G6/G6+ cases & screen protectors - Moto G6 Accessories

Well, let's see how this develops...
As for a case, I got these two for starters:
https://www.amazon.de/Spigen%C2%AE-Elastisch-Stylisch-Handyh%C3%BClle-Schutzh%C3%BClle-RA-Schwarz/dp/B07B9SKC5K/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1527018512&sr=8-1&keywords=motorola+g6+plus+h%C3%BClle+spigen&dpID=510FXckhR3L&preST=_SY300_QL70_&dpSrc=srch
https://www.amazon.de/iBetter-Shock...pID=51XML3FlA7L&preST=_SY300_QL70_&dpSrc=srch
I like the Spigen better, they do quality cases for a reasonable price. Look and feel is way better than the iBetter.

Hi @Howlbeck,
I don't recommend the first one... I have a similar one for my Moto G5+ and it makes the phone very big. It's pure plastic!
For the second case, it may be thinner. So if you purchase it, please comment about it.
Any idea for a good screen protector?
Regards.

i bought mine like the first one and its really thin but it can absorb some falls and protects camera .

Sure! here you are:
I cant take a photo of my phone wearing it because i havent other device.

Same here - only difference: my one has "spigen" plus the logo imprinted. The other 2 pics are the IBetter.

To be honest, Manos:
I don't like cases at all, but I need them to give me some protection for my clumsyness... ;o)
When I'm at home or at stationary work, the case(s) comes off.
The one Motorola includes with the device is ok, but... Big but.
I do like soft, transparent cases - but they tend to fade to yellowish pretty quick, doesn't matter if you are smoking yourself or not.
As there is no soft transparent case available as of yet - the Spigen it is.

Me too!
I'll continue searching for a very lighty case.
Thank you!

Can anyone suggest me a case that adds grip to the phone since the glass back makes it very slippery? Too bad dbrand's grip case is not available for the Moto g6 plus .

As there are not many cases available right now, I think any case gives you a better grip currently. It's a matter of getting used to handling it without a case - as mentioned above, being inside I don't use cases - only while being outdoors as mentioned above.
As for cases making the phone bigger - well
The G6+ already is big, so I don't really care about a few more mms as long as it protects the device properly. Spigen did a very good job in the past, so I tend to coming back.

Compared to our Nexus 6P (Huawei) - this is "smaller" overall, barely bigger (taller, mostly) than the old Nexus 5X (LG) but - between Mrs. and myself, one of us will be using it. For an entry/budget Project Fi phone priced at $199 + tax, free shipping, I am very pleased with how it feel, look & setting it up, waiting for the case to arrive (delayed in transit ... by a day)
This is what I ordered, found it on Amazon - not a major "brand" name but appeared to provide the extra protections that we usually look for, and should not be too bulky. Otherwise, it does feel slippery especially with one-handed mode and we are know, sooner or later, it will be dropped accidentally - a little extra help on the corners & edges won't hurt. If a better & nicer case come up, I don't have a problem spending more or having an extra one around.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07DCKVM5B/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Once I get that, will put up pictures & have a side-by-side with the N6P (and, most likely, before I ship out the N5X ... battery is starting to not hold its charge, taking advantage of the "generous" trade-in allowance valued at $95, not bad - net cost to get the G6 is something I can live with, i.e. minus NFC, no G.Pay)
Been using Supershieldz's Glass screen protector and pleased with it, got 2 of them, so always have a spare around, just in case - put it on easily this afternoon, almost got it perfectly but at 98.5% - missed 2 spots with tiny dust trapped, but, who's going to notice it when device is powered on - only notice it when screen is dark/blank or powered off. Here's what they look like now.

Hi,
Regarding the screen protector, someone has used this "full screen" version?
https://www.amazon.co.uk/SDTEK-Moto...ns&keywords=SDTEK+Motorola+Moto+G6+Plus&psc=1
The other option is the "classic" glass:

I like to know the difference.

