All the buttons, including the volume knob stop working.
It has happened several times on my android 5.1.1/mtcd/joying unit.
When it happens the boot process is strange. It spends a while displaying the car logo, then it displays the desktop for a second or so and then it displays the car logo again. It sort of looks like it boots twice.
Wiping the dalvik cache does not fix the problem. I have to factory reset or wipe everything from recovery to get the buttons working again.
I am currently using malaysk rom for MTCD units but I had exactly the same issue on the stock rom.
I think the problem is related to autostarting apps on reboot.
Today it happened after I installed the Sygic speed camera/traffic alert app. Everything worked fine for a while, until I chose to auto start it (from the settings menu inside the Sygic app), rebooted, and the buttons no longer worked.
To check if the autostart option really caused the problem I installed the app again, chose to auto start from the settings inside the app, and the same thing happened. Buttons no longer worked.
The issue is not specific to Sygic, as I have had the same issue with other apps.
Now I use tasker to autostart the app. It has survived a few reboots. I hope it lasts.
Does anyone understand the boot process on these units well enough to help debug it further?
It would be nice if I could fix it the next time it happens, instead of having to wipe/reinstall everything.
It seemed to be completely random for me... and it stopped happening as randomly as it started.
I posted the process I went through to get them back (reboot, reboot to recovery, reboot again, etc) but very intermittent.
I experience this whenever I reboot from the power icon in the taskbar. It seems to have started after upgrading to Malaysk's version 4. I have verified this on two Joying units. My workaround is to reboot with the reset button when I have to.
I have not had any apps autostart since the last time it happened, but the buttons stopped working again a few days later, and the "double boot" came back also. The reset button did not help.
A factory reset from the settings menu made the buttons work again.
I was using the latest joying rom and MCU. Spotify, iGo navigation (from joying) and the TomTom speed camera app were the only "extras" installed if I remember correctly.
I am about to give up on the (JY-UL135) head unit now. Unless someone has suggestions on what to do.

xdamember2, i think you are right. Power icon in the task bar is the root of evil.
Today i've had the same experience. But with the buttons, the sound had also disappeared. Pushing hardware reset button had fixed the problem.
So I suggest to remove power icon from the task bar.
This happened to me yesterday, but as well as buttons/steering wheel control, all sound output stopped working! No radio, music or navigation sounds. Tried a reboot, but in the end only a factory reset did the trick as specified previously.
Very frustrating!
This happened to me again today for the second time. While driving the screen turned to white/black static like moving artifacts and the sound cut off. After holding the power button to reset the buttons are not working. I'll update to Malaysk's Rom v5 now but looks like my apps are wiped again...
i've been on v5 for the past few days and i haven't witnessed this behavior.
Any luck with the buttons and sound stop working? It`s the same with version 6 of this ROM which i like way better then the stock ROM. I`v noticed that any other reboot except the standard one, when the HU shuts off by it self, will make buttons unusable and no sound. The first time it happen to me was when i did some changes in the "factory settings" menu that needed to reboot the device. The only way i managed to fix it was to do a factory reset. Tomorrow will try to flash the same ROM (V6) without wiping to see if this will fix it,because they don`t work again now after rebooting from the power icon . Lets hope someone finds solution for this annoying issue.
MY FIX for Volume knob not working on Android Head Unit
Hi All
I updated my generic Ford Focus PX5 android head unit, and after much swearing and reading on here, I still was unable to fix the top left volume and top right tuning rotary knobs as they had stopped responding.
Eventually i started mucking about with Factory Settings and in the "OTHER" section I looked at "Knob Mode"
Experimenting with the various settings I eventually determined that for me, "2 10K/20K ADC Ports" works. I now have fully functioning controls.
I hope this is of some help to you guys!
I had been fooling with the settings of my Android head unit and some days later realized my volume knob wasn't working. That knob was a big factor in my purchase of this unit. After fooling with a dozen or more logical sounding settings, I happened upon the setting which had to do with 'Key lights'. Here's the fix:
From 'Settings' go to 'Factory Settings' and enter code 8888. Go to 'Key Light Settings'. On 'please open the debug button lamps' press 'OK", slide the screen up and turn off 'whether to turn on the colorful lights'. Back on out and the volume should now be working. Hope this helps

