Any help rooting or unlocking bootloader on the incredibly unpopular Blu Life One X3? - General Questions and Answers

So, here's my problem:
I bought a Blu Life One X3 late last year since it was on sale for $150 ($100 lower than the current MSRP).
Since it was still a new release, I thought that the modders would come after it eventually, so I just waited it out.
Many months later, there has been little to no word about any sort of root method, it seems like the Life One X3 turned out to be very unpopular.
So far, I have been able to get it into the OEM unlock screen using adb, prompting a press of either of the volume buttons to confirm unlock, only that the volume up button won't do anything, and the volume down just cancels the process.
Any help at all?
Big thanks!

Ferchito
Hi Xiione,
I bought a couple of X3s recently and I was also expecting some development for them already but I only found your thread.
I think there are chances to root the X3 and install customs rooms since it has the same chipset as the BLU Vivo 5 (Chipset Mediatek MT6753, CPU Octa-core 1.3 GHz) and the Vivo 5 has extensive coverage and even kernel sources available. Vivo 5 doesn't have a fingerprint sensor but the BLU Life One X2 Mini has one that I'd be willing to bet is the same as the X3, so drivers may work for it too. This is the route I will follow but I'm only getting started with this stuff so it will probably take a few weeks to get some results.
Hopefully others will join
Cheers

Hey dude!
Glad to see at least one other living human that bought the same phone... good to hear that there might be some hope for this poor device after all.
I'm not so experienced in this area, so there is only so much I can achieve at the moment. I'm looking forward to hearing back from you if any developments arise, I'll do my best to dig around for a solution.

You will not find a one click root for that device. The problem is Blu is still recovery from their security scandal. So most people won't buy their devices.

funny thing is... i don't really consider rooting devices as necessary as it once was (for me). But still... it bugs me to no end i can't get this phone rooted.
I'm having the same problem as the OP.. i'm able to get into fastboot mode, but oem unlock option leads to a dead volume up button which leaves me nowhere. it really is to bad there's so little interest in BLU. they make decent phones at great prices, imo. but i also know they make it very difficult for developers as well.. difficult to get source and such. ...

They are unpopular due to the security issues the company has faced. Not to mention they are just rebranded chinese devices. Which is why sourse is hard to get for them as they dont really make the devices.

I understand the security concerns. However, it's inconceivable that they would not have source, regardless of where the phones come from. If they released the code, more secure versions of the OS could be made available.

It's very common with rebranded Chinese phones. Micromax (and oem in India) had the same issue. The main issue is the oem doesn't release it as it's not required in China. And no it couldn't. The kernel source is only a small part of it.
Best bet is to be more selective with your next device purchase

I do. I'll be at your preschool later today after nap time so if your a good boy you might get to see it. If you can stay awake passed the puppet show.
Look here is the bottom line. You bought a joke of a device. Because you didn't do research. Now you have malware as well as it reporting to Chinese servers all your private info (you can look it up if you want.)
But to save you asking mommy for internet time

So good luck with that. I hope you learn before another year goes by.

Well to be honest from your pic of devices 2 things are clear.
1. My shows would be above your station in life.
2. You couldn't afford my shows.
Look you were told all the help you are gonna get over the past year. And yet you keep trying. You know that's the text book definition of of insanity right?
Even if you managed to find the source guess what. Your bootloader is locked and there is no unlock. So if with the code You can do nothing. Not like you would be able to understand it even if you got it I fear.
Just accept that you messed up and move on. We all do it. It's called growing up.
Oh and next time you need help. Mugjt try a support site and not a developers site. But that might be above your head.

That is a BS excuse. With the internet you can have any device you want. Just save up for it. Its that simple. As for the condescension, you are ready far to much into things. You can get great devices for really cheap these days. I mean even almost good devices like Xiaomi are really cheap.
I was here long before you and ill be here modding devices and building the os for my device long after you are gone.

Old Fart (really) Needs Help!!!

