well if you are "not programmer" why would you need this??? so many request from indians who dont even know what to do with them, this is developer preview, you not being programer will just complicate things for you as this is not stable rom, wait for official release.

Actually the process of bulding roms is not programming. It has minor similarities, but in general this is completely different stuff.

Yep. And actually, it makes me laugh just to see 2 posts with almost the same title, right next to each other discussing the same thing all over again

and this P beta is for programmers so they can test their apps and features, not to build roms, dont know the meaning you was going for. anyway my post was about people crying about roms and ports just for the sake of they wanting to have something, and not for the reason that it is meant to exist. like this dude, he want P beta just for fun although its not meant for wide usage nor it is stable, on top of that he is "not programmer" so we can assume he doesn't know much about what this is meant for and how is meant to be used, so when some bugs occur he will came back here and rant about it, just wanted to say this is not for him, not for me and probably for most of the guys here, so just wait for official release of P for Mi A1 which will probably be around new year, best regards.

You were a bit rude but I get your point, people should just wait for the update if they are not familiar with beta ROMs. They don't really know how buggy betas can be, unless their phone is a toy they use for flashing ROMs and stuff and not as a daily driver then sure!

I wouldn't mind seeing Android P beta ported to our device, not because someone couldn't wait for it, but for devs' respect. And with Treble support stirring around, I wouldn't be surprised if this was possible in near future. Just as a proof of concept, that Treble support could be enabled by the communities hard work.
I'm not saying I would run it on my device, risks of damaging the device are still pretty high, so unless someone comes up with a reliable solution, then maybe.
Even now custom ROMS are laggy for me, barely usable for me. Stock is the way to go for me (that comes from a former kernel developer), because I'm tired of fixing all that hassle myself, reliability is what I want these days.

Custom Roms and Software Future

Hey guys,
atm I'm looking for a new phone and as it just dropped 50€ in price I'm highly considering the Honor 8. The only thing that worries me is that there are no Custom Roms. Right now I'm using a Samsung S5 with AICP Android 6 and the Nougat Update just around the Corner. Will there ever be stable and really Daily driver usable custom roms with Stock Android for Kirin CPUs? If there is no hope just tell me and I will move on searching but if there will be some developement in the future I would love to own this phone.
Thanks in advance!

Hi, I recommend you to read more threads about development here, that way you'll understand the situation better and why it's like that.
At the moment, no roms and no one working on it.
Its so sad that this awesome device does not have any custom roms yet

There are some that are working on it but to be honest developing for this device is almost as bad as developing for xiaomi devices. There are a few teams that were working on it but then just tossed the device aside and said it wasnt worth the trouble.

Yeah mainly when they don't translate stuff out of Chinese. Which even translated comes out to gibberish. This is why many of the teams just gave up on the device and told the people that got them the device that it just wasn't gonna happen.
For now, be away from Kirin devices if you look for Custom ROM. Stay with Qualcomm or even MTK...

What do you think if we can translate those stuffs from Chinese to English? I think on XDA there are quite a few Chinese member, although this translation is definitely HUAWEI's own job...

Some have tried. It doesn't translate well due to the different dialects that are used.
I would pick the Karin over mtk if I had a choice myself.

. I also hate when when they define their functions STATIC in uppercase, it just makes no sense.

I do agree with you it's easier for them to make them in chinese.
All I'm trying to say it isn't that hard to make the files in english (as it's the most used language) and it will be easier for the community to get started
After all, it's up to them
At least we won't get a ****load of copy/pasted buggy roms made by people who don't even own the device or know what a kernel is.
I now find myself more comfortable with this phone and exactly 0 kernel kiddies around, than with my previous Samsung and the perpetual expectation/hope/false illusion of someone to finally make a decent update out of the hundred available variants, which yes it let me keep the phone a year more, but always on the edge of instability, and with an additional decrease of its used market value (a 2-years old phone still has some market; 3-years old is ready to trash).
I don't see criticalities on this phone for now; we'll get Nougat and an EMUI refresh in a few months, and that's enough for another year. Except some defects on status bar and notifications, I don't miss any of the 10000 features of the various fully modded CM13 roms.

