After them asking me loads of questions over a few emails - which is not a good sign to start with - they eventually agreed to exchange the phone.
They arranged a courier and my phone was picked up Monday and they received it Tuesday and.......that's it. I have quite literally not heard anything back from them in 3 days. No update to say what's going on, it just says they are "inspecting" my phone.
Considering I'd only had my phone 5 days when I returned it I'd say this is pretty poor customer service. I would have been better just saying I wanted to return it for a refund and then just buying another one.
Lmao

Same with me. Had the phone less than 24 hours when my screen stopped working. Got a shipping label last weekend, sent it in Monday morning, delivered 9 am Tuesday. They said the entire replacement process, including shipping would take maximum 3-7 business days. Specifically, inspection would take 2 business days from delivery. I requested an update on Thursday (2 business days from delivery) and they said they've requested an update on the inspection, which would take another 24-48 hours from that point. Okay..
I finally got an update from them on Friday. They had received my phone back from whoever repaired it but now I have to wait for them to send it back to me which they won't do until Monday at least.
Did you say "repaired it?" That's unacceptable, ypu should get a brand new replacement. I had similar issue with my previous Samsung S8+. They sent me the new phone before even receiving the faulty one. OnePlus can do better than this. So technically your phone is now a refurbished phone

I doubt they can actually do better - this is a premium but heavily discounted phone. You are paying $400 less for less tech support.

Yea I agree, shouldn't settle for repairs within the return window. They wanted to repair mine, I told them I want a replacement and that's what they're doing now.
I agree. Old statement of, "Not asking=NO" still stands true. Good for you to be persistent and getting rewarded with a new phone?
I complained about my tempered glass protector not sticking properly and they sent me a free replacement out even though I bought it through O2 all I had to do was show them pic of proof of purchase and boom!! arrived in days , turns out it was just not square on the screen and rubbing on the case once I re aplied it was fine , oops [emoji849] oh well brand new spare ! I contacted them back today after 2 days, they again asked for 1-2 days to receive a response from the service center. Really, it takes them 4 business days for a simple status update from the service center? This is really devolving into a sad exercise in patience.
terrible customer support
Pasting this from a new thread I created...
Oneplus customer support said in regards to my files being randomly deleted, "You should just backup your stuff with google drive". Is that really the solution? Just expect my files to be erased and have to recover from backup after each reboot? Most of the customer support people never understand my problems that I am trying to tell them and I can hardly understand them either. Sorry for ranting a bit. I was excited to get rid of my galaxy s7 and try something new that I was told has good rom support and little no bloat on stock ROM, but I've been very disappointed. I guess after seeing their customer support is partnered with Acer it makes sense.
Yes, there customer support is awful and I would avoid buying any of their products.
My phone developed a faulty usb-c port. They offered a repair free of charge. Phone picked up by UPS on Monday and returned fully repaired on the following Friday with updated software. They didn't mind that bootloader was unlocked and that it was rooted. I just had to unlock bootloader again when it arrived back.

I had an issue with my OnePlus 6 as well, the audio output in the headphone jack was not okay (less bass and bad sound quality), so I contacted Amazon and they took my complaint and said the phone will be replaced with no issues, they told me that an engineer will come at my address the next day to troubleshoot my phone and see if it is fixable or not, and if not he'll make a report and confirm is "unfixable". Funny thing is, the engineer didn't even come at my place and called me up saying, "tell the Amazon customer support I had come and troubleshooted your phone. I'll send you the report on WhatsApp". So two hours after the engineer's call, I called up Amazon saying he came at my place. They sent me a replacement the next day and my phone got replaced.
Forgot about this post!
From them collecting my phone it took just over a week to get it back. But they sent me a new phone.
Some people would say this is good service but I don't think it is. As I'd only had the phone a few days I think they should have done a straight swap. If I didn't have a spare phone lying around then I would have been without a phone for this period.

I too received a faulty tempered glass and I sent them pictures of it not sticking properly.
I have been following up with for 21 days now.
They first promised to deliver the tempered glass on June 25th but when I called they said it is out of stock (when it is clearly in stock on their website).
Then they said they will deliver on Sat (today) and when I called they said I will receive a PHONE CALL from their senior today.
It is almost half day gone and there has been NO PHONE call yet.

