've been on all Samsung's haha and by far this phone hasn't made me look back , mainly cuz I hate the notches and hole punches on screens , only thing I really miss is being able to copy text from pictures with the spen other than that I I'm not going back to Sammy till they get a not hole punch screen , last two phones where note 9 and s10+

This was my thought exactly, when I read the top poster's concern about the screen on the 7 Pro versus a Sammy device.

That's why I decided to sell my Oneplus 7 Pro and went to a Samsung S10+

Got the OnePlus 8 Pro and coming from this turd of a device it is a refreshing change.
The smoothness and higher refresh rate is staggeringly superior.
Wish that Huawei would have left the bootloader alone, the p10 Pro was going places.
Now it's pretty much dead, shame.
Hopefully see some of you in the OnePlus 8 Pro forum, highly recommend the phone, is flawless.
I switched from MI 9t to P20 pro and I really regret it

Ohhh I feel you, that's like me swapping out my OnePlus 5 for the Pro. I got the phone and tried why I got it (camera) then after the novelty of that wore off and development on XDA died, I realised that it is a dog turd.
So much potential, literally killed with several bad decisions.
I wouldn't change my P20 Pro for the world (well perhaps for the Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro). Its easily the best phone I've ever owned. I honestly cannot fault it for anything other than the lack of development.

How is battery life of OP8 Pro compared with the P20 Pro? You get almost same SOT?
And for the camera quality?

Sorry mate, each to their own but honestly, I dropped the ball when I got a Huawei, against my better judgement, I'm much happier now that I have the performance I need and the freedom that android deserves.

Well it's only day one but so far it's been pretty good.
I managed to get 14 hours 45 minutes on my OnePlus 5, usually averaged around 10 hours.
My average on the P20 Pro was a little less at about 7-9 hours
Soon as I get a ballpark I'll respond.
So far it's looking good, I think a minimum of 7, better in mind I've got 120hz on constantly.
Camera is phenomenal and that's compared to the P20 Pro. It's a huge leap forward, 4k 60fps is brilliant, the OIS stability is vastly improved and the super macro I love. I'm yet to find a fault with the phone besides one thing which I'm getting used to and that's the waterfall screen, I sometimes touch it by accident but I think that's habit of having edges on my Huawei.
Free wireless bullets 2 came with the phone and a case in the box which will do for now.
12GB RAM and 256GB storage, just a crazy phone mate.

Weird thing about me with huawei, I usually get 1-2 phones each year, this time is the first time I've stuck it out with one phone for two years.
So yea I was really say the end of my tether.

My wife still has hers and she loves it. Much simpler needs though.
She has had an envious look at my OnePlus though and is now I'm guessing feeling like hers is in need of a refresh
Root already achieved btw and twrp. Not complete but it's very early. I think it'll be hugely popular, going to try to get some of my old Devs to jump in.
People started reporting the green screen problem in low brightness with OP8 Pro. Did you experience anything like this?

Nope, also heard something similar on every single thread is every single phone one ever owned. You need to be extremely unlucky for this to happen to you. On any of the aforementioned phones. (list in my sig)

I'm sorry, but I don't see all of this. My phone runs just fine. I don't find the software bloated. I've never had to use customer service. I don't see any perceptible lack of performance. Sure, software updates are slow to arrive, but this is the same with the vast majority of manufacturers. And how many of them still support devices over 2 years old?
As I previously said, the lack of development, due mainly to Huawei's intransigence over bootloader unlocking, is the only real issue I have with it.

Lol I didn't want to do this (get pulled into a silly back and forth) especially seeing as what I said is correct.
Bloat:
The ROM download is 4.7GB in size? In what way is that not bloated dude? What the hell Is it?
Customer service:
OnePlus, called to RMA, phone sent and back in 3 days, for free, I asked Huawei for MY information, all correspondence, GDPR , this is my information, that was seven months ago, I'm still waiting, they won't send me anything.
Performance?:
Oh dear where to start, install lawn chair launcher, add the Google feed (on the left) it lags when opening it, a OnePlus 5 doesn't lag when you do that? A OnePlus 3, 2 maybe even a 1!!
Dolphin emulator lags, unplayable in most instances, psp, modern combat, normal games like cod, or just 3D games in general have sub standard performance compared to any of the phones out at the same time as the Pro, unless it's a Huawei / honor / Samsung (EU) device, the problem is mainly the awful Mali but the CPU isn't great either, plus it heats up a lot too.
Software updates:
OnePlus - one variation
Huawei - I can even answer this, how many different variants and regions are there for Huawei? L09 L29 c432 c783 A100 ?? I have no idea, it's just a stupid avoidable mess, how long have people been waiting for Android 10? How many people managed to get the beta? Lol it's shocking, OHHH and yes some of the updates relock the damn bootloader, some of the services (funky) completely broke the ability to unlock the bootloader? It's a disgusting, avoidable sh*tshow.
Let me tell you something about software updates, a phone with a healthy after market development community will not need updates after two years, they will continue to get tweaked, optimized, newer modded ROMs released, look at the HD2, I think it's still being developed now. Huawei will never have that, ever, or is a dead platform on XDA.
Lastly :
I'm not bashing your here, I know people who bought this device did so in good faith, I'm one of them, and bitterness is rife as well as a bias for your device but you can't stand by what you said pal, it's just BS, get any Snapdragon device and you'll see what I mean. My only hope for the Huawei community is that they never buy another Huawei ever again, Huawei teamed up with XDA and became popular, created a following and then just pulled the rug out from everyone's feet. I hope they go down the route HTC did, the former surely deserve it.

I couldn't afford the 8 Pro so actually went for a reduced 7T. Saved me a few hundred and still way better than the 20 Pro experience.

Honestly, if the 8 didn't come to carriers in the UK I was thinking of doing the same mate. Totally get your choice.
Lot of similarities and you've got that high refresh rate too.
With you on the sh*t show that has been Huawei. Remember the days when you could actually unlock the bootloader and we clung on to some hope that there'd be light at the end of the tunnel but they quickly stopped that. I had to send my back for a repair after it hard bricked and they sent it back bootloader locked
I couldn't warrant the extra £200 for the OP8 Pro so got the standard OP8. I'm seeing that Pro forum is already more active with some ROM's that I hope will quickly filter down to its little brother and the hardware is not much different.
So yeah, 2 years of the P20 done & dusted, phone sold, only regret I have is putting up with it for so long.
