Recently my Nexus 5 has been acting weird. the right side of the touchscreen sometimes becomes completely unresponsive and sometimes phantom touches occur. I've tried reinstalling android and the problem is still there. I've noticed its gotten better once i removed my screen protector but from time to time the screen still acts up. I was thinking maybe it has to do with humidity or temperature. Anyway has anyone else had this kind of issue? Any suggestions for a fix other than replacement?
is this happening when plugged in/charging only

No it seems to happen randomly even when not charging, really weird
i asked because thats common behavior for a malfunctioning charger or one with too much voltage.

Yeah I've heard about those issues with charging, but I'm using the charger that came with it, that shouldn't cause any issues right?
Hello,
My Nexus 5 has been driving me insane since I got it (bought it used). When the screen turns back on, I get ghost presses anywhere on the screen. This happens sporadically.
I was able to pinpoint the problem by disabling the screen lock and running "multitouch Test". When turning the screen back on sometimes you can clearly see 5-10 ghost presses. The phone does not have a case, and there does not seem to be any pressure on the screen (else I would still see the press after turning it on).
This happens on AOSP or CAF based roms.
Am I the only one with this issue??
Is there a way to lock touchscreen input for 500/1000ms after waking up the screen (this would be a great workaround)?
Thanks
Is your phone charging when you notice this?

I tested this without charging.
I see. It happens sometimes when it's charging. I feel like it might also happen if your phone gets too hot.

Sounds like somebody sold you a lemon. I hope they transferred their warranty over to you.
My Nexus 5 is showing the same behaviour but only when I enable DT2W via any kernel. Can you confirm?
Sounds like water damage. Owned!
looking into buying this phone. watched a few reviews, and some say theres issues with the fingerprint scanner not working correctly to unlock the phone and others no mention of problems. this would be one of the main reasons i choose this phone is for the finger scanner. i hate entering passcodes. so whats the opinion on this scanner?
No issues. Scanner is actually one of the better ones I've used! @superhtchd2- side note, just noticed your screen name...the hd2 was definitely awesome! Its what really got me into flashing and programming phones?
good to hear. seen 2 mentions of scanner issues on reviews on youtube so had me a little worried. and that was one of the first phones that had me flashing and all also. hence when i first found this site and used that name lol..
Fingerprint scanner works perfectly here. Screen off. Screen on. On lock screen. With finger rotated upside down. They all work.

All the major reviews had pre-release software where you couldn't unlock the phone with the screen on, only with the screen off. In other words, the fingerprint reader wouldn't unlock the lock screen. This is no longer the case and the reader seems fairly accurate (I'd say 90%+). The only time I see an issue is when the phone is charging with the screen off it seems to be less accurate. I suspect something else wake-oriented is happening versus an actual issue with the reader, though.
I still have my HD2 (currently running Windows Phone on it).
ok good stuff. what about fast charging? on blu's site it says it has it. but again, reviews say it doesnt?

It appears to charge faster with the included charger. I have an Aukey Quick Charge 2.0 charger and the phone draws about an amp less using that versus the BLU charger so I doubt the phone supports the Qualcomm standard. It's definitely fast, though.
It does have fast charge. From a dead battery with screen off and charging with factory charger...i usually get to around 48 -54% in 25- 30 mins. Im sure it was already mentioned in another post, but download an app called Ampere from playstore. Its free and it will show you how many ma your device is charging at. Fast charge should be around 2600-3000ma. If not, try dis-connecting then reconnecting charger and re-measure w Ampere.
fingerprint
This is my first phone with fingerprint. About 30% of the time it doesn't ready my finger, but I figure I have to make sure my finger and the sensory are clean. I was going to clean it out with rubbing alcohol over Thanksgiving.
I love the finger scanner on this phone - it's one of the best features for me
maybe you place the finger "incorrectly"
I just figured I'd report this. This is my second Blu Pure XL phone. I exchanged it since the first one had minor screen damage. Both phones had issues with the fingerprint sensor not working properly when the phone is charging only when plugged into a certain outlet (grounding issue). Also, I'm not sure what happened but today the fingerprint sensor stopped working all together. This is with the phone not charging, and I cleaned the sensor, rebooted the phone and no luck. Finally I plugged it into the charger for a few seconds, then unplugged it and like magic it started working again. I've had the new phone for over a month and this is the first time that happened. Hopefully it was just some weird, rare software bug and not a developing hardware issue.

Guys it happened again today. The fingerprint reader started working about 30 percent of the time. I plugged the phone into the charger (into another outlet that doesn't cause the grounding issue), unplugged the phone, and now it's back to working 100 percent of the time. I'm going to use a surge protector with the outlet that's giving me problems and see how it goes. I would exchange the phone, but the first one had the same grounding issue with the same outlet.
UPDATE: Simply plugging it into the charger and unplugging it only temporarily got the fingerprint scanner to work. I just ordered a replacement phone. The fingerprint reader has turned into utter crap on this phone.
Sometimes the sensor doesn't read my fingerprint for 8-10 times. Just keeps vibrating. I need to hold and press my finger dead centre to unlock. Is that how it actually works? Although sometimes it unlocks even just a partial touch. Also sometimes it doesn't respond at all. Is it a hardware problem?

maybe you set up your finger wrongly. try setting it up again. my fingerprint sensor works 99% of the times from the first time.

