Honor 8 bootloop - Honor 8 Questions & Answers

My honor 8 suddenly went into a bootloop today. It is not rooted or anything. I've tried to go into recovery but this doesn't work. The only way to stop the bootloop is to force shutdown and quickly plug in the usb cable while holding volume down. When I've done this the phone is turned off (doesn't show the carging screen) and when I turn it back on it goes again into bootloop.

Did this happen randomly or overnight? Try pressing the power button + volume app for 30 seconds or so till you boot into recovery. Did you just purchase the phone?

If this issue began over night there's a bright chance this was due to an OTA update. Was the phone rebranded?
Does the phone respond when you press volume up+ down + power button? Finally try removing your microSD card if you have one.

No the phone was not rebranded, it is an original honor 8 which I bought february last year. When I hold volume up + down + power the phone reboots, but continues in bootloop. The microSD is already removed because I'm using my old phone again with the microSD card.

Thats great, where did you purchase the phone? You could try using the rollback package to reinstall the firmware onto your device.

I've bought the phone at a webshop which went bankrupt last year. So the only thing I can do is sending it back to the factory. I was hoping to get the files from my internal memory before sending it to the factory.

I doubt you'll be able to recover the files on that device. If you do try the rollback method everything on your phone will get wiped. If you don't mind that and are willing to try the rollback method (Fully official) then I'll instruct you on how to do so.

Great! One last thing I need to know, which country did you purchase your Honor 8 from? This is needed as every region has a specific firmware.

Alright, so download the rollback package and the full firmware file for your model from here:
https://www.hihonor.com/uk/support/index.html
Then follow the guide from here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-8/how-to/problem-frd-l09-t3596449
Only difference is use your backup phone to download and unzip those files into the SD card. Then put that SD Card into your phone and run the process.

I can't get the phone into recovery mode. When I'm holding volume up + down + power the phone vibrates once and the screen stays off. About 20 seconds after I release the buttons, the phone goes into bootloop again.
EDIT:
I think I'm going to send the phone back to huawei so they can fix it

To my knowledge, getting the qhsusb_bulk on your computer is a hard brick, and cannot be fixed, without sending it back.

Has exactly the same problem MSMTool looped on 8974_msimage, log has following lines:
[1.#INF00] Device Arrival: \\?\USB#VID_05C6&PID_9008#6&28504aee&0&4#{86e0d1e0-8089-11d0-9ce4-08003e301f73}

Device disconnected each time after progress of "flashing" 8974_msimage ended.
Did No ROOT, No Flash, just common use. Make OTA upgrade once received.
After about a month of using after update - it just did not powered on morning (did not charge it that night - it had 96% on evening). Now detected as QHSUSB_Bulk. No luck with Color OS method.

[Q] Fixing my Bricked Verizon S3

Hello everyone,
I'm in deep trouble with my bricked phone. Yesterday I wanted to flash Cyanogenmod 11 and I was following a video guide on how to do it. The video said to flash TWRP recovery to the phone so that's what I did. I don't believe it said anything about unlocking the bootloader at all. So what happened was I flashed the recovery and the problem said if I wanted to boot into recovery now.
It didn't because a message popped up saying "A program that i not authorized by Verizon was detected on this phone" blah blah blah. And now anytime I tried booting the phone it goes to that message. I can't boot to anything. Yesterday was able to boot into ODIN mode and thought I could flash something or at least wipe my phone completely and start from scratch. Well I went to bed and thought I could pick u from ODIN mode but now my screen won't turn on. When I press the power button, the light nor the screen turns on. Now I have no idea that to do.
Things I've tried:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dU5H8NJ7vTM
I tried this twice, once yesterday with a 2 GB non class 10 SD card and the other today with a 16gb Class 10 SD card that matches my 16gb S3.
Odin doesn't recognize my phone and neither does my computer.
I think my only option is to buy a USB Jig to try to get my phone into download again. Is there anyway I can make a USB jtag jig instead of buying? Would anyone in a Verizon Store be able to help me?
I don not care about the data on my phone at all, all I want to make it work again.
Please help, thanks.
I'll stop by the Verizon Store and see if they can help.
Edit: I wasted my time...

They can't, you need to read the guides on how to fix the softbrick and read up on your device limitations. Updated S3's have locked bootloaders.

Okay I'll keep trying. What probably really bricked my phone was when I tried the fix in the video with a small SD card. I didn't watch the first where he mentions it's crucial to use a 16gb class 10 card...

Your phone isn't hard bricked, it's soft bricked, that guide won't do anything for you. If you were on 4.1.2 you need to use the appropriate file or you'll lock your bootloader.

I tried this one but I can't do it because ODIN doesn't see my phone and I can't get into Odin mode
Edit: Well I can't see anything because my screen won't turn on. I turn on the phone with holding down the Power + Home + Vol Down, then keep holding down Home and Vol Down, then Vol Up to get into download mode. When I plug in the cord the phone vibrates as if I turned it on again.

That will work, but you don't have to go through the whole flashing boot chain process, I'd use the newer guide ThePagel wrote with the 4.1.2 tar.
You should be able to get into download mode. Power + home + volume down until the blue small text appears in the corner. Then you can let go.

That's what the person said at the Verizon store but I don't believe it at all. The screen was perfectly fine Friday night. I didn't drop my phone at all so that the hardware could have been physically damaged.

Okay so I had the phone unplugged and without the battery overnight. I put in the battery and turn it on, phone vibrates and that's it. However, when I plug it in to be charged, now the red LED light doesn't come on and the phone vibrates repeatedly like it's in a boot loop.
How can I tell if my power button it stuck? I can feel the button depress like it should.

Bricked after bootloader unlock?

Hey there,
Tldr bottom
While trying to apply unlock bootloader, root, and custom rom my phone, I encountered a few problems. I bought this phone in china and this gave me so many headaches. Firstoff no gapps so that's why I'm doing all this, but twrp and firmware is a pain in the ass. I unlocked the bootloader and installed twrp. But I couldn't get my phone to boot into twrp, it would only go to erecovery.
I have tried installing twrp and not booting but going straight to twrp, as to avoid the overwrite. It did not work. I tried many many flashes with different twrp, none worked. Not even the Chinese ones. So I figured it might be because I'm running emui 5 on Nougat.
I tried to downgrade, which was a hassle. Dload did not work and finnaly I found that the pc huawei suite had downgrade avaliable. So I tried that but got stuck at the screen in the attachment. I encountered this before so I went to fastboot and flashed twrp and booted up.
Still cant boot into twrp, only erecovery. I Thought I had downgraded, but when booting up I saw it was the old UI and in the 'about phone' it still said emui 5, android 7. So I did it all again. But this time I first locked my bootloader. So I locked my bootloader and tried to downgrade... This time it booted up without problems but it was still emui5 android 7. Odd.
So unlocked my bootloader again and now I'm stuck at this screen. It won't let me boot recovery or fastboot. It does not even respond to vol up+vol down + power. Force update. Nothing works. It boots to this screen everytime.
imgur.com/gallery/gOJ9E
Tldr: unlocked bootloader for second time after failed downgrade. Now its bricked.

It takes sometime to enter fastboot mode when your phone is powered off. Try again.
Switch off the phone
Press volume down button
While pressing it plug your phone
Keep the volume down button pressed.
It takes around 10-15 seconds to show up. Sometimes it takes even more time but eventually you'll be able to enter

Even if they say that you have unlocked bootloader, just be a noob and say you dont know what is bootloader and just know how to use the phone and got the device few days back in the working condition from Amazon from shop etc.
