Hi all,
I'm all excited because I'm finally getting rid of my iPhone and I will buy the OnePlus 6 Midnight!
Before I do, I want to ask if I can use any wired headphones with mic with the OnePlus 6?
I'm asking because I had the OnePlus One back in the days, but unfortunately the mic didn't work for any wired headphones, unless it was the original OnePlus wired headphones. Pretty lame!
My wired headphones aren't from OnePlus and work like a charm.. no problems here
Sent from my OnePlus6 using XDA Labs
The only thing is to have the headphones.

And the mic is compatible as well?
Sure, headphones incl. microphone work.
Hard to imagine they didn't on the Oneplus One. You sure it wasn't a hardware fault or buggy ROM that caused it?

Buy boat bassheads or senhieser One they have good support on op6
Thanks for the info!
Regarding the OnePlus One - this one wasn't compatible with other headphones (the sound worked, but the mic didn't). It was really a shame so that's why I wanted to be sure before buying OnePlus 6

All headphones work.
But don't buy Midnight Black. Buy some of the limited and exclusive color, like Silk White, Avengers, and Red.
It seems to me that those are least prone to defects.

Asian users are livid with the abundance of bugs. I don't have those, though I have a few.
European and American users are far and few between in reporting bugs.
Therefore, it seems like those who aren't Asian, European, and Americans are very likely to get a nice bug-free limited edition phone that works 101% of the time.
Enjoy!
Is a joke. Limited edition phones seem to have fewer defects in my observation.
I actually want to report a bug but I don't know where I can. Sometimes phone loses totally signal and screen locks itself. It does not bother me.a lot as it doesn't happen so much but would be interesting to know what causes this.

I left my iPhone 6+ for the nexus (don't judge from my past indiscretion lol)
The apple ear buds were quite nice.. They were more than adequate. I have an old nexus pair but they sound like crap all tinny and the buttons do not work.
So, here is what I am looking for and hoping someone can help me before I have to travel with these nexus buds.
Wired headset with mic. Optional that there are buttons to control the volume.
Thanks
Xiaomi Hybrid! Great quality for the price. The sound clear with a good bass. Super confortable also. And better of all, all keys work with 6P.

Highly recommended, simply the best you can if you don't want to spend a lot more.
If you don't want the silicone bits in your ear the Degauss Labs Pocket Couture headphones are great. The sound quality isn't as good as their fully in ear headphones like the Noirs etc but I have heard far worse. The buttons work fine provided you get the Android version.

Disclaimer: The ones with 3 button controls - I have no clue if all of the buttons work with the 6P. I'm making recommendations based on products I've had some kind of experience with, and I tend to prioritize audio and build quality over smartphone compatibility. All of the 1 buttons earphones should work fine.
enjoy.

Guys, can you confirm that all three buttons work for sure because my Mi3 piston earphones doesn't quite work well. The volume down button and the mic don't seem to work. Works fine with my old Nexus 5 though.
Yes all three are working! I want to buy the piston, but after I reading that the buttons don't work and with hybrid are working, I just buy the hybrid and it was an excellent deal.
wow!! I just checked and saw all these replies. Thank you all so very much. I decided to try the Xiaomi Mi Hybrid's. I will post my thoughts mid next week for sure.

I have had these over a year now and are much better than anything i have used in the past. https://www.jays.se/products/a-jays-five/
The Jays app allows you to customize the buttons and the buds are nice and comfortable.
I have been caught in the rain more than a few times with them and they seem very durable.
I went with the xiaomi and tbh I love them. They feel like earbuds and sound amazing.
I've got the Xiaomi Pistons 3 but the buttons don't work. So I'm ordering the Xiaomi Hybrids.

I'm very tempted to buy those pocket couture, I was looking for something similar to apple earpods (or even apple earpods) for my 5X, since I don't like (I hate a lot) this fully in ear headphones (seems like screws in my ear to me). I liked a lot the headphones that came with my HTC One X but finally four years later seems like they're broken.
Any other suggestions for me? Or the best I can do itś going for the degauss labs pocket couture?
Thnx

I certainly couldn't find anything else without the silicone tips and Android controls built in. There are a few Bluetooth options which fit the bill although these are a lot more costly/bulky.

Could you Guys confirm the exact model name of the headset your using? I'm making a headset mega thread for the Nexus 6P & wanna make sure I'm putting in the right model name of the headset you guys said work, Thanks!
So i bought the honor 8 because it's an great phone for a great price. But when i put in the 3.5mm into the phone. It doesn't activate or even sense the Hyper X Cloud 2. I took it to the store the day after and they said it was a software problem. So my question is. If i change from Android EMUI to like Android Kitkat. Will it work, or should i give the phone back and get another phone?
I never faced this problem. Have you ever tried some other headphones?
If you think it's really EMUI issue then try to upgrade from EMUI 4 to EMUI 5 only if you haven't upgraded yet.
It's a hardware issue not a software one. Some headphones follow the apple style of headphone jack but for some reason these don't work on the Honor 8. Other headphones that implement the traditional circuit or both together, work though. This is actually a very old issue and most Android devices adopted the Apple style for their jacks but seemingly not in this case.
You can buy an adapter to solve it.