I know now that it was a mistake, but I bought a Chinese Clone of the HTC Touch Diamond2(?) but now I am stuck with it. What the problem is that at my residence, I have a poor signal from my Rogers provider and will only work intermittently just in one corner of the house if I stand in the corner, hold my mouth the right way, stand on one foot (you know what I mean). From reading your forum and others, it is suggested that upgrading your ROM may help with reception issues. O.K., more than willing to try this but for the life of me, I can't get this phone to upgrade. Seller is of no help either. I can get into the boot menu buy holding the phone answer and power buttons at the same time. I have not found the combination or a way to get it to give me a hard reboot. I have tried the HardSPL method but that does not work or the RUU way either. I am having major surgery two months from now and will be bed ridden for at least 6 weeks. I would dearly like this phone to work for so I can keep in touch with my children via text messaging. Here are some of the numbers I have found inside:
02-8174-85053
T5353
Serial:xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
IMEI:xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Windows Mobile 6.1
O/S: 1.0.02.342
Boot: 1.0.02.347
I apologize for being so long winded....just trying to give the most information possible. I really appreciate any help or guidance you can give me. Thank-you from Canada.
Well, the HardSPL and rom flashing are device specific, so even if you bought a device that looks like the Diamond 2, you have something completely different under the hood. Hence, none of the tools that you mentioned will work. As far as upgrading the rom, it isn't the OS rom that may help you with your reception issues, but the Radio. I know of a few Chinese forums that are involved with these knock-offs but to be honest (from what I have read), people simply complain there and I do not know how much help are they receiving.
I am sorry for telling you like this, but there is a very small chance that someone around here is going to have a radio or a custom rom for your device. On the flip side, if you would have been successful at flashing your device, you would now be the proud owner of a shinny, expensive paperweight, so not all has been lost...
I hope you can get some more help. Google your device +your carrier (ie Sunno HD +Rogers +no signal) or something like that (be creative) and you may come up with an answer.
Best of luck with your surgery though
I have a better idea- you were mis-sold a product, and are entitled to a refund. Do that instead. There's no way I'd put up with accepting a copy of a product if it was advertised as such.
In future I would be more careful as to where you purchase things! As an old fart, you should know this!

Well, I guess he knew that it was a knock off, and most Chinese Vendors will tell you that whatever you are buying is not the real thing. So, unless there is something really wrong with it, they may be hesitant to refund any money.

for some reason i feel the opposite towards this.
I am glad that they put a hardware chip that can bring the phone back to factory default settings. They probably did this because so many people had bricked their phones with no real way to get them back up and running so they had to send them in.... This way it should eliminate that whole process....
why this is good?
It will be cracked, and will give modders room to store custom roms or clockwork recovery on this... or.....
A MOD CHIP!!!! imagine a small mod chip that could enable or disable the chip. You muck up your phone, hit the switch... go back to factory defaults.
Reminds me of the old Playstations where I had to go get them chipped to be modded.
First off it was a pretty good read. Personally I would take this as yet another reason to keep up the awesome work done by the fine programmers here on XDA! Give them something else to "access & modify".
All in all, I never got the feeling of "eff off". But then again, that was just me.
What a whiner. Every day I'm more and more disgusted by some of the people on here. What have you personally done to help HTC aside from maybe buy a phone of theirs? What have they done for you? Oh, they gave you a miracle of modern technology. The ability to have a phone in your pocket which is amazing by itself, forget the fact that it can look up maps, browse the internet, play music and videos, etc.
What about people who don't even have phones?
You're sitting here complaining because of issues rooting a phone which YOU DONT EVEN OWN or intend to buy judging from your comments.
Let me also ask you this: Is the ability to root a phone a feature that is advertised or standard on any devices? Are phone manufactures supposed to be supporting this?

Would you be happy if you bought a car and told you you went allowed to mod it or accessorise it? What someone does with their own device is none of anyone elses business INCLUDING the manufacturer and provider. If I buy a sponge cake I should be able to add whatever decorations and icing I want, If I buy a PC I should be able to install whatever OS and programs I want. Is that so hard to understand?

hard to understand? not at all.
also, not true. you can't legally install apple OS on non-apple hardware. you can't legally alter an iphone. you can't legally mod your car with NOS or any number of other things.
there are still laws, and company policy to take into consideration. your argument is furthered by the fact that android is open source - but what that REALLY means is that Android can be thrown on any manufacturers phone with no limitations - NOT that any phone that has android HAS no limitations.
I WISH the world allowed us to do whatever we wanted without ourselves and our possessions, but that is simply not the case.

