Thanks for the information. Believe it or not my H990DS's wifi hotspot didn't work even though it's unlocked and sold internationally. It wasn't the end of the world but it always irked me that it didn't work. This worked a charm.

You are welcome my friend.

I followed all the steps and everything went well but I get the message "Authentication was unsuccessful. To enable mobile hotspot on this device, go to att.com/mywireless or dial 611". I'm on Oreo H91020G June 1, 2018

Checking firmware rev without activation

Is there a way to check if a new phone is pre-RC30 without activating it?
I'm looking to buy an unlocked G1 on ebay and would like the seller to verify the firmware revision before shipping.
1. Get adb.exe from the SDK or adbwin.zip and unzip the contents.
2. Plug G1 into computer via usb and turn it on.
3. Touch the android on screen when prompted.
4. Open command prompt on computer and navigate to the directory adb.exe is in.
5. Type in the command prompt adb shell getprop ro.build.fingerprint. The fingerprint will have the software version in it.
1. Have the seller power on the handset
2. After the startup screen finishes and it gets to the "no sim card" point, have them type "reboot"(enter). If the phone blanks its screen and restarts, it's <RC30.
This worked for me when quicly testing in a tmobile store.
-sparkle [I have an extra <RC30 handset that may be for sale]

You can only access APN Setting without activation. Sadly.

[Guide] Enable mobile data\WiFi to login to gmail account after getting locked out

Okay, So just today my girlfriends room mate at uni decided it would be funny to lock her out of her Galaxy S II
I Tried every available method to me to try and get it unlocked but it wouldn't work.
After some time of scratching my head at this, I found the answer
These are the steps you have to follow in order to make this work
1.Make sure USB Debugging is on [Sorry to those of you who haven't got it turned on :\]
2. Make a folder called adb anywhere you like and place the files in the zip called adb (needs to be extracted) you can use WinRAR, 7zip
etc) attached to the bottom of this post.
3. Attach your phone to your PC and make sure all drivers are installed
4. Open up a command window (this can be done by pressing the start button on your keyboard and r together, then typing cmd) and navigate to the adb folder you created. The command : cd C;\Users\%userprofile%\%yourdirectory%\adb (replace userprofile with your username and yourdirectory with the directory you chose to place adb, don't forget to remove %!!)
5.Now type this command exactly and when done hit enter: adb pull /data/data/com.android.providers.settings/databases/settings.db
6.Don't close Command, but go to the folder where you extracted adb, there should be a new file there called settings.db
7. What I did was transferred the file to my Galaxy S3, and I used an SQlite editor
8.Using an SQlite Editior, go to the tab that says files and scroll down to your sdcard or external sdcard wherever you put it, open the settings.db.
9. There are 6 Options; android_metadata, bluetooth_devices, bookmarks, secure, sqlite_sequence, system. Go to the option that says secure and navigate down to mobile_data or wifi_on.
10. These options either have a 1 or a 0 under the value column, 0 for being off, 1 for being on. Let's assume both are 0. Now if you don't have mobile data, leave this at 0, if you do have it change it to 1, the same with wifi change it to one and you should save the changes you make when you exit.
11. Plug the device back to your computer and copy the new settings.db to the adb folder and overwrite any existing files.
12. Use the command and once done hit enter: adb push ./"settings.db" /data/data/com.android.providers.settings/databases
You should get an immediate response if not just reboot and then your data or wifi should be on and you are able to login to your gmail without a problem
Hope this helps anyone who gets stuck like this

Bricked H995 question

Hello guys! I did fail today. I wanted to install flex mods v4 from this forum, so i did clean install by LG Mobile Support Tool to unroot it, then factory reset, then root. Afterwards i've installed flashfire, i did normal backup which is on my phone... then flashed Xposed without problems and went for h955 v4 mods... everything was going fine i guess and then suddenly authentication fail #9 came in. My phone boots into download, tried to restore it by LG Mobile Support tool and it did recognise it, but stopped at 9%. Anyone has v15c kdz to flash? Or can i use normal backup/rootedsystem.img which should still be on the phone?
You will find and need LG_Root.zip and all necessary infos in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/g-flex2/development/lg-g-flex-2-ls996-zv6-sprint-5-1-1-t3169212
Or download LG_Root.zip from here: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24052804347788843
and do this steps:
6. Power off your device, When the device is powered off, hold volume up and insert a USB cable connected to the PC Wait for the drivers to install
7. go to the LG_Root folder (the one you downloaded) Double click ports.bat (This will give us the COM port in which our device is connected we are looking for the Diag port)
8. In the root of LG_Root folder start a command promp (Inside of LG_Root folder hold shift and right click a blank space you should see "Open command window here")
9. In the command window type the command "Send_Command.exe \\.\COM4" (no quotes)......(NOTE: change"4" to ur diag port number from step 8.
10. Type "id" and press enter (no quotes). You should get back some text starting with "uid=(0)root gid=(0)root". If not, press CTRL-C, and do step 10 again (the application sometimes doesn't respond on the first command).
11. Run the command specified for ur varient in the section below titled to flash the rooted system image.
12. After a few minutes of sitting, you should get back a "#" prompt. This indicates the process has finished.
13. Type "LEAVE" (no quotes) and press enter. Your phone should reboot, and your phone will be rooted.
Command for Step 11:
dd if=/data/media/0/rootedsystem.img bs=8192 seek=53248 count=458752 of=/dev/block/mmcblk0
Click to collapse
It acts like there isn't rootedsystem.img on storage. After entering step 11 "#" shows immediately. I can't access recovery mode neither. After typing LEAVE it shows android logo with "deleting/removing" text in my language for a just second, then it restart to authentication fail again, it has happend before too. IDK if something could remove my storage but neither LGMobile or LGUP didn't go higher than 9% progress. I've also did flashfire normal backup before doing everything and it should be on the phone too, could i try to use it?
Can i do anything before sending it to LG?

