I think most of us had heard that Moto Z has a erratic/bizarrre/high batery drain in one or another way.
For my case it's a broken battery and i think it affect entire battery lots but Moto never accept and recall its.
I will share my experience.
According to this topic https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Moto-Z/Moto-Z-extreme-battery-drain-after-7-1-1-update/td-p/3758100.
There is 100+ pages and numerous people affect by this issue around the world.
Me live Thailand. My Moto Z model is XT1650-03, Dual SIM.
I bought a second hand phone. It's come with Nougat 7.1.1
My previous phone is Xiaomi Mi4C that has a SOT around 3-4 hour [with 3000 mAh]
So when i got Moto Z. SOT is aound 3-4 hours. with 2600 mAh I think it normal. [My use is texting LINE, internet, on WIFI most of the time]
After 2 month I got update to Oreo.
I notice battery is drop fast than normal. I use better batery stat and waklock detector to nail down the cause.
But all is normal. Phone is almost in deep sleep. when use battery is drain aound 4-5%/Hr or more.
Then i start to google and found above topic and similar in another website.
Moto web moderator usuallly suggest these method
1. If happen after update please clear cache through Recovery
2. Do a baterry calibration [force restart then use turbo power supply to chardge till 100%, leave it overnight]
3. If above fail do a factory rest.
I try method 1. and fail
When use method 2 . It notice a weired battery percentage
- before force restart no matter % of battery when restart % will suddenly drop [e.g. 85-->45, 90-->2]
- this make me more curious
- after charge with turbo power adaptor to 100% and leave overnight. I try to force restart again. guess what the battery % is suddenly drop again .
- after try many time i come to conclude that "IT'S NOT A SOFTWARE. IT'S A HEARWARE ISSUE"
I go to Moto service center and tell them abou tthis battey drain.
They smile and said that "This happen frequenly. It's a battery defect"
My phone still under warranty so it's free.
FYI : if out of warranty cost is around 40$ [PS. In thailand] not too pricy for battey+labor cost [this phone is hardly to replace battery by yourself]
With new battery Moto Z is a monster in SOT. I got SOT 4 Hrs. with remain 45 % battery. With my usage i think 7-8 Hrs. is possible.
To sum up
Those who face a erratic/bizarrre/high batery drain.
Please try to do battery calibration first. But if you find suddenly drop in battery % after force restart. It's a broken battery.
Go to Moto service center ASAP.
No software update can fix this.
For 7.1.1 update that emerg this issue.
In my humble opinion i think no software can do damage to battery. In worst case, poor sotware will cuase huge waklock and baterry drain but not suddenly drop after restart.
It's maybe coincidence that this 7.1.1 update come out around the time that defect battery show the sign.
For further battery save up.
I found that in Oreo. without Root we can limit background activity.[this look like function in MIUI rom]
App that optimize for Oreo doesn't has this function.
So it's for old gen app that developer didn't update their code.

I just got a moto z and today I am seeing this exact same problem. i'm playing around with it now doing some other ways of calibrating. I am on Oreo and wondering if Nougat would be more battery friendly on these phones ?
Android version doesn't relate with this problem.
If you familiar with ADB. You can install Better battery stat and Wakelock detector without root. To identify app and process that consume battery.
For easy way. Android battery stat in setting is informative enough to this task.
You can summary all battery % lost and compare to your remaining battery. If your battery isn't broke. This value should be linear.
In my case there is missing % more than 20%

Yeah I am familiar with adb. But my problem is that, at this time anyhow, is that when I reboot I lose like 30% battery or something stupid which makes me think software. But after doing alot more reading at this point it would seem like it's a defective battery. That would be a first for me to have an android phone with a defective battery. So that's why at this point I'm just thinking software for the most part. Mainly cause i bricked my device when I tried to root it with oreo. I'm trying to downgrade now which I have done but now having modem issues.
I have a moto z too and i did the force restart and then the battery dropped from 38 to 6% i did it again and got up to 15 y did it again and stays in 6%, did it again and stays on six then un five and down, always with my usage, i got 3:40 at max of sot, and about 2 minutes-3, per % of battery, do you think is software or i shoud go to replace the battery