The first one has the cutoff around the earpiece, speaker & front camera openings, covered the front of the smartphone all around (and it's priced higher) ... should be precision cut - careful alignment & placement when installing is a must.
The second one is easier for them to produce with the simple cut out, and "could" leave some of the digitizer/screen area "less" protected ... installation is basically the same but a very slight misaligned placement should still be fine during the installation process. It's similar to the one that I just installed yesterday - with a protective bumper case over it, the odds of scratching or damaging the Gorilla glass is still fairly low. Plus, I make it a habit to always order an extra spare & set it aside, just in case - the old one that I used on the Nexus 5X has a lifetime & free replacement warranty, no questions asked - just proof of it being worn/damaged & they quickly mail a new one at no charge (worth paying a little more for those brands upfront).
On a side note, this Moto G6 ... is "cute" and slim, feel "small" in the hand but with the 5.7" widescreen ratio, is very nice for the price level - too slippery to use without a case when holding it (especially with the glass back.)

The full one has the black border on it, which also covers up the works motorola which I like...here is a pic of my wifes phone with the screen protector and an amazon case
Screen Protector x2 $6.98: https://www.ebay.com/itm/2X-ZenTech...ector-Guard-For-Motorola-Moto-G6/332666677282
Case $8.98 : https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07B4YHKTP

My Amazon G6 case arrived, and it came also with a clip-on face plate for belt carry ... something that is "nice" but I dislike, the hardware/spring doesn't look solid & could break - won't be nice to drop this at a height of several feet, unlike using one of those bulky Otterbox. Not going to use it - I either carry mine in a pocket or otherwise, use a BDU-style canvas pouch (in black).
Here are pictures of the G6, it's in the middle, for comparison with the Nexus 6P (Huawei) and the (LG) Nexus 5X (without the same style protective case) "naked" on the right for comparison.
The HD glass protector do leave a little area around the front surface of the G6 without "coverage" - dusts & lints, dirts could collect around the rim of the case/frame, so a periodic cleaning will be necessary, see the 2 close-up pictures.
We also have the old Motorola Nexus 6 and that's "big" compared to these - the G6 is about the same size as my dual-sim Huawei Honor 5X which I use for travel - the Moto G6 is very comfortable & feel solid being held in one hand with the case, providing a non-slippery hold ... and, it slide right into my old canvas belt pouch for "rough" day-to-day carry outside.

Keep in mind the full ones only have the adhesive around the outer edges and can pop off easily if you don't have on a case that protects the edges. But at the cost, they last a long while in my experience and look great!

Hoping I can find N1 pouch some time soon(ish).

Possible stupid question
Does using a screen protector degrade the touch screen performance?
I used to have a T-Mobile Vario II and never used a protector and got away with it. The phone went in my pocket and did clash with keys and things occasionally, no detectable damage though.
Do screen protector users let their children out to play? Or are they correct to take care?
Tom
Not at all i notice no difference using a screen protector.

Just bought it for £9.95 just need my desire now
Screen protector from Amazon UK (not tried it myself):
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Vikuiti-DQC-160-screen-protector-Desire/dp/B003CAQAAY/ref=sr_1_fkmr0_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1269823681&sr=8-1-fkmr0
I've ordered the Vikuiti ones and they are not good. From what I can see the cut-out is just a simple rectangle, it will not cover the full glass area of the phone but probably only the part that is actually displaying something. I find that utterly useless.
Now I've ordered the ones from BoxWave where they show how they did the cut-out on their website. That's the way it should be done...

There are a few on eBay claiming to be for the Desire but you can clearly see they dont match all the openings, eg, the flash.
Got this one - didn't really like it. Found it too stiff/hard.
If anyone wants to give it a go, I'll mail it for free within EU.
Whoever PMs me first with their address, gets it
EDIT: case was given-away to er_yeah.
i have just got a mofi case for £4.95 it seems fairly universal size but it is lined with micro fiber so it cleans your phone when you put it in.

Surely, you can get the nexus one silicon case (the ones that dont have the bottom covered where the desire buttons would be). They are practically the same size, give or take fractions of a mm here or there.
Anyone found a good silicone cover/skin yet?

Unicorn Beetle Case

Hi
My unicorn beetle case just arrive and I want to share my toughts with you.
First I order it from Amazon as I live in Chile the final cost was around 50 bucks.
I drop my first moto x 2014 (the one in the pics) and it screen shattered so a case for my new moto X was a must.
The case came in a really simple cardboard box, inside you find the 3 parts of the case:
- Front panel
- Back panel
- Belt clip holster
The plastic bag that contain them have a QR code with a link to a video of how asamble it but is really very easy.
The front panel have a integrated screen protector and only leave the mic, front camera and speaker unprotected (this is why this case is not waterproof).
The backpanel leaves the Motorola, the camera and the back mics unprotected also, but it have protectors for usb port and the audio jack.
The only fail that I notice is the holster, only once I was able to attach the phone to it, I haven't been able to do it again, it should be a lot more easier, but anyway I dind't plan to use it.
The phone dosn't gain a lot of weight and I still feel it comfortable.