Amazon has them, eBay, alot of online stores have them. Should be 7-10 dollars
The headphone connector has two rings on it. If it has three rings then it won't work on the Honor 8. So just buy any adaptor with two rings on it should be fine.

There are some earphones that use Apple's standard and those are the ones that don't work. All of these types of connectors are 3 ringed ones.
This is actually an old issue that hasn't been in Android devices since many years but the Honor 8 has the problem.

Look at the differing standards. I have an aux cable with three rings that works on my iPhone and galaxy s7 edge but not on the Honor 8. However another with three rings works on all. Surely there has to be a difference in the jack inside the Honor 8 for such behavior. To be on the safe side I always opt for those with 2 rings for my Honor 8 as they have never failed me.

Hmmm. That's strange. Well I don't really have other earphones to test out. I use Honor's bullet earphones as my daily and they work perfectly. Even the apple ones with the mic work on my devices. I was also able to connect my phone to my friend's sound system but apart from that I haven't tested with anything so I'm gonna have to take ur work for it.

I found that if you plug in the headphones untill you feel a bump and hear static in your headphones. Then pull out and push in a few millimeters back and forth. It will detect your headphones and will work! Not the best solution but it works.
Even though it might be too late. I fixed the problem by putting in the microphone.

I have not seen any news for an updated version of the wireless model, but indeed they are launching a new headphone which is a wired Type C.
They wireless have a new model number but look exactly the same as the other ones. Maybe an updated charging port warp charge bigger battery or my hope BT 5.0 aptx hd. With even better sound stage.. we will soon see.

Awaiting for the BEAST
That sounds amazing! With the beast I get the bass beast. Always have been a fan of OP ! Kudos to the team to live up to the expectation! Cool man ! Awaiting the next beast - OP6T! Will definitely upgrade ! :
Got my bullets wireless (newer model) 2 hour ago and I've been screwing with them since then. They're really nicely made, comfortable and the included "adaptors" (wings and ear tips) could probably have a slightly bigger option, or the biggest option could've been a bit bigger. But this is just nitpicking though. But we have to admit that the design is inspired by the Beats X which is not necessarily a bad thing because those are pretty great. They're a bit better in terms of quality, but the bullets wireless are really close to them and they're considerably cheaper . Oh, not to forget, the cable is a bit longer that I wanted, but it's ok.
Sound: they sound really good out of the box but I've never been satisfied with any headphones/earbuds I tried. For me the conclusion is drawn AFTER using them tweaked with Viper4Android. There's no listening to anything without V4A, which allows for a series of tweaks that makes the audio experience for MY ears and perception of what a great sound is.
Anyway, without V4A they sound pretty good, not exceptional but pretty good nonetheless. They're really loud and it's really nice that there is no distortion of sound at maximum volume.
With V4A and my favourite profile (tweaked a bit), they're pretty great. They can be even louder and the sound still doesn't distort, but that's just a bit of an extreme scenario to see what they're capable of because it's an unrealistic and no one would blow up their eardrums listening to music at that volume.
Mic quality, better that almost every other pair I tried. I dare to say it's better than my OP6's mic, but I need to test it in more environments than at home (indoors, outdoors).
The pause function when you stuck one earbud to the other is really useful.
And this last thing might seem a silly one, but ... Usb-C, baby. Finally I'm done with having to use 2 cables to charge my s#!t.
Anyway, I haven't spent but around 2 hours wit them, but it's enough to recommend them to anyone who wants something great for a relatively decent price. They're worth more , IMO, but I digress.
If you were thinking of getting a pair, go for it. You will NOT be dissapointed one bit.

It says 32b on mine. If it makes you feel any better, one of my friends has the 31b model (previous model) and there's no difference in sound at all, or build quality, etc. The 31b model even has clickier buttons than my pair so I'm pretty sure OnePlus hasn't improved anything in the last model. 32b is probably meant as a model name change because of the red wired pair of wireless bullets they released along the OP6T. So in terms of quality (etc) they're most probably the same. So don't worry, your model is identical to mine despite of what the model name says.

V4a improves everything. If you want overwhelming base, V4a will give you that, and as strong as the base you'll tweak to be, it won't distort, which shows that the Bullets Wireless are really capavle of providing marginally better sound than what they're giving out of the box.
I can't imagine using a phone without V4a installed. It's just too good to not have.

Anyone else order a pair? I ordered two, one pair for my wife, and one for me. It will be interesting to see how they compare to the Bullets that came with the phone.
I want them but I don't think they could replace my AirPods Pro so may just skip on them.
Or maybe get them as a secondary pair for the gym or something.
Ordered and then realized they won't work unless I update my device. Kinda sad as I don't wanna lose photochrome filter. Maybe I'll gift them to my wife.
My buds have arrived, and I have to say, I am impressed. The sound is crisp and clear with plenty of bass and volume. Definitely worth the price, imo.