Thinking of getting the black version. Though I'm wondering if it's safe to order from them, since I've never tried before. Has anyone done so here? Also, I heard they jack up prices by as much as +$20, but I can't find the same item at eBay. If anyone knows a better site to order this from, please share.
P.S. Though I have seen this case for much cheaper at Aliexpress, I'm not ordering from them since they do not support PayPal, and I've heard many horrible stories from dealing with their merchants.
Thanks in advance!
It's at dx-box.com for around $30. And they do PayPal.
I don't see any speaker cut-outs, not sure how that would sound... Other than that, looks like a nice case, not sure if the case would interfere with Wifi and Signal though

It seems to work the same as the Element Eclipse case (routes the speaker hole to the front of the phone). As for signal, yeah, I'm aware of the issues with aluminum cases/bumpers. I'm willing to risk it since the case just looks so freaking sexy.
Btw, DX-BOX is legit, right? Because I'm ready to pull the trigger.

I've seen that case on ebay. Search for "saber s4 case". Looks nice but I have to wonder about how the signal strength may be affected. That and the weight.
What is strange is that a few of the auction descriptions say to take off the battery cover before using the case.
I'm willing to give it a shot. Ordered from DX-BOX two nights ago, and my order is listed as "processing". Already ready to make a PayPal dispute in case things get messy, though I hope it doesn't come to that.
I don't mind the weight either, since I like a bit of heft on my phones anyway and the S4 weighs virtually nothing.

True that. Was really no contest when it came down to the price. Just waiting for my order to be shipped out. Still says "Processing" at the moment after two days.
Well it's been 5 days since my order, and it hasn't been shipped yet. Still says "Processing", when they replied back to my complaint saying they would ship 1-2 days after I sent them my message (it's been 4 days).
Thinking of filing a PayPal dispute if a week passes with no news. Not looking good so far.
UPDATE: Been more than a week since I placed my order, and still no tracking number. "Ray" has responded to my emails but hasn't given me a tracking number yet. I understand shipping delays and everything, but I don't even have a tracking number to work with.

Hey guys!
I just ordered a metal battery door replacement for my GS4 from Casefanatic. I have to say it looks absolutely gorgeous, but functionality went down the drain. I get really bad reception with the metal back battery door.

That being said, I'm only assuming that their metal cases may give the same problem, but I may be wrong.
On another note, I bought TWO battery doors since they had some sale going on. The battery doors are essentially plastic doors with a thin metal sheet glued onto them. I ordered two black, they sent me one white and one black.
After contacting customer service...
Hello Eugene,
Sorry, it seems we do not have the black frames, so they sent the white frames instead, without notifying me.
If you wish to return them, please return the case, using any standard cheap post $2 - $12, to:
Mod Edit – Some content removed
We will refund you once we receive the case.

So because of this and the fact that my connectivity gets cut, I will be sending them back.
They are overseas (China), so shipping takes a while. Customer service seems fairly speedy however. I got a response back within the same day, so they don't seem so bad!
Although I have to pay for shipping to refund the thing, at least I'll get most of my money back. Hopefully the refund process goes smooth. I'll let you guys know!

EDIT: To the above posts with that whole "Processing" thing on the tracking website. I had the exact same thing. It said "Processing" for about a week, then suddenly showed up at my door. But whatever.. I'm hoping this refund thing goes down smooth...

I got my 16GB black n5 in today and it is pretty defect free. there is one dead pixel in the middle of the device that I can only imagine will drive me crazy when im looking at the device for extended periods of time
is there any rush to RMA this device? it has a year warranty from google right? if i waited 1-6 months to let the hype die down and let the people with real defects get their replacements, would i still be able to contact google and get a free replacement for the dead pixel?
How did you check for the dead pixel? I used an app and couldn't find anything. Ether I'm very lucky or just can't notice them.