OK -
so first, where did I say I was never interested in this phone? If you care to take a look at my posting history you will see I'm desperate for a phone with a keyboard. (ROM issue aside) I did take a look at this phone but the screen is just a little too small for me and I just don't personaly like Android. If this is your ONLY argument, then you know you really have no argument - move along please, nothing to see here.
Second, you seem to be missing the grand picture. You see all those subforums for each phone right? Pay particular attention to the "ROMs" subforums for EACH phone.... delete them. IF I understand this correctly, none of the new phones (assuming they all employ this) will have cooked ROMs. Why do you think most of us are here? Thats right, because HTC ROMs out of the box are crap... cooked ROMs have certainly saved my use of HTC phones and to be honest, are one of the priamary reasons I would buy a HTC phone (and have!).
Third, if you had any idea what I was talking about you would know that this is not so much about the "phone" itself but the very fact that cooked ROMs will no longer be possible. If it was about the phone, I would have posted it in the G2 section.
So in summary, (and this might be hard for you) please, try to focus on the new "feature" of the phone rather than the phone itself. Also, try to stop assuming facts like I was never going to buy this phone and really, if this is the best discussion point you can bring, please use the "unsubscribe" option - do us all a favour.

I don't "feel" it is illegal. I don't believe it is wrong - but they have the legal right to tell me it is. that doesn't mean i won't do it anyway - I just don't lie to myself and say it is allowed... even if I believe that it should be.
there's a difference between recognizing the law and following it. I'm not saying I don't agree, that it sucks that they will lock out ROMs. BUT - I've got my Evo and it will last me for years, so i really don't care.
it's called reality. I'm not arguing that your opinion is wrong - i'm highlighting that it is just your opinion, and in this world they don't mean much.

Am I missing something or is the Chevron unlock a useless item now? If I have a new WP7 fully updated is there any hope of unlocking it at present? I am too used to Android already so it's going to kill me if this thing can't be hacked and I get put back in the corporate cage.
Please advise on any opportunities.
What phone do you have? If it's an LG, you can use the built in secret MFG app to modify the registry, and enable the developer unlock. (Which is all that Chevron does anyway).
If not... you may be able to downgrade. You can certainly downgrad the LG Optimus 7 by downloading the original ROM and installing using some whacky LG-specific 'modem' software.
I'm not sure what other options you have.

Basically, if you have the latest WP7 updates applied, there is no known method to unlock your device.
Someone will surely figure out how to crack it open again, but right now, there is nothing.

Didnt you just claim here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=986628that WP7 is a joke? Really, for someone who claims android is so superior how hard can it be to take the WP7 device you dont like back to the store you got it from and get a device you actually like and NOT troll on the WP7 forums?

Someone posting claiming that using WP7 is like being in prison (not to mention creating another thread to bash WP7) doesnt really come across as someone looking for help. Is it really that hard to just move on from an OS you tried and didnt like, is there an unspoken rule that says you have to bash WP7?
Dang, sorry to get you MS fans ruffled. I really didn't mean to honestly. I didn't know that only certain people are entitled to an opinion here.
I got this particular phone because I work in a location where I KNOW for certain gets good reception. I'd have rather had an Android phone but didn't want to chance getting one that didn't have the same reception in that geographical area. Some phones radios are just stronger than others.
It'll do for making calls, texting and checking emails in a pinch. I truly didn't realize that the platform was wrapped up so tightly before I got it. If you've ever had an Android phone you should understand the shock factor after switching.
I still have my Droid and will use it primarily. I'll just keep the WP7 to use like the "may-pop" spare tire on a car until a way to unlock it again comes available.
Edit: And as for my other post that was linked...I am too used to reading in the other forum and not the WP7 section that I kinda forgot where I was. Apologies for that. Some of the issues folks need to know about before purchasing the devices though.
Grow a brain, look into what you are buying next time you purchase anything.
And you didn't get "us MS fanbois ruffled durr", you walked into a forum of people who enjoy a particular device and trash-talked it instead of being mature.

You had kids when you were 9?
I'll be honest, I thought you were 15 or so by your posting style.
Took a while but I got this one to side load apps. So it's still able to be unlocked as of now. I did install the Chevron .cert, used LGM to dev unlock, had to change my USB setting to QC Composite I think. Still looking to see what's out and available for it.
Would love a way to bluetooth files over to it. Or Dropbox.