Whatever floats your boat. I'll take software updates and hardware over creep shots.
yeah if you are into heavy bass music these are definitely good. Not my cup of tea.
I'm considering these even though I'm not sure how much I'd use them.
I tend to throw on the wired buds I have from my Google phones.
I understand if you use the 1+ app that's made for these buds, the experience is quite good.
More options and supposedly the buds receive updates too.
How have you found it?
TIA
BTW I don't care what anyone says, this is definitely the best phone I've had to date

The buds do receive updates, as there was one available out if the box. I haven't found an app yet, but still looking.
edit: now I'm reading that the app would be on your phone after a recent update to the buds themselves. it definitely gives you more functionality according to the reviews.
there's supposed to be an app on the play store for the buds. I don't see it either but it's mentioned in virtually all the reviews.

I have not opened them. If my buddy doesn't end up buying them from me I'll test it out.

thank you in advance
OP buds are poor in design , sound quality & fonctionality. Fluid design is gone out of the window on that one . Whom ever signed off on those OP buds at OP need an apraisal . I got my money back and went back to a cheap set on amazone at £18 perfoming better them OP buds .
The buds are really good actually I was very surprised. They are just made for the oneplus 8pro and I'd recommend viper4android mod too it's amazing. I like how they pair quickly and have good support for our phones. I also have airpods for my ipad etc and they don't sound as good as the One Plus buds.
Agree, so far they are pretty good!
I'm looking for Bluetooth true wireless earbuds or at least Bluetooth in-ear buds with a thin wire that support APT-X HD. I've seen a few of the latter on Amazon, but wanted to know if anyone on here had any personal suggestions and good results with any/with the OnePlus 8?

They don't specifically say they support Apt-X HD, but, they look promising and I like the idea of the earbuds from the same company that makes my phone. I've ordered them in white (only color available). Should get them in a few days.

Ya, but that doesn't answer his question. Do you know what codecs they support? I also think Apt-X is superior and would love to get some. Had some $20.00 headphones from Amazon that had Apt-X but dogs ate them and cannot find a replacement for them.

I didn't answered the question because I thought that Apt-X didn't make such a difference. But if you say it does I trust you, I've never tried myself so you know better.
In the other hand : Mom! Hungry doggo ate my earbuds again! ???
Thank you, you made me smile today

Its just my opinion. Everyone's ears are different but I think it makes a big difference. Right now I have Galaxy Buds+, Jaybird Tarah, Jaybird Run XT. They sound good on this phone but I know Apt-X is even better.
I would love to hear what others say about Apt-X headphones. I search Amazon all the time but cannot find a decent cheap pair.
I got a pair of Sabbat's U12 Ultra's... they okay... good value for money and support apt-X. Also have a pair of Jabra Elites 65T's, also okay.
The sound quality from my Jaybird Bluebuds X is significantly better than the Sabbat's/Jabra's and that's a set from 2015!! Jaybird's are so good I'm considering a pair of the X4's...
Creative Outliers are also very highly rated....

Oneplus bullets wireless 2. They have and support aptx HD. In fact, I'm using them now.

Yeah I got my "OnePlus Buds" today, absolutely not impressed. Mediocre sound quality, my ears hurt after them being in for 20 minutes. Going to return. Need to do more research.
Also the Bullets 2 seem to have a hard neckband. Not really into that, I've had a few of those, and they slip off when you're working out hard/doing chores.
I got these and they're not bad. The sounds quality is decent and the mic quality is good for taking calls. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07SJR6HL3/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I ended up getting these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B...&pf_rd_p=edaba0ee-c2fe-4124-9f5d-b31d6b1bfbee
While they are just Apt-X and not Apt-X HD, they sound incredible. Infact, I'd say they are on par with or better than my Samsung Galaxy Buds which cost around $150 typically. For $20, you absolutely cannot go wrong. The case is metal and feels of better quality than the case my Samsung's came with. The phone came up with a banner "Qualcomm Aptx" when I paired them. It's damn clean audio, the fit is amazing in my ear and comfortable. My wife tried them and loves them so much, she's ordered a pair for herself.

Do those have AptX or AptX-HD?
My only complaint with the $20 ones I got (and my wife even got a pair now) is that they are a bit heavy on the bass. I know many these days like that, but it's a little over the top. Still clear, you can hear all dialogue and it's got a nice range (high/low). Again, for $20 I find them nicer than my Samsung Galaxy Buds overall.

Neither I'm afraid...
Are you rooted and do you use Viper at all? Absolutely amazing app for customizing your sound profiles! Never owned a pair of Ankers but they get good reviews and super competitively priced!
I'd jump on the promo but I'm based in South Africa so unlikely to ship to SA and if they do the cost to import and ship will most likely be triple the selling price. Not an option for me sadly...
I need to root...infact thanks for reminding me! Need to start with step 1.