You have situation similar to me.
If you have warranty or financial isn't issue, don't hesitate to try replace battery.
You know this is actually quite funny to me. I had three replacement phones for this issue. I contacted Motorola and complained like crazy they charged me holding fees and crap till they got my defective model. Weirdest thing, every model had different battery life and performance. One model actually fried chargers one by one. So irritating, I thought Motorola was a good company. I told them, biggest issue I've had with phones in the past was them cracking, so I bought a shatter proof phone. Well whats the point of having a shatter proof display if I go through three of them in a year for faulty batteries?
Also it took about my 10th phone call for me to be transferred to someone that actually spoke proper English........
They couldn't even pronounce my name. My name is Adam....... (Aedum) lol
Called a supervisor, still couldn't pronounce my name...
After begging to speak to a manager for like an hr strait and being transferred to more people who could not speak proper English.
The last guy said ill transfer you to my manager in another building. The second he answered the phone I asked if they were even in the same country, nope lol. Regardless, it was weird, once I had made it to this person he was offering to send me free things, did the last phone replacement without a holding fee, etc.
Why am I still ranting.........
Point is, I used to love Motorola.
I do not anymore for this reason specifically lol.
Edit: Never guess what happened, my current Moto z force stopped charging.
I am never buying a Moto phone again.
4 out of 4 Motorola phones.....
Gonna take it apart now lol
I'm doubting my battery now as well. I've even factory reset and still have a big issue.
Standby time is ok, but with the screen on, my battery level drops like a rock. Almost 1% per minute. So I'd be lucky to get about an hour and a half or so on a full charge. (Of screen time) And that's not gaming or anything else battery intensive. Mostly just XDA Labs.
So after factory resetting and seeing no change, I'm convinced my battery itself is messed up. Luckily I have the Turbo power battery mod, so I can get through a day. But I'll be phone shopping soon.
Not going to be bitter, will probably get a Z3. Too many mods to buy anything else. Plus I've had the Moto X, N6, Moto Z and my wife has Z2 Play, so I'm a Moto fan! All good phones. This battery thing is my first issue.
I've had problems with my battery too. After 5 or 6 hours of a complete recharge, a new charge was needed. So I've bought a new one on Ebay and received yesterday.
Now, after replacement, my Moto Z is working absolutely fine, just like when was brand new. Today I've used some mods. Here in Brazil we have a digital TV mod with battery, but the recharging was off to test the new battery. Also play music for almost 2 hours with Moto Speaker, that doesn't have a internal battery.
And now, 11 hours after last charging there's 36% remaining, with 6 hours estimated.
So I really recommend replace the battery.
@Tlucent could you say me further information about the battery replacement?
I bought a Moto Z from LightInTheBox and I don't received yet, but I read some comments about this issue. When and if I have this issue I need know how resolve.
What the model/reference of battery do you bought?
The replacement is easy and trusted?
Thanks
Motorola worst support
I've got the same problem and sent my phone for repair after contact with Moto support and unsuccessful re-calibration of the battery. Few days later I got a reply that my phone wouldn't be repaired according to the warranty conditions because the screen glass has a small crack and this is the ostensible reason for the battery failure.
So all I have to say is GOOD BUY MOTOROLA!
Finally I have sent my motoZ for battery replacement last month.
It is working well now, battery can survive around half day (~10hrs) for my usage,
or ~5hrs in heavy use (nearly nonstop web, IM text, videos)
However since it is already out of warranty, it cost 60 bucks from local dealer.
If you find your phone (any) battery drain, standby and usage hrs shortened,
and, battery level dropped (alot) after power off then On,
that means the battery is already EOL (end-of-life).
The so-called recalilbate is usless !
Do factory-reset is meaningless !!!
That was the worst battery I have even seen, it just last for a year.
Some said the battery is from LG, holy ~
On ebay you can find the battery (GV30) for around $10,
but I do not recommend replace it yourselves.
Here are some tips to prolong Li-ion battery.
1. charge it whenever you can!
2. do not use up till 0% if possible, try charge it before it reach 40%
3. try charge it till 80% then unplug charger, this will extend its cycle life by not to wear out its recharge cycle too soon!
4. try keep your phone cool, high temperature will help chemical form, means shorten its life.
The problem is the battery cell's chemistry. it is crap. I've used my Z for about 9 months and now it is less than half capacity according to Accubattery and power can be cut if I do something intensive below 50%. Same thing had happened to my old midrange Moto G4. Stay away from Motorola phones.
I've recently had more than enough out of my Z2 play. Since day one it's lagged and froze often, even after wipes, resets and even reflashing the factory firmware. I think I just got a lemon, but didn't get it in before warranty expired.
My Z has been in a drawer all this time, with a fried battery. It even was shutting down at about 60 percent, which took about 30 minutes of screen time to get to from 100. So definitely my battery was no good.
So, instead of living with the awful Z2 I got, and let the warranty expire on, I'm getting my Z's battery replaced and the camera glass replaced. (it was scratched up bad.) For not much at all. 7 bucks for the battery and glass. Lol
I'm excited to get back on my Z! It was better than the Z2 anyway, even with none of my Z2 issues. My fingers are crossed that my battery life will go back to how it was when I first got my Z. That and the Turbo Power mod are all the battery life I need. :good:

