Where does the ota update get stored in honor 8?
In the HwOUC folder in internal storage... After the OTA downloads, do not reboot the phone right after because reboot and update, the zip files will disappear somehow

Hi
I'm currently trying to update my honor 6 plus to lolipop,I've downloaded the upate zip and its residing in the download folder of my internal storage.
I've then gone to updater and opened local update, but all i see is a message saying......."unable to find update package. Please download the package and copy it to your SD card or the /dload directory in your internal storage."
Am i missing something? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Anyone?,pretty please
Ok,finally got the above problem sorted, but now I'm getting this message, any help would be greatly appreciated.
Hi,
Having extracted UPDATE.APP file from the zip and then copied it over to the /dload directory I initiated the EMUI Updater and chose the 'Local update' option. The phone switches off and reboots to CWM Recovery screen each time. Is this supposed to happen? If so, what option should I choose?
If not, what am I doing wrong?

Instal stock recovery and unroot the phone
it will be enough to install stock recovery via Honor MultiTool. Root will be disabled after update to Lollipop of course, but bootloader will be still unlocked. So you can install CWM and root viat MultiTool again.
I have the same problem, instalation failed message, any solution?
Hey Guys -
Was about to upgrade to 4.2 today and have already downloaded & copied over the full OTA to the root of my internal storage. After reading about FlashFire, I downloaded and installed it. I saw where it had options to install OTAs within, but haven't yet tried.
My main concern in attempting is that I have a 64gb SD card which I have formatted as "Internal Storage." After seeing a warning about using Android's "migrate" feature potentially causing the partition to be wiped, I decided to post first.
Few Questions, Please...
So, has anyone used FlashFire to update an OTA? If so, I have a few questions, please...
1. Know if it would work with Internal Storage enabled and retain all configurations & installations?
2. To flash it, do you add an action, browse to the full OTA, and start using default options?
3. Is there a way to upgrading using an OTA which isn't full?
4. How does using FlashFire differ from installing the OTA + SuperSU zips at same time in TWRP?
Thanks!
Just flash it in twrp. Make sure that the OTA will not overwrite twrp.
i used flashfire on my k1 mate and ive got my sd card set to internal storage, all i did was made sure i set my tablet to download the full ota (its around 600mb i think) then open flashfire it will find the update and the just click ok and it will do it all for you, everything is still intact apart from xposed which i had to reflash in twrp
Hello,
I have Huawei P9 EVA-L09C150B141, downloaded the latest version both B170 and B180, put it in dload folder on my sd card, but when I go to update my phone from menu, I don't get option to update with file from sd card. (only check update on web
In what way can I update my P9 with latest B180 firmware, since through menu I'm unable to do it, and it doesn't offer me update through any kind and type??
Thanks in advance
edit - founded explanation here - http://www.xda-developers.com/andro...huawei-p9-and-mate-8-is-available-get-it-now/ and was able to enter by dialing code in dialing app (project menu).
Downloaded update.zip to the root of the sd card, with dialing app go to "project menu", select software upgrade and then sd card upgrade and get info "no update available". then tried it again, this time put update.zip to the folder "dload" in root of sd, same again.
Then shutdown phone, and started it with power and volume keys together, and it says verifying update package, and it stops at 5% saying "software istall failed - the update package does not exist".
Any advice, help maybe???
Found solution, that is the update.zip file must be extracted to the folder "dload" on my sd card.

Simple answer... Yes.
I did exactly that update not long ago. Let the app download it and move it to dload folder on your external sd card. Reboot to erecovery (hold down both up & down volume keys & keep them pressed then hold down power until the phone reboots & goes into erecovery)
The update should be automatically installed.

How do I remove the data in the folder, it's still picking up the 180 ROM.
Make sure the dload folder only contains the B182 update.app file, delete the rest

Could there be a dload folder on my SD card to?
From memory I think the firmware finder app downloads to the internal memory, so yes. You need to copy the dload folder to the root of the external sd card (deleting the one already there if there is one)

Done it. Wish I could do this for Android 7.
Trying to upgrade my Android OS from Kitkat to Marshmellow on Honor 6 L04
Update folder on SD Card created. Update APP is in the extracted Update folder.
I launch update via short code *#*#2846579#*#* but I always get the message "can't find Update APP"
Installation says to extract Update APP in to Download folder. It was already extracted after unzipping Update folder.
Can anybody help me? Very much appreciated
you have to create a new folder in sdcard name it as dload , and copy the UPDATE.APP which it was in obtained by extracting the zip and power off the device and press all three buttons or update it through dialer *#*#2846579#*#*:good::good:
