Android emulators that support 120hz, do they exist? - General Questions and Answers

So far, Phoenix OS is the only one that let me achieve this. But its FPS mode is so unstable that that renders my game unplayable.
With recent smartphones having 120hz screen, I believe the emulators should implement it too.

Psx4droid Compatibility List for HTC Evo

Let's see how this works out. The other thread on psx4droid seems to be a bit cluttered, so I thought it would make sense to create a thread that's nothing but a list of the games that do and do NOT work with the current version of the application. If this works out, great. If it gets locked due to being unnecessary, that's fine too .
If you want to contribute, simply list the game you tried, including the refresh rate(s), whether you're overclocked or running a custom ROM, and whether you have sound enabled, because sound does make a difference.
COMPATIBILITY LIST (in alphabetical order)
Arc the Lad - Runs under default/30/40/50/60 refresh rate, some minor slowdown and distorted audio. Running CyanogenMod 6.
Breath of Fire IV - Runs under 30 refresh rate, but 20-30 minutes in the player hits an invisible wall and is unable to proceed. Running CyanogenMod 6.
Castlevania: Symphony of the Night - Runs poorly under Default/30/40/50/60 refresh rate.
Colony Wars: Vengence - Does not boot, leads to a black screen. Running Damage Control 3.5.
Cool Boarders 3 - Runs under 50 refresh rate, runs well but sound is screwed up. Running Fresh 1.0.1, no overclock.
Crash Bandicoot - Runs under Default/30/40/50/60 refresh rate, audio is pretty choppy, game lags less than the sequels. Easily playable, though. Running Fresh 1.01, no overclock.
Crash Bandicoot 2 - Runs under Default/30/40/50/60 refresh rate, audio is pretty choppy, game lags enough to be annoying. Easily playable, though. Running Fresh 1.01, no overclock.
Crash Bandicoot Warped! - Runs under Default/30/40/50/60 refresh rate, audio is pretty choppy, game lags enough to be annoying. Easily playable, though. Running Fresh 1.01, no overclock.
Chrono Cross - Runs under Default/30/40/50/60 refresh rate, very inconsistent, poor audio reproduction.
Diablo - Runs under Default/30/40/50/60 refresh rate. Running Fresh (1.0.1?) with custom godmode kernel and CyanogenMod 6.

Final Fantasy VII - Runs amazingly under 40/50 refresh rate, Running CyanogenMod 6.
Final Fantasy VIII - Runs under Default/30/40/50/60 refresh rate, frame rate drop with multiple characters on screen. Running CyanogenMod 6.
Final Fantasy Anthology (FF5 and FF6) - Somewhat playable, numerous audio bugs and menus take upwards of 4-6 seconds to load. Running CyanogenMod 6.
Frogger - Works under Default/30/40/50/60 refresh rate, sound is choppy under any setting, game runs smoother with audio disabled. Running Fresh 1.0.1, no overclock.

Playable
Somewhat playable
Not playable
Does not boot
Reserved in case something wacky happens...
Diablo eboot works till you reach dungeon then lines and crash, evo fresh custom godmode kernel and all refresh rates
On DC 3.2...
Gran Turismo 2 (arcade disc) works well. Some minor sound bugs and slowdown at times, but is playable. Haven't tried on FroYo.
EDIT 1: Tried under 30/40/50 refresh rates, doesn't seem to make much difference.
EDIT 2: Also probably relevant, using DC compatable netarchy-toastmod 3.7.3c kernel (FPS cap removed).

What refresh rates did you play under? I listed it as working under all the rates for now. Thanks, though .
On DC 3.5:
Colony Wars: Vengence would not boot. Just went to a black screen.
Any word on Metal Gear Solid?
EVO Stock.
Suikoden II - Playable with all refresh rates, sound is distorted, but not a big issue.
Best to get a WIKI going. I got most of the work done by ripping a PSX4PSP wiki from gamerspress, its located HERE: http://psx4droid.wikkii.com/wiki/Compatibility

The PSP is a VERY different mobile device than the Evo. For one, it's got a better GPU (most likely), so it's bound to run more games well. Second of all, Sony released its own Playstation emulator for the PSP, which means that its a core function of that device. You can't just rip a list of compatible games from a device that is supported to play PSX games by the manufacturer and migrate it to a smartphone running software developed by a few people, currently in its first release.

I'm not an idiot. There is no blank wiki available that I could find that had a great deal of PSX games and corresponding information available. I'm working to rip the 'notes' from every game, but leave all other information. Someone should do it, and a wiki allows EVERYONE to do it.

According to Qualcomm, the Adreno is faster than a PSP in raw performance... Though Qualcomm likes to spout off a lot of ****.