where did you get the battery and glass for 7$ from?
I do not recommend more motorola among my friends and family
I have a Motorola Moto Maxx with about 3 years in use and its battery still works, with less capacity, but it does.
And I have a Moto Z XT1650-3, this with 11 months in use started with the known problem of the battery, component trash!
I have the Moto mod battery, and so I used it for about two more weeks since the internal battery problem started.
The internal battery 100% charge, and restart the device and the battery is already 30%, I connect it again to load and in a few minutes reaches 100% and we know what happens if I disconnect and restart.
The moto mod gives some autonomy, but once it runs out, or the internal battery has been completely discharged, there is no way that the device turns on again, until the charger is connected.
So, knowing that Lenovo does not sell this battery, I decided to take the risk of separating the screen to extract the damaged battery.
And already installed the generic battery that I bought (with the motorola logos) the device is functional again, the load remains decent, and ... only a small problem XD the generic battery is fatter than the original, so my screen in the lower area of the touch remains detached around almost 1 mm, and this is risky because in a bad move something can get stuck and detach the screen.
These days I will buy a second battery, but genuine, removal of damaged equipment, says the seller.
I leave you images of what the fake motorola battery looks like and the original battery photo.
Regards!
Same bad health battery here! Moto Z doing crazy things with the battery percentage.
I need to know if the brand new batteries are still erratic after some months or Motorola knows the issue and provides good-health ones? Is it worth it?
for those who replaced the battery, did they use original or alternative battery?

My replace original battery from Moto service center die in 6 month

I have a Fuze that is 2 years old. For the past 3 months, the phone shows me 75% battery life, but if I use youtube or BreakingHead for about 10 minutes, the phone shuts off. I turn it on and the phone tells me that there is no battery left and shuts off. I take the battery out, put it back in, turn it on and it says I have 50% battery. I open opera or youttube and 2 minutes later it shuts off and wont come back on. It starts and shuts off. Also, when charging overnight or 12 hours straight, the glowing light on the center button still going around. It doesnt stay on as in full charge. I mean come on, 12 hours!?!?!?!
So before I buy another $6 battery from ebay, do you guys think its the battery or the phone?
Thanks.
PS- I searched for something similar and nothing came back from the search of this forum.
More than likely it could be the battery.
Try & buy original as all the eBay cheap batteries are next to useless & 90% of batteries listed genuine on fakeBay are um fake ! ...
Buying on eBay is like going to a Burmese border market full of shiny but useless chinese manufactured copy junk & sellers full of bull****.
I think trying another battery will be the simplest & cheapest diagnostic step you can take.
You could also do the battery run down rest as described in the HTC service manual page 64 section 5.2
Service manual can be found in Raphael wiki
PowerDetect.exe found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=128876&d=1226352397
You were right. The battery was the culprit. Funny, I never noticed that the original battery had a bulge on both sides. I got my new battery yesterday and I saw it flat compared to my old fat battery. Then it got me thinking about capacitors and how they bulge when they are bad, then it all made sense . . . . . . . .
you should practice full charge and full discharge for the 1st three time..for new battery
http://www.cellpower.com/battery_tips.cfm#Battery Do's & Don'ts
I am. I did it yesterday. The pesky thing would not die. 24 hours for the battery to fully discharge. I had to download, play youtube, play games, then at 11:25pm, the thing finally gave in. I almost cried in amazement. 2 more to go.
So i have over a 2 year old sensation with original battery inside..
I have a lots of problems that i THINK they are caused by my battery:
Camera does not work anymore,
Battery runs out really quickly,
When using 3G on battery (100%) and browsing. The phone suddenly shuts down and then i have like 15% battery left,
IF i buy a new battery for my sensation, can i get my camera back and will the sudden shut down keep coming or are them both gone with bad battery?
I want to be sure before ordering it from the other side of the world. (Finland Price: at least 30€ for 1700mAh) And bigger (2450mAh) battery from china is only 5€ with postage costs included.
Edit: Is this phone lost cause? And i have resetted my phone and some other things like that.

