It seems no matter what I do, my PC, & a few others, just WILL NOT recognize my Verizon S3! Yes, the Samsung drivers have been installed in all of them. I am at my witt's end with this phone. #Ugh!!!
PS: I am pretty sure I have been through every single "option" within the settings, & I cannot find anything to help. If I drop the pull-down menu, & If I catch it quick enough, I can tap the USB icon & be taken to a screen where I have a choice for either "media" or "camera" whatnot.

Yes, I try different ports, ... The "USB" icon just will NOT stay in the upper left of the screen/display.

I'm may be wrong but I seem to recall reading that there is a technical limitation preventing this. I gave up and just used kies.

I thought I'd mention this just in case ... if you plug your phone in while the screen is locked you'll need to unlock it to get the volumes to mount and appear in explorer.
If you are running XP or later you should not have to load any special USB drivers to make mass storage work.

You could also try putting the w phone in it usb debugging mode and let the computer auto detect and install drivers just in case.

Neither comment is helpful. Especially since he said he tried other computers.
OP, my Sprint S3 connects automatically with USB Debugging enabled on the phone so I don't have to hit anything on the phone. Then a popup shows up on Windows asking what I want to do.
FNM
Try this maybe if u havent already...
Sorry to hear that. Normally when I plug in my S3 to my Win7 Laptop, It just detects and auto-play pops open with what I want to do.
You should try plugging the S3 into the back of the computer and also deleting the drivers that were installed from the phone already and re-installing.

Hi all,
First of all thanks scott for an awesome JB build for Infuse. Everything works great, except that, the battery icon doesn't show the phone's charging when in fact it is charging. Also, when I connect the phone to the PC with the USB cord, it doesn't get recognized as a mass storage or even an MTP device. I don't even see any settings related to this in the system settings. Any help in this regard would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

I have no problems with the battery icon - perhaps you need to flash again? As for the USB issue, you should have the option to mount the phone in mass storage when you connect to the computer. The option shows up in the notification menu. Click that and then you should know what to do.

Thanks, but that's the problem! I don't see anything popping up in the notifications!
Also, I have another problem! For google accounts I don't see calendar in the sync options, hence I don't see any of the google account calendar in the google calendar app. Any help in this regard!
Update: Partially followed this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=35064880&highlight=calendar#post35064880
In that, just installed the calendar app from google on play store and voila!
But the storage issue remains!

If I were you, I'd do a full wipe and flash. When you flash, or rather before you flash, make sure to format system. That seems to get rid of a lot of gremlins! It's not the build at any rate, it's something to do with your setup.
That is my problem too, now i want to update other ROM but i don't know how to copy file to my Tablet. Could you help me how to do it.
Thanks all,

Here are a couple of options.
1) Download the ROM directly to your phone through the browser.
2) Send the file to your phone over wifi using WiFi File Transfer Pro, AirDroid, or ES File Explorer. There are a number of other options in the Play Store but these are the three I've used before.
3) Pop out the external SD card and connect it to your computer to grab the file.
4) Transfer directly from your computer via Bluetooth.
I'm sure there are other ways too but these are the ones that come to mind.
Good luck.

EDIT: Just realized I replied to a month-old post.
Sorry if this is a stupid question, most of my search resulted in threads about mass storage protocol vs. media transfer protocol, which isn't my issue.
When I first bought my TF300T, I was able to access most, if not all, the folders on the TF300T from my computer when connected by USB. This was not mass storage protocol, it was media transfer protocol as well, but I had full access.
After a hard reset, my PC only recognizes the tablet as if it was a camera (or an iPhone), as in I can only access the DCIM folder and only to download the pictures.
Something changed either in the TF300T settings from the reset (never upgrade to 4.2, I am still at JB 4.1), or I changed the drivers on the computer.
Anybody knows what I am talking about?
you're on stock now right? and what OS are you using on your pc?
In Settings -> Storage -> USB Computer Connection, just change the connection type from PTP to MTP.

To be honest, the TF300T is my first android, which I owned for 4 months, out of which 2 months it was broken (waited a month before getting around to order a digitizer and took a month to receive), and the 2 first months I gave it to my son since he was going on a long long travel trip.
I only got to know the device for a few hours, and get "intimate" with it when I had to swap the digitizer
Anyone having issues with AFT and the GS7? When I plug in the GS7, AFT launches but I get an error that the device is locked, even though it isn't (screen is on and it's unlocked). I've tried removing security just to eliminate that, doesn't help.
Other Android 6.0 devices work fine with AFT so it's clearly GS7 related.
Particularly annoying because you can't yet write directly to the External SD card

When you connect S7 to the MAC, it says cannot connected, but a popup appears on your phone. Allow it, and don't disconnect the USB cabel. Once again, start Android File Transfer App. This is how it works. Each time when you plug S7 in, you have to allow the connection on the phone, after that it works until you disconnect S7.
When I plug mine in and change the setting to media transfer on the phone AFT pops up and says "try reconnecting or restarting your device" then closes. Every time

Please don't assume we're rookies. It does not work. Even after clicking "allow" for permissions, it fails every time.
Also don't assume every variant is the same.