i think you're lucky. i have what looks like one dead pixel about an inch down from the middle of the top of the screen. it stays black no matter what color the 'dead pixel test' apps flash the screen.
i dont notice it until i notice it lol, which usually happens when im scrolling something(home screen, website, etc)
the phone doesn't have any other reported issues. only a tiny bit of backlight bleeding, but i think that's ok. and the power button does rattle, but only a tiny tiny bit. if it weren't for the dead pixel, i wouldn't even be thinking about returning it.
i just feel that some people have truly unusable devices, and if I RMA mine now, then it can delay theirs. i just wanna be sure i could RMA it in like 3-6 months or so
Me too
i have a dead pixel on my n5 as well. check out my post with the pic
Danggit, I'm in a similar situation. About an inch up from the bottom middle-right of the screen, there's a bright green cluster of pixels plaguing me. I've tried apps to fix dead pixels, but it doesn't seem to be fixing it. Google is going to get me a replacement, but I hope they don't ask me to send back my phone before I get a new one. This is my only phone I have access to!

from what i hear. they put a 350 dollar hold on your account(an additional one). you then need to print out an RMA form and put it in the original box. when the replacement phone arrives you will be able to give the UPS guy your old phone in the box(or they ship you an additional box that you need to drop off or schedule to have them pick it up). once they get the defective phone they will release the hold on the funds so that it goes back into your account.
i hear they have replacement stock too, so you wont have to wait 4+ weeks in order to get a new one

Customer service told me today to expect 3-4 weeks for a replacement unit to even ship out. I just charged my phone for the first time last night, and it got down to 5% battery with 11 hours of standby. I had no apps running, and I had not even touched my phone once while at work. This is a bit disheartening for me since my old Nexus 4 would have 70-80% power left even after all the hours of being untouched while at work.

My replacement order says 2-3 weeks for delivery, I don't have any reason to think it's going to be any sooner. A question I've posed to Google but haven't received an answer on is that the replacement receipt says I have 21 days to return the unit being replaced. However, it also says I can either return it now or wait until I receive the replacement.
So, a bit of a contradiction there. Still not sure if I have to return within the 21 days or if I can wait until the replacement arrives. I've already given my Nexus 4 to my daughter, so I'm without a phone if I send this one in. Grrr.

Dude, I have zero dead pixels & only a tiny bit of light bleed. My speaker is loud & I don't have any buttons rattling. My screen colors are wonderful & my battery is performing brilliantly.
I have been using my device pretty regularly today which included 90 minute of GPS, WHILE WiFi tethering on AT&T's LTE network. Bluetooth was on as well. This was over an hour ago, currently at 10 hours 16 minutes w/ 59% battery remaining.

Interesting that Google and shops are offering RMAs on just 1 dead pixel. On a much larger desktop LCD display of the same resolution you would have to have a much higher number before they even consider an RMA.
Also the pixels are so small on our phones that one dead one is really of no concern - unless perhaps it is a hot pixel, i.e stuck on white, but even then I doubt it will be of much concern.
I am very fussy about dead/hot pixels - so when I purchase a computer monitor I make sure to get one with a hot pixel warranty, and a good dead pixel policy (low acceptable rate).
My Nexus 5 has one dead pixel, but it is so tiny I forget where it is and have to get the right colour to even see the tiny thing. I certainly would not consider replacing it.
Not to mention that if any dust gets in the phone it's going to look like a dead pixel anyway - and it'll happen one day.
Just use your phone, as you normally would. I'm sure you'll not even notice it.

i think that 75% of the reports of dead pixels is actually dust between the glass and the screen
I called in my RMA on Monday afternoon. Tuesday night I received the email for RMA and placed the order. My order status just updated to "leaves warehouse on 11/26/13" a few hours ago - no idea how accurate that is but when I ordered from the RMA, it was the same wait time as retail Google Play orders (2-3 weeks). I think in the past people just get a full retail order, not a "service model" the way Apple does things.
Last monday, 4 days after having owned the phone, it fell to a plain floor and the screen broke completely. Touch is not working

Here is a tear down of the phone.
Its not easy to fix and the parts are going to be hard to source because of limited production.
I already received a reply. 147€ total cost including shipping to get it repaired.

Hi
Did you hear back from them. I also dropped my phone 2 weeks back.
My guess is it's going to be in the range of $200, which is half the cost.
Do you know of any other place where the repairs can happen.

That isn't that bad for a replacement from the manufacturer. It's not a repair you send them your broken phone and they send you a new one. I would pay that if I smashed mine.

My guess is it's going to be in the range of $200, which is half the cost.
Do you know of any other place where the repairs can happen.
thanks

That isn't that bad for a replacement from the manufacturer. It's not a repair you send them your broken phone and they send you a new one. I would pay that if I smashed mine.