Ulterior options to Sunshine for rooting

Hello all,
There was asimilar thread to this (which was short lived because it turned into nothing but a few little d-bags fighting like little girls) in the M8 non-specific carrier forum for conversation and information regarding potential other projects in progress for rooting the VZW M8 that is running 4.4.4 considering there is absolutely no options as of now... I for one have already decided to leave Verizon for this very reason, and if t_mobile is floating the bill for early termination...awesome! However I'm still stuck with the phone, which i love, but have never had a phone i couldn't root after one day of googling. So i want to know if anyone else is privvy to any info that I am not, it looks as though susunshine will be at least another 3 months. It seems there is easy too many geniuses out there to have jcase being the only one that has enough knowledge to do this, don't get me wrong, he is brilliant and very generous with his work but crap! This is aa pretty popular phone and lots of folks using VZW even though they suck for this kind thing, some have no choice and go to who offers the best reception in there area. Please post your thoughts.....
P.s. - as mentioned iam going to be having this VZW branded M8 AND I HAD heard there was a law passed stating that the carriers had to unlock the phones if the customer requested?? Anyone know about this, if so what do ineed to do?
As far as I know there is no progress on unlocking/s-off'ing 4.4.4 except for sunshine. It currently only works on 4.4.3 and below but it has been alluded to that future updates may support 4.4.4. You'll just have to wait and see.
Regarding the unlocking law, that's a different kind of "unlock". You're asking about unlocking your bootloader to allow you access to deeper levels of the phone's memory. That law was about being able to "carrier unlock" a phone to take it to another carrier which uses he same or overlapping frequencies.
It's unfortunate, but as far I can tell no new root method is working, and it might be a while until one is, as basically all other methods have been completely "fixed".
No one would be willing to burn an exploit right now knowing l is so close. Doing so right now would allow them to patch before l drops. We don't want or need that.

That completely makes sense, with L coming so soon they would be wasting their time and effort, as they may have one now but they do not want to release it because it would more than likely still work on L when its out and it would probably be a good while before an update after L so by waiting they are just being using good business sense.
But then again another dev or team could beat them to a crack, that is the good thing about a free society there is competition and no one owns the market at least not for long. I say bring on the competition lol.

I really doubt that because there are a lot of devs out there that all they want is the recognition for being the one to crack it and are not looking for financial gain.

Once an exploit is burned its burned. If it is burned before L and it gets patched in L it means L gets delayed and everyone else gets locked out. It's a matter of the few versus the many. The fact they are NOT burning the exploit now because of this should tell you it's not about $.

That does NOT mean it has nothing to do with $ because it would not be smart to release it now because there would be no gain giving away the crack then they would not make much $ because yes L would most likely patch it. The most financial gain would be to wait till after L because the next update would be a lot farther away, giving more time to collect.

This thread is no longer serving a purpose. You are upset after being locked out which I understand. Unless you come up with a method and exploit of your own I would suggest you cease this conversation as there won't be a happy ending.

I think we can both agree and both agree to disagree, after all we dont have to agree.
Thank you for your opinion and have a good day.

heck yes
There can always be a fruitful discussion without people agreeing, that is the way our forefathers did it, and as far as I know, they didn't kill one another, good thread.

Nuh i dont think so. And its not the first company who actually done it. And again its in their legal rights to do so., but as i said it very easy to exploit the bootloader without bootloader code and it will not make any difference customizing it. Back in my days we had to crack the CD to clone the game....and even today we crack the EXE to play pirate games. The same will happen with the devices. Samsung and Google already locked many devices and you was not able to get a bootloader code. That did not stop us though

Same thing here. P9 was really great had it for two years and I was very satisfied. But no way am I going with the P20. It has terrible value... So expensive? Bad design choices...
I think most companies take a bad turn after they get too big. Same thing with Samsung. They made an almost perfect phone with the Galaxy S3 (at the time) for a great price. Then they kept releasing the same design but increased price every year and now they sell glass slates that break if you look at them wrong, that cost 1000$.
I just got an amazing deal on an LG G6 which already has Oreo. That will hopefully last me until this whole notch/no headphone-jack craze washes over!