See...if camera does not start then its not battery issue at all. You need to find why it isn't starting.
And Yes, Bad Battery causes reboots sometimes and you should consider a new Anker Battery, it will improve your battery life as well as stability, but Remember Cam is a different story!!!
Is there a trusted source for this? I can't buy it from LG or google...but would like to replace my Nexus 5 battery. I'm charging the phone like 3-4 times/day.

You can find all the proper LG part numbers in the D820 service manual, plus, it has the proper steps to dis-assemble the Nexus 5 so you don't break anything.
EAC62078701 is the part number to search for.
Read the last 20 or so pages for part numbers and di-assembly instructions(with color pictures!).

Hi,
I have two questions...is there a trusted US reseller of the genuine LG battery. The one above is from the UK.
Also...I attached the GSAM captures...does this look normal for nexus 5? My battery is being drained very quickly lately. Maybe I need to do a factory reset?

2 hours screen on, half battery used? Yeah could be normal. Hard to say really.
Me too.....
I am looking for this, too. My battery is really messed up. I've tried recalibrating, factory reset, different ROMs, complete stock, etc. I'm getting 3 hrs. TOTAL before having to charge and it'll hit 25% and die almost immediately after that. I power back on and I'm at 3% (!). I'm trying the Zerolemon battery case to see if that gets me through the next few months until I can possibly upgrade or get another Nexus 5.
Excellent

I've spent the past few days looking for a genuine battery (in the UK). I've actually spent about 2 weeks swapping ROM's around from 4.4 to 5.0.1. Turns out Lollipop is some of my problem but even on 4.4 I'm getting pretty bad life.
All the other batteries I could find were about half the price but the reviews said they were fakes. I'll try this one.
OEM battery is only about $10 or $15, so price alone won't tell you if it's genuine or not.

I can't argue with that!
When I searched on amazon.co.uk for OEM Nexus 5 battery, I found a few for only about £10 but the reivews made it clear that they were not really LG batteries. I couldn't find the link that the poster gave (probably because it doesn't have OEM in it). I've no reason to believe it is more genuine other than the poster contacted them and they assured him. So I ordered it and it looks very genuine so far - some that are sold as OEM don't even have "LG" written on them!
I'll install it soon and see if my battery life improves and come back here and also write an amazon review - it's the only way for people to see what's good or not.

Resellers will then mark those up to whatever price they want so it's really a crap shoot out there. Best of luck with your replacement and let us know the results.
I would like to ask all the people on this forum that have replaces their battery in the Nexus 5 to post some of their impressions about the "new" battery, this thread looks like the perfect place to do this.
I will start:
- I had to replace my battery because it became very bloated/swollen, so much that on one side the back case was lifted 1 mm, and
the phone felt a little bit heavier. Also the battery would not last even an hour, the phone closing on it's own with the battery showing 50-70 %,
and after reset showing <10%, then it would magically charge itself back to 50%
- So I bought a new one from ebay: "http://www.ebay.com/itm/361075010454", the guy had positive reviews and many people got this item
- It arrived in perfect state, at least visually, it had part number "EAC62078701" like all the replacement batteries online, the seller assured me it was original and new from LG. Proof that it was new could be that the connector ribbon was straight and not folded in any way, so it could not have been used in a phone before. The inscriptions on it seemed original, but when I scanned the barcode from the lower-left side it decoded a different date
than the one written on it over the P/N, so no match, but what does this mean ?
- I put it into the phone and now it acts "normally", meaning that it goes from 100% all the way to 0% without the phone closing itself
- Charging also seems normal, taking about 2,5 hours to fully charge with the LG WCP-300 wireless charger
- But this is were the problems start, with the new battery I cannot get more than 2 - 2,5 hours of SOT no matter what I do. I've tried 4.4.4, L preview, 5.0, 5.0.1, even cm11, with full wipes and no restores, but it's the same, as soon as the screen in on, the battery drains like crazy, I lose 15% battery in 10 minutes of playing Temple Run 2, which is not even such a demanding game. Totally unacceptable, when the phone was new, I used to get 4-5 hours of SOT, now I don't even get half that.
This is why I'd like to get other people's impressions about a replacement battery.
Maybe this replacement battery is bad, I but I don't want to get another one without proof that other replacement batteries can get 4 hours of SOT with stock Lollipop.
Thank you.

With all bells and whistles I get 3- 3.5h SOT . LTE at all times , location on , brightness around 15%. 4 to 5h on 3g with location off and no music.
The only way to be sure if it's the battery is to either compare it with another battery in your phone or do a controlled discharge .
That would involve taking it out , wiring it to a constant current sink and timing how long it takes until it reaches cut-off voltage. Since either buying a current sink or building one will cost you more than 15 bucks I'd say just look for another battery if you really hate the current SOT .
Best of luck!!! Had the same issue a few days ago when I plugged my N5 to the charger of my sisters tablet, which is obviously one of those cheap Made in China tablets,
and the voltage totally killed the battery in my phone, so didnt really feel like those sellers where worth my trust, so went to FB and got in the N5 fan page of my country, so there was a guy who had one with a broken screen and was nice enough to sell me his battery, this is basically your best shot, asking around if you REEEEAAALLY want a original one, since LG dont sell them to the public
Temperature of replacement Nexus 5 battery
Hi,
Sorry to bother you, but could you tell me if your replacement Nexus 5 battery has a varies temperature?
I mean if the temperature goes up to 35 Celsius when it's charging or you're playing games, of if it goes down to 25 when it's idle.
Because my replacement battery always stays at 29 degrees Celsius, no matter how I use the phone.
I think mine might be bad, but I want to check with someone else before buying another one.
Thanks.
Update - I replaced it a few days ago (using the amazon.co.uk link given previously) and it has solved my issues. I played a video in a loop on full brightness and got almost double what I had before. General usage seems much better too.
So why did I need a new one after just a year? I think my old one was damaged by overheating on cheap wireless charger. My new charger doesn't make the phone get so hot. I used the old one for about a year and lost about 50% capacity. I thought they must all do that so I didn't worry. I'm told heat can damage the battery.
The temperature is fine - about room temp unless I use it a lot.
It's normal - a battery loses about 30% of its capacity after 400 cycles.

I guess you got that from something like "table 2" on this page -
http://batteryuniversity.com/learn/article/how_to_prolong_lithium_based_batteries
That's showing a 30% loss on 300-500 cycles assuming the battery was right down to 0%. I didn't know that.
However, I lost 50% and would not have been charging from 0% so it seems worse than average. The next paragraph on that page talks about degradation due to heat. That would explain why mine was so bad.
I'm still surprised though as I've had a few smart phones and never noticed even 30%. I had my Motorola Defy for 2 years as my main phone and then 2 years as a spare and it seemed fine. I suppose you don't notice a gradual loss so presumably I just wasn't noticing.
Not all batteries are made the same - my very old motorola (w388 , 10 years old) started out with around 7 days battery life . Now it only lasts about 3 days so ~60% loss.
My desire x lost around 30% capacity in 2 years - so around 900 charging cycles. My S3 on the other side ... capacity was down to 50% after 200 charging cycles. I've checked most of the with a controlled discharge on a current sink so it should be about 3% off .
So i finally replace my battery and miracle happen phone charge normally not in 40 minutes, there is no battery jump and fall during reboot, no enormous drain etc. So if you have issue as described above and changing roms, kernels and go back to kitkat didn't help change your battery.
Just got a battery from eBay... Looks authentic, but doesn't charge.. Just stays at 0%...
Probably will have to exchange... Is there a way to tell if an LG battery is authentic??
Edit: Well the seller has quickly refunded me and I didn't even have to send back the battery. Told him it wouldn't charge and is stuck at 0%.. He insisted he would just send out a new one, but I asked for a refund instead.
Already ordered a new one from etradesupply, should be here within a few days..
So guys, celebrating or Forum acquisition.
Let's talk about one of the biggest issues that a huge part of S3 users, that acquired their phones last year had. The battery drop.
It weirdly started for some after the Lollipop upgrade, with a 15 or 20 sudden drop, 1, 2, 3 seconds and you phone turns off!
Firstly we all thought this was a software issue, but after countless work and updates on this part and no fix for it, we started to think that problem was not a software one but with batteries itself.
The cause will remain a mystery. A defective lot? A issue that was ignited by LP? And proof of batteries defect, the drops gets worse with time. 20, 30, 40% drop to zero, batteries getting inflacted watch out if you have this issue!
Fortunately this seems to be fixed in newest batteries, that are sold on main stores, if you're ordering a original one get from main stores, Aliexpress stores are just selling fake ones by my investigations.
Luckily we found at Aliexpress this Kompson battery. At first sight it looked like a big scam, promising capacity for a not so popular phone? Definitely could look like a scam. But then a courageous buyer bought one and not only got great capacity or duration, as got the drop issue aliviated.
My case, after a whole year with two original batteries. They started to suffer huge drops from 50% in the last 6 months, with max of 2:30 SOT. One got inflated, they badly lasted me more than a . Yesterday finally got my Kompson and my issue meet a end. No drop, maybe at 5%, 3% I got a drop to 1% then it last some time more and turns off.
This topic is to inform people with the Drop issue, as well as letting your experience with new, old stock batteries or Kompson. In order to inform and help people with this freaking issue.
I only got one battery with my device, so the moment I started to notice these strange drops, plus none of the "rescue" solutions such as battery calibration (rooted), didn't do anything, I search AliXpress, and bought one KonPson with any risk...
Since March 29th that I am using it, the phone works also with 0%!!! No crazy drops, no suddden 50%...
The load discharges slow an normaly.
TapaTalk and JiaYu S3 with Android MM!
Battery calibration isnt quick process to get rid off drops. What You need to do is stay with ONE rom longer! Do a calibration at 100%. Restart the phone. Than three-five times fully discharge battery (with normal use) and charge it to 100% its times. It take week or so. I have konspon and orginal battery and I dont have any drops - no matter which battery I use. I've made flashable batterystats file (from my own file after a week or so) and when I need to test new rom and return to mine testes I do flash batterystats.bin file via recovery and thats all.

I had two defective batteries, no way a calibration would save them from 50% drops.
Sent from my S3 using Tapatalk
Just swapped in my Kompson that I purchased a few months ago as a spare as I was experiencing a 10% drop. From my experience it was definitely battery degradation as it started fine and eventually worked up to 5% then 10% while the Kompson goes all the way down to 0%. It will be interesting to see if the Kompson does the same in such a short period as then it might be the device causing degredation rather than poorly made batteries.
@genesisalgor One question, do you recommend buy this battery?

Mine is rock solid until now, if it's inflated you should replace it immediately, there's a guy that battery got in fire and ruined the phone too.

One more question. Is it the store you bought from (BouBoo International trade co., LTD)?
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/kon...ttery-free-shipping-Tracking/32360303710.html
I have 5 batteries and a pair of external chargers. One of the 5 is a Kompson. The differences are not abysmal but their performance is better.
Hi,
Where could I buy legit battery (stock or konpson) for Jiayu S3 Advance?
I have this same exact battery, I was the first one to get my hands on in our group and its so good that my facebook friends started to try buying it from me. So I sold it to one of them after I sold my jiayu s3 to get an iPhone.
Now that I just went back from an iPhone 2 months ago into another Jiayu S3 unit, I have to buy another Konpson battery for the same reason why my friends wants my Konpson so bad. LOL
Bye bye batt drops, hello my dear konpson
If you're gonna get one, just ignore what the capacity says. As long as it says Konpson for jiayu s3, you're all good. Those capacity are just labels anyway, in reality its the same capacity to the stock battery, just more efficient as to why it works and performs better than the stock battery despite having the same capacity.
kompson batteries no longer exist. now they are ones called "losoncoer" i think is the same factory (very similar sticker)
soon it will arrive and i will try it

Hello Guys
today my phone i don't know whats happening
the battery be 50 and go 70 and then go 2 so i don't know whats happening should i replace battery or what
i install (Ampere) app and tell me the health of battery is good so i don't what i should do
I would replace the battery. Battery is cheap on ebay even they are likely to be faked. I replaced batteries both of my Nexus 4 with those potential fake one. The temperature sensor isn't working on one of them so I know it is faked. But it doesn't give me trouble so far. I bought three from three different sellers.