15€ on Amazon.fr
any updates? i tried the link you posted but had no luck. i got my phone on jan 2,15 and havent yet been able to find a case i like for it.
I've had this case for about a week, and I have mixed feelings. It's a very rugged case, and I feel comfortable about the phone not being damaged. However, there are a few things I would change about this case if I could. First, since the case isn't waterproof, it could do without the integrated screen protector and headphone/power port covers. It takes a little bit of dexterity to hold the cover open just to plug in the charger. Secondly, the power and volume buttons could be more pronounced. I have accidentally turned off the screen many times while trying to adjust the volume.
I don't regret the purchase, though, and I'd definitely recommend it as an alternative to Otterbox.
I've had this case in white for just over a month, here are my impressions.
- sturdy case
- excellent quality
- great price
First thing I did was yank off the screen protector. It is a far better plan to apply something like a BSE skin than to keep using the screen protector that's included.
This means you can take off/on the case with little fuss as much as you want. Its easy to remove and seems up to the task of repeated removal.
The fact that the front of the phone sits in the trim piece is awesome. Makes for a sandwiched and protected feel.
I like the port covers. Yes, they can be a pain to pop open for time to time but again they also seem to be built well enough to take the abuse.
Since we don't have a waterproof phone but only the nanocoating inside I like the added ingress protection that they offer.
I have the white/grey case and it is gaining some darkness on the corners but I'll blame my grubby mitts on that one.
The holster is good not great. Phone sits well in it and feels well made. Too bad its missing the kickstand in the clip.
All in all I give it a 9/10.
For the price it sells for and the protection it offers its a no brainer.
Sent from my BambooX

I have it in white. Here are a few photos I took. The photo of the front is a bit blurry.. Sorry!
I've had one of these cases for a while. I only use it when at work and do a manual job with dust, grit, grime and angry bovines. Well they're not angry all the time! The case is the dark gray/black and is in not bad condition considering. The Moto X on the other hand is pristine despites drops out of open tractor doors, drops onto concrete and countless excursions onto cab floors.
The built in screen protector is useful as I don't have anything on my moto x 2014 screen. I tried a couple of the glass screen protectors but removed both after a short time with the edges lifting and dust getting under the lifted edges. I also like the port covers though agree both are a little tricky to open. That said I rarely open either when the case is fitted. On previous phones I've has dust and chaff get jammed in the usb port and once somehow managed to get an animal feed pellet stuck in the headphones jack.
When I ordered the Unicorn case, unbeknown to me the mrs had ordered me an Otterbox Defender case so have that as well. It seems to bulk the phone more than the Unicorn case and the rubber texture makes it less easy to remove from pockets. It is also harder to fit compared to the Unicorn but on the other hand you about need a tyre lever to remove the Unicorn. It's a good case but prefer the Unicorn. I say again I only use a case on my Moto X for work. For pleasure it goes bare
I ordered the Beetle case, and it is in my opinion, the best case I have tried for the phone.
Thanks for the suggestion

- The best out of those - Nilkin did a great jobe and follow the the back curves. Precision cuts. You need to hold nicely because its not so rubbery. Note 9
https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https://www.ebay.com/ulk/itm/183176796723
- Good case with a nice style. precisely cuts, follow the back curves. Note 7
https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https://www.ebay.com/ulk/itm/372276989136
- Horrible - It has protection because its almost like covering your cellphone with a tire. Note 2
Have one of these. Seems like it would take the blow should the phone fall screen first on a completely flat surface. The corners are somewhat hollow which makes them a bit softer than the rest of the case. I guess it's around 1.3mm thick and sticks out 0.65mm above the screen. It seems to provide some extra grip but is not really comfortable to hold. It's cheap atleast.

I purchased the Roxfit Precision Slim Soft Touch Shell. If you like something slim that will provide some minor protection to the back and corners this is a great case. Everything lines up and it doesnt hinder any usage of the fingerprint scanner at all. Its pretty thin so like i said this will probably only prevent minor damage.

