On current firmware: 9.5.20.0 and previous firmware I have spontaneous reboots every +/- 5 days,
so not really bad, but still ideally this should not happen.
Anyone any clue what the cause could be ? And possible fixes ?
around 5 weeks, no reboots here...
Same here, but worse: happens more than once per day. Could it be hardware issue? I'm thinking of doing a complete reset, and try it for a few days without installing any other app, just to test.

More than 6 weeks, tested global stock locked BL, unlocked BL, MIUI10 beta, MIUI10 xiaomi.eu... never experienced random reboots. I am sure of that since I have installed a widget (uptime widget) just to be sure that the phone does not reboot and I don't notice it.

Same here. No reboot. Now with miui 10 from Xiaomi.eu.
Can´t give you support. Another one with no problem regarding this whatsoever.
But it has to be real, since I saw this recognized by MIUI! Either they work on a fix or think to have it sorted out with 9.5.20.
Read/search change logs for more info on this.
Woke up this morning and the mix 2s did a spontaneous reboot again, however, was frozen in the "Android logo" (phone also very hot)
I rebooted and then everything was OK again. Uptime was 199 hours.
I googled a bit and it seems not a widespread issue, could not find any other forums where the problem is mentioned.
So maybe caused by a specific combination of settings / installed apps or something.
That sounds like a hardware issue, not software.
I have Mix2s since july. No reboots til yesterday, when I installed Xiaomi.Eu MIUI 10 stable. I'll try to clean flash everything.
I have random reboots too, its not often. Every week or so. Do you run dual sim?
MIUI 10 latest global stable 128GB variant
It happens everyday for me, couple of times a day, i don t understand why. It all started after miui 10 update. i tried going back to factory settings haven t solved the problem. I don t know what to do .

Same thing happening to me here too.
What I would do is start from scratch, install factory image, don't install any apps, use for a day to test, then install your apps one by one to find the culprit.
If still rebooting without any apps installed, it might be time for a rma

I used that Google support and came down to putting the phone I to safe mode for 24 hours to see but some days it does it a few times and other days it's fine

Has there been any resolution to this? My Pixel has been randomly rebooting, too. Already tried troubleshooting with Google tech support, tried Safe Mode (did it there, too), and factory reset and cache wipe.
It still happens. And when I say random, I mean random. Sometimes it reboots overnight, sometimes in my pocket, sometimes as I'm using the phone (it'll freeze in some cases too before it reboots). There's no obvious indication of what's causing it.
Has there been any light shed on this problem? Any clue as to whether it's software or hardware related?
Some days it doesn't, others it'll do it 5times. I've not had any luck fixing it which is annoying because it awesome except for that
Google aren't very helpful either, they refused to help because I got my phone through carphonewarehouse lol

Yeah, there really is no rhyme or reason to the way it reboots, making it even harder to diagnose.
Rebooted again while it was just sitting on my table. No rhyme or reason to this bug.
I've had my 5" Pixel since launch. Google Store device, 32GB, never unlocked the boot loader.
I had a few random reboots, but never actually saw it happen. I'd go to use my phone and see the pattern unlock screen you get on first use after restart.
I have not had it occur since the January OTA.

Same here. Sometimes I'll go to my phone wanting to use it, try my finger to unlock, and it'll prompt me to input my pattern because it's required after a reboot. Clearly, rebooting by itself.
It's frustrating because there's no rhyme or reason to it. Sometimes it'll happen multiple times a day, sometimes it won't happen for a couple of days.
At first, I thought the Jan update fixed it too because it didn't occur for a while after the update, but then it reared its ugly head again. I've already tested it in Safe Mode, did a factory reset, and the rebooting still persisted.
If you simply research this on the web, many others are having this issue. And it's even been reported a few times by Android sites/blogs. Google needs to get on top of this. At the very least, they should confirm it's a software issue and not a hardware issue.

Happens at random but only when I'm using Chrome or when my Pixel has been sitting on my nightstand charging.
I've had the phone since launch with no issues. My random reboots just started yesterday and it's happened 5 times in the past 12 hours. Glad I'm not the only one with the problem.

Going to try and get a replacement this is a joke, fully wiped and flashed and still does it