Yes maybe you did a faulty first setup. Set it up again but very careful this time.

I have deleted and setup the fingerprint multiple times. Each time it works for one or two days flawlessly. Then starts giving problems. Especially when running music player, it'll will never read. Well, I think I'll take it to the service center when I have time as the service center is in a different city.

Try to download the latest FULL-OTA, if the issue is still present, take it to the service center

I didn't get to go to the service centre. But i resolved the problem. I just added one more fingerprint of a different finger and now it works all the time. And is fast too. Don't know what that's got to do with that.

Yeah it is strange. If I delete the second fingerprint. It becomes problematic.

I made a setup for both left 'n right fingers too, because i've noticed from 1st day that when i was using the finger used in the setup there was no problems unlocking phone, meanwhile when i was tryin' to unlock with the other one my phone was just keep vibrating as yours. To me this is not a defect, but a clear sign of an even more accuracy placed inside this sensor. Think about it; your left fingerprint isn't the same of the right, because it just CAN'T be equal to the right one! So even if some line could match the other finger, the sensor detects a difference between one and the other and avoid the unlock. I registered my 2nd finger happy after that i thought this
Try to register the same finger twice with evwry different agnle. It will work almost ?% times
man i'm experiencing this too! but the difference is our phone. mine is honor 10 but like i've said i'm experiencing the exact same issue!! tried to do full reset still not working. i even try to register my first fingerprint data but no result. strangely, when my phone is off, and i tried to use the fingerprint, my phone was woke up! i do not understand what kind of bug is this but hopefully as the time goes it will resolved itself:angel:
I have problem with my finger print sensor of honor 6x sometimes it works or sometimes it doesnt show the option of fingerprint, when it doesn't show it messege hardware is not available tell me the solution.

Before the solution it'd be useful to know if this is an hardware issue or software one. Can you tell more about? Problems began after some drop to the floor or normally from one day to the next one? Stock or custom ROM?
When my P30 is placed on the table (I don't notice when in my pocket, duh ) it lights up the "Place finger here" in the bottom.
Does anyone have an idea why that happens?
It's not like the table is moving or anything to trigger a read, so why is it showing?
Could it result in burn-in?
I have same problem, it could result in burning, but i have no idea why it shows up
It is annoying! I've turned it off in favor of a PIN to prevent burn-in
I wrote and email to Huawei and the replied rhat IT shouldnt result in burn-in.
And if I didn't want to risk it, I could turnering it off.
Not really a valid answer...

I'm surprised their IT is not aware of the latest OTA from last night, which is version 9.1.0.124(C431E3R2P2) and fixed the problem. The annoying fingerprint symbol no longer randomly appears but only if I move my phone (and in the pocket it would not show as the proximity sensor prevents that from happening, which I have tested).

I've kept it on. Normally I'm not the kind of guy who uses one, but this was placed on very well I still find the screen to be excellent, it does not bother me. Have you immediately pulled yours off or can you describe a before/after experience?

I just tested at my desk and it came up 9 times in a minute.
I still have the protector on. Never removed it as it is placed nicely.

Is that the standard P30 you have on .124? My P30 is on .113.
I have this issue too, the symbol shows up several times a minute. I have seen others mention elsewhere that this could well be a hardware issue?
I'd just assumed this was a software issue but if it is hardware then it may be time to return it?

Yes, it's standard version... After I bought it (first day), phone was updated with this version ...
After I switch off the phone (and put it on the table), symbol shows up for a few seconds, then disappear until I move the phone ..
Maybe you should try first with .124 version .. ?
Hi
My p30 is on 115 update and still has the same problem
Anyone try without or with a different screen protector?
I have found some kind of solution, but by some reason it does not work all the time. Settings- Smart assistance- Shortcuts & gestures - wake screen - Double-tap screen to wake. Activate that option and reboot the device.
But as I can see, that light might be used as some kind of notification light since it blinks when there is something, like e-mail, message and other things that need attention. When there is no internet connection it is not blinking until you move it.
All of the above are just my personal observations and I don't insist that they are 100% correct.
Having this act as a notification indicator isn't a bad theory, although the frequency of it appearing seems wrong for that kind of use.
Personally, I'm bummed at the lack of notification light, something I had been relying on for years with all my previous phones. I might end up taking advantage of the OLED screen and just make it keep the screen on instead.
My phone updated from 111 to 121 today (I guess we have different build numbers in North America), I still see it flashing from time to time while it sits on my desk.
Update: I tried with a tempered glass screen protector and now it doesn't show up unannounced anymore.
I think it is an issue with sensitivity of the screen.