I did purchase those screen protectors as well. The problem with these is they do not sit perfectly on the edge of the curved part of the screen. Your left with a slightly raised edge that is going to accumulate grime and debris around the border of the screen protector. However it does fit with the slim case and the 2 do not conflict with each other in any way. That being said if your have noticed the screen sensitivity issue at all then your are REALLY going to notice it with this on. I find myself having to hit the same button 2 or more times especially if the part of the screen I am tapping is closer to the edge of the screen. I would only recommend getting this right now if your in desperate need of the protection it may offer. If not then I may hold off until Sony fixes whatever issue is going on with their screen sensitivity.

If not then I may hold off until Sony fixes whatever issue is going on with their screen sensitivity.

hi thanks for the answer. I already have glass protector applied, I got the version smaller than the front panel so it covers only the real screen actually, still it has the same problem on the sides coming a little apart and accumulating dust, so I wondered if the curved one would have been better. if it is not I'll stay with the one I have now, thank you!
about the sensitivity problem, I didn't try without the protector, as I applied it as soon as I received the phone, I can fill it sometimes especially when scrolling items, I have to put more pressure than usual, but it is not a so big problem for me atm.
Just ordered these 2 cases and set of screen protectors. Will update when they arrive.
I ordered the two manufactured by Nillkin (the hard plastic, and the flexible ones), I will report back when I get them.
I already have the one that imitates leather, and has a V letter on the back. It's pretty bad in my opinion, make the phone less comfortable, the fit is not great, and it doesn't add any protection to the screen (minimally raised borders). Wouldn't recommend it unless you want to go for the absolutely cheapest.

didn't you return your xz2c because of the screen sensitivity problem? just curious
I did return it, but my device had also a dead pixel. So after I saw the same screen sensitivity issue in the Huawei p20 and p20 pro I started believing that this is an Oreo issue as was explained in some other thread... And I ordered another xz2c
So if Sony doesn't resolve the touch screen issue themselves, probably it will be solved by Google in the next major Android update.
It bugs me, but I can live with it, and I want to believe it will be resolved. Basically I don't see any other phone that will fulfill me in battery life + 2018 SoC + not huge size. My only alternative would be a S9 with lineage OS, but buying an expensive phone with the intention of voiding warranty on day 1 is not a good approach I think.
Probably the Xiaomi mi7 would be a good alternative, but we're months away from its release.
No phone is perfect, so I prefer something that fits my pocket and I don't have to charge in the middle of the day, even if it means a poor gaming experience.

well said i agree all points and not to mention s9 users, treble or not, i really don't think will get a fully functioning los, with perfect cam quality like stock etc, or at least not immediately! plus s8/s9 are already too big for me, and TW is not an option at all. mi7 also will be bigger than this one.
yeah I'm following that thread and saw what you guys realized, I'm happy it is not a Sony problem so this is probably going to be sorted out.
I'm really enjoying this phone, not perfect of course but has many pros, and dimensions are wonderful.
will wait for your feedbacks about covers and glasses.. bye!

I thought the same about the S8 and S9 at the beginning, but I ended getting a S8 last year and it's very comfortable in hand, despite the size.
I understand you have different preferences, I don't need my phone to be compacts, but I don't want to be huge. Let's say the S8/S9 is my limit. Something like a Oneplus, the bigger XZ2, etc. would be uncomfortable for me. Maybe I will buy a Mi7 later this year, but I doubt it.
Well the screen protectors were fail, they didn't grip around the curved screen edge at all. The Olixar case sux, it's very slippery and prone to finger prints. I do like the Kugi case, it's grippy and it feels stout and durable. The raised edges also will protect the screen well if u lay the phone screen down.
I got this one: https://www.amazon.com/Colorful-Ult...d=1525256695&sr=8-1&keywords=xz2+compact+case
Really happy with it, great case.
This is the case I got: http://a.co/4iwmOZU
I quite like it and just left a review with photos. I definitely recommend looking at my photos, as the actual product is a little different than the mock-ups. Particularly on the corners.

Does it have raised edges in order to protect the screen? If not, do you use a screen protector?