I recently bought a new android head unit. All are working well except the original volume knob of the car. Sometimes i must turn it 4-5 clicks for the volume to move 1 click, and other times i may turn it 10-15 clicks and the volume does not respond at all. This is very frustrating! I found a solution on youtube which says factory settings-other- and uncheck the wheel3 option, but my head unit doesn't have this option at all. I hope your solution will help me!
Update : I searched for this solution you mentioned but this option does not exist in my factory settings with 8888 code. Only car logo. I dont know what to do....
Hello guys, first post here.
So I have this problem with my Z1c: When my headphones are connected, the notification volume goes all the way up and when I am listening to music, the volume of it randomly goes up and down (without me pressing any buttons). Also, the power button stops working, I can't turn the screen off.
I think my phone is recognizing my headphones as a headset (Smart Connect says so) and it thinks I am pressing some non-existent buttons.
I have tried disabling Smart Connect and even factory resetting my Z1c. Neither has solved the problem. Is the headphone jack busted?
By the way, the problem exists with both my in-ears and over-ear headphones.
I haven't found anything online about this particular problem.
Thanks,

Haven't ever used smart connect myself, but there's obviously bugs with it, (quick search turns up pages of complaints on Sony forums). Seems like one of those things they just didn't get right, in general. Since it's persistent after hard reset, my guess is hardware, but just to be clear - when you did a factory reset, it still did the same thing right off the bat, without you adding or tweaking anything, right? Also did you just factory reset, or did you reflash the rom? If it's a problem with the system flash, a reset won't change it.
I would try to reflash system, and see if the same. Also, are you rooted? You can try removing smart connect app, etc. (make a backup)...
Also, have you seen this - https://play.google.com/store/apps/...key&pcampaignid=APPU_1_kgNwWerXJYbf-QHv8Jy4Aw

Thanks for your reply levone,
Smart Connect was working flawlessly for me since i got the phone which was a couple of years ago, but unfortunately these last few days I have run into this problem. My phone isn't rooted, so I can't remove it. (it's a system app)
I just did a factory reset, not a reflash, and it did the same thing right off the bat. I don't know how to reflash, so I'll have to research that if the problem persists.
I will try the Smartkey app, thanks for that.
Alright, I tried Smartkey, the problem is still there. Next I tried reflashing the ROM, the problem is still there .
Next I tried disabling Smart Connect and installing Smartkey on the reflashed phone, just to see if it did anything, it didn't.
So, this must be a hardware problem, right? Headphone jack busted in some way?
Appreciate your thoughts,
Hello,
i had also issues with the headphone jack. In mine were fluffs (lint, dust - not my native language, so sorry for using bad words).
after removing there weren´t any issues.
Greetings
I had the same problem. Replacing the headphone connector was the solution, in my case of course. But you could first try to clean connector. If problem persist you have to change definitely the connector.
Have a new China headunit with android 7.1.2 and first there was no FM radio. Searched XDA and with password m123456 got into factory settings and there the radio stood OFF?? Changed it to ON and after restart it was there. But there's no signal, no sound, nothing. Anyone ideas?
Also, this is a monitor with no buttons. How do you get in recoverymode when there's no on/off button? I only have the reset possibility (little hole on the side of the monitor).
Info headunit; see attachments

Did you select your country as well ?
If you mean the region for the radio in factory settings, I did.
If you mean region in Android, like date and clock? Somehow I only can set it manually. If I choose automatic date/time it stays on Chinatime?
And do you have your radio antenna Installed?
For going into recovery:
Press reseat button until you see flashing the button lights..(approx 25sec)
Release and press again until see your nougat logo.
Release and wait for recovery menu

Radio antenna, isn't that the microphone? There's no separate antenna plug? See https://www.seicane.com/android-hd-...hd-1080p-video-steering-wheel-control-s018848
Recovery; press reset button until you see flashing the button lights.. (approx 25sec) >> what button lights flash? There are no buttons
WOW would you look at that unit !! Does it drive the car for you too !!?? lol Judging by the pictures it must be on the box somewhere but when zooming in I cant see if/where it would say ANT..
Yes, looks impressive, car almost drives itself . Works very well, nice touchscreen, only no radio signal. Also the steering wheel buttons can't be changed. But they work well, although would be nice if I could customize them.
Sorry to say, but there's nothing on the box for a Antenna. The only thing saying something about an Antenna is on the big plug/connector witch connects to the original radio. On the attached picture there are 2 pins ANT. Does it use the original car antenna through the connector of the original radio?
It says that it syncs with the cars bluetooth have you been able to get and kind of sound with it ?
Your new unit don't have radio, the radio is from stock unit, you must have to connect your new unit in conjunction with the stock unit. And there is a "app icon" that switch to original menu and there's your radio.
You just change the stock screen for the new one and connect the original cable of the stock screen to the connection labeled car lvds
Cid6.7: yes, bluetooth works fine and the sound is good!
Hugovw1976: I did not know there wouldn't be a radio in Andorid. I can switch between stock and Android. But, when I go to Android the stockradio stops. The only way to go from stockradio to Android is when I push long the GPS button on the steeringwheel. Stockradio keeps playing and GPS (IGO) starts on the screen. I can go back to the radio but then the GPS stops.
Are you saying there isn't even a FM receiver in the central box?
Oh, and thanks for the replies, now we are getting somewhere.

