Simple answer... Yes.
I did exactly that update not long ago. Let the app download it and move it to dload folder on your external sd card. Reboot to erecovery (hold down both up & down volume keys & keep them pressed then hold down power until the phone reboots & goes into erecovery)
The update should be automatically installed.

How do I remove the data in the folder, it's still picking up the 180 ROM.
Make sure the dload folder only contains the B182 update.app file, delete the rest

Could there be a dload folder on my SD card to?
From memory I think the firmware finder app downloads to the internal memory, so yes. You need to copy the dload folder to the root of the external sd card (deleting the one already there if there is one)

THIS HAS BEEN POSTED BY A USER ASHISH 12. Though this works perfectly but thew way the description has been done its damn confusing. So first i'll post his original message and then explain it in detail as i slogged 2 hrs to get it going
1. FLASH BOOT.img, CUST.img, RECOVERY.img, SYSTEM.imgs from B370 via MULTI-TOOL( pretty straightforward)
2.FLASH BOOT.img,RECOVERY.img via fastboot from given link
(fastboot flash boot boot.img, fastboot flash recovery recovery.img)
3.PUT B309 UPDATE.APP in dload folder in SD CARD( external sd card and remove it from phone, but do not go into settings and unmount. Just remove it physically)
4.BOOT device with 3buttons UNPLUGGED from USB and SD card UNMOUNTED( unmounted means out of the device)
5.When u get installation screen MOUNT SD card As Far As Possible( when u do thr 3 button thing first u get honir screem once that is gone there is a momentary blank black screen , at that precise moment u push in the sd card before the updating starts. For that you must have the SD card inserted in thge slot but not pushed in)
6.After that PUT B370 UPDATE.APP dload folder in SD CARD(small pause at 19%)( once the update from above step is completed u get a update complete message and then device reboots. Pull out the sd card and in DLOAD folder now put B370 update.app, and follow same steps from step.4 onwards)
7.REPEAT 4&5 steps

Hello folks, my roommate recently tryed to hard reset his Huawei Y530 but since he has a bad battery, the phone turned off in the middle of the process. When he turned it on there was a message:
Recovery image verify failed, please update to the authorized images
Well, i downloaded the stock firmware image onto the SD card and starter the recovery process, but it gets stuck on FORMATING/DATA. I left it there for 12 hour and nothing happened. When i aborted it, the same stupid message comes back:
Recovery image verify failed, please update to the authorized images
Any body have an idea? Any help is appreciated.
Kind regards
Did some research and found this, hope it works:
1.Extract and copy dload Folder into root of SD card.
2. Power off mobile and insert SD Card and press and hold Vol+ and Vol- and Power on.
3. wait for update complete.
4. Enjoy.
5. Thanks Button. ?

That doesnt work, already tryed that, if the image is in the dload folder, the phone doesnt even see it.
Maybe your download is corrupt try downloading another file.
Nope, it only starts without the dload folder, but eventually gets stuck on formating/data
Hello,
I have Huawei P9 EVA-L09C150B141, downloaded the latest version both B170 and B180, put it in dload folder on my sd card, but when I go to update my phone from menu, I don't get option to update with file from sd card. (only check update on web
In what way can I update my P9 with latest B180 firmware, since through menu I'm unable to do it, and it doesn't offer me update through any kind and type??
Thanks in advance
edit - founded explanation here - http://www.xda-developers.com/andro...huawei-p9-and-mate-8-is-available-get-it-now/ and was able to enter by dialing code in dialing app (project menu).
Downloaded update.zip to the root of the sd card, with dialing app go to "project menu", select software upgrade and then sd card upgrade and get info "no update available". then tried it again, this time put update.zip to the folder "dload" in root of sd, same again.
Then shutdown phone, and started it with power and volume keys together, and it says verifying update package, and it stops at 5% saying "software istall failed - the update package does not exist".
Any advice, help maybe???
Found solution, that is the update.zip file must be extracted to the folder "dload" on my sd card.

Installation says to extract Update APP in to Download folder. It was already extracted after unzipping Update folder.
Can anybody help me? Very much appreciated
you have to create a new folder in sdcard name it as dload , and copy the UPDATE.APP which it was in obtained by extracting the zip and power off the device and press all three buttons or update it through dialer *#*#2846579#*#*:good::good:

Hi guys,
just a question about flashing rom.. should I do a factory reset or wipe anything on the phone before to flash a rom on mate 8?
thanks
toXa
Shouldn't need to no. Just download the file and extract the UPDATE.APP file (just that file - don't make my mistake and copy over all the files 'just in case' as it doesn't work), pop it in an external sd card 'dload' folder, turn off, hold vol up & down & power, release power on logo appearance and let it do its thing
I had a crash course in this over the last two days..