ROM Hexa-project. Some devoloper for Natrium? Please

I offer myself as a tester. I don't know to compile ROMS
Perhaps you should try RR and feedback missing features? I wouldn't expect anything until the kernel source is released though.
I don't understand because Xiaomi has this politic. Xiaomi has that to sell first a new model for free source code of others old models. My great dissolusion with Xiaomi only to sell her software she doesn't allow that the community developers do their great work with this fantastics ROM for example LineageOs, AICP, Hexa-project, Resurrection Remix, Etc......

My man, I fully understand your point, hell I share it.
But you bought the phone fully knowing this was going to happen. If you did not you flat out did not do your homework.
Xiaomi is always lagging heavily on releasing their sources and has always been very vague regarding their release dates. Heck they often simply drop it out of nowhere.
If you wanted the source code NOW and this was not debatable you should have bought the 3T.

It just strikes me as very odd that one is willing to throw at least 400 bucks without checking how active rom development is.
I bought this phone with the idea that the source code will be released before end of may.
If it does not happen I'd be quite sad, but the current RR is actually really ****ing good. I don't actually mind as much.
So, once again, referring to my first post, did you even try RR?
This work is for @NexusPenguin, friend if you have a little time can you please try to compile Hexa-Project and ValidusOS

Hi,
LOL... Don't forget that, on the other side of the river, I mean the iOS side, people spend 1000 bucks on their phone not even knowing what development and custom ROM even is as even the concept can hardly be imagined
I'll try to compile Validus (I'm part of the GZR team anyways so it was planned right after I got Tipsy to boot) and Hexa-OS (that I didn't know before).
I'll keep you put here of course

Hi,
I've looked at the Hexa-OS project.
I think you should give up all hope to have it ported to mi5s Plus.
The Hexa-OS is a purely NON-CAF project meant only for Google devices (Nexus Line and Pixel Line).
It can be ported for other devices, but that will require a lot of work and specific skills that I do not have and do not intend to acquire.
But I am in the Validus team and will try to build, even though I already face problems
But I ALWAYS had problems with Validus
Regards.

I didn't imply to refer to the whole community, heck I figure +95% gives negative ****s about custom ROMs.
It just strikes me as odd that people who actually care about ROM development don't bother to check its popularity beforehand.
Especially if it's more than 200 bucks.
Good to know you're ontop of this, I'll await the times of the released kernels and sail the seas of unrestricted ROM development

Weird, I really thought it was an AOSP non-caf ROM.

Huawei EMUI 5.1 Update – Eligible Devices, Release Date

According to Huawei, the Honor 8, Honor 6X, Honor 5C, and Huawei P9 will get EMUI 5.1 update by May end this year. See full story here ?? http://huaweiadvices.com/huawei-emui-5-1-update-eligible-devices-release-date/
I doubt it will roll at the end of this month. Everyday Im checking Early access in HiCare, and there where no any beta test available, not even mentions about it.
There is no way that Huawei would just like that publish next big update without proper test, like we had with 5.0
True that Huawei is not best at rolling updates, but still when you compare it to ther OEMs its no difference at all, and all other companies have test before publishing major updates, and because they are region dependent, we should saw at least few roms based on 5.1 roam around forum from Asia or Europe.

Well this news is from the Official Huawei site so we should be expecting these roll outs as scheduled. May be not OTA as it will have delays but on the Firmware Finder App.
I guess nothing we can do but wait for it to come. Hopefully this news is legit...