I install a similar unit (the central box is the same) on a Audi Q3 an there's no radio.
Thanks, that makes everything clear. Do you have experience with the steering wheel settings? When I turn it on in the factorysettings and restart the system it comes up in Android settingsmenu. When I start it up I get a black screen?
When in recovery mode how to scroll in the menu?
Or does the touchscreen work in recovery mode?

Hi, can't get into recovery.
Do I have to press reset button when unit is off or on?
Took power cable off, pressed reset button, put power cable on and followed your instructions. Did not work.
Please advise.
Solved:
First in the systemmenu there was no way to activate developer settings in the normal way. Solved this with Total Commander.
Bought a USB cable, in my case A to A. Couldn't get in because USB standard is set on 'Host' and it is not possible to connect with a OTG cable.
In factorysettings wrote 'abdon' and immediately the headunit came up on the with USB connected Windows PC .
On PC choose to see the files. It works!
Downloaded latest SDK. Opened commandprompt and changed dir to the SDK directory.
Put in command: 'adb devices' (without the quotes) and there it was!!
The command that worked for me to get into recovery is: 'adb reboot recovery'
Only problem left: fastboot is not working in recovery mode. I think the problem is that the USBconnection goes back in Hostmode when booting into recovery. Anyone now how to solve this?
hello everyone
i am hoping that you guys will be able to help me out. i have an xtrons head unit 10.1 inch double din running 5.1 firmware. i reached out to the people that sold it to me about updating to a newer firmware and they told me i can only update the software. they sent me a file that would update my software with instructions. i updated my unit now the back light that lights up the touch buttons does not work neither does the power, volume up, down or home the back button does work but instead of going back it raises the volume. i can not turn the head unit off only when the car ignition gets turned off. i tried to use a remapping app but it doesn't seem to find the buttons that i want to remap. the sellers are not offering any help because it is 3 months past the warranty. xtrons told me the radio is discontinued and are also not offering any help this is what was on the file they sent HH 通用机安卓5.1(20170307)_rk3188_5.1.rar
p.s i also attached a photo of the info that the radio has i am not sure if when i updated it if it changes the info. thanks for any help that you guys can provide
Have you tried going into the factory settings and entering the touch calibration menu?
If you go to settings, factory settings (password is "126" without the quotes) and go to the touch panel calibration there's one to calibrate the touch screen and another one that says "touch panel" or front panel.
Play around with that menu and that should solve your problem.
thanks for helping me as fast as you did. it did work i also found a video on YouTube that might help other with this same problem. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I27cjq0SUTk

Hi guys I have had a teyes spro plus for a couple of months on a vauxhall insignia. I have never been able to get the steering controls to work, when I click on the steering buttons the car comes up with volume icon on the dash clocks and says no audio and when I try to change the canbus to insignia everytime its like it isn't saving the setting and keeps going back to like I haven't set it up. If I reboot the unit and goto steering buttons it flashes up for a second to press a button on the wheel to configure then nothing... everything else works on screen like door opening, climate control, reverse camera ect just not the steering controls..im pretty sure the 4 pin usb hasn't any power either im yet to confirm this with a multimeter. I have updated the unit to the latest firmware but still the same.
Any ideas? Or anything i can try? Thanks
What did reseller and/or installer suggest.
Any info in the teyes discussion post?
I bought it directly from teyes and installed it myself. Ive went through all the connections all seem ok. I've contacted teyes who said it was an issue with the firmware why it wasn't saving wait for the new one which I did but its exactly the same.
Is there a teyes discussion post sorry I've missed it have you a link bud thanks
Don't know if this is related, but the supplied Teyes wiring harness had an unplugged small white connector, I plugged the connectors together and could not get the steering wheel to learn. Unplugged the connector and was able to program the steering wheel buttons.

Hi mate i had same issue, and i manage to fix it.
But we dont have same car, is that spro with newer update from cc2 or?
anyway how to fix it:
You need to install older original Steering control.apk, I manage to extract from older firmware and installed it in newer one. And it works like charm with older program.

Hi guys
My spro plus stopped working since 1 week and I’m unable to find the issue I checked everything changed the 15A also but didn’t resolved the issue. It just shows the black screen when the engine starts and the button lights just turn on and off after few seconds.
I contacted the technical teyes team they said your device is broken.