OK, I found a real solution: install Samsung Smart Switch and update it. When phone is connected (don't have to allow) there is a small arrow on the right side of the name of your device, expand it, and a small folder icon opens a file manager like AFT. By the way it has also a backup/restore/update/syncMAC function without root.
If you have been getting a response when plugging in a Galaxy S7 or Galaxy S7 edge, do the following:
Go the the Kies website and download Kies for Mac.
Next, openKiesMacSetup.dmg which you've just downloaded.
Click Uninstall. Your Mac will ask you to open the app, so you'll need to open it.
Once it's done uninstalling Kies you probably had on your computer from a while back and no longer use, once you plug in your new GS7 or GS7 edge, and open the AFT application on your Mac, it should still give you a weird response, but on your phone, this time it'll ask you if you're ready to connect your phone and open it up to see files on your computer. Select that you do, and it'll work.
A Finder window opens, and the model number will appear in the center of the Finder window with the requisite files.
Actually, unless I missed it, nobody touched on the solution, which is incredibly simple. I found it on accident. The default setting for the GS7 is to CHARGE when plugged into a Mac (maybe PC too?). Swipe the top notification area, tap "charging" and switch it to file transfer, or photo, or whatever else you want. Good luck!!!
Fixed it for me just now
I was having all of the above issues. What worked for me was completely removing all traces of Android File Transfer (including other mobile sync applications) with AppDelete. Then I reinstalled Android file transfer, plugged my phone in, tapped "Allow", and it worked!

I struggled with this, as well. I even uninstalled all KIES drivers form my Mac and AFT still didn't work with my S7 until I did the following:
(1) Plug the S7 USB into the Mac.
(2) Down swipe the status bar at the top and you should see a "USB Charging" status.
(3) Tap on the "USB Charging" status and a menu with radio buttons should pop up.
(4) Choose the "File Transfer" option.
After doing that, AFT worked properly and it didn't even require me to click "Allow" or anything else. It just worked.
mickliq's solution worked for me as well (hadn't been able to connect an s7 or s6 to a mac air osx 10.11.4 until downloading and uninstalling Kies). Thanks!

Hello.
I am having a lot of trouble getting the USB drivers to work.
I am wanting to simply connect my Moto One 5G Ace with a USB cable and have it show up as a drive on Windows File Explorer. I want to copy files to/from the SD card.
But either I'm not downloading the right drivers, or my developer settings are wrong, or something else is going on.
I downloaded the "MotoroalDeviceManager_2.5.4.exe. All that seems to do is check for software updates.
I downloaded Motorola_Mobile_drivers_v6.4.0.zip, which seems to do absolutely nothing.
When I connect the phone to the computer, I get the popup from the system tray "Setting up the Motorola One 5G Ace device" (or whatever), then asks me what I want to do with it by default. I select "Open File Explorer". Well, the "motorola one 5G ace" selection in File explorer shows a blank screen.
If I go into USB Debugging and turn it on, the phone disappears from File Explorer entirely.
I've gotten this to work before with my Moto X4.
I'm running Windows 10.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

I was actually looking for that, but couldn't find it. A search at the top of the interface found it.
So no, it wasn't set. I set it, and I got further. Thanks!
But not too much further.
What is now being shown in File Explorer, under "motorola one 5G ace" is:
android
Internal shared storage
I'm assuming "android" is my SD card, as that's how it seems to appear everywhere else on the phone. It also shows 115GB used, which is about right for that SD card, considering the junk I have on it.
Browsing under Internal shared storage is empty. Nothing is under there. ZIP.
Under "android" are a bunch of directories, such as .$recycle.bin$, Alarms, Android (yes, again), DCIM, Download, Movies, Podcasts, Ringtones, and a drive symbol.
Alarms has some small files. Everything else is empty.
So, I'm part way there. What can I check next? Permissions issue, perhaps?
Thanks

Ok folks, so I did a repair job on the msi, and it got "further". I could see some directories.
But then I decided to swap out the cable. And that seemed to do the trick. I'm now able to transfer over some huge files. Odd, as I thought the original cable was a good one, too.

More often than not, a bad cable or port on the PC end is the culprit. However, in my case, on my laptop, I have to uninstall and then reinstall the drivers after every time I have shut it down. All works well then until I shut down my laptop and then reboot the next day. Rinse and repeat. It's a head scratcher for sure. But at least I can get things working again.

Yeah, I've used that cable for other transfers, too. So I'm not sure what happened. Maybe this was the first time I used it in a USB 3.0 port, so it couldn't handle the higher speed. That's all I can think of.
I'll consider this the next time I have transfer issues.