The same thing just occurred me, I have only had my phone for a week and I have sent a couple of customer services tickets without a response yet its probably only been a day or so. Here is an image of the damage I think. Does everyone get a new phone when the request an RMA of this type or do they repair it. I really hope I get a Brand New one. Thanks.

Last monday, 4 days after having owned the phone, it fell to a plain floor and the screen broke completely. Touch is not working
I contacted support back then and they told me they offered "paid replacement services" but I've yet to hear from them again despite multiple replies and RMA request (6 days without a reply)
Would there be a way to do it on my own?

No presents!
If someones screen is cracked the repair costs are higher than the price of a new device!
To replace the screen is also hardly possible. Check ifixit on that!
Shipping to Chine comes on top.
If someone will sell a broken One for a fair price, just poke me!

so its better to get a brand new phone rather than get one thats damaged to be fixed.
May be relevant, doesn't seem too expensive:

Well guys/gals my Note 3 screen has decided to delaminate itself 2 weeks after the warranty ended. It started out as a couple small lines and is gradually getting worse and worse adding new lines often.

I'm only two weeks past my one year warranty period so I decided to email Samsung about it. I described the exact issue with a photo and sent it off last night. I got a reply back this morning, not even 12hrs later on a weekend with what was almost an automated response back. The person or robot on the other end didn't read or understand my issue and responded back with a typical copy and paste customer response. I provided the picture you see below and they replied...
Thank you for contacting Samsung Customer Care.
I see that there is a dot on the screen and you would like to fix the issue.
I am sorry to know about and I do understand your concern.
If you are using any screen protector, please remove it and check for the results.
In case if the issue persists, it need to be examined with the authorized service technician.

They then go on about if it's under warranty do this and if not do that when their form asks for a purchase date and they know if it's still warrantied. Is it so hard to actually get in touch with someone who cares more than simply creating another statistic.
I'm sad that my phone self destructed and I'm sad that Samsung customer service stinks.
Delaminate? Maybe I'm reading the photo wrong but it looks like some deep scratches to me.
No scratches, the digitizer is delaminating from the glass.

And what proves that?
It was shown to a Samsung service tech... same issue as this one - http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/help/problem-screen-t2231143 and it's almost that long now.
But hey, thanks for the moral support, it's been great defending my post. I'm already in the dumps so I thought posting here and making it worse would be a good idea.
Defensive much?

Not really. It's not as if anyone suggested you were lying.
Anyway, I'm unsure where you got the idea that you're two weeks past your warranty period, Samsung phones come with a 24 month warranty, and as the Note 3 was only released 13 months ago, you're pretty much guaranteed to have this fixed by them if what you're suggesting is the fault is true. They can only do so much with a photo, you need to send the handset to them.

That's just for us, because the EU enforces the 24 months warranty period to protect customers.
He's from Canada, and they only get 12 months.
Christ, that must be annoying.
Here's what it looks like today. Correct on only 12 months warranty but the service fella that I spoke with may help me out. Going to see him tomorrow, fingers crossed.
I can confirm this problem, cause a friend of me have the same problem on his Note 3.
Have you tried turning it off and on again?
Sorry couldnt resist..same thing happened to my s3 exactly 2 years after purchase, its like the gel filler underneath the glass starts to breakdown, then air gets in and the real problems begin. Quite scary really. You can replace the digitizer and glass but they are never the same again.
Sent from my SM-N9005 using XDA Free mobile app
Lol
It has been quite the interesting ordeal. I watched it go from a tiny thing to what you see in the last pic. Seems as though it changes every few hours or so.
Would screen protectors and the such help prevent bthis problem? Or is it something that is naturally bound to happen to the device?

Negative, this is an internal issue and as such cannot be helped by exterior cosmetic protection. If this starts to happen you're pretty much fu*ked as far as saving or preventing it goes. Best thing to do is send it back to Samsung or if your warranty is up, repair it through 3rd party.

Well s**t. I know that this is an internal issue but do we know if there's anything that accelerates this process or that increases the chances of this happening? Better yet, do we know about ways to delay it better yet to prevent it? I want my phone to last somewhat longer than 2 years!