Hello,
I've got the SAME problem with my Nexus 4 this week.
I'll try to say what happened (and I didn't resolve this yet)
First of all, it is shuting down my N4 all the time. I need to keep it at charged.
I tried to change my battery with a friend (with N4 too) and the problem persists.
I tried to change our USB modules, without success.
At this phone everything is working alright, even with battery (so it isn't a battery problem).
I cannot charge my battery or calibrate it. I charged my battery at his N4 and put at my N4: "74% battery" (it was 100%).
My gauge do some crazy jumps. It's like "15%, 76%, 100%" and when i put it off "100%, 44%, 2%".
NOTE: I tried to calibrate several times.
It keeps shuting down at normal use.
This problem occurs -at the first time- when I was at Android 5.1.1 (Chroma ROM). I changed to Android 6.0.1 and it still not working.
At charger works very fine.
At "TWRP" it works fine too (don't shutdown)
I REALLY don't know what can I do.
Now, i'm will install a Stock Rom just for science.
I have this problem(random shutdown, random reboot, when plug in battery dance) too. 6 six month ago I changed battery because phone battery drained as ****,so I used my phone only when plugged in (battery wasn't charging, just keep charge) and one day I used my n4 too long without charging, so battery drains. n4 died till I changed battery.
Everything stock, android 5.1.1 LMY48T, still hoping for OTA updates.English isn't my mother language, so will be pleased if you check it
Now I think about buying new phone. As for me its to much change battery one more time. Or itsnt batterys' fault?
I got back the Nexus 4 from a relative because she got a new phone. Also a cousin had a nexus 4. The batteries are terrible. Its been over 3 years so this was expected. I'm hoping the new battery will give it respectable SOT. Right now it just randomly dies at 50% or higher. And I have to wait for it to really die before I can bring it back to life. Its got the RED LED of Death.
Got to say, its a beautiful phone still. Forgot how nice it was
i buy new battery now its work fine

Beware! The majority of batteries sold on ebay are fake! You can identify them by the look: their print on the label is not white, it's more like a dirty grey. Also they are smaller (1-3mm) in length and width. Also they lack a temperature sensor and constantly report a temperature of 22-23°C. A quick check with a hairdryer will reveal it. Don't install these fake ones. I did twice and both failed within less than 100 cycles. Runtime was poor and they were swollen so much they lifted away the back cover!
I just got a Nexus 4 that my mother was using and installed CM13 and now Lineage 14.1 for my father to use. I'm also facing these random shutdowns.
On my last charge, I charged to 100% without any problem and left the phone in standby for a day and a half which took it down to 89%. I then used it last night to give it some SOT and left it at 74%. Just before going to bed, I pressed the power button and nothing. With a long press the phone booted and reported the battery at 73%. Waking up this morning I expected to press the power button and find the phone on something like 67%. Once again the phone had shut down and when I booted, the battery was on 2% and shutdown itself down straight after boot.
If the battery performance is rubbish, I can accept that due to the age of the phone. What I cant accept is totally inaccurate battery reporting and shutdowns. :crying:
I replaced the battery of my Nexus 4 yesterday, purchased from AliExpress. I suppose it is a fake one. The battery was too big to fit into the enclosure. I had to force it to let it fell into place. Finally it fell into place and it was connected, the phone won't turn on. The phone has given only a red led of death for about 12 hours. Probably it means a battery failure. I don't think the cheap batteries are in good condition and I don't think they're safe either.

Agree, I got one from AlieExpress too. But that was not lasting even equal to my 3 years old battery. Had to complain at multiple places to get the refund but finally got it.

I think the best chance to get an original battery is to purchase a battery from spareslg.com. The price of the battery is a bit too high in my opinion: 22,60 euros at the moment. A second hand nexus 4 costs approximately 60 euros, 80 euros tops, in the Netherlands. I don't know how much a second hand nexus 4 costs in Turkey. Perhaps it's better to consider a second hand nexus 4 and use your old nexus 4 for spare parts. A known issue of the nexus 4 is that the digitizer will stop randomly and the glass at the front and back of the phone is fragile.