Dont get me wrong but this is some retarded reasoning you have here....
Why test at all if its still Android? Why test if its still a phone? Why test if most of people buy new phone after 2years? Why test if 90% of people that use android, dont even know what screen resolution their phone have?
maybe because EMUI 5.1 have few new features that affect user experience? Maybe because they fix/make new bugs when implementing those features?
Jesus Christ its like explaining that water is wet, sun is shining and wind is blowing...
@Akinaro, let me say this.
They have P10 to test all things and just backport to P9, so they tested it since last november. If we clearly look, they only changed code of 5.0 and added the features to it. Its not a major update from google, just one from huaweis side, that only changed their own code.
Bugs can be everywhere, look on latest B383 and B386. We can also think, if they allready testing some code in this builds.
The EVA-L19C185B387 got allready something of that, a new kernel build 5.0.0.3, as SP1 marked, so they doing and mostly ditched to release official builds on 5.0 to work on 5.1.
You just prove my point....
they only changed code of 5.0 and added the features to it

You just said what I said: they added features that need to be tested, because they changed code of 5.0...
And no one will more than few brain cells would test new ROM on never devices and then backport it straight to older model... you realize how it sound?
Its not a major update from google, just one from huaweis side, that only changed their own code.

What the point? Just because it was not google update it doesnt require testing? Seriously?
And even if they ditched 5.0 and jumped to 5.1 it doesnt change anything, if you, as you self mentioned, changed code and added new features that really can affect user experience(for example new memory management ) It doesnt need proper testing like any other update?
My point is still valid: saying that new update doesnt need testing is just retarded.

What is the point of this discussion?
that this update would need beta testing just like any other rom, and overall is rather not possible that Huawei would release globally that update for P9 before end of this month.
On the side not part of this discussion what about seriously useless reasoning of dkionline that say "just because its based on android 7 i doesnt need testing".
Such thinking need to be pointed out as stupid, if someone like it or not.

If I see something stupid or something that is not true I will point it out, and I dont care if someone like my opinion or not.
If anyone is one of those snowflake that roam around internet crying about everything and think that we should say only good thing about him, I have bad news for you, because world doesnt work like that, and you should deal with it, that you are not omniscient and everyone will like what you think.
I prefer facts than some internet pseudo respect. And if we fallow facts and general reasoning, you cant say anything wrong about what I was talking about. Because show me one think that I said wrong?
Its not my fault that some people have such problems with writing full sentence with proper reasoning behind their opinion.

Nope, Im not tired of my self. And my parents taught me to not mention "parents" in conversation like some sort of kid in school that dont have anything important to say, so he say something about parents or one of many stupid "mother" joke.... just like you did....
And yes, I really like discussion!
Discussion actually create our world, without it we would have nothing. Even from most trivial or offensive discussions you can get amazing thing that change to amazing inventions or ideas. Whole point of discussion is two people where one say "yes" and other say "no" and after some time they all agree about something.... not mention their own parents, its really childish.
Also its worth mention that my actual discussion ended after only two post... but then YOU showed up and had to put your few cents inside... why? maybe you could kindly say us why you had to join it if everything was said already?
Because I have tip for you: if you dont like someone opinion... you dont pay attention to it... you just move on. No one force you to push yourself between two other people discussion and say something that just make more chaos.
Also small note: if you really are so "pro respect" you would end that discussion right now, and we all stop here, and move to actual topic, if you want to add something else about it, or about my parents, feel free to use Personal Messages, I will be happy to replay to it

They will test it on internal stage in china like they do now on M9. Theres allready much devices with emui 5.1, so their system itself working propably, only the kernel is the reason, nothing more or less.
Mate, you get any betatest from emui4 to 4.1 or 4.1 to 4.1.1 or anything else? No, they release it after its done.

I think I'll believe the guy who builds custom ROMs for this phone over the other guy lol.

i actually dunno where to start from..
first of all you suppose we left the project?
about your comits i have a simple question: why did you set the target sdk to higher vs?
and i am not really sure you know why it was set like that.. if you just took the time to read the original tread instead of just forking a repo, click OK on update message when prompted and call it v3, maybe you would know.. btw! yeah HUGE update, it really deserves a vs naming upgrade..