I'm guessing there aren't ways to prevent it directly, just looking after your phone properly, not dropping it, not leaving it in open arid environments (like around seawater for example). As far as I am aware this isn't a widely reported issue, and has never been isolated to just Samsung but seems Samsung has the most issues (though still quite rare). Maybe it is a manufacturing fault at some point with a minority of handsets.

Are you new to the Note 3? I have just sold my LG G3 to come to Note 3.
Until today, I've been concerned that, having delivered two Pixel 5 trade-ins to my local Post Office on the morning of Tuesday, October, 18, USPS tracking showed that, since Thursday and Friday, respectively, of last week, they were stuck, "moving through the network", in Nashville, not yet out for delivery. Today, however, I received two emails from Google acknowledging receipt of the phones and their moving to the assessment stage of the trade-in process. The USPS tracking status hasn't changed, however.

Same thing here but the wife got a email from Google this morning saying the $$ for the trade in are being credited to my payment method. I think I had the same thing happen a few years ago trading a phone in to Google.
My two Pixel 6 Pros were stuck "Moving through Network" since early morning Friday, October 21st. They still both show that status with USPS tracking, but yesterday I got an email that the one had arrived, and the Google Store does show that they are accessing it. The second one, as of this morning, still hadn't arrived.
I've noticed with trade-ins that it's similar to some (not all) Amazon returns I've made. They give me a "shipping label", and have me drop it off at the post office. Then the tracking shows them not really going anywhere but handed off (I forget the exact terminology they use). It's like the post office doesn't really ship (or in the case of our phone trade-ins, deliver) in a normal fashion despite them looking like they do. As if the post office is just some central drop-off point. In Amazon return cases, I typically get an acknowledgment of the return is complete within 24 hours, but these device trade-ins are harrowing.
I chose trade-in instead of selling on Swappa because I figured the selling price of them would go down tremendously with all the people upgrading - and I believe I've confirmed it did happen that way.

Whatever the Swappa prices were pre-launch, now they're much less than Google offered. Both our Pixel 5s are in good condition--having always lived in cases and had screen protectors. Google offered (up to $400). If they come through, that looks to be c. $200 more than one could get selling on Swappa.

looks like you faired better than me. my trade in is "in transit" from that Nashville hub and Google says they don't have it. it's been over a week. it's making me nervous. it's a Galaxy Note20 Ultra. if they lose it I basically lost over $500

I hope yours is acknowledged arrived at Google very soon. Mine was acknowledged arrived at Google five days (yesterday) after the first day that the tracking said "Moving through network" in or around Nashville. My refund got credited this evening.
This morning my wife's phone hadn't arrived at Google yet, but it has now, thankfully.
Both post office tracking still say "Moving through network". Crazy.

Better than mine lol... Shows it was delivered on the 24th and my trade-in status shows still waiting for device. USPS was slow on delivering the kit as well and delayed the process even further. I hope by next week they acknowledge receiving the device and I don't have to contact Google Support.

Dropped mine off at usps on the 18th and still nothing.
It’s been in Nashville over a week now.
Says..
Moving Through Network
In Transit, Arriving Late
So you’re not alone, I’ve got 700 bucks riding on this.
In the UK i could not find a Post Office that could send my trade in kit back to Google so i gave up and ended up taking my Pixel 6 Pro to CEX.
It took like 10 days and they finally got my Pixel 4a and I got $300 for it which I was happy because I got it on sale for that much originally. Lol...

I'm in the same boat. My Pixel 6 Pro has been in transit from the Nashville hub since the 21st as well. They offered me $600 trade in value. I did some searching and from what others have said Google will still give the trade in value they assesed as long as you have proof the phone was shipped. They will have to do a lost mail claim with USPS and that takes around 10 days. Reading that makes me fill a little better but I'm still nervous as hell.
well then, got an email just now from Google. they have it but usps tracking still says in transit.
I just received an email from Google telling me that one of the two Pixel 5s mailed to them as trade-ins has been valued at the full estimated amount of $400. I still await word on the second phone.
In the grand scheme of all things shipping...USPS is far behind UPS, and FedEx, here in the USA IMO.
USPS still shows both my traded-in phones moving through the network. Meanwhile, Google has emailed acknowledgments that it has received both and assessed and refunded the full amount estimated on one of them.