Mine hasn't really been "rebooting"... It's actually just been suddenly shutting completely off for no reason. It will be fine for a few days, then the next fee days it will simply abruptly shut off for no reason... Battery levels don't seem to make a difference.. Weird.
Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
For me it seems that the reason lies in Bluetooth or just in the BT stack. If I deactivate bluetooth it works fine through the day. But I need bluetooth so I started BT again and the Pixel XL 128GB crashes sometimes 10 Times a day, but as I checked BT was automaticly deactivated after these first reboots. I seemed. The Pixel stopped rebooting as I activated BT and deactivated it myself.
And now? How long do we have to wait. I don´t think it´s a hardware issue.
So, I have this issue but it became (very) apparent only after the OTA Oreo. First two weeks were fine (and subsequently first two weeks after a factory reset I've done), but then it slowly starts doing this after those 2 weeks. Freezes then reboots. At first it's 1-2 a day, now it's like 12-20. Ridiculous. There's a buganiser thread for this issue and Google is aware of it. Most of the bug reports have this in them:
Code:
Sense Key : Hardware Error [current]
which Google rep says is a hardware issue. I also have an access to a Google's internal buganiser thread on this issue (i'm a vendor) and they refer to this being a Toshiba's memory issue. Not sure though why this started happening only after the Oreo update. Also people who flash Nougat report no issues as well. Another funny thing is that there's at least two users with Pixel (XL) 2 who suffer from it. Anyway, I'll be giving it back to my carrier over the weekend (glad we have 2 year warrant here in UK) even though I'm pretty sure I'll get a refurb with a similar problem after two wasted weeks of wait.
Flash nougat rom and see does this problem occur or not? If not then us nougat for a while then again update to oreo
I have been facing this issue since yesterday. I am running OB7 with stock kernel. The phone's screen suddenly turns black and gives the lockscreen password screen as if the phone has rebooted and all the apps are killed.
Anybody has any solution or facing this?
Hey, actually using last OOS beta 7, facing the same issue since at least ytd.
Glad to see that i'm not alone
I have had that a couple times since the release of 9.0 and with 9.02 both Official, not OB. I try to reboot my phone every 2 or 3 days and sometimes I forget and it seems to happen if my phones up time is above 6 or 7 days.
I just wiped cache, will let u know if it worked or not
OnePlus 6 Rebooting Apps, Black Screen
My partner got her OnePlus 6 brand new one week ago, and just tonight it started experiencing the same problems as the OP described. According to her she updated to the latest OS software on day one, and it all worked as it should for the past six days until a couple of hours ago. It does that reboot-like thing about 8 times an hour right now. We're on the fence on if we should return it to the online retailer as we're on the last day. Reformatting to factory settings didn't fix anything. Hoping someone finds a solution.
Edit: It's a stock OnePlus 6 Mirror Black phone & operating system OOS 9.0.2, using common social networking apps. I just joined this forum and this is my first post.
Weird...
Actually, 0 reboot since the cache wiped

Hope that continues to work. As for us, we tried wiping the cache an hour ago. It didn't help in our situation. It's currently "rebooting" so much, it's unusable.

Had the same issue since yesterday
Only solution i found was to remove google and whatsapp from beta and to do a hard reset.
Reset solved my problem
Things i tried before reset-
1)Settings reset
2)clear cache
3)restart
Only solution was a reset without erasing internal.
Hope y'all come to the same result.
Still ni reboots since i wipe the cache, looks like it was enough for me... Hope it will
Hard resetting doesn't work in our case. As a last resort, I'm currently trying a OxygenOS ROM downgrade, or if I can't do that, upgrading to Open Beta 7. The latter of which I'm trying, but the phone restarts mid-update constantly. Not even safe mode stops the rebooting during the update.
Let us know if it worked,
Actually had 2 reboots since ystd cache wiped

We had to return the OnePlus 6 before today ended because of the small 7 day store warranty (living in the Philippines). After I couldn't even install the ROMs in Safe Mode because of restarts every minute now, there didn't seem to be anything I could do. Hoping the next OnePlus 6 we get in three weeks doesn't have this issue.
I've had such issues with OB8 & OB9, probably with OB7 as well - can't remember.
Wiped cached many times, changed kernel and so on.
Actually, OB8 was a fresh install as well.
UPDATE
I reverted back to 5.1.11 and then updated to 9.0.2, so far so good. I'll post updates in the next few days.
Got a new OP7 Pro. Nice hardware for sure. I unlocked boot loader, installed TWRP recovery, Magisk, but using standard factory ROM/kernel (OOS 9.5.8). I am experiencing severe screen freeze issues. It is like all touch inputs are ignored or screen is frozen for up to 10 seconds at a time. The phone is pretty well unusable as this gets in to a loop of unfreezing perhaps for a few seconds or a minute but then right back to frozen. Crazy...
Some times I can go an hour or so with out it happening but once it sets in it seems to recur frequently . Rebooting helps as does wiping dalvik/cache, but it always seems to come back. Does not appear to happen when booting to safe mode, which leads me to believe it is an incompatible app but the app would have to be doing some crazy stuff to screw up the entire phone/screen/touch input this much. Just can't find the trigger or a fix.
I've got many options. All my (relatively Android noob) buddies (some are very good programmers though) insist I should unroot and remove TWRP and get back completely to stock. I could try those sequentially. I can also return the phone and replace it since it is brand new. Oneplus suggested this rather than providing any help or real tech support.
I've googled around a lot and have found some (appears to be infrequent) folks who ocassionally loose touch access in a corner of the OP7 Pro screen. Neither this nor the "ghost touch" are the same as my issue.
Hoping to get some good advice here from some Android gurus. Thanks in advance.