It does not. I plan to get a glass screen protector once a good one exists.
Olixar FlexiShield
I've tried a Olixar FlexiShield. It fits tight on the phone, creates an edge maybe 1mm above the screen, it's smooth and comfortable to touch and hold.
There's no extra padding in the corners and the buttons become difficult to operate.
for less than 10 €, i'am very satisfy
this one is not realy elegant but give a very good protection for 5€ FPI !
this one is elegant and thin as a 2nd skin
but don't give a big protection for 5€ FPI !
i baught those 2 on amazon.fr in the marketplace here :

Olixar ArmourDillo OnePlus 6

Hi guys,
I figured i would chip in with my mini-review of Olixar ArmourDillo for our beloved OP6. I was looking for a heavy-duty protection as I often bring my OP6 to places where the risk of damaging is a bit higher (e.g. to a kids playground when going out with my daughter or warehouse where i work) or do things which are not exactly deemed as "safe" such as pulling the phone out of my backpack, which is still on my back, with my left hand, though i'm right handed, while cycling, on a rough terrain I was also looking for a case with a stand option but don't really fancy a flip case. Spiegen for some reason didn't include the kickstand in the OP6 rugged armor so I was actually not really left with many other options.
I ordered one last weekend directly from official Olixar web pages, and it arrived in about 3 working days. Price was around 17 EUR including delivery.
I immediately installed it and those are my findings:
PROs:
- very solid construction of the case.
- fantastic grip!
- very good protection of the camera (case overlaps with a VERY safe margin)
- all ports and alert slider are easily accessible and buttons work nicely.
- makes FP easier to use - the opening in the case kind of "guides" your finger to the FP scanner
- kickstand (some might see it as a CON, but not me).
- didnt have the chance to try (yet) but i think there is enough margin around the screen to make the case compatible with the official or other TGSPs (e.g. orzly) -> I am expecting Orzly TGSP delivered in the coming week so i will be able to test.
CONs:
- the case is not exactly a "snug fit". I could already tell it was "too easy" to put the base on and I was hoping that clicking the exoskeleton on would "lock" the phone in, but that's not exactly happening. Even with the exoskeleton on the case can be removed.
- the case overlap from the screen side could have been bigger. It overlaps by merely 1 mm, or perhaps even less (definitely less than the original case provided with the device). I worry that if the phone dropped on the corner-screen side than the slack I described in the first point would actually allow the screen/TGSP to touch the ground and crack.
IMAGES
CONCLUSION:
In general I am quite happy with the purchase and the case undoubtedly provides some serious protection to our phone...though i'd be much happier if the case was a little bit tighter.
So does the case overlap the screen protector (i assume that's what you mean by tgsp?)? Thanks for the review!

Congrats, well that's one way to announce it
BTW, any do you also have the official tempered glass and any idea if it will support it?

Allright so i think the armourdillo is pretty much orzly tgsp compatible.
To answer your question, no, i dont, but i doubt the official tgsp is bigger than the one from orzly, and even if so then probably not by much. There is still enough margin so i think you should not have any problems with the official one either.
Good luck!

Thanks for the great review. I'm interested to hear more about the grip. I bought a UAG Plasma for my OP6, and even though it looks grippy, it's not. All the contoured bits are slippery, hard plastic. I dropped the phone a number of times in the couple of days I used the UAG.
I find the gel cases the best, but with cold, dry hands, even they get a bit slippery.
How does this case go with cold, dry hands? And how useful are the hard plastic contours on the back? And what about the base - where your pinky grips it when typing with one hand? Is that section soft TPU or hard plastic?
Thanks heaps in advance.
Cheers
Glenn

s10 led back caee

Can we make our own led effects ?
No, only with flip case.. thats crazy i brought this cover to make own animation/icons but led back cover has limited option and i dont understand why ;(

it seems to only work with Samsung only apps, maybe there are some XDA Devs that can work there way around it.
Hi,
I have mine for one week.
It's a really beautiful case which deserves the design of my S10. Not too slick but obviously more than a silicon case (not too much is acceptable). The feeling in hand is really well the hole for the power/volume/Bixby button is good for reach it easily.
The effect is a bonus (good in fact in a meeting your less attract by your phone due to the screen on the table).
So the price at beginning is too much (65$).
But now in Amazon you can have one for 35$ at this price is a very good deal !
The screen is protect by the case (the top and bottom are higher than 2 or 3 mm) but I don't know if in case of accidental drop if this case protect like a case in silicon (if you have the answer I'm interesting)
For now I used my S10 with this case in white and without screen protector and the feeling is so much much better (by far) than no official case and with SP.
Have a good day ?
