Nexus 5 Doesn't Boot - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello all,
I am having some trouble with my Google Nexus 5 (rooted with custom recovery). I hadn't updated Android myself, but I suddenly found the phone stuck in the following cycle: the phone rebooted, and then the screen said "Android is upgrading... Starting Apps", and it says "Unfortunately, the process ___ has stopped" (different processes), and it then takes me to a Welcome screen and asks me to select a language. When I select English, the same cycle repeats, starting with the Google logo and then the colored dots (which take a while).
I have tried wiping cache, and then I get a screen that says "Root access possibly lost. Fix? - No -Yes Fix Root - Go Back". I selected Yes, but I am still having the same problem.
I have attached photos of the screens that I get. Any help would be greatly appreciated (bearing in mind that I am not as tech savvy as I probably should be)!
Thank you

You may have to perform a wipe of the data and cache before the phone will fully boot.

I tried wiping the data, and I also tried reflashing the ROM, but I get an error: "FAILED (remote: flash write failure)" (screenshot attached).
What could the issue be? And is there any way to fix it?

Seems like a nand flash issue. You better find a new motherboard or just sell it.

[Q] recovery stuck af formating /data, odin stuck at userdata.img

Hi
After recieving an OTA, my phone got stuck in recovery. However all it seems to do in recovery is "formating data. And if i try to reflash an entire rom in odin it stalls at userdata.img.
Also if i try fastboot erase userdata it stalls (nothing happens for a very long time).
I sucpect my internal memory may be fried, but before i take it to service i was wondering if anyone knows if it's possible to repartition the entire internal memory system, as a last resort...?

I have exactly the same issue with you. This post is quite old. Have you found the way to fix it?

I keep getting an error that says: "Unfortunately, the process android.process.acore has stopped."
It pops up every 5-10 seconds after hitting okay.

Anyone care to post a fix?
Before anybody flames you...
It's not normal for that error message to pop up. You'll likely need to wipe data/factory reset. Also, if you use Titanium Backup, don't restore any system data.

Because it's one of those questions that could easily be solved by reading and searching and there's not really an easy fix for that type of issue beyond a factory reset.

Reset seems to have fixed it, thanks god for Google syncing.

Unable to Root - Won't Boot into Recovery

I've tried everything at this point with no success. I've followed the instructions here to a T, but when I put in "reboot recovery" the phone reboots just not into recovery. I'm at a complete loss. The easy recowvery method gives me a "you seem to be missing one or more files in the exploit directory" error despite the fact that I am not in fact missing any files in the exploit directory. I'm just at a complete loss at this point and would appreciate some help. Thank You!

How many times did you try it?
And did you try the Hard Recowvery method as well?
Sorry for being unclear in the OP - I tried both methods. The pic is actually what I get with the Hard Recowvery method. Everything looks fine but the phone reboots normally instead of into recovery when I put in the "reboot recovery" command. I must have tried easy Recowvery upwards of 20 times.
So I got the easy recowvery to run (got past the "you seem to be missing one or more files in the exploit directory" error). Everything looked like it was going well..... and the phone didn't boot into recovery. It started booting, the LG logo appeared, the screen went black for a second, and the phone rebooted again - back to the homescreen.
Problem solved. Used the LG G5 specific Recowvery from this thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-lg-g5/how-to/guide-root-twrp-lg-g5-using-t3580264

PX5 - "Your data may be corrupt...". What's wrong? Help me :)

Hi! I have MTCD with PX5, Android 8.0, 4gb + 32gb. It stopped working overnight. When i turn it on, the recovery appears with a caption: Can't load Android system. Your data may be corrupt. If you continue to get this message, you may need to perform a factory data reset and erase all user data stored on this device.
Try again
Factory data reset.
Reset Button not working so i plugged keyboard OTG and after select "try again" the same appears, factory data reset not working: "failed to mount bla bla.. - i'll add photo on attachment.
What's wrong? How to do the factory reset? May be i should replace PX5 Core Board or I should make USB JIG from one of the threads on xda?
I don't know, help me, I'll be very grateful! Sorry for my BAD english :/

I've also experienced this quite often after upgrading my devices from Android 6 to Android 8. Sometimes it happens once a day. Nine times out of 10, selecting "Try Again" causes the device to reboot and come up normally.
I assume this might be related to Magisk since I never used it prior to Android 8, but haven't been able to confirm.

Blackview BV5800 MT6739 Oreo 8.1 FRP problem from ebay

Hi This is my first post here. I have done some searching and reading but I still have a problem.
I bought this phone off ebay with a broken screen as a project. I managed to replace the screen and got it working (first time doing this for me) but the phone has a pin and google lock that I didn't consider.
The seller isn't replying to my question of what is the pin.
I checked the IMEI numbers on IMEI24.com and it's not showing as stolen. I have attempted common pins with no luck.
I have done a factory reset to wipe the data. I have tried to flash the phone from the SD card but it's not working (see photo)

I've tried 2 different firmwares but same error each time.
The phone shows up in windows as attached to the PC but won't show any files and doesn't show up for 4uKey for Android. I've attempted to use adb but it won't connect to the phone either using CMD in admin mode.
I'm not a coder and I'm not that good with command prompt software.
Have I got any chance with this or do I just give it up as a bad job?
It seems a shame to junk a now working phone. But I know now not to buy a broken screened phone again!

I'm going to give it up as a bad job and break it for parts. The battery is good at least and there's a chance that I can salvage the screen as well as being good practice for repairs.
If the board is locked is it any good to anyone?
