Hi.
I had replaced my screen as it was broken, with this new one on eBay: https://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/For-Sony-X...903338?hash=item3fa6e40e2a:g:eRcAAOSwOD9bYYlh
Anyway, everything is working apart from the proximity sensor. When I make a call the screen stays black, and to hang up I have to hold power and volume to restart my phone. Could it be the screen that's causing this?
Is there anything I could do to fix it?
Many thanks

U probably didnt glue it well in the right upper corner where the sensor is...When u get a call or make one try presing it with ur fingers where the sensor is and see if it starts to work again. After presing it if it does work then u didnt glue it well so u can do that by heating the left upper corner with a hair dryer for 2-3 minutes and then try to squeeze it a little bit and hold it for 5 minutes(use owen gloves or a towel cuz it will be hot to touch )...This way ull reheat the glue and the screen will seat back to the frame...I did that to my friends z5 and it works. If that doesnt help u then probably ur sensor is faulty.Hope it helped u.

I need someone to be able to heat up a HTC HD2 touchscreen to see if the problem with touchscreens not working is the two layers of glass are splitting and heating and pressing will help or destroy.
The other problem with them is when you press the end button the touchscreen goes out but later responds like normal.
I probably need a electric oven to do this evenly
Thanks
use a hair dryer

i am having the same problem with my HD2.. For the past few weeks, after pressing the end button the touch screen stopped responding for a few hours...
Since yesterday, the touch screen has stopped responding all together... i did a hard reset, soft reset... nothing works..
i saw that you were having the same problem in another thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/archive/index.php/t-603418.html
Have you found a solution to this problem. thanks in advance.
I am having a weird problem. I am on stock ATT with root. If i am talking to someone using my phone....if i put it on speaker and screen goes off...I cannot make the screen on back again. If i click power button the phone gets disconnected. its really irritating bug.
Also if i am using GPS while driving and If i get a call....after attending the call and I am not able to go back to navigation app. it shows me black screen.
These two things are annoying me like hell. Any help is appreciated...
maybe set display to never sleep? esp. while driving? will drain the battery faster, but in the car presumably you would have a charger available...
Are you using a screen protector or case thats covering the proximity sensor? Its one of the little spots in the upper left corner. Where most protectors have a cut out. Anyways, thats there to shut the screen off on the phone when you are on it so you dont accidentally hit any buttons. If its covered it wont allow you to turn the display on because it thinks its next to your face. Either that or maybe your sensor is bad.
So, a few days ago i received my xperia arc s housing in the mail from ebay, So the next thing i do is replace the housing and put it back together, Its all working but i notice the back button not working, open the phone up again and mess around a bit while the battery was still in the phone, but then the screen stopped working, and i just put it back together cause i couldn't do anything about it. The touch screen works but it doesn't not display anything, i can start up the phone and unlock the screen and feel the vibrations but the display is really dim, like if i take a flashlight and put it over the screen, i can see everything but when i take the flashlight away i cant see anything, The LEDs near in the home buttons are not working either. What some one did suggest is that the chip that controls the LED's are at fault and damaged. Any other suggestions would be highly appreciated.
Thank You
When I make a call. The screen goes off instantly and I can't turn the screen back on right away. i have to press power button several times to turn the screen on. When I'm nit in call, I have ni problem. May be something is wrong with my proximity sensor? Or it is a software probelm? Anyone else having the same problem?

Is your hand anywhere near the top of the phone? there is a proximity sensor that shuts the screen off if it thinks a face is near it (or a hand confused with a face)

Not really.
The sensor is covered by the screen protector. Could that be the reason?
When I try to pull down the notification bar on the right the screen goes black. Also turns off the always on display. I'm assuming it's something with the Proximity sensor. Tired of all the little bugs and problems with this phone. I’m returning it. Just curious if anybody else is having this problem.

No, mine isn't doing that. You might have a dud.

I've had that happen on my Pixel 2 XL. Only once or twice and restart fixed it every time.
It's definitely the prox sensor. Always On Display shuts off when the phone is in your pocket or face down, which is detected by the proximity sensor, so that's totally normal. As far as it happening on the home screen, it seems like the phone thinks you're in a call, which would use the proximity sensor to turn the screen off near your head. I would reboot as @jimv1983 suggested and see if that works.
Are you using a screen protector? Sometimes those can cause issues with the proximity sensor, but usually it just causes the screen to shut off and not come back on during a call as it senses the protector at all times instead of your face.

I had a case with a built-in screen protector on it and I thought that might be what was causing it but after taking it off it still did it. Weird thing though once I put it on the wireless charger it stop doing it. Hasn’t done it all day even with case on. Weird. Still thinking about taking it back to Best Buy and swapping it out.
I've had a similar issue where the proximity sensor will not deactivate as long as a call is going (can't hangup, can't unlock, can't speaker phone, can't mute, etc.). I have to wait for the other person to hang up. Get an automated robo-call you accidentally answered....oh well, guess you have to listen to them. I have never been so angry at a phone as I am with this one. Especially as expensive as it is. I absolutely would NOT have bought this phone if I knew ahead of time how aggravating this would be! Thinking of sending it back. BUYERS BEWARE!

Had this very issue with my pixel XL and blowing on the top speaker grille of dust with compressed air solved it.
But if this is out of the box that sucks. It should not be like that. My pixel was approaching two years when that happened.