Hi there
I just did one commit for now, gradle deps update, but i intend to do some optimizations with the current code plus some redesigning etc. I don't have time to work on it now, as I have some exams and yes I agree that naming it v3 would be too unreasonable, I'll change that. After exams, I'll probably start working on it ;-;
I set it to higher cause many old(lp/mm) roms that use rom control has stopped development, and it's mostly newer roms that are based on nougat that are constantly pushing out new updates, hence I targeted 25.
I know you guys left the project and thus i wanted to continue with some minor updates

The project is still ongoing.
Hwile it's true that it's all under gpl, and you're free to use whole or parts of it as you please, you cannot make v3.0 of the original project. It just doesn't work like this. You're not part of the team. You want to have your own project, you're welcome to the code or parts of it. But you don't get to create the new version of an existing project without at least consulting with us first. The project is still ongoing. The latest version is v2.1. What you did here is ridiculous at the very least.
We haven't stopped the project. The development on it continuous. And BTW setting the target sdk to nougat will render it unusable as data app. And if you were an Android developer, you would understand that. It's well explained on our original thread, where btw, the development continues.
So yeah... Have a great day.

Wait you can delete a thread?
I deleted the OP too
Thread closed per OP request. As a rule, we don't delete threads (Le Goog no likey!), but the OP has been deleted and the thread closed, so that should suffice. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to send me a PM.
Thanks,

Honestly, i dont think someone should. This community doesnt deserve this lol. Why would someone spend their time, only to get bothered with nonsense questions, requests, demands all the time. Get blamed for bugs, which arent even rom fault, never get any logs etc etc.. I could continue this list on and on and on. 80% of users here are ungrateful noobs that cant even read OP or last 3 posts, not even talking about using search function. So yeah, i dont wish that to any dev. Thats all my for my rant.

You said it: 80% are ungrateful. That means that 20% correctly thank the work of @jhenrique09 . Please dev, continue your great work for that 20% of people in this community.
Just to say i will greatly miss this rom too...

I agree with you too! They always complain about useless stuff! But please!!! It's absurd but I've fallen in love with Pixel Experience! And if there's no further update.... I don't think I'll switch to any other rom either! PE is just sooo awesome! And ...again I understand what you say, but believe me.... There are some who genuinely appreciate all Devs works! And love to use their products! Anyways... I still hope a resurrection of PE someday ?

+1... It was best ROM for Whyred
Just move one. There is lots of ROM out there don't know why people freaking about it lol.
Here's what Whyred XDA Community deserve.
Community really never helped the developer Who has developed the rom without the device (and yes, it was painfull for him with 300 reported problems and zero logs).

been using many rom, on many devices and for many years now.
This one was for me on whyred the most stable (or the most quickly fixed), keeping battery pretty good and with a good concept. I even used it on other devices since i liked it a lot.
That's the reason why it bother us.
the dev made a great job maintaining this ROM and was updating it regularly. for the first time i consider staying on a ROM that is potentially no more developped
The best custom rom, it's custom but it's cleanest
If you ever wonder why devs struggle to find motivation to work for the community, just find the first Pie FW update from henrique in PE thread and read the posts until the last page. Despite the fact that it was clearly noted to update firmware to Pie version and it was written how to do it, there were 4-5 pages per day (not posts, PAGES) filled with questions:
- bootloop, help pls
- can't flash, error in twrp
- how to update
Literally.
And that's everything you need to know about Whyred community.
1- If the rom is stable, you can live without updates.
2- José is "back", he bought a new whyred.

Yeah... If people just explore the forum more and do what he says to do... There wouldn't be any problems... The fill pages writing about questions. And it isn't a sign of wit! But PE is like love for a few people! And I eagerly want it comes back!
Never bothered to update my PE (december 5 rom) since it came out. Is running as smoothly as can be, so why mess with a good thing? Will probably keep it until next device, maybe next year.
Is there an archive with the older pixel experience roms and their respective changelogs somewhere?

The developers must link their jobs, social life etc. with making great roms. They need to sacrifice their free time to maintain the rom, fix the problems they encounter with debugging and people complain because they almost never read OP. Without thanking the dev, supporting him, what kind of monsters have this community become? Asking simple questions, which they just can search in like 5 seconds to find an answer... Shame on those people, may they regret now what've they done.

Most of the devs are stopping because of the annoyances of the users, even more when the person does not have a device, it gets worse.