Its not about "getting to big". Look at it from company and market perspective. Some people here dont get it but modded devices take really small percentage of overall Android devices out there. We sit inside and read about that so we thing that everyone doing that but, most of android users dont even know what Android version they have, for them its just "Android Phone" + Brand name.
But for past year that number of custom roms and forcing updates that users do because they dont want to wait for official OTA grow and companies want to protect their names so there will be no situation like company is known that it have bad devices because people who mess with firmware cry about it all over the internet creating bad reputation.
Huawei was never perfect device for modding, and because Huawei is one of the biggest companies that aim for top they want to smooth their reputation by protecting their devices(no messing with bootloader = marketing advertising for "safe" device) and make users to use build in features and updates that they can control instead of messing with device to get it.
And yes, some people will cry that they will never get Huawei device again, or cry that its worst decision, but in reality those people are less than 0.5% of their worldwide user base. Some people will still mod those devices because they know-how, and stopping "easy way" to unlocking bootloader is not big deal, and Huawei devices are not alone here, there is lots of other devices and few companies that also block it and no one cry about it beside small number of people.
For me and probably for most of people it dont matter, Huawei devices are not bad compared to other companies, they work good, and for all normal people thats matter: that device work good. Today there is not much reason to mod devices, most of options that people need are build in, performance on even mid-range devices are good, no need to tinker under the hud like in old days to get device to work smooth. There are still many apps that need root and there are many roms that are really good, but most of people dont need that anymore, and only new users and people who are bored tinker with it... and for most of time screw their devices and then cry all over the internet that phone dont work...

He is right though because the market is not targeting on "under the hood modders" but they do target on average Joes who gets a phone , takes a good picture, using messenger, call, play some android games yadda yadda.
I can tell you that its less than 0.5% worldwide and if that 0.5% needs 3-4 times to return the devices because they hardbrick their devices from custom firmwares, they will have to replace the device which is a cost and also they will gain bad reputation for having "sensitive" devices. I dont think you bought P9 for the under the hood customization. Did you? because most of us got it for the superior cameras tbh.
I do dislike the fact that bootloader is locked , however there is always a way to bypass bootloader and push TWRP. Ive done it already on P8 and P9 and i can not see where it would be a problem with newer devices.
If someone wants to push a custom firmware and have the knowledge to do it, then definitely he will have enough experience on searching for tools that can do this job. Legally, illegally it doesnt matter.

Huawei P9 is my first Huawei device, for past years I was using only Sony devices. I dont have any "feelings" to phone, because its just device, and it work as advertised.
I dont care how Huawei run its own company, I see other companies and overall market and its not different than others.

are you one of those guyz?
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/a...remony-prove-precious-phones-daily-lives.html
Bootloader=kernel?
you mixed up what is what.
Lesson one:
Android Bootloader
Every Android phone has a bootloader that instructs the operating system kernel to boot normally. But you need to understand one thing here that as Android OS is an open source OS and is available on a variety of different hardware, every manufacturer has their own version of bootloader specific for the hardware present in it’s environment. At its most basic level, your Android smartphone is like a hard drive, made of up several partitions. One of those partitions holds the Android system files, another holds all the app data you accumulate (which is how you’re usually able to update without losing all your stuff), and others to do more behind-the scenes stuff.
Lesson two
Why are Bootloaders Locked?
A bootloader is usually locked on an Android device because although it’s an open source OS, still the manufacturers want you to stick to their Android OS version specifically designed for the device. In order to apply this concept, manufacturers lock the bootloader. With a locked bootloader on Android devices, it is virtually impossible to flash a Custom ROM and forced attempts void warranty as well as usually end up in bricks. Therefore, the first step is to always unlock the bootloader.
Lesson 3:
Why keep a bootloader out of reach? One of the biggest reasons is that the carriers and manufacturers dont want to have to support hacked phones. The other is that a lot of time and money is spent developing these things.
Lesson 4
No company is obligated to release or to help you unlock your bootloader. You are allowed to hack it. But you have to respect the brick and return policies.
You can complain as much you want. If you want to play with fimrwares you can go buy an old samsung device.
The market is targeting the user and not the developer.

I'm not even comparing, im just giving you examples where companies are being just ignorant to devs. Why they should care about brick after unlocking bootloader? You make zero sense. Unlocked bootloader void warranty so back to the topic. If you still think removing to have an option is "good" then congratulations have fun.