For those that received a "free" mobile data tablet and don't know what else to use it for - you can activate and use the mobile hotspot (if you have unlimited data) without having to be subscribed to it (we know how those youtube videos can eat through that data)...
paul2112 said:
Here it goes (no root required):
1. Enable developer mode:
a. Go to settings
b. Scroll down to about phone
c. Repeatedly tap "Build number" until developer access is granted
2. Get ADB installed w/ drivers
a. https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2588979
3. Enable USB Debugging
a. Go to settings
b. Go down to developer options
c. Scroll down to USB Debugging and turn it on
d. Connect phone with USB to PC
4. Get into ADB shell
a. Open a command prompt (windows key + R , type "cmd" in the box and press enter is my favorite way)
b. Run:
Code:
adb shell
5. Enable the bypass
a. Disable the DUN requirement
Code:
settings put global tether_dun_required 0
b. Overwrite the DUN APN (THIS IS DIFFERENT FROM ORIGINAL POST FROM PAUL1212 AND TAKEN FROM clndwhr's POST)
Code:
settings put global tether_dun_apn ",,x.ispsn,,,,,,,,,310,120,,dun"
6. Turn off Mobile Data
7. Turn on HotSpot
8. Turn on Mobile Data (The order is important for DNS to work properly)

Works for me for now... it's nice especially for those who were given a "free" mobile data tablet that they don't know what to do with...
edit: wrong thread lol

Root Ulefone Armor 12

It is same as root Armor 10.
The usual disclaimers apply; Do this at your own risk, I'm not responsible if you brick or damage your device, or void your warranty, etc. I'm also going to condense the instructions a bit, on the assumption anyone who's serious about rooting already knows the basics.
How do it.
1. You must download original ROM, you need boot.img from this ROM. And download ADB to your PC.
2. Copy boot.img from ROM to your phone (or differnd android phone).
3. Donload and open the Magisk app.
4. Next, tick "Install"-"Install Magisk".-'Select and patch a file." Select the 'boot.img" file you transferred to the phone's local storage Magisk will write a root-patched copy, named "magisk_patched_xxxxx.img," to donwload directory.
5. Copy patched file to PC.
6. On phone enable developer option (Go to "Settings", then tap "About device" or "About phone". 2 Scroll down, then tap "Build number" 7x ).
7. On developer menu click "Unlock Bootloader" and activation USB debug.
8. Transfer the patched image file to the ADB tools directory on your PC.
9. Connect phone to PC and Open a command prompt window, on your PC, in the directory your ADB tools are installed(or go to this direction by cd.. and cd command).
10. Reboot the phone to via ADB "adb reboot bootloader" to fastboot mode.
11. Type "fastboot devices" to make sure the system sees your phone.
12. Type "fastboot flashing unlock" and uce button on phone to do it . YOUR PHONE DELETE ALL USER DATA
13. Reboot phone again to fastbootmode and type: "fastboot flash vbmeta vbmeta_null.img" and hit enter.
14. Next, type "fastboot flash boot magisk_patched_xxxxx.img" (naturally, replace the X's with whatever string of characters Magisk supplied or change name).
15. Type 'fastboot reboot' and hit enter.
Your Armor 12 should now be rooted. Enjoy!
I use vbmeta_null (for ulefone armor 10) from this : https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/systemless-root-on-ulefone-armor-10-5g-how-i-did-it.4243161/
In official ROM missing good batery statistic - I use GSam Battery Monitor. Its possible configure to acces by adb or use in root phone. Now I see time to charge and time to off .
Next step for me Is change power off menu or remaping power buton to google assistant.