Thanks, but just random tech support advice? Or do you have a reason to believe there is something particularly relevant in the 9.5.10 release?
9.5.7 or 9.5.8 had random screen touch issues Anna .10 hot fixes more bugs that they introduced to .9
If I were you, I'd update and get on the current firmware. I'd also backup all your data on the phone and do a factory reset after the updated then if it still is having issues return it for hardware defect. It makes no difference to do this as you have to perform the data wipe before returning it anyway.

Thanks, things are looking free of this issue so far on .10!
Issue is back, greatly improved but back. This phone is driving me nuts. Must be incompatible with some app...
Removed root, removed twrp, locked boot loader and clean flashed 9.5.10. Screen freezing completely gone for around 24 hours. Also have only installed essential apps. Sure would like both TWRP and Magisk back, but undecided. I seem to be the only person with this particular problem... Additional advice appreciated.
I'm getting the same problem even on .10 version.
I had to unroot and lock the bootloader again.
I thought I'm the only one who is facing this issue.
Any more updates on this? Was it an app causing it?
I have OnePlus 7 Pro for a few weeks already, but I started use 7 Pro as my primary device from last weekend and since that time I have experienced the identical problem.

Wow, I'm not alone! Can't decide if I want to do a warranty return and try an entirely new phone. We just can't be the only folks with TWRP and Magisk on this device. It seems like a software problem but odd that more are not experiencing. I'm hesitant to even try Magisk for fear of a long difficult full wipe without a good TWRP backup.
Edit: I should have done better testing but pretty sure unroot by full Magisk removal did not fix the issue.
Honestly if it's not a hardware defect the one thing I think that it could be is accidental touches. Are you using a case on your phone? Does it get any better if you lay your phone flat and only touch the screen with your finger?
When I first got my s9+ which was my first curved screen phone I had this same issue and thought it was hardware related, but when put a case on it the issue completely stopped and I realized I had been touching the curved screen with my palm while holding the phone.
I don't really see how unlocking the bootloader, magisk, or twrp could be responsible as I haven't had any issues with any of them, but you could try custom kernels or roms if you want to try everything before you return the phone, but I think that would be really grasping as straws.
It could be a Magisk module as I've had issues where installing and deleting the modules cause me to have random reboots even with all the modules uninstalled, id try wiping data, and flashing fresh oos 9.5.10 to both slots.
I just uploaded a video of that issue, sorry for the quality (Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite).
Weird issue. Glad I'm not seeing it on my International 9.5.19.
This is definitely not an issue you're going to resolve by just installing a few apps and waiting to see if they affect the performance. I am interested to see what the logcats (actually, logs in general) say at the moment the phone freezes. If anyone can provide these it would be a great insight for sure.
Unroot, lock bootloader, wipe, factory 9.5.10, problem completely gone. Good and bad, prefer root...
I've only encountered this issue while using Facebook messenger.
I tried to deactivate xposed and magisk modules but the problem persisted - it seems it just started to appear less frequently but not fixed.
I am on the Havoc ROM for more than two days and touch screen issue is gone.

Not a hardware issue.
You are running some application, that probably has a memory leak or an errant background process.
What did you install recently?
Nothing wrong with a reset every few days.

I reboot my phone(s) every day...actually I am now able to turn mine off every night...so....same thing.
The result??? I rarely have any problems on any of the phones I have ever owned.
Android is NOT Windows Server which can be up 24/7 365 with few issues. But Windows Server is WAY more polished than Android as it has existed far longer in the enterprise environment. So for those of you who complain about issues...and never reboot...well...............
I just formated my Oneplus 7t pro. Restarted a few times after initial configuration.
Still there's lag when opening dialer, settings, and sometimes keyboard pops up a bit late.

Hello, two months ago I got my 12gb oneplus 8t.
And recently been getting constant freezes and reboots. These normally happen when unlocking the phone and when I have some backround apps running like strava (but there are times, when there is basically nothing running in the backround). Out of all freezes only 1-5% are reboots. Out of all unlocks, 10-20% are freezes. What could be causing them? What's interesting that they started happening in 2020/12/10, when messenger servers were broken.
I tried to do a factory reset, but that didn't help.
My phone isn't rooted, I have yt vanced and I bought that phone from ali. I know a weird place to buy, but the price diferance was almost 200eur. But it isn't the "global version", where they ship a china rom oneplus to the EU, open the box and install the global rom.
Edit: I forgot to mention I am running the latest version of Oxgyen (the freezes didn't stop after the latest update). Am I the only one with these problems? Should I install lineage OS? As I quite like the launcher.

If a factory reset didn't solve the problem, may be it is a ROM issue. Try downloading the ROM again from OnePlus website and do a clean installation.
I'm also having the OnePlus 8T and never had such issues. There are bugs like screen yellowing randomly and others, but no freezing/ rebooting problems.

That yellowing in Chrome is a Chrome issue. You have to disable 'Dynamic Color Gamut' under chrome://flags/.
I'm talking of screen yellowing throughout the device. It happens at random and is present everywhere.
