Hello, here's the open source Chromium web browser. Can't find it in the play store due to it having nightly updates/builds. I will try my best to give a weekly updated build. Thanks and enjoy. Don't forget to hit the thanks[emoji106] button.
BIG THANKS TO @andDevW FOR THE APP THAT COMPILES IT FROM THE SOURCE AND TURNS IT INTO AN APK.
Chromium.apk 5/5/18 Download Link
Thanks for the shout-out.
Here's the direct link to my latest release APK: https://anddevw.com/assets/apk/getchromium/app-release.apk
The app is entirely open source so you can verify everything that it does and if you have any questions or issues, you can get help here.
Building Chromium from source requires more memory (8GB) than any current production Android device has, so I went with downloading the official Chromium Team release from Google's repository and unpacking and installing it. You can do the exact same process manually (if you have a good file manager like Amaze) by downloading the official latest build of Chromium for Android here https://download-chromium.appspot.com/dl/Android?type=snapshots, unzipping it and installing ChromePublic.apk.
I designed getChromium with developers and Debian users in mind, so updating is a deliberate user-initiated process, generally followed by revisiting chrome://flags and enabling new experimental features that weren't available in the previous build. There's no point in automating that, and anyone unfamiliar with this type of manual updating and enabling flags would probably be better served by *Google's Chrome Canary.
*For the record, Google released Chrome Canary for Android 6 months after I released getChromium.
can you please take a look at this Brave Browser issue especially the commit that fixes it , https://github.com/brave/browser-android-tabs/issues/167
it's literally identical to the one that affects Bromite where it request permissions on every boot up.
For those of you who have MyAndroidTools app on your phone, 1)open it 2)click on Services 3) click Third Party 4) Click Bromite 5) Disable ChromeBrowserSyncAdaptiveService and ChromeGcmListenerService 6)open your terminal emulator and type Reboot so as to skip the shutdown animation.
Enjoy without the nag for account permission ??

Fix your broken WiFi!
After having lots of trouble myself with broken WiFi on my device (especially on custom ROMs), I have identified some of the issues and made an app to automate the process of fixing the problems automatically.
Currently the app supports two fixing methods:
Method 1 (Clearing DHCP Lease)
Sometimes, the DHCP lease of Android gets corrupted. In this case, you are not able to connect to any WiFi network - it keeps displaying "Obtaining IP address...". If that is the case, the functionality of WiFi can easily be restored by deleting two files contained in /data/misc/dhcp - dhcpcd-wlan0.lease and dhcpcd-wlan0.pid. They will automatically get recreated once WiFi is enabled again.
Method 2 (Deleting wpa_supplicant)
The file wpa_supplicant.conf (located in /data/misc/wifi) stores all the WiFi passwords of Android. However, for some reason this file gets corrupted easily. Deleting it will force Android to recreate it and WiFi will work again. WARNING: This method will delete your WiFi passwords. Refer to below for instructions on how to backup them.
How to read the WiFi passwords:
Install a file manager with root access (e.g. Root Browser)
Go to /data/misc/wifi and open the file wpa_supplicant.conf
Write down the passwords on a piece of paper (Do NOT backup the file!!!)
PLEASE NOTE: You need ROOT ACCESS for this app to work.
If you don't trust me, you can always check the source on GitHub and build the app yourself. Just in case ^^

Hi,
Running Resurrection Remix 5.6.9 with built in root (not SuperSU) and it doesn't ask for root permissions, just fails with the Fail error message.
Every other root program pops up a box requesting access.
Any ideas?

Doesn't work on ARM64. I verified the sad truth after disabling and "uninstalling" Webview using Titanium. It was powerful placebo.

CAF no longer updates the source so this project is in limbo. If CAF ever starts updating again, I will post new builds.
This is a Chromium Browser built on the CodeAurora source (optimized for Snapdragon devices).
Main changes from source:
-added extra webrefiner (adblock) lists
-changed icon / branding / colouring
Notes:
This browser has no Google Sync. See this link for more information: http://www.androidpolice.com/2017/0...owsers-android-citing-security-vulnerability/

Compiled m59 to Beta
Tonight I will try merging the fullscreen / DuckDuckGo patches and see what happens
I've updated the links for m58 and m59 with new builds, fixing a few things. I've added DuckDuckGo as an option for search engine, but could not get the fullscreen patch to work without it constantly crashing (the code seems to be for an older version of Chrome).
[Edit]: If you try and change the search engine through settings, you may get a crash, but when you go back into it again it should work the second time. Trying to isolate why this is happening.

@lexcyn, your build is awesome. Faster than Tuga in every benchmark and rock solid. Is it very complicated to add the pie control the same way the venerable old AOSP vanilla browser did? There is an Xposed module for that, ChromePIE, but having it included in the browser code as an option would be awesome and fully compatible with Nougat. The sources are here: https://github.com/JayT5/ChromePie. It was originally ripped from the code of the AOSP browser.
Nice build!!!

AWESOME!!!
:highfive:
By the way, the sources of the original AOSP browser (deprecated by google after Jelly Bean) are here https://github.com/ShinyROM/android_platform_packages_apps_browser . The java class PieControl is located inside the src/com/android/browser folder. Also available from the Google Git. This could ease the implementation in your browser. It would be unique with this feature !!!!
The AOSP browser was my favorite, faster and lighter than Chrome. However changes in the webview made it incompatible with Lollipop.

Tons of changes (see changelog link in first post), uplevelled to m59.0.3071.49
2017-05-19
Merged latest patches as seen in source log. Not much going on here!
I looked into the pie controls but the code from the AOSP browser is REALLY old and some of the things it needs to run don't even exist any more... it would mean re-writing a lot of code for the newer V8 engine, which is beyond me sadly.
This is a custom build of Code Aurora's Chromium for Snapdragon. This build aims to deploy the stock Chromium SWE with only few additions. For now the only additions to the browser are: custom icon, custom name, adblock, more search engines. I also wrote an updater app that will search for new builds once a day, and will notify if one is found.
Links to build and updater app:
Auto updater app
Auto updater app source code
Chromium SWE Builds
Update: F-Droid
The app is now available on F-Droid.
Please bear in mind that F-Droid builds its version of the app using its own keys for signing. This means that my build of the app isn't compatible with theirs, and if you want to switch from one to the other you'll need to uninstall first.
UPDATE: version 1.4.1
The auto updater app has been updated, you can download it from the link above (the link has been updated).
This update corrects a major bug in the app.
Version 1.4.1 changelog
This is going to be the last update for the auto-updater app. From now on you are going to receive only new Chromium SWE builds.
I'll release a new version of the auto-updater app only if bugs will be found or if i accept to add a new requested feature.
To report a bug you can open an issue on the github repo of the app (link above), for new features you can post on this thread.

►►WiFi Password Viewer (Root, free and no ads)◄◄
►Introduction◄
First I was looking for a wifi password tool that I can check my WiFi passwords even before I did a full wipe.
Then I was pissed of from all the ads and apps that don't support Oreo (I like Oreo, because 100g Nougat is more expensive than 100g Oreo ).
Last but not least I decided to write a complete free ($$$ / ads) wifi password viewer and share it with you.
►How it works◄
File location Oreo: /data/misc/wifi/WifiConfigStore.xml
File location < Oreo: /data/misc/wifi/wpa_supplicant.conf
WiFi Passwords Viewer is looking for the WiFi Config file in your system.
This file will be copied and read to / from your internal memory.
When your device has read that file it will be deleted immediately and the wifi information are displayed in the apps listview.
There is no internet permission needed for your security (you can share the wifi informations by mail, whatsapp or whatever with the share button)