The PSP is a machine dedicated to play games. It doesn't matter what it's hardware is.
My PC is a GOD compared to the hardware in a PS3.... yet if there is a PS3 emulator out, my computer wouldn't be able to handle it if the fate of the world depended on it.
Same situation with this phone. It's crappy snapdragon is ill-suited for playing playstation games. A Galaxy S on the other hand probably has no trouble at all. Can't wait til I can buy a Samsung Epic.
Now for some useful information.
ROM: CM6 nightly (7/25) overclocked to 1.13 Ghz
Refresh rate: 40
Final Fantasy Tactics runs very poorly. Sometimes it's smooth... but mostly choppy. I couldn't even bare the opening scene (people talking) in order to actually make it to a fight.
I find this odd because a lot of people said Tactics was playable.
I did some testing myself:
Fresh EVO 1.0.1 with netarchy-toastmod kernel 3.7.3c, stock CPU speed, Epson screen.
GTA2 - 50fps - Playable, Runs great except for the fact all objects, player, and cars are invisible with the iso im using.
Cool Boarders 3 - 50fps - Playable, Runs decent, Sound is screwed up.
Twisted Metal 4 - 50fps - Playable, cannot shoot as no L2 or R2, game only fills top half of screen?!
Tomb Raider III - 50fps - Plays near perfect, sound works.
Driver - 50fps - Perfectly playable, sensitive controls, minor sound skipping.
Final Fantasy VII - 50fps - Runs near perfect, minor fps drops every 30 seconds to 1 min.
The WIKI as a blank slate is done! That took a long time to reformat and remove the PSP info, but it should be worth it.

Wow, that's a pretty big number of games, thanks for the contribution!
Also, regarding Twisted Metal 4, the screen issue can be fixed by going to the options in the main menu and selecting 'Screen orientation'. When you're there, you should see a picture of sweet tooth on a black and white background. Just press the down arrow once, and the screen should calibrate itself perfectly. The lack of L2 and R2 buttons make the game worthless, though.
How can I get this PSX4Droid thing to even work. I keep getting a black screen.
Tested Breath of fire 4. It is quite playable until you reach the part at the cliffs in the beginning. You cant go down the stairs as there is this invisible wall blocking your path. And hence you cannot progress

Have you made several purchases immediately before buying this app? I had that problem twice before, but then I realized that it would authorize just fine if I waited an hour or two before buying.

Game Booster working correctly?

Hi, I am just playing around with the settings in gamebooster and have the feeling that something isn't working correctly.
For example:
I edit settings (resolution) of Super Mario Run and save the settings.
Then I reopen the game, but after that I can't press anything in the game (no recognition of touch input)
Then I have to reboot the phone.
Kill the game from Multitask-Windows doesn't help.
Moreover Mario Run is listed as a 120Hz compatible game on Razer homepage. But with 120hz it stutters on my device. Have to set it to 60hz.
Do your game work correctly if you edit settings and reopen the game?
And how do you configure your Game Booster?
I'm using the custom settings and also experience odd behaviour. When switching resolution with summoners war I can't close menus via the x-buttons. They're simply not touchable.
I don't have to restart the phone for changes to take effect.
I did further testing. Yes, the only problem is switching resolution. It only works if the in game booster selected resolution is the same as the resolution in device settings.
Otherwise something is wrong with touch input.
And yes, reboot is not needed after change of game booster settings.
For summoners war only the 1440p resolution works even though I use 1080p as system setting.
So, it seems that some game have problems with resolution change in game booster.
3D rendered games seems so work with a resolution change, but some of my 2D games (like mario run) dont work with a resolution change.
Moreover:
Is antialiasing on, when the slider is on the left (greyed out) or the right (green)? (The description is a bit confusing).
Moreover do you see a optical difference between on and off? I cannot see a difference.

Gaming performance.

After mucking around with certain games I used to have on my old Galaxy S8 I've discovered something interesting. I get ridiculous lag and frame pacing in just about every game leading to poor results in games such as Cytus 2 (fast paced rhythm game relying on accurate input with no lag) the new Sky game (stutters and tearing in both refresh modes), and a side scroller that has no heavy graphical fidelity (lags on screen and even tears sometimes).
This is all kind of in accordance to this recent review video of the p40 (different phone, same chipset)
https://www.androidauthority.com/huawei-p40-vs-galaxy-s20-plus-1133345/
Now one thing I've noticed is that if I use appassistant to launch these games, the poor performance disappears entirely. No lag anywhere, in Cytus, where before during fast sections it wouldn't even register taps 6-7 times per song, there are ZERO misses across the board. Similarly, no screen tearing or lag in any other game.
Wondering if the OS is optimized to cut power to the GPU and put it into limp mode during normal operation to save battery as I've noticed a dramatic difference in battery drop when using appassistant or not to play games. I mean naturally, the appassistant game center is doing its job but man that's a big difference.
Anyone have similar experiences?
Whats appassistant????

oculus quest 90hz

is anyone able to make it work?
oculus quest is actually capable of 90hz but toned down to 72 for battery life reasons
you can change a few options using sidequest not sure about 90hz but better graphics and video capture etc...

Pokemon GO on Nord?

hey Forum,
are there any experience, playing Pokemon GO especially PvP on this phone?
How is the performance, can you fully use the 90Hz Display?
Thanks a lot!
the phone is more than capable to play Pokemon GO..
cant comment on 90Hz display since i have not enabled the mode..
The 90hz mode seems to work when looking at the overworld, and when capturing pokemon, it is noticably smoother than my old 60hz Poco F1 was. I have not tested PVP as I dont really play the game any more.
