[Q] Who has a oven for Electronic parts? (touchscreen) - General Questions and Answers

I need someone to be able to heat up a HTC HD2 touchscreen to see if the problem with touchscreens not working is the two layers of glass are splitting and heating and pressing will help or destroy.
The other problem with them is when you press the end button the touchscreen goes out but later responds like normal.
I probably need a electric oven to do this evenly
Thanks

i am having the same problem with my HD2.. For the past few weeks, after pressing the end button the touch screen stopped responding for a few hours...
Since yesterday, the touch screen has stopped responding all together... i did a hard reset, soft reset... nothing works..
i saw that you were having the same problem in another thread

Align screen, endless loop

Hi all,
Yesterday evening the screen on my TP was misaligned all of a sudden. This has happened before, I don't know why but I know how to fix it or so I thought.
Open the start menu and find the screen alignment tool in the system settings did the trick until now.
I can align the screen all I want but it just keeps asking me to align. I've tried soft reset, hard reset, leaving the battery out for a night and aligning over 50 times but it keeps me in the alignment screen.
What happened? The screen obviously functions as it detects the taps.
Patrick
BTW. I run RomeOS 1.40.1 (Dutch) en flashed the stock rom to test if that fixes the issue but that has the same problem.
Align screen loops again when you don't tap properly on the cross. Obviously you're taping properly but maybe the screen could not percieve it properly. Did you ever drop your baby?

Carty..

Uhm, I never dropped any of my babies but my TP has dropped once or twice but that is weeks ago and the fall wasn't that great, the hit wasn't that hard and it functioned normal after the drop which was in the grass btw.
I'm sorry to hear your troubling situation. I had a similar situation happen once with my hermes, turns out that the outer rim of the housing was coming in contact with the screen and registering as a contact. I was in the endless alignment until I opened up my phone and closed it again. I had other reasons to open like the speaker cable had also came disconnected. Try running something thin and lint free around the edges of where the housing and screen meet. If that doesnt work I would just return it while its still under warranty.

[Q] Touchscreen help.

The touchscreen on the Defy seems a little over sensible .. i can press keys without actually touching the screen (same goes for the touch panel buttons)
Can anyone help me find a way to calibrate it ? I get a lot of accidental button touches.

You might get flame posting on wrong section.
But, capacitive touch screen doesn't require calibrate.
Your body / Phone build up statics..
For your part, wash your hand often or touch anything grounded.
For your phone, you could try wipe it w/ wet towel.
Why get flamed ? i wanted a software fix not hardware, i keep both my hands and the phone clean all day. And i know it can be fixed because i had the same problem on a iphone android port... In iOS the touchscreen was fine but in android i could get it activated even 3mm off of screen so it's definetly the way the software uses the screen.

capacitive buttons faulty

I have had this problem for awhile , My capacitive buttons have stopped working.
I remember dropping the phone from a short height but the phone has no physical damage , it had no problems for along time and then suddenly one day they stopped working fully.
Im on the latest Android Revolution HD Rom and have tried a reinstall.
I have also opened the phone up to look for any sign of internal damage but nothing.
The touch screen itself works great the home botton works sometimes if u get it in the right spot but other then that nothing.
Anybody got any ideas? New Digitizer?
Would like any help.
Cheers
Greg
Hard to think nobody has had this problem.
Bump bump bump , great song that one

Power button epilepsy o_o

Heya, i know this has info here and there but here's the deal:
The power button has gone soft lately, it was good but then it became really sensitive to touch "one touch to activate" which was cool, until it started pressing by itself, now when i click it to lock the screen it turns on again, and if i shake the phone or something it'll activate.
But now it goes on and off randomly, and sending me sometimes to the power screen i can even activate it by pressing against the body around the front camera.
any ideas what might be causing it (my guess it's a broken/displaced spring), and please if you have links/guides to fix the thing (teardown vids/whatever) i'll be most thankful ^^
i looked around but i want something specific to our device, thanks! <3

Hardware problem mate. Will need repair. Read about this sometime ago where a user had actually taken the DS apart and fixed a broken plastic lever under the power button that does it... but since the power button presses a switch directly mounted on the motherboard beneath, i'd suggest you refrain from doing this yourself unless you are fairly good with tinkering with electronic innards. I mean software is one thing to mess around with, but hardware has very hairy balls indeed!
P.S. Love the thread title!!

Problem with the backlight

Hi! Two days ago, my phone dropped in water , i put them immediately in rice until today. When start it with the power button, i felt the vibration and i hear the open sound. But the screen remains black... but i discover that it was just the backlight because when i watch the screen under a lamp i can see the interface and slide between pages... but its very dark. Is it possible to change this backlight? or just wait few other days to allow time to dry fully. I welcome your suggestions! thanks

When there's water involved, IT's hard to know exactly what damaged. Could be just stain on the ribbon connectors, a burned fuse/diode/resistor (all of them micro sized) etc.. or just the LCD's backlight damaged entirely.
Keep it on rice for more time. I would make the battery to discharge to 0%, But it's also more recommended to keep the phone OFF. Only my friend LUCK knows.
To change the backlight, the whole screen needs to be changed.
Backlight died on me. Possible moisture.
First, it was on boot loop (on stock rom)
i went to restart it (holding power button and volume down)
then the screen turned bright white, restarted it and then the backlight died, dismantled the phone, now still in rice, also happened on 2nd April.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Took it apart down to the Screen (not the screen layers), left it in rice, works like a brand new now. Cheers.
I just replace all the frame and lcd for a new on my nexus 5, but the problem was still there... no backlight, i can see a little bit the screen, but it's very dark... do you have any idea for try to repair this, because now i don't think that it's the screen but more a motherboard or power problem for the backlight :S
exactly same problem here
nexus 5 phone dropped in water.
Backlight went out permanently - rice didn´t help.
Can see the display working using a flashlight - so rest of the phone seems to be working ok.
Just pruchased a new screen, put it all in and still the same problem: display works, touch works, backlight is off.
So it seems the backlight part of the display receives no power - anybody has an idea how to fix that?
thanks
I have answer to this!
I have had this problem like 3 months now and i finally fixed it.
Basically what i did was that i bought a broken nexus 5 (only the screen glass was broken) and tried to swap every part one by one. The one that was not working was the main dock!
It is a cheap fix, like 10£ on Ebay.
I am writing this post because anyone else haven't.
I hope that someone sees this.
I now copy this message to all other threads so people can fix their nexus 5's
PS:as you can probably tell English isn't my first language.
Hello! I am having the same problem. The cell phone fell to the floor and the next day the problem began. The display is not broken.
What are you taking about when you say "main dock"? Motherboard aka mainboard?
Thanks!
